My first time in this store after placing an online order for pickup. Store is located in Torrance on Hawthorne Blvd on South end of Del Amo Mall. This store is huge and had a lot of merchandise for different sports. There were 2 floors and we were assisted by a friendly associate who pulled our online order. After trying it on, my husband thought he'd need another size and another associate went to grab it for us. It was a better fit, so we went in line to make the even exchange. I had a couple of hiccups with this location. We placed an order online to be picked up at this store. Everything went well, until all of a sudden the order got canceled. We assumed the item might've sold out, no longer in stock, or just bad inventory all around. We decided to go in the store to get what we needed. We asked the cashier what happened with our order and he had no idea. We asked if they had it in stock or if another location had it. They went to check and luckily there was one Betts Jersey left in my size. We also signed up to get $20 off purchases of $100 or more. We did all that at the store and when it came to checking out, it turns out the coupon wasn't available until after a few days or something. We ended paying full price, no problem. The manager explained to us, if we wanted, we could bring the jersey back and repurchase after we got the coupon to get that $20 back. I didn't get the coupon until a week later which was to expire in 2 days. I went back to the store with the coupon forgetting that the $20 was actually NOT a free $20 off anything. It was $20 off ANOTHER purchase for $100+. So basically, a trick to get you to buy more, which I didn't end up using. The coupon wasn't quite clear and tricky to be honest. Beware of those marketing schemes and ads you see online or in store! The only upside was that the staff were very understanding and helpful. We went back looking for another shirt but they didn't have it in stock and they were nice enough to call the El Segundo location to hold the item for us. We went to that location, picked up the item easily, and there were no issues. Just keep an eye on the sales and ads -- and know what you're really getting. Another suggestion for this store is to keep better inventory. There had a ton of the same stuff but limited in other areas. read more

I called Dicks and they gave me hope because they said they had 1 pair each of 2 shoes I was looking at but they said they needed to call me back to make sure they had them. They work in a very unprofessional way. When I called the store, a man answered, and while he was talking to me, he kept chatting with other people. When I asked him to check my order and the item number, because I wanted to buy a Pickleball paddle, he told me to hold on, but he just kept talking loudly to others. He never even told me whether the paddle was available in the store or not. He just kept talking to other people. I had to say "hello, hello" many times, but he still didn't respond. I'm really disappointed with the way dick Store Torrance operates. I highly recommend that people do not shop here, because I booked online and it didn't even work. This store was pretty impressive. The huge variety of brands that they carry for all different sports and sports equipment as well as sports apparel is amazing. The store is pretty well organized. There is so much merchandise here, but the one criticism that I have is that some sections are extremely cluttered and I think it would be pretty helpful if some of the merchandise could be a little bit more evenly somehow spread out. The one other thing that was not so great about our trip here was that when you need personnel, there wasn't any to find. But when you didn't exactly have anything that you needed help with they seem to be everywhere. And when I finally went to the cash app to get some of the assistance that I needed so badly, but couldn't find as long as I was on the sales floor, the young man at the cash app had no clue. He ended up having to look online and search for what it was that I was asking for. Then that's when he found out that they don't carry that particular item. My 5 star review is for Alyssa at the front desk. Alyssa helped me with an impossible problem when most other customer service would have told me to sail off. I won't go into details but, it is suffice to say that I know that she went the extra mile to help me out because the current system would have allowed her to point to a sign, shrug and say, "sorry, but we have a sign". I detected that she sincerely wanted to help. This was such a rare encounter to have in corporate retail America and the only distinguishing characteristic is the employee with whom you interact. I had seen an item that they had online and just decided to go to in person and get it. When I got there I tried looking for the ear warmers in the section where they had all the winter stuff & didn't find any thing similar to what I had seen online that they said they had available. After a few minutes I gave up and tried looking for help. There are two areas where you can pay down stairs, The lady to the left of the mall entrance was swamped and just went upstairs to see if I can find someone to help me. I finally found someone in the sports section and told him what I was looking for, he didn't seem to care, check his phone device things for the exact item and he said " nah we don't have any", he went on to check the back and said I just have a large blue one and that was it. I said thanks for checking but not sure he checked the right area cause he came out super fast. The manager swore it would be ready the next day. Their excuse? The guy who does it is on medical leave. Girl with reddish hair at the cash register is extremely rude. She might have been a lead training the other new employees at the registers. She