I am really bummed that Badfish coffee & tea decided to abruptly close their business permanently. I receive a text from the business the night before saying they will be permanently closing both locations as of 2pm on 05/30/25. There was never any explanation just they are closing. I arrive to patronize them one last time and they have a note of the door that they are closed. Many people showed up and this was at 11:45am the doors locked and staff inside saying they are closed, but why sent out a text the night before saying you are opened until 2pm? I will miss this little family owned shop the coffee and tea was always delicious whether hot or cold. The staff always smiling and helpful and would always give recommendations on seasonal drinks. Fair Oaks really lost a gem here. read more

Lovely bright and open space local cafe. Seating for about 20 ppl inside. There is outside seating as well. It appears to not have any heating units for the outside. Shared table seating or small couch seating area near the entrance. The vibe was hipster country chick. The service was friendly and the coffee was hot but not scalding. They have a few pastries which looked delicious but we had not ordered any. The coffee itself was delicious and we could taste the distinct flavors. We ordered the gingersnap latte ($7.5) and pistachio latte ($8) w/ oat milk. Loved that they had pistachio on the menu as it is not a common flavor to have. Price point was a bit on the higher side, something I'd expect from a city cafe. I would definitely come again next time I'm in the area. read more

Was highly recommended by a friend in the area as they said this place made them the best cappuccino and said I ought to try this place. I ordered a coffee off their seasonal winter menu and got a pistachio latte hot with oat milk. It was $8 which was super high for a small latte and I tipped $1 so $9 for coffee that didn't taste like pistachio and it wasn't even super hot which was rather disappointing and upsetting because it just tasted like a regular plain coffee. Great whip however and homemade which I appreciate . This isn't a place I would frequent if I'm spending $8 for a coffee each time- Talk about breaking the bank. Also temperature wise it wasn't even super hot- like a kids temp kinda hot but warm. I took a few sips and was over it. My first sip my friend suggested I go back to get more flavoring because I was like wow it doesn't taste at all like pistachio and I was like let's just go since they were in a rush. While I was waiting on my order they did lift the tub of pistachio flavoring and said were low on pistachio but I hoped that was after doing mine. I was expecting a strong flavor maybe topped with some crushed nuts? But no, it definitely fell flat. I would have given 2 stars but I was impressed with their menu options as far as other latte flavors outside the Winter menu and the place seems to be trendy and popular with locals. The service was good and they have a rewards system. I am down to try again and make another executive decision off a second drink, but they either need to add more pistachio flavor or take it off because I shouldn't have to come home and doctor up a $9 drink. Easily the best place to get quality coffee in Fair Oaks, Badfish has almost everything that I love in an independent coffeehouse. Almost. It's missing plant-based pastries like you can get in just about any of the coffeehouses in Midtown. But the coffee [from local roaster Chocolate Fish] is well-balanced and delicious here. The seasonal drinks are creative and often feature housemade syrups, which I also appreciate. You can't go wrong with one of those. Service is friendly (which is pretty mandatory in Fair Oaks Village) and the vibe here is relaxed with both indoor seating and on the patio. Bonus for the comfy couch, which is a true coffeehouse must in my book. It's a great vibe at Badfish and one that I frequent. Definitely recommend. read more

They offer a variety of coffee, teas, smoothies and eats including a TON of vegan options (we got the vegan maple donut which was DELICIOUS)! The crew that works here is extremely nice and helpful! A great in between place to meet up between Roseville and Elk Grove for a weekend coffee catch up! The seasonal lattes are very fun and I loved the maple gingery one I got (forgot what it was called). The apple fritter was also delicious and a good morning snack to go with our coffee. There was lots of street and dedicated parking when we got there around 10:30am on a Saturday. Inside was very busy but there was still lots of outdoor seating. It did end up filling up a lot half an hour after though! It can get really popular here, but I can see why. Also lots of cute puppers around the outside seating area!!!!! First came here on a Friday morning and they were quite busy and packed. Thankfully my friend and I were still able to find a seat inside. I got the lavender latte. There wasn't that much sweetness to it. During my most recent visit, I ordered online which was really convenient. I got the iced chai and it was really good. I could really taste the spices. I've visited the Gold River/Fair Oaks area frequently for work over the last several years, and have spent most of my time closer to the interstate at the various chain stores. Next time I'm visiting I'll be sure to come a little further north to Badfish in Fair Oaks Village. Excellent coffee and food. A limited menu focused on quality. A friendly ambiance. Free parking. I have been to the other Badfish location a long time ago and wasn't super impressed but I think I ordered the wrong thing. Definitely stick to coffee! Today I ordered one of their holiday specials, the candy cane lane latte. It has dark and milk chocolates and a house peppermint syrup. It was so tasty! The housemade syrup was perfect because it didn't taste too artificial like at your typical chain coffee place. The interior is really nice too with tables and seating to choose from, and a large patio area if it's not too cold out. The line got a little backed up so it was a bit crowded for a second but they were taking orders efficiently so we didn't wait in line too long. The staff were all nice and a lot were working so even though it was a busy Saturday morning, our drinks came out pretty quickly. read more

