What a Bad Axe experience! We walked in about an hour before closing and Sebastian took great care of us throughout our time here. His quirky sense of humor and sharing his tips/expertise were enhancements to the experience. Seeing your throws bounce off the wood or go completely far off target is humbling. Hearing the thunk when your axe nails the board is rewarding. A decent selection of alcohol is available as well.

So for my birthday I wanted to try something new and this has been on my list to checkout. This place was really fun to experience if you've never done any axe throwing before. I booked an appointment there with some friends and we had a good time. It was our first time throwing axes & knifes and we really enjoyed ourselves. The coach there made explaining how to throw really easy and even improved our throwing during the experience. We started getting competitive once we started hitting the board. Also too since they serve alcohol it made our time much more enjoyable. I definitely would recommend this place to check out and the service there was good.

We had an amazing time! My friend and I were walking ins. We went in at like 6pm...? On Saturday. We were helped within minutes despite it being super busy. Sebastian took a lot of time and care teaching us how to throw knives and axes. He rocked the poncho and he rocked our experience. He was an amazing host. I felt like such a bad axe! Yes, I said it. A bad Axe. I can assure you I am not--I enjoy sewing and crocheting. I just so happened to hit the bullseye a few times...luck!?! Axe throwing is something everyone can do and is located in downtown Long Beach not too far from Pike outlets. No reservations were made prior to visiting but the group I arrived with had no issues entering. Walk-ins welcomed. Let's kick axe! The place was clean and tidy. It also felt like a safe and fun space. Traditional axe, big axe, and knife throwing. They also have axe throwing leagues. The axes are high quality; It is like dart throwing, but next level. A throwing coach set up everything and left us with a few instructions--thanks Chad. I had so much fun throwing and watching the axe stick to the wooden wall. Everyone gets 45 minutes per session and time flew by. As they say, "unleash your inner warrior!" "Time is not refundable use it with intention!" Tips: Metered parking Walk-in times specified weekly

We had such a blast axe throwing! The whole experience was exciting and well-organized, but what really made it stand out was our coach, Sebastian. He was amazing--super patient, encouraging, and had the perfect mix of fun and skill (even though he says he doesn't practice much but hits every single shot with ease.) He made sure we were safe while still keeping the energy high and the laughs going. Highly recommend this place, and if you get Sebastian as your coach, you're in for a great time! Leroy Jenkins on the other hand, terrible guy. Wouldn't recommend visiting with him

While cruising down Pine Street, we spotted Bad Axe Throwing and decided to check it out after grabbing a few beers across the street. On short notice, they were able to accommodate a birthday group of seven huge props for that alone! The staff was super helpful, making sure everyone got set up quickly and offering easy tips so we could all join in and have fun. It's an awesome spot to hang out, toss some axes, and enjoy a laid-back, walkable downtown vibe. Highly recommend stopping by have a beer and let an axe fly!

Great date night spot! Quinn was great at instructing our group how to safely throw and handle the axe. We learned how to throw overhead, under hand, double axe, and two handed. We had a great time and highly recommend this spot for a group event or date night.

This was a lot more fun than expected. Someone I knew made reservations for about 25 of us. Upon coming I only knew that we had to wear closed-toe shoes. They had us sign electronic waivers and show that we were over 18 to participate. Checking in was fairly quick. The super friendly and helpful staff went over the rules and gave us tip and tricks on how to throw our axes. We were able to bring in food and non-alcoholic drinks. They had a bar inside if you want to purchase alcohol. The guys working here were really nice and helped us each how to throw it to get bullseye. Our group got really competitive and there were lots of laughs. We all had an awesome time and I would definitely recommend it for parties and large gatherings.

