I usually have pretty good experiences at bagel buffet. but this morning was ridiculous. I place my order online 1 hour before I arrive, When I get there. Not only is my order not ready, but it is WRONG, who ever heard of a bacon egg and cheese sandwich with no egg???. And to top it all off the cashier had a bad attitude. To the extent that she actually threw the bag at me........I couldn't stay and handle her and her little attitude because I was running late for work. Stay away from the salads! my romaine lettuce was far from green (old). My cucumber literally still had dirt on it and was never washed. I paid 1.55 extra for avocado and got a tiny slice. You would think waiting over an hour for 2 salads to come 10 blocks it would be amazing. I was wrong!! read more

My go to breakfast spot for just about anything breakfast or lunch. I'm a regular and this is by far my favorite bagel store in the area.

I've been coming here for a few years now for a bagel and coffee from time to time. Today I stopped in for lunch. Ordered tuna on a toasted everything bagel and an Arizona Iced Tea. Total came to $9.04 with tax. Very steep for something very simple. I can just imagine how much it would have cost if I got the extras like the lettuce and tomatoes. Overpriced gouging of customers. A veggie cream cheese plain bagel (with a thin layer of cream cheese) and Tropicana OJ runs almost $7, elsewhere the same would cost $5 and give you a layer of cc to bite into. It seems they are carrying too much overhead, such as rent and the dozen employees in uniforms to lower any costs. read more

Great bagel place, plenty of options. They seem to have a system down, however on the day that we came it took over 10 minutes for 2 bagels with cream cheese so something went wrong that day. I'll try it again, as the bagel were great. read more

This place has really good food,but at lunch they don't have a clue. Many times myself and fellow co-workers have ordered from here and we tell them we need it around 11:15am, and they say it will be ready. Today I went and the order wasn't ready until 12:00. The order was given to them at 10:40,and I was assured it would be ready for 11:15. I go there in the morning and they move. Lunch even as early as 11:15 the service isn't good at all. Our office has tried more than once to order lunch from here and get the full complete order but it has not happened. They not only keep getting the order wrong one at least one thing they always forget something. When you call about it, the delivery person is rude when having to return and bring the food paid for that they forgot. They have no attention to detail and for what they charge they need to pay more attention. After 3 failed attempts there will be no more ordering from here and all should be careful when considering this place too. read more

Stopped by on the way to new york to get a cinammon and raisin bagel and regretted the decision on the first look of my bagel. I ordered it with strawberry cream cheese and when I got it and opened it up, it was hard to decide whether they had added the bagel to the cream cheese or the other way around. I scraped enough of it off to spread on at least 4 other bagels! The cream cheese was mediocre in taste which is more than I can say for the bagel which was absolutely tasteless. Couldn't taste the cinammon or the raisins and after forcing myself to eat half of it I ended up throwing the rest out. I hate to waste food and money so that tells you how bad my bagel was. Food is always really good. Bagels are awesome. I even have requests, from friends who have moved out of Secaucus, for me to bring them a few dozen when i visit. Sandwiches are always really good...and their catering platters are perfect for business meetings, inservices...etc. My only complaint is that they are pricey...makes you sometimes think twice if you are really craving their food. read more

Bagels are huge, fresh and the real thing--Many flavors are available. Lots of salads and cream cheese mixes make it hard to choose what you want. Solid coffee service and the "place to be" in the morning. read more

Bagel Buffet is one of the only places in Secaucus that will deliver breakfast so we often order delivery from here. I also used to go here after working the night shift to pick up a breakfast sandwich. In the past couple of years the prices have increased quite a bit and the service and product has gone downhill. The draw here has always been the bagel. What used to be a huge Jersey bagel is slowly getting smaller and smaller. It still tastes ok but not worth the price. Bagel sandwiches are hit or miss. With online ordering you have the option to click and choose exactly what you want on your bagel and how you want it (lightly toasted, etc). It's printed out right in front of them and still I've had my order incorrect. When ordering in person many of the staff seem grouchy and not at all into customer service. You stand on line forever and wait forever to claim your order. The Panini offered all sound pretty good. But they aren't. I'll never order one from here again. Today I ordered two sandwiches and clicked lightly toasted. They're both burnt to charcoal on the edges of the sandwich. I cut off what I could of the first one and tried to give it to the dog who looked at me like, "yeah right". Black. The meat and Panini bread were black. If I'm spending $8-$10 for a sandwich I expect to be able to actually eat it. But let me be clear, I am basing my disgust on the Panini based not only on today's order but also on past Panini orders. They arrive almost always a mess and falling apart in the container. Maybe it is because of the delivery person but since this happens all the time I don't think that's it. Another pet peeve is sending the incorrect drink. Again, you have the option to ask for a specific drink with online ordering. Still I almost always get the wrong iced tea with my order. Many of us grew up with Bagel Buffet and find it a shame that it's just not the same place anymore. Sad. read more

