Bagel Pub is a neighborhood staple (and favorite) and literally the only place in NYC that I continue to dine at that has a "Grade Pending". Please fix that. But, not to fear--not passing with an A on the first inspection was not a deterrence to me and the swarm of other patrons that keep the lines long and energy high on any given weekend. The lines are seriously almost out of the door. And for good reason. The bagels are freshly made each day and fantastic. I've only had one or two occasions where it felt like there was a QC mishap in the kitchen and the bagels were chewy and felt undercooked. Other than that, they're wonderful. Not to mention the abundance of inventive cream cheese spreads. For a while, my go to was a toasted poppy seed or everything bagel with guacamole cream cheese, but lately I stick to a toasted PS with veggie cream cheese and sometimes add sliced tomato if I want to splurge (lol). That and a single iced decaf espresso with oat milk. I love that they have oat milk AND my favorite brand Oatly. Ordered via Chownow for pick up...very simple and straight forward order....Lox #2 sandwich with tofu cream cheese on the side and pancakes. I get there and they proceed to tell me that the order isn't ready. Ok...no worries...it's Sunday and it's busy...I get it even though it's a simple order...I get it. I worked hospitality/service industry for decades...I totally understand. So I'm waiting and waiting...at least 3 people said my order was coming up next...and we all know how that goes...it doesn't come next. Finally get my order and get back home and it's completely wrong. Like not even a simple mistake...the entire thing was wrong. How in the hell do you put bacon instead of lox on a bagel and then add at least an inch thick of regular cream cheese and avocado on there? Did you not read the order? What they did get right is the tofu cream cheese on the side. It took 5 times to call them for someone to answer and when they did I was told I wouldn't receive a refund but instead I could get a store credit. Really? A store credit to a place I'm not coming back to. I basically burned $20 and didn't eat. This isn't the first time this has happened either. Walk in, get in line to the left from designated entrance. Easiest to scan the menu on the wall with your phone. It was my first time at this location, you can just make your own bagel, I was under the impression that they have special sandwiches but couldn't find it. You get your order taken by staff and they hand you a receipt to take to the counter. You order drinks or coffee at the register. I ended up waiting 10-15 minutes because someone left my bagel in the corner of the back counter and someone must have forgotten to bring it up. About 10-15 people who ordered after me got their orders first. Thankfully the lady taking orders noticed me standing around after everyone around me left. When I got home 5 minutes later, bagel was completely cold had to microwave it. My bagel was great and iced banana latte has been a long-standing favorite but this was not a good experience. Located on the corner of Franklin Ave and St Johns is a busy bagel spot that is great for a order and go experience with some limited outdoor seating options which I will comment on later in the review. Recommended and loved by locals (at least the ones we know), we stopped by early Saturday morning. There was a constant flow of customers lining up to order as well as those who pre-ordered on their phone (a great option!) Their menu was pretty extensive so please check it out before getting in line because they have a process! First step in and place an order for food at the marketplace counter. I happened to browse Yelp and found this impressive picture of The Italian Sandwich (which was not on the menu) that looked amazing. When I ordered, the lady at tue counter had no idea what it was so I was going to give up and go back to the drawing board but she pulled one of the chefs to ask if they knew what I was asking for. He did! So she wrote up my order and handed me a carbon copy of it to line up and pay at the cash register. This is where you order your drinks. I ordered non-sweet black tea and she gave me black coffee. I don't blame her since speaking through a mask can be hard to understand. When I clarified she quickly replaced my drink. We waited for our orders and man I did not except the hefty sandwich I was handed. The bun (roll) could barely contain its contains. Loaded, and I mean loaded with (top to bottom) Tomatoes, Lettuce, Provolone, Ham, Soppressata, Sweet Capocollo, red bell peppers. I cannot tell you how big that thing was. One bite and the meat stack threatened to pop out of the bun. The red bell peppers on the bottom bun was flavored and added a new blast of flavor to the otherwise meaty sandwich. This was actually different than what the OG helper had posited since the only veggies they had was arugula. Outside seating: a few tables are available and you can easily pull tables together to form seating for bigger groups. One warning: while we were there, a very angry man walked by and started to cuss out people who were eating there. A local told us that he's harmless and just to not engage. He did however walk up to every table to give them an earful of cussing and spoke a language I did not understand. But it felt really intense and there was a lot of spitting as he shouted. He scared off a wave of diners and walked off but later came back. This is absolutely outside of the restaurants control and not their fault but thought I should warn you that this may happen if you chill outside at this location. Bagel pub was really good. I came here 2x during my stay in Brooklyn and I ordered the #1 and #2 lox sandwiches. The biggest difference was the avocado imo. The lox was plentiful and fresh. I haven't had many authentic nyc bagels so the amount of lox was a tad overwhelming for me but still delicious. I would recommend if you're in the mood for ample amounts of fish. Portions are huge. Bagel Pub is literally a part of my life routine. I go pretty much every Saturday I love it that much. Tbh I'm shocked the average rating isn't higher. Expect a wait and to stand in line for a bit, especially on a weekend in the summer. It's just what happens when places are good. The line moves fast, there's just a lot of people. I usually do an everything bagel toasted with scallion (v classic) but something about the texture and consistency of their bagel is just perfect and doughy. I'm in the camp that there's never too much cream cheese and they always do me right. When I feel like diverging, I get pumpernickel everything which is also delicious. My favorite alternative cream cheese is the Za'atar (which I've never seen anywhere else) and also the scallion Lox is delicious. For a sweet taste, I love their cinnamon raisin with the honey cherry cream cheese. They also have great drinks. Their chai latte is exactly what I want my chai to taste like (sweet but not overpowering), the watermelon lemonade is great, and all the fresh pressed juices are good. Bagel pub is definitely special. Both the Park Slope and Crown Heights locations, but Crown Heights especially. Bagels are well-made and just the right amount of chewy. Cream cheese selection ranges from the traditional to avant-garde, just like Crown Heights itself! A toasted pumpernickel everything bagel (you read that correctly) with za'atar cream cheese (also exists) puts just the right amount of spin on a timeless classic. The ABC (avocado, bacon, cheddar) sandwich is life changing on an egg everything. I have to take one star off because service just can vary wildly and doesn't seem to be crowd-dependent. Sometimes it's busy and I get my bagel right away. Sometimes it's empty and it takes a million years (feels that way when you're hungry). This place is like the baskin robbins of bagel shops. There's so many options I really don't see how you can go wrong here. Went midday on a weekday so there wasn't a long line. I got the chicken salad which was really good BUT I spoke to some other customers and got some tips on taking a fire bagel. Many people will order a classic like BEC and add something like their chipotle or jalapeño cream cheese . Or you can create your own bagel but I think the key to this place is including one of their delicious cream cheeses to it always . The bagels here are always delicious and the employees are very kind and efficient. They have a plethora of cream cheese, delicious hot sandwich options, a smoothie bar and a coffee counter. Make sure to be very clear if you're ordering a vanilla latte because they have a signature banana latte which is NOT for me and very startling if you think you're about to sip a delicious vanilla latte.... I am not giving them 5 stars particularly for their app that they're encouraging us to use during COVID to minimize waiting inside and wait time (which is great!!). If you want any to modify any beverage order, the app doesn't work; they don't have milk options, and for some reason, they don't have their vanilla latte listed (which is delicious, by the way). I will not be going to this place again. I have been here frequently and the service is worse than last time. The employees are always having personal conversations with each other instead of waiting on the customers. While the bagels are good is not enough to to keep going back and experiencing waiting to get someone to take my order. I understand the time when there is a lot of people ordering, but when an the first of 3 people and you have atleast a dozen employees working, I shouldn't have to wait close to 5 min to place my order. The employees will looked you right in the face as they ignore you to go have a personal conversations with another employee. Every employee needs to be retrained on customer service. If I could give this place ZERO rating I would. That's how bad my experience has been everytime I visited. read more