If you just want to try ace throwing, it's perfect. If you want a party/high energy atmosphere, maybe don't go axe throwing. Lol The actual axe throwing was really fun once you figure it out. As far as the overall experience, it's just fine. I think it's because the nature of axe throwing is so dangerous that you don't want to "party" like you think you will, cause you're being careful (as you should). The drink selection is fine, but it would have been helpful if there was an actual sound system so the music was louder. Again, would recommend if you just really wanta try axe throwing. They might have been off their game since it was an event, but that shouldn't excuse any lack of safety. They went over four rules but there should have been more. Lots of people bumping into you when you're about to throw, shouldn't one of the rules be to give room to people when they're throwing? Other places I've been have had a line where people shouldn't cross unless they're throwing, seems like a simple rule that can be implemented. Another issue is that as I was picking up an axe, one of the instructors instructed the lane next to me to throw. This goes against one of their rules of "don't throw when someone is on the black part." If the staff can't follow any of their own rules, how am I supposed to feel safe? Two "coaches" doesn't seem like enough for the size of the event we were at (one of them was in charge of tending bar and safety waivers). Sebastian said he really didn't care if we followed the rules since we "signed the waiver," I understand the sentiment but it gives no confidence that others can practice safety even if I follow the rules. read more

When I went into Bad Axe I had thrown axes only once before and I was laughably bad (I missed the target and hit an entirely unrelated wall). Thanks to the guidance of Quinn, one of their coaches, I was able to learn some good techniques and get a few bullseyes! I was hesitant to try the two handed throwing technique because I've been bad at using two hands for dexterous tasks before but Quinn was able to show me how to properly throw and taught me about where to stand/how distance affects the rotation of the axe! I had such a fun time and I look forward to bringing my friends here in the future (if only so I can show off). read more

This is a nice place for either a rage room or an escape room…read more A few weeks ago, I did a rage room experience here, which was my first time doing a rage room. Marc, the owner, was very nice and kind. He even allowed me to do a special request where I wore an outfit (which is a Morpshuit with t-shirt and shorts) underneath the gear used for the rage room. Very kind of him to accommodate this. I have never done a rage room before, so it was a unique experience. Shattering glass, and breaking things felt very liberating and it helped me release tension/anger. Additionally, at the very end, there was even another surprise where Marc even taught me how to throw ninja stars on the wooden board. It was super cool. At first, I couldn't get any ninja stars to stick, but on one of my final attempts, I actually did get the ninja star to stick, which was awesome!! I was pretty elated that I was able to do that! Anyways, shout out to Marc the owner for being very nice and accommodating. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a cool, friendly place to do a rage room or an escape room. I should check out their escape rooms some time soon.

However, I noticed that axe throwing was definitely easier if the wood was newer and better maintained. Our wood was definitely worn out and axes were not sticking very well. Surprisingly this activity was more technique than strength so no worries if you're not strong. Definitely needs a lot of shoulder and wrist angling so watch out. There's a bar inside with light snacks and non-alcoholic options too. Also a merch area if you want to buy axe throwing merchandise lol. Lots of cool axe throwing games like "bowling", tic-tac-toe, or hitting moving targets on the wood screen.