I'm really disappointed to write a negative review about this place because I have been going there for almost 20 years, but I've just had enough. Almost every time I place an order for delivery (sometimes in store orders too) it is messed up in a way that costs me multiple dollars. This wouldn't be an issue if it happened infrequently. Today I ordered a salad that cost way too much. The salad was so expensive because I ordered several "toss-ins". When I received the salad, half of the toss-ins (that I paid an unbelievable amount for) were not included. This kind of thing happens all the time. I didn't even call to complain this time because I'm just done. Sometimes, when ordering online, I even write in the additional comments, "please include ALL additional toss-ins". But it's ridiculous to have to remind the person making the salad to read the ingredients slip. Also, it's insulting to someone who actually does the job carefully. Honestly, the service in Bagel Buffet is sloppy and careless at best. This is coming from a once die-hard Bagel Buffet fan too. So disappointing. :( read more

I have been going to bagel buffet for 3 years since I started working in the area.... for the longest time it was a go to place but it has been gradually declining every time I visit. I really should have written a review each time I was disappointed. Unfortunately the one time I spoke to a manager I received an attitude back. Like a lot of you on here, I have worked in the food service industry and understand that I may be searching for a reason to write this but I've put it off with the idea that NEXT TIME would be better. The staff lacks attention, smiles and pace. Everyone looks MISERABLE to be working there. It seems its a revolving door of new employees and most of the time they do not know the menu. Today I ordered the Spinach and Feta omelet. I received a sausage omlete...and it was handed to be by the woman who took my order. I was happy enough to be greeted right away. They'll ignore customers ready to order if they are doing anything, even talking. Not even a "good morning, we'll be right with you." 2 weeks ago I arrived at 8am, and they had no coffee ready! How does a breakfast bagel shop run out of coffee with four machines and 6 flavor coffee pots ready? Little things add up when there's something new every time. Last, they have employees not using gloves when handling food when their kitchen is OPEN to the customers. behind closed doors whatever, out of sight out of mind, but come on, this place misses the simple details. There are other issues...but that's enough.. if there was another bagel shop on my way to work, id stay FAR AWAY from this place. This has been a breakfast stop for my son and I over the past three years or thereabouts. It is local which is a plus. I do think they are well overpriced with everything offered. Coffee is alright, nothing to brag about quite frankly. Bagels appear rather smaller than anticipated (economic-down sizing I suppose) and the pricing for bagels is higher than in other bagel places. My experiences have been hit or miss with some being above average, to on par, to just okay. My son agrees and mentioned he has had better from Bagel Buffet in the past, but none of his experiences were awful. We both recently got back there to have lunch, and it seems to have gotten more expensive. We ordered a plain bagel (dry) not toasted, a tuna sandwich, a diet coke with lime, and a minute maid pink lemonade. I did not order lettuce on my tuna sandwich nor did I bother asking. My son made remarks about the price being higher and I agreed. $5.50 for a tuna sandwich? Come on, you can certainly do a lot better! It was alright, but nothing impressive. The buffet is clean, not overly clean but good enough. The drinks are cold which is a plus, coffee as mentioned is alright at any time of the day. Have not tried anything else there so far. Because of the area, that might be why everything is more expensive than at other places, but I do not think it is worth it when another option is available. No complaints with service, or else that might be enough to make me stop trying this place. There have been some good experiences here which convinced me to go back, but it is not always at the same time of day. If you are looking for coffee, or something light then maybe it is worth stopping for if you are on the go. But otherwise it is really up to you and your opinion about Bagel Buffet. I will give them another chance that hopefully will be a hit, and if it is the same then there will be a different place out there worth the expense. You just have to give different places more than one chance to see how everything is and that speaks for itself. read more