If you're a true coffee lover, you have to check out this place. I've been to the Orangevale location a while back and I still remember how good my latte was. This was the first time visiting this location and it's very cozy inside but has ample space and a good amount of seating. I got a peppermint mocha and it was just right...not too sweet, creamy with deep chocolate flavor. I also got the Fair Oaks bridge sandwich which was so delicious. Highly recommend that yummy sandwich. Service is great and they use Chocolate Fish coffee which is a local favorite of mine. Can't wait to come back to try more menu items. read more

White mocha 8/10 - One of the better drinks I've had from this place. It was perfectly sweet and even after a few hours, the flavor was still super good. Definitely getting this one again Sweet Latte 6/10 - Not sweet at all, coffee flavor wasn't anything to note about. Wouldn't get it again. Food: Breakfast Burrito 7/10 - Average breakfast burrito. We were in Sacramento for two days and we went to Badfish coffee both days. It was that good. We had excellent service and the ambiance is a great Lowkey coffee shop. We tried a couple different things on the menu, but my personal favorite was the hot Mocha and Iced Mocha. My gf LOVED her drinks which were the caramel latte and the lavender latte. My brother in law got the uptown girl which was a special drink with matcha that he liked a lot. Give this place a try if you live in the area or if you're anywhere near it because it was so good we had to come multiple times. read more

Atmosphere is good, parking lot is huge. Interior is nice, love the plants. Fairly small place with limited seating inside but the outside patio is nice with that summer breezes. Staff was very friendly taking the order. We got a matcha latte with oat milk and my bf got a cappuccino. My matcha tasted great, especially with the vanilla flavor added, but it was especially pricey because of the milk alternative and added syrup. Also wish I asked for a little less ice. My bf's cappuccino came out really nice with pretty art, but he said the milk tasted acrid and possibly over-steamed. We love that they use coffee from Chocolate Fish, real local stuff. Badfish Coffee & Tea in Fair Oaks is a sweet little spot. Located at the top of the hill if you're coming from the American River Bike Trail, this is the perfect spot to stop and have some libations before continuing onto Folsom Lake, or turning around and going home. There's plenty of outdoor seating, but choose your spot carefully because not every seat is shaded equally, and in the summer, this can be a hot mistake. I got the Superfood Latte, which was really not a hit for me. A week later, I still can't figure out what the heck was going on with that drink. It tasted kinda earthy and healthy. It might have been good with some sort of sweetener like honey, but to be honest, there was just a lot going on and none of it really worked together. It's great if you want something that tastes like health. I really liked this spot, even if I didn't like my choice of beverage. Will certainly be back to sample more items in the future. read more

First visit here to Badfish as it opened up recently located in historic Fair Oaks area called "The Fair Oaks Village". Such a great location and my experience was definitely a good one. Ordered my usual (for anywhere) iced green tea. Smooth tasty and arrived quickly. So many bakery options which is always welcome. Got a double chocolate scone from the good selection of cookies, bagels, and other treats. Fresh and a nice change. A draw to a place for me is something unique that others similar places do not offer. As I got to lots of tea places, this is important as I decide where to go each day. Seating if inside and out on a great patio. There is a bench by the window if waiting for you order, a comfy chair and couch, and two big group tables with plush chairs inside. Love the options here and still a good location. Previously, The Olive Branch, which has since closed with this local chain taking over the nice location. Parking lot next to the shop makes for plenty of place to park your vehicle. read more

Super cool place and amazing drinks and food. We had a plant-based chocolate smoothly and avocado toast -- we both agreed we could have that three times a day! Nice selection of coffee drinks and smoothies, and a surprisingly varied menu of food as well. Spacious interior (outdoor seating also) that's inviting enough to want to hang for awhile ... except, and here's where one star is taken off, the music volume and selection are a bit off-putting. The space is set up so noise will carry, and punk-type music is not the right ambience-setter. I mean, we walked by a bar on the way here that had its doors open and they had "smooth jazz" playing haha. It's a small but notable complaint that's not unique to this place -- it seems more and more that stores, restaurants, coffee houses and the like are cranking music to help the employees get through their shift. While I can be sympathetic to that up to a point, everyone needs to remember what the business is all about. If you want people to get in and out in a hurry, by all means crank up to 11 the worst music imaginable and voila! No one will want to hang there except for the craziest of the crazies. But if you're inviting people to want to hang around, and maybe add to their order because the vibe is so cool, consider how the atmosphere you're setting either helps or hurts that goal. Okay, rant over. We'd definitely come back here...but we'll bring our earplugs just in case read more