We love how escape rooms now accommodate duos, and especially appreciate that rooms are now private, and we are able to be silly and competitive and immature with the people who matter. I mean, imagine being stuck on a schooner or deserted island with people you don't know - it would be a streaming series! Oh, wait ... Well, Back in Time is one of our favourite companies when it comes to escape rooms that are immersive and faithful to theme and story, but we're a little embarrassed to say that we were excited to try Blackbeard's Treasure because of a streamed show, excellent, though it be. Yes, we could have chosen to do this particular escape room because of the book(s), the movie, the theme park or the dinner adventure, but, no, it was Black Sails, just taken off that streaming service, that piqued our interest! The mall where we usually play Back in Time is under renovation, so we played our Friday afternoon game at their temporary space in a small strip mall not far away and just as easy to get to. Parking was good right outside at 3:30pm on Friday, which was their first game of day, and we arrived just about the same time as Harrison, our very enthusiastic game host, who had just escaped (haha) from the same traffic jam as we had. We were shown into the waiting room, and although this was not a permanent location, the lobby looked exactly as it did in the mall, and it was nice that the clean no-frills restroom was located at end of hallway inside the business instead of outside in the mall. Our entry into the game was heralded by a preview video which complemented what we knew about Blackbeard, especially fresh off Black Sails - but game (unlike TV series) was definitely family-friendly. The room was spacious for our duo, and would fit four in a group comfortably. On the whole, the room was a little dark, but the décor was in theme and music was ambient. Blackbeard's Treasure was a linear game, where most of the puzzles were one & done, even though there were some red herrings (of course, pirates ...). We categorise it as a 3G or third generation room, meaning it comprised a lot of use of magnets, but also a lot of nice old locks. Happily, there were no glitches at all, and everything worked to our success at 52:02. Our very favourite part of the game was being fired on by cannons, and although we wish we could understand the parrot - Captain Flint shore was purty! - we had no least favourite puzzles at all. Harrison was fantastic because she made sure we could read the clues on the in-room timer and clue screen when it was clear the bird was speaking in not an escape roomer's language! Everything made sense, and, once in the room, we didn't miss the mall at all. In fact, we took advantage of the promotion that allowed us to take photos in the room with props, and our gamemaster did a terrific job with both their camera (and thank you for getting the photo to us immediately!) and ours. It was a little more expensive, but worth it for the memories. This review has been posted on Google and Yelp.

I got my stroller, wheeler back to the car, and the seller left. The stroller wasn't fitting in my car. I tried to take off the wheels. I tried the trunk. I tried the backseat. I called my husband seven times, my parents twice each. I stood there in the parking lot googling videos and also trying not to panic because no one was answering. The Internet had said that the stroller would fit into a Corolla, so I had no idea why it wasn't working. No one in my family with our larger cars was picking up their phones or answering their texts. My friends that did respond and offer to help were forty minutes away, with their own toddler children. I couldn't accept that. So I waited and kept futilely fiddling with the stroller. One of the owners must have noticed that I was struggling, because she very kindly came over and asked me if I needed help. I sheepishly admitted that yes, I'm an idiot and could not seem to get the stroller into my car. She was patient and figured out that the double stroller actually folded twice. Then, she even helped me put it on the trunk. I can't even begin to express how thankful I am. I was so flustered, I didn't even catch her name. Seriously, I had been on the verge of tears because I was stranded and had no idea when my family would get back to me. She looked like the angel she was. Can't even begin to express my appreciation. Anyway, I highly recommend them. If anything, they are kind and attentive and the latter is pretty important when you're going to be around a bunch of flying axes. My family (family of 4) had a blast here! We stayed there for about 6 hours. We did the obstacle…read morecourse twice and rented 2 kayaks while we were there. Bought 3 food items and a gatorade. But we spent alittle over $300 there on everything! There is a $35 or $45 entrance fee depending on when you come. It's just to come inside the lagoon. If you want the obstacle course it's an additional $10 per person for 55 mins (super short). If you want to kayak, use the aqua bike or use the paddleboard it's an additional $10 per equipment/item. There is a kiddie area for small and young children. They DO NOT allow outside food or drinks except water! There is a small shop that sells misc. items, snacks & drinks (overpriced). They also had a foodtruck inside that was expensive and the meals didn't come with drinks. They do have plenty of staff and lifeguards there. The entrance fee should of been $15-20. The obstacle course atleast 90-120 mins instead of the 55 mins. Wish the foodtruck came with drinks and was a bigger portion.

But... all together I have used the facility one time and then had personal issues that prevents me from using it now. I did not see the 30 day notice and am paying because I did sign it. It seems much like grifting. There is no downside for the studio (not using equipment so no wear and tear) except the loss of my monthly payment. Perhaps this sounds like sour grapes but I truly do not understand this extra month of payment besides they must think they need my money worse than I do.