i only tried two bagel places on my trip but bagel pub was my favorite! the bagels are huge with a thicker exterior and soft and chewy on the inside. i went with the blueberry bagel and strawberry cream cheese. the cream cheeses in their were beautiful. piled high with toppings mixed in and loaded on top. my bagel was amazing and the cream cheese was delicious with chopped up strawberries in it. my sister got a plain bagel with pumpkin cream cheese (which i tried and was good). they were ready in under 5 minutes which was nice. next time i come i want to try some of their desserts they looked amazing behind the case. read more

Sorry the people making negative reviews on here seem to be just bitter about the wait times. Good things take time. Stop being babies. Especially when the smears look like this (see picture below). I've tasted every single bagel shop In Manhatten, this is hands down the best tasting bagel in NYC. They get all the consistencies right - not too chewy, crisp on the outside but not too crisp that it zaps the flavor, and their smear options are insane and taste the best - oh and they don't skimp. These are menus in the back of the restaurant where there are sandwiches, soups and salads to choose from. Some of the prices are a a bit excessive, like .50 extra for a roll when you get a non egg sandwich. My friend had a salad (looked nice), I had a cafe au lait (pretty good). The bagels are not that good. They are *nothing* special. As a born and raised NYer (which means handmade bagels are literally a part of my DNA), this place really is nothing to sing home about, and neither are the bagels or the fillings. Had this been in person, I would def have left.) IN THE END: I HAD TO WAIT AN HOUR FOR A BAGEL. A PRE MADE BAGEL. With generic toppings on it. ***AND AFTER ALL THAT, THEY 1. FORGOT THE SAUSAGE 2. DIDNT SEASON THE VEGGIES 3. Didn't include any of the sauces I asked for. (I ordered via an app, and when I saw there was a long wait, I called the restaurant and asked them to cancel and refund the order. I wandered into Bagel Pub per a recommendation from a friend. AMBIANCE I really like what they've done with the space. Reminds of an elevated deli space. Their chalk board is really well written as well. It just feels very BK. The owners are mad nice too. I saw a guy forget his wallet, but he's a regular so the guys just him slide for the day. Good sign if someone comes every single day. FOOD I went with an ABC on an everything. Egg, avocado, bacon, egg, cheese. So I really got the works. The bagel itself was done right. I always love a good kettle boiled bagel, and their everything is a really solid choice. The ingredients tasted fresh, as they're made in house every day. OVERALL Can't complain. $9 for a bagel is a little steep, but I did get the works on it. I'd come back here if I'm in the area again. Good people, good food, good space. read more

However of the last 3 times I ordered here, they got my order wrong 3 times. My partner and I used to come quite a bit. However, we recently ordered online and when we received the order, half of it was missing. When we reached out, they implied that the delivery person removed it from the bag and refused to reimburse us. I resent that they blamed the delivery person (especially when we received the order, it was stapled shut). While I like the bagels, if you have issues, there is no recourse (beware to anyone ordering online!). And I don't think it speaks well to the character of the business when they falsely accuse the delivery person. It seems to me they simply forgot half the order, but don't want to own up to it. It doesn't seem worth the trouble anymore and this is New York; there are always other bagel places with better attitudes. We will be going elsewhere. read more
