First of all, I had a hard time finding the place. There was a Halloween shop downstairs and I had to come upstairs. Found a very big footprint and a very good selection. I needed to get five Sparks basketballs. They had one on the floor and the others in the back. I think they need more people working there. There were people at the checkout, but upstairs there were really only two people, and that's not enough for a large footprint and inventory questions and things like that. Very Disappointing Customer Service Experience I had a very unpleasant experience with a member of the leadership team named Billy during a recent visit to the Dick's Sporting Goods at Del Amo. I attempted to return a pair of youth cleats that were still in new condition. They showed no signs of wear on the soles--only a small amount of dust from my child trying them on briefly on a dirt field. The cleats were black, making the dust more noticeable. I purchased them just 27 days earlier and had my original receipt. According to the return policy printed on the receipt, returns are accepted for items in new condition. Billy immediately refused both a refund and even a store credit. Because he was the acting leader, I requested to speak with the store manager. Billy seemed reluctant to involve the manager, but I insisted. Store Manager Val inspected the cleats himself. He explained that worn shoes are generally not eligible for return, but after examining the cleats and confirming they were still in new condition and within the 30-day return window, he approved a store credit. What disappointed me most wasn't the policy--it was Billy's customer service. Throughout the interaction, he had a dismissive attitude, made very little eye contact, appeared irritated whenever I asked a question, and showed no interest in resolving the situation professionally. Those are qualities I would not expect from someone in a leadership position. I appreciate Manager Val for taking the time to inspect the item and applying the return policy fairly. Unfortunately, Billy's approach made what should have been a simple return into an unnecessarily frustrating experience. read more

Went to Dick's Sporting Goods to get a pair of Adidas ballet shoes, but the pair I wanted turned out to be online‑only, which was a bummer. I tried on the Adidas Tokyo shoes I've been eyeing, but once I saw them on my foot, it was a hard no; they looked like banana boats, and that's not cute at all. I ended up getting a black and cream gum bottom New Balance pair that I really like. I'm planning to wear them with a dress and some lacy socks. The young lady working the shoe section was on it, assisting me and several other customers at the same time, and she didn't miss a beat. She did everything with a smile, too. My first time in this store after placing an online order for pickup. Store is located in Torrance on Hawthorne Blvd on South end of Del Amo Mall. This store is huge and had a lot of merchandise for different sports. There were 2 floors and we were assisted by a friendly associate who pulled our online order. After trying it on, my husband thought he'd need another size and another associate went to grab it for us. It was a better fit, so we went in line to make the even exchange. I had a couple of hiccups with this location. We placed an order online to be picked up at this store. Everything went well, until all of a sudden the order got canceled. We assumed the item might've sold out, no longer in stock, or just bad inventory all around. We decided to go in the store to get what we needed. We asked the cashier what happened with our order and he had no idea. We asked if they had it in stock or if another location had it. They went to check and luckily there was one Betts Jersey left in my size. We also signed up to get $20 off purchases of $100 or more. We did all that at the store and when it came to checking out, it turns out the coupon wasn't available until after a few days or something. We ended paying full price, no problem. The manager explained to us, if we wanted, we could bring the jersey back and repurchase after we got the coupon to get that $20 back. I didn't get the coupon until a week later which was to expire in 2 days. I went back to the store with the coupon forgetting that the $20 was actually NOT a free $20 off anything. It was $20 off ANOTHER purchase for $100+. So basically, a trick to get you to buy more, which I didn't end up using. The coupon wasn't quite clear and tricky to be honest. Beware of those marketing schemes and ads you see online or in store! The only upside was that the staff were very understanding and helpful. We went back looking for another shirt but they didn't have it in stock and they were nice enough to call the El Segundo location to hold the item for us. We went to that location, picked up the item easily, and there were no issues. Just keep an eye on the sales and ads -- and know what you're really getting. Another suggestion for this store is to keep better inventory. There had a ton of the same stuff but limited in other areas. read more

I called Dicks and they gave me hope because they said they had 1 pair each of 2 shoes I was looking at but they said they needed to call me back to make sure they had them. I never got a call back and I wasnt going to drive out there to find out they didnt have it. Anyway I hate bad service so I started to look on Amazon and Nike sites. They work in a very unprofessional way. When I called the store, a man answered, and while he was talking to me, he kept chatting with other people. When I asked him to check my order and the item number, because I wanted to buy a Pickleball paddle, he told me to hold on, but he just kept talking loudly to others. He never even told me whether the paddle was available in the store or not. He just kept talking to other people. I had to say "hello, hello" many times, but he still didn't respond. I'm really disappointed with the way dick Store Torrance operates. I highly recommend that people do not shop here, because I booked online and it didn't even work. This store was pretty impressive. The huge variety of brands that they carry for all different sports and sports equipment as well as sports apparel is amazing. The store is pretty well organized. There is so much merchandise here, but the one criticism that I have is that some sections are extremely cluttered and I think it would be pretty helpful if some of the merchandise could be a little bit more evenly somehow spread out. The one other thing that was not so great about our trip here was that when you need personnel, there wasn't any to find. But when you didn't exactly have anything that you needed help with they seem to be everywhere. And when I finally went to the cash app to get some of the assistance that I needed so badly, but couldn't find as long as I was on the sales floor, the young man at the cash app had no clue. He ended up having to look online and search for what it was that I was asking for. Then that's when he found out that they don't carry that particular item. And that's fine and everything but it's kind of difficult to work at a sporting good store and not know your merchandise. But otherwise, when I did find staff, they were very friendly. read more

