Ordered the chicken avocado on a croissant. Excellent! Actually used the Yelp app to order for the first time. Slick! Server at window was very friendly and explained how to pull around and wait for my order. Love the front patio with cascading flowers.

Not a bad bagel sandwich at all! Some of the out of towner reviews seem a little dramatic. Yeah, it's no NYC bagel, but I live in LA and you can't get NYC bagels there either. Even my Brooklyn-born husband said "not bad" but he wanted more flavor in his Everything bagel. I got a Sesame bagel and it was fresh and soft. Good flavor, but the bite wasn't chewy. Great portion size if you're hungry. Also got a hot cocoa and sat and talked for a while, there was no rush getting us out. Good quick breakfast option on the go or if you want to stay a while. Parking can be a little tight. We came Monday morning and couldn't get a spot.

7/3/23: cheesy tortilla soup is delicious. The Bagel Place, Amarillo

Soup service starts at 11a.m. Three soups! Taos is a chili-like mix, sounds delicious. I chose cheesy tortilla soup with a sun-dried tomato bagel. Soup is delicious, with tortilla strips, corn, bits of hand pulled chicken, and piping hot. Nice folks, helpful and professional. Easy parking lot parking.

The soup and sandwiches were tasty. The salmon bagel I personally didn't like, the salmon was too salty for me, it made me physically sick. Other than that, the service and ambiance were really nice.

We're new to the area, so we're excited to see what the Amarillo scene has to offer. I took my son for breakfast on a Wednesday morning. It was busy but they have a good system of taking orders and moving to the next customer. They were very inviting and helpful. My son ordered the breakfast bagel with a French Toast bagel. Lots of great bagel choices. He loved it so much (see picture ) I, unfortunately, have dietary restrictions, so I ordered the breakfast burrito with no tortilla. No problems accommodating this request. It was so good. (See picture). I brought the Lox Bagel home for my wife, who always chooses this at every place that offers. She had it on the onion bagel, which she said was delicious, but the salmon was a bit "fishy". Not sure what the sourcing of the salmon was, but not sure what you can expect from a place far from the ocean . I grabbed a coffee as well. It was great to see so many options for the self-serve coffee station. I, myself, don't like flavored coffee, but if you do, great options here, along with regular and decaf options. It has a cafe feel to the place, so it feels comfortable and nothing too fancy. Locals were kind and engaged my son and I in a few of their conversations. Overall, great experience and we'll be taking the rest family there real soon!

Breakfast burrito was huge!

Living in Amarillo for about a week, I learned a lot about the culture of the city and its two…read moremajor coffee chains. I always find it interesting how many medium sized cities have a localized coffee chain that is so deeply rooted in the community. In Round Rock, it is Lamppost. In Amarillo, it is Roasters. There are quite a few Roasters locations in Amarillo, but the true OG is located off Georgia Street. I got there around 8:30 in the morning and it was capital B busy. Every table except one was occupied and the drive thru was wrapping around the building. By the time I got inside, I only had a short wait before ordering. I ordered a simple vanilla latte with oat milk in a medium size, along with a pumpkin spice muffin. For how busy it was, I was expecting to wait a while, but they churned drinks out pretty quickly. The barista even signaled to me to come grab the drinks for my girlfriend and me because I did not believe they had been made that fast. The coffee itself was pretty good. It leans on the sweeter side and is more focused on flavor than being espresso forward. It is clear why this place is such a staple in Amarillo. I also really liked that they had coffee sleeves that looked like Christmas sweaters and flannels for the season. It was a cute touch. It is a cute space and feels pretty traditional. One random thing I noticed was the pictures of Ronald Reagan on the walls. I do not know the reason or if it is some sort of long running joke, but it exists, along with books about Reagan scattered around the shop. There is only one single use bathroom, so on a busy morning it can take a bit if you need to use it. Every day, Roasters offers a coffee of the day on drip. I went to another location later in the week and tried it there as well, and it was good too. I think Roasters is a great option for coffee in the area and proves why it has been a staple for Amarillo residents since the 1990s. Regardless of the Reaganomics for whatever reason, Roasters can trickle down some coffee. RIYL: coffee and pictures of Ronald Reagan

I had the imposter with breaded mushrooms. Super crispy Cremini mushrooms with great crunch but the rest was kinda meh, romaine and drizzle of sauce and balsamic. At least with the pickled onions there was a little palate tease. Also tried the Al pastor with jackfruit. Opted for this version on a salad and it's a whopping serving size. Hearty serving of jackfruit with plenty of sauce and dressing. Had nice little nibs of some crunch too. Service was super, super nice. I'd call the inside dive-ish. Totally relaxed and chill ambiance. I'll be back to try more items! My one dislike was that I don't care for the balsamic drizzle on either dish... just doesn't pair well with these flavors. Side of pineapple was yummy to balance the heaviness of both dishes.

For lunch during one of my days visiting Amarillo, I tried Yellow City Street Food off Wolflin. Inside, the space is cute. They have yellow chairs, pink walls, and cool artwork scattered throughout. When we ordered, the server was very helpful with recommendations and helped us land on what we ultimately chose. They also have a chef's daily special that rotates every day, and you never really know what he could be cooking up. The day we went, the special was Pad Kee Mao, which my girlfriend ordered with their fried tofu. As for me, I got their tacos. The first was their Hulk with jerk chicken, cotija, pineapple, and more, and the second was their Al Pastor with pork, crema, chile rojo, and more. Both came out looking fantastic and were absolutely crushed by me. One thing I noticed on their menu is their vast selection of vegan options. Most meat options usually have a vegan alternative with a specific replacement for the meat. For the Hulk, it's chickn soy curls, and for the Al Pastor, they use jackfruit. It's super innovative and very welcoming to vegan and vegetarian diners. I really like this approach instead of throwing the same meat substitute on everything. Knowing what works best with each dish can really make or break it. We also ordered a side of their Salt and Pepper Fries to share, which were well cooked, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I enjoyed the pepper seasoning on these quite a bit. To drink, we tried their blueberry pomegranate tea, which was delicious. I really liked my food here and, of all the places I tried in Amarillo, I would say this is definitely one of the best. It's unique without overdoing it, and you'll leave with a good meal in your stomach if you give them a shot. RIYL: Tacos, burgers, or honestly just about anything. They've got it all here.

The half order of fried mushrooms was great. My son enjoyed his two 5 oz steak filets, my wife was very pleased with her Prime Rib. I was disappointed with my rib eye, I had to trim off too much fat. The desert was delicious. Overall, don't expect a steak you would be served at a fine steakhouse, but definitely give the Steak Ranch a visit.

We ended up ordering the 1/2 lb Cheeseburger w Mac & Cheese & the 10 ounce Prime Rib w a side Caesar Salad. As mentioned above everything was absolutely fantastic! Our server, Estefania, did an excellent job of taking care of us despite it being a full house & the prices were more than fair ( 2 Entrees, 2 sides & 3 Cocktails ) for $ 100.37. We liked everything so much we came back for Breakfast the following morning & that was terrific as well.
