So therefore after my chiropractor appointment I decided to Yelp the closet big 5 near me. Low and behold it was 6 minutes away arrived 6 minutes after 10. Plenty parking as big size lot. I walked in carrying my family members pair of shoes. I asked who do I speak with and can you please call him I'd like 2 pairs of shoes like these. Lol me waving the shoes in the air. Gebi was called and what a great fella he went to the back brought me the shoes and also showed me a hiking pair of shoes picked those up as well. One of the reason I prefer to walk in once a business is open some of us just may get that assistance and quick service on top of that buy a little extra just as I did. Visited on Monday, 09/29/22. Very huge Big 5 - not a lot of people when I was there since it was a weekday. Boyfriend and I were specifically looking to buy a USC case license plate, but the employees mentioned that they don't have any license plates in stock anymore. We were just window shopping and saw a LA Dodgers car license plate and nothing else. Wish this place has more college sports gear. read more

This store when I went was stocked nicely with the exception of no weights or much fitness equipment understandably so during these times. There are two things I will mention though. I ran into the manager to ask a question which he addressed correctly then he proceeded to ask if I was looking for anything else and I mentioned fishing rods and he said motioned toward where they were and said "they are over there and is there anything else". I thought that to be weird because Im accustom to a store employee usually walking you in that direction especially if it is a manager. Second they have hand sanitizer in front of the store but both bottles were empty so whats the use of having them if its not kept up to help stop the spread of covid? read more

I went yesterday to buy some ammo for there daily email sale , little did I know that I needed a real ca Id or passport, the manager said he'd honor the deal if I came by today which I did with passport in hand , I was told that no one can sale any ammo because the manager is on vacation for a week , I do not recommend this store read more

Just left this location and was made to feel like a criminal by Jeff G the assistant manager. I have a receipt and product I needed to return but because of a mistake in their system they would not refund my money. Jeff and the cashier at first were confused and was told I'd get store credit. After showing me how the computer would not allow the return, he changed his mind and said no store credit. I drove from across town to return the item to this store since I couldn't return near my home where they told me I'd need to return at the original location. I don't know where the mistake was made or if if there's a problem with their systems but there should've been a better solution than "call this number". I've been a loyal customer since I was a kid and I will not be coming back to any Big 5 stores. read more

My Girlfriend and I planned a trip to the firing range this weekend 11/21/2021. We wher buying ammo for my 9mm Glock and my 12 gage shotgun. I have purchased ammo from various big5 stores, including this particular store. I and my girfriend called a few big5 stores in the surrounding cities. Only the city of Inglewood and Gardena had the box of 200 9mm bullets in stock. We were at Inglewood store location when I had my Girfriend to call the Gardena store # 496. The store had 2 boxesa and said they woulfd hold them... We stated we were in route fron the inglewood store. Upon arrival I spoke with mr jeffrey glasser .... I immediatley recognized this person from my last visit approx 1 yr and 3 months earlier. He was very harsh ... definetly did not want to sell me ammo. I had purchased from other big 5 stores ... so I was totally prepared. He insured i had met all the requirements. Which i can respect but was definetly disturbed that I had met them. So I really didnt care because It wasnt my local store and I chalked it up to him being that old and he had peaked in life ...Being a big 5 store manager. anyway I drifted back to this current issue .. I greeted him and states he can only talk to danielle because she made the CALL. I explained we were together ..."doesnt matter" he replied. Her took her info asked for a few to run the BACKGROUND check.. Remember we just left Inglewood store and 2 weeks ago I purchased ammo from Culver city. NEITHER store imposed a TAX of $1 ..... they only asked if I had purchased a gun in California within the past 5 yrs. He neglected to ask that question ... SO there goes the THEORY of he is just being thorough. I even mentioned to her he didnt ask if you purchased a firearm within the past 5 yrs. We both knew she HAD not ... therefore I was to purchase our ammo. I even purchased my shot gun from Big5 culver city. The back ground of course came back denied ..... No purchase of a firearm in Califoria past 5 years. I asked once again can I purchase the ammo he stated NO .... I said i can call if thats necessary. He said i was with her .. MY girl friend WHO RESIDES at the SAME residence ... for past 7 years together. I was upset because I cant say why this individual did not want to sell me ammo but I know that from the on set and my prior experience with dealing with him ... he made a cognitive choice not to sell US ammo. I called big5 customer service and spoke to them .... was told maybe he thoughti was buying for someone else???? is this the local liquor store for beer and cigarettes ... I 59 years old my gf is 49 years old ... NO tats ... No sagging ... WTH ... STOP with the excuses ... the man has BIASES and I am sure that this is a theme with him. I asked for the district or regional managers number ... Customer service cant provide that ... So I asked to speak to the Manger of customer service 2 days later .. no return call. So iam now contacting the Gardena city council , mayor , better business burea and ETC. Why does this man who has not really progressed in life be treating people as criminals ..... If he is miserable ... I am sorry life hasnt turned out they way he imagined .... I AM NOT DOWN PLAYING GOOD HARD WORK ... STORE MANAGER ...but for sure he is a Make America Great but has fell short in a COUNTRY that cuddles and makes excuses for. I worked hard in a RACIST and sometime hostile Avaition company .... The store was ok and quite typical of the way sporting goods stores are set up. I think the employees of retailers now are so under trained in customer service that it's frustrating for a customer, speaking for myself of course. He stood at the register and didn't let me know he was waiting for me to checkout. Meanwhile I'm waiting on him to say he could help me since there wasn't a previous customer. Ok I'm next so I put my items down on the counter and he starts to ring up my purchase all the while continuing his conversation with another employee about personal issues. Upon completing the transaction I paid for it in cash and having been in retail I understand that there's a proper way of giving change. You don't give 18 dollars in one's or 9 dimes for ninety cents in change if you have other denominations to work with. Yes things have change but where can we improve? read more

Bought 1 thing from this store, I lost the receipt! They said I have go back to the same store to return it. The lady manager at the register says she is the only one here. She has to go to the back to look up the transaction in another system that can possibly take a while! If this is how your system works they definitely need a more upgraded one!!