My 5 star review is for Alyssa at the front desk. Alyssa helped me with an impossible problem when most other customer service would have told me to sail off. I won't go into details but, it is suffice to say that I know that she went the extra mile to help me out because the current system would have allowed her to point to a sign, shrug and say, "sorry, but we have a sign". I detected that she sincerely wanted to help. This was such a rare encounter to have in corporate retail America and the only distinguishing characteristic is the employee with whom you interact. I had seen an item that they had online and just decided to go to in person and get it. When I got there I tried looking for the ear warmers in the section where they had all the winter stuff & didn't find any thing similar to what I had seen online that they said they had available. After a few minutes I gave up and tried looking for help. There are two areas where you can pay down stairs, The lady to the left of the mall entrance was swamped and just went upstairs to see if I can find someone to help me. I finally found someone in the sports section and told him what I was looking for, he didn't seem to care, check his phone device things for the exact item and he said " nah we don't have any", he went on to check the back and said I just have a large blue one and that was it. I said thanks for checking but not sure he checked the right area cause he came out super fast. I left disappointed cause I wasn't able to find it, after looking online and just wanting to go get it myself my husband ended up getting it curb side but I had told him they said they didn't have it! He made the order and all this time they had 8 of them.. why did this worker tell me they didn't have any? The manager swore it would be ready the next day. Their excuse? The guy who does it is on medical leave. Girl with reddish hair at the cash register is extremely rude. She might have been a lead training the other new employees at the registers. She didn't know basic CA law about the minimum threshold amount allowing customers to cash out a gift certificate ($10 and below). That's not the problem, and I didn't mind she was unaware. The problem was her attitude. She seemed annoyed that I was aware of the law and that she had to ask her supervisor for advice. She gave me the remaining amount in cash begrudgingly, seemingly annoyed without another word. Why does this Dick's location always have the saltiest group of employees? I never experience this kind of service at Big 5 or other mom-and-pop sporting goods shops. Issue seems to be management at this location -- poor hiring and even worse training. If employees don't want to work or do what is part of their job then they should reconsider working elsewhere. read more

I come here for my sporting goods needs and they take care of me as there is an array of any sporting related. Prices are ok but not too bad. There is 2 stories worth of products in this place. This is a huge, huge sporting goods store next to Del Amo mall. They have a massive selection of sporting goods and camping equipment also. Staff are nice and helpful. Main downside is the prices, rarely find any sale items and most of the time the exact same items are cheaper online, even on the Dick's website. On the clothing side (Nike, Under Armour, Columbia, others), it's not worth it with high prices on just about everything. Dick's has an amazing range of goods, name a sport, or outdoor hobby (hiking, fishing, canoeing) and they have you covered. They don't specialize in any one thing with a super deep selection set, well, aside from running shoes. Point being, they have a little of everything, if you need something in a hurry they will have it. They are a little expensive, but it's an investment, especially if you need advice or direction from a store employee (consultant). I like this location. read more

Glad to see they are open again for in-store shopping. For the most part , this store is almost always empty. It's so easy to spend money here on things you never thought you needed. I came to get a fishing/hunting license, they sell these here at the front counter. Everybody was very helpful. Wow though, all the bikes were sold. No more firearms or ammo sold here anymore , I don't think it would've been a go to store for those whom chose to buy those items anyways. They have loads of outdoor/backyard play items such as slide board , dart boards, different backyard games , tents, chairs ect. Just dropped in to buy a gift. The escalators were not working today and I'm glad to see the elevators were in service. They have a small sanitation table set up as you walk in of you felt you needed to use those items. read more

I've been to this Dicks Sporting Goods about 4 times withing the last few years. My son is a big kid. He's 6'1 250 lbs at 14 years old. I've always left empty handed from this place. They don't Cary any adult sizes in baseball pants,underwear,etc... They don't carry any adult sizes in football pants, girdles, shirts, helmets, etc.... If you're an adult or have a big kid, don't waste your time here. read more
