We booked a private archery lesson for three friends today because it was only our second or third time shooting, and in our first couple of times (which were group classes), we didn't get much personalized instruction. This time, we really wanted to focus on improving our fundamentals, like stance and form. Coach Terry mainly guided one of our friends, while Coach Kevin worked closely with me and another friend. The lesson was supposed to last an hour, but we actually stayed for over an hour. The first 20-30 minutes were spent on warm-ups and detailed explanations, which really helped us build a solid foundation before moving on to shoot at different distances. Coach Kevin was amazing--he carefully observed our movements and gave us specific tips based on where our arrows landed. He taught us that stance comes first, then how to hold the bow, the right drawing hand position after aiming, and the importance of keeping everything smooth and in one motion. Even when we got tired toward the end, the coaches were very encouraging and helped us finish our final rounds properly. Overall, I think lessons like this are truly worth it. As beginners, having skilled instructors guide us step by step makes a huge difference. Everyone there was super friendly, and we'd definitely love to come back again. Highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to learn or just practice more seriously!

    Happy to be here!

This indoor archery facility is beautiful! They really created a welcoming environment. When you walk in, one side is where the archers shoot, and the other side is a large space where you can watch the action through very large windows. There's seating along the windows, as well as tables, chairs, and a couch. You want some coffee and refreshments? Walk on over to the coffee bar! It has such a warm feel as soon as you walk in. We've been a part of ADA since they opened their doors and my kids really love it here! We are here pretty much everyday (or as often as possible). Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced archer, Arrow Dynamic Archery is a place where you can come to learn and practice. No equipment? No problem. You can try out all types of bows and get guidance from the staff. You can take private or group lessons, or if you have some prior experience, swing by during open shoot and just practice. You can do archery just for fun, or become part of the competitive team. You can even have a birthday party there and have your guests learn archery! Archery is for everyone! See you there?

Finally, years later in the present, a local archery club referred me to Coach Byron Burkhardt and Trident Archery as a great place to learn. For a 'father-daughter date', we signed up for their intro class and had a great experience! Coach Byron and Coach Hawk (aptly named!) walked us and a dozen others of all ages through the basics. I quickly realized there was more to archery than simply 'nock and shoot'. Afterwards, my daughter expressed enthusiasm for more, and we signed up for Trident's Beginning Class, composed of 4-sessions. Spreading these out weekly, we've been attending, learning and having fun! Coach Byron is passionate about the sport, and it shows in his interesting insights, stories and taking time to answer my novice questions. During a prior class, we even got to shoot at the goblin (Or was it an orc - perhaps an Uruk-hai learner)? Eat your heart out, Orlando Bloom! Our plan is to advance to the 18-meter class (Intermediate level) and eventually earn the right to get our own bows. We are very happy with Trident, and highly recommend it for everyone (It is an activity for all abilities - one of the greatest archers in the world shoots with his legs and feet - he has no arms)!

Paul is extremely patient and encouraging and is focused on teaching proper form and developing good habits, while making sure my son enjoys the sport and is meeting his personal goals. My son has improved dramatically, not only by gaining more technical skills, but also by gaining confidence in his abilities. South Bay Archery was also extremely generous and accommodating over the holidays, as our family was searching for a fun activity to do on New Year's eve with some friends. We booked a private party with Coach Paul and Coach Lani and everyone had a wonderful time! They made sure all 9 participants learned proper safety protocols, and taught our group how to shoot since some of us had no prior experience. They kept a good pace, explaining the challenges of shooting from further distances, and made things extra fun by creating a competition at the end, with the winner getting a prize! After that we relaxed and ate in the party room upstairs, which overlooked the shooting area. We all had a GREAT TIME! I encourage anyone looking for a fun group activity to check out South Bay Archery Lessons! I can't say enough about the kind, warm and engaging nature of both Coach Paul and Coach Lani, as well as the exceptional care and professionalism they put into all they do! We are looking forward to learning more archery skills and sharing fun times with South Bay Archery Lessons!

It used to be at a different area in The Southbay Pavillion when it used to be called The Carson Mall; and it was a bigger building too! This building that it's in, is wayyyy smaller, but they still have the products you need for sports, shooting, fitness, etc.. It's still always awesome getting their random coupons in the mail. Even if you saw something for sale and you forgot your coupon; the workers here are nice enough to give it to you for the sale price, as long as you're not lying and if the sale's still going on. It's pretty clean and well-organized inside, along with great workers who give their customers full attention. I sure do miss seeing Neelam working at this store! She was super cool and had great customer service! Same with the lady with the reddish hair and glasses, who likes watching wrestling! All in all; this Big 5 gets a BIG 5 STARS from me because it's just phenomenal after so many years; plus... you can't go wrong with the huge parking and the fact that it's in a mall.

I checked my home security cameras to see what all the commotion was, it was soooooo unbelievably LOUD! After they left, I went to the door to see what flyer they left. A door hanger for a food drive was left. The door hanger states they will be picking up donations on 11/8 between 8am-10:30am. This door hanger was left on 11/7! No bag was included, as usual food drives in the area provide you. The door hanger tells you, the person donating, to put non-perishable foods in a bag or box. This is unbelievable. You are asking for food donations and gave about 12 hours notice??? You are asking for food donations and don't even provide people with a bag to put the donations inside?? You allow such poor behavior from the kids in your scouting groups when going door to door???? This is unbelievably nervy and I cannot believe the behaviors of these kids! You will not be receiving any donations from our family after giving such short notice and allowing your scouting organization to be represented in such a poor manner. Your organization should be embarrassed.

All that's left is Big 5 and Dick's. REI doesn't count, as they're too niche. This location has a lot of merchandise and it's inherent problem is the aesthetics of the layout of the store. It's way too crowded and cramped for shopping and could use an expansion and makeover where it feels well-lit and spacious. It's sort of the difference between Target and Wal-Mart. I think Big 5 could use new branding as a company. It's a good store with good prices. They do "over coupon" as Bed Bath and Beyond did. You can always anticipate a $5 off of $15 type value-pac FSI mailer coupon and almost won't shop without a coupon. It's a longterm flawed business strategy. Their prices are quite good in many ways. I went shopping for shoes and they had shoes on sale for $30-40 where I went next door to DSW and most of their comparable shoes were $50-55. You'd think DSW whose only business is selling shoes, would have a competitive edge, but it doesn't and didn't, at least for active/athletic shoes compared to Big 5. I'd say check Big 5 out first or last, but don't buy any shoes until you've visited a Big 5 like this one. Parking is fairly easy in this outdoor strip mall of sort, that has a Sizzler, Harbor Freight and other businesses.
