I was invited to spend my Sunday afternoon doing of all things, ax throwing. At first, I wasn't thrilled about the idea but in my pursuit of finding creative ways to spend time and stepping out of my comfort zone, I quickly changed my attitude about it. We wound up at The Axe District and I have to admit, I had so much fun! I had never done anything like this before but Alex, our wonderful instructor showed us techniques so we could be successful at this. She explained the rules, was very thorough in her lesson and answered any questions we had. We were then on our own. After a few throws, I really got the hang of it and surprised myself at how decent I was. The games were all computer generated and it was easy to keep track of everyone's score. They had a variety of games - tik tac toe, darts, zombie hunter and a game where you can upload a picture of an Ex or an unsolicited Instagram picture DMd to you for no specific reason , to use as target practice until you get good at throwing ax's. The Axe District was clean, does not serve food/beverage but allowed you to bring your own. A friend brought a cooler filled with goodies and there was a taco vendor just outside on the sidewalk so we were able to have that as well. I also liked the music played - good variety from Faith No More, Van Halen (David Lee Roth era), De La Soul to Otis Redding; it wasn't too noisy so you could have a conversation. All in all, it was a great way to spend the afternoon and I'm glad I came. It was different, fun and a great introduction to ax throwing. I would come back. He was extremely patient with us and explained everything very thoroughly. He had great vibes and made sure our experience was 5 stars. The place is clean the ambiance is unmatched. I would leave 10 stars if I could! First time axe throwing and we had a phenomenal experience -- largely thanks to our coach, Jose. Jose was personable, welcoming, and incredibly helpful with tips that actually made us better throwers. Beyond that, he took time to chat with us and connect, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and fun rather than intimidating. He genuinely elevated the entire visit. Axe throwing alone was cool, but the added game features took it to the next level and kept things exciting the whole time. Great place to hold a corporate event!! From working with Jon and the guys at the location (I forgot their names but they were really great!!), the event was a hit with my staff. We did our event in early October and reached out to Jon. He was responsive and attentive to our needs for the event. I had no idea that axe throwing was a thing until my friend talked me into it. This is located in Torrance right across the defunct Alpine Village. While the area seems a bit dilapidated, once you walk in, you feel you're right at home. We had Nick help us out on how to throw sharp things at the wall and make sure the stick. We booked an hour, but because we were new to this and it was our first time, we got an extra half hour. We went on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't too busy. The vibe is chill. Water and Gatorade is available for snacks. Games are a lot of fun! I liked the Candy Crush game! Overall, I like trying different things. This is not normally something I would do on a Sunday, but I'm glad I did. I would do this again and highly recommend! read more

This place is AWESOME! I've been axe throwing once before at a place that was a full service bar/restaurant too so at first glance, I wasn't expecting much from The Axe District. But I was SO wrong. To start, gotta give a huge shout out to Alex who was our axe master. She was awesome - hilarious and super helpful. Again, I've been once before elsewhere and I think they just let us do our thing. With Alex, she actually taught us how to properly throw and I felt like I walked out of there actually knowing how to succeed in axe throwing. Huge kudos for that! This spot is also unique in that they have a bunch of games you can play so it isn't your typical target throw. They have Battle Ship, Duck Hunter, Tic Tac Toe, Zombie Hunter, and so much more. It was really innovative and it makes us want to come back ASAP. A few more huge points for this place were that their night time throwing has a party vibe and they give you glow sticks to match the ambiance. There's also a taco stand right outside! Finally, we found out they're affiliated with the escape room next door and you can get a discount at axe throwing if you go there first. Came here on a Saturday night with a group of 12. For many of us, it was our first time axe throwing and we had a lot of fun thanks to our instructor John. He was nice, patient, and gave good tips and instructions for us to have a good time. Personally I had a hard time getting my axe to stick, but after a couple tips from John, I got my axe to stick on the board! It was very satisfying. We had so much fun, our hour went by fast. We only went through 3-4 of the mini-games. If we ever get the chance, we'd love to come back and try some of the other mini games. This was my first actual legit axe throwing experience. And it was a lot of fun! Especially when you have great coaching from folks like John and Alex! My last and only experience was some half-baked set up at a brewery where the axes were kind of blunt and bent out of shape so I couldn't even stick one throw. Part of the reason why I chose this place was because I saw that they give you some pointers and tips on how to throw and I wanted to finally stick one. as a beginner, throwing axes at this place for one hour gave me a lot of confidence and provided me and the person I was with a fun and great experience. We both were landing a good amount of throws! (Again - thanks to John and Alex) Booking this place was pretty easy online. I made a reservation two nights before and it was really straightforward. Find this place was pretty easy to. It's located in the small strip mall so it's pretty hard to miss. We came in, sign the waivers, and then we were set up with the ability to choose a variety of different fun games. After a little coaching and given a few tips on how to throw we were ready to go. The two folks there, the night we went, were super friendly and we had a good time discussing and doing the throwing. I definitely would go back because I did have a lot of fun. I even got to learn how to do an underhand throw towards the end. I could see this being a great team building event place or just a place for a fun group night out. Amazing experience! I worked with The Axe District to host a company holiday party. I visited in person and chatted via email with the staff, and they answered every question we had. We got our reservation about a month in advance and everything in the booking process went very smooth. They were able to host our group of 40 comfortably (we had the whole space) and they went above and beyond with helping us set up a few extra chairs, a table for our food and prizes, and our own little photo booth. The two amazing staff members showed us how to properly throw and made sure to walk around and offer pointers! The game system was easy for us first timers to navigate and they had so many options to choose from! The staff was very attentive and even helped us clean up after our party. It looks pretty inconspicuous looking from the outside, but it's actually a nice and spacious axe throwing venue on the inside. We went on a Friday night with a reservation, we got in right away. There was another group that came in after, they had to wait for about 15/20 mins because the place was all booked up. I would recommend getting a reservation on the weekends if you want to visit! They don't really serve food/alcohol inside from what I gathered. They play some great tunes inside! And they have parking right in front of the place. Our instructor was John, who did a great job at showing us the basics of how to throw an axe. I was actually pretty bad at it, but it was still a whole lot of fun! I would 10/10 recommend. read more

Great little hidden spot in Carson. The axe district is one of the better places to learn since the staff is friendly enough to provide tips on how to improve your throws. They came by to check on us every now and then and made sure we were having a good time. What really made this experience stand out from my other axe throwing sessions is that they use projectors over the target board. The projectors provide games that simplify the experience and prevent the act from getting repetitive. Other places only provide the basic spray painted target and it's up to you to make sure to keep track of the score They could improve the experience by providing other objects to throw. There are a few different games available to play that are pretty entertaining, and a projector screen that was playing Harry Potter (allegedly, a Christmas movie ). The star of the experience though was Alex, our instructor. She was super cool and thoroughly entertaining, not to mention a good teacher. My son and I went to the Axe District tonight. It was both of our first times throwing axes. Our instructor was thorough, patient, and encouraging. Because we were one of the last groups there, he stayed with us for a bit and continued giving pointers. He stopped by several times to make sure we we didn't need any additional help. With just the two of us, we got to play several games in our hour. We played the standard target, Bottle crushers(?) (candy crush), Tic Tac Toe, Lineup 4 (Connect 4), and 21 (blackjack). Honestly, we enjoyed them all, but 21 can be a fast game because someone could potentially win with just 2 throws. If I were to just I think the standard game and bottle crushers were the best choices if you have limited time. What a great experience. Definitely recommend. read more