didn't know basic CA law about the minimum threshold amount allowing customers to cash out a gift certificate ($10 and below). That's not the problem, and I didn't mind she was unaware. The problem was her attitude. She seemed annoyed that I was aware of the law and that she had to ask her supervisor for advice. She gave me the remaining amount in cash begrudgingly, seemingly annoyed without another word. Why does this Dick's location always have the saltiest group of employees? I never experience this kind of service at Big 5 or other mom-and-pop sporting goods shops. Issue seems to be management at this location -- poor hiring and even worse training. I come here for my sporting goods needs and they take care of me as there is an array of any sporting related. Prices are ok but not too bad. There is 2 stories worth of products in this place. This is a huge, huge sporting goods store next to Del Amo mall. They have a massive selection of sporting goods and camping equipment also. Staff are nice and helpful. Main downside is the prices, rarely find any sale items and most of the time the exact same items are cheaper online, even on the Dick's website. Extremely clean, neat and well organized. They have a very wide selection of sporting goods from just about every category. Two floors worth of active lifestyle goodness. Cycling, hiking, camping, fishing, weights, golf, basketball, baseball, football, tennis, they cover it all. If you're looking for something on the sporting equipment side they will probably fit your needs at an expected cost. You won't be saving much but you'll have that particular item you were after. On the clothing side (Nike, Under Armour, Columbia, others), it's not worth it with high prices on just about everything. Try to catch a sale or sign up for their rewards card and get deals in your email. It is a cool store to walk through and browse though. Dick's has an amazing range of goods, name a sport, or outdoor hobby (hiking, fishing, canoeing) and they have you covered. They don't specialize in any one thing with a super deep selection set, well, aside from running shoes. Point being, they have a little of everything, if you need something in a hurry they will have it. No more firearms or ammo sold here anymore , I don't think it would've been a go to store for those whom chose to buy those items anyways. They have loads of outdoor/backyard play items such as slide board , dart boards, different backyard games , tents, chairs ect. Just dropped in to buy a gift. Went last night looking for a LA Sparks t shirt for my wife. I checked online first to make sure in was in stock at that store. Walked in and found every other team has its own section but no sparks gear near them. I'm giving Dick's a lower rating based primarily on their lack of customer service and lackluster approach to creating a friendly shopping experience and environment. Never will the words "May I help you?" or "Can I help you find something?" come out of the mouths of an employee, and not just one specific person. It's everyone! I'm not sure if it comes from the management or supervisors, but the employees mill around aimlessly and treat customers like they're invisible ghosts, not making eye contact, not smiling, and almost like The Walking Dead, zombie retail workers without brains. I'm really disappointed, as the merchandise here is robust and to the point where it's not easy to find certain items. I was ready to spend, but nobody wanted to help me relieve me of my money, so I left and move onto other retailers who want to earn the business. In an industry where so many sporting goods stores have gone under, Dick's can't afford for their customers to go to Big 5 or Champs, otherwise they may go under like Sports Authority, Sports Chalet, Sportsmart, Oshman's, and Copeland's. There are too many specialty shoe stores as well as general merchandise brick and mortar retailers that carries sporting goods equipment and apparel, let alone the plethora of online/internet shopping options (including Amazon) for Dick's to be complacent. I've read quite a few reviews of this store / location on Yelp, so my experience isn't unique. I'm usually not one to complain or point out shortcomings (in the event it was an off day and I want to give 'em a free pass for something which might be an abnormality) but it seems like it's a prevalent problem. So, ideally, corporate headquarters or the upper management takes notice and re-trains their employees to not do a better job per se, but do their job, and serve the company and it's customers by treating others they way they'd like to be treated. My advice is to have every single Dick's employee go across the street on Hawthorne Blvd., over to the Chick-Fil-A restaurant and treat them to a meal, but tell them to take notice on how the Chick-Fil-A employees are trained from the moment you enter the door with friendly proactive greetings, through the ordering process, payment and fulfillment of the order to exiting the restaurant. Chick-Fil-A knows customer service and how to train their employees (of course they're not without critics on their religious based stances and once in a while rogue racist employees writing offensive notes on customer receipts) as general guidance. read more

First of all...THANK THE GOOD LAAAAWD this location is here and we no longer have to drive to God forsaken El Segundo for the "closest" location, anymore! What should be a fifteen minute drive turns into something tragically longer! No more 405 freeway! No more traffic! No more making it a "day trip," so I could utilize my time more wisely over on that side of town! Ever since Sports Authority and Sports Chalet closed, we've only had Big 5 around and their supply is sorely a hit and miss...miss...miss! Then enters this epic, majestic monstrosity of a store!! I literally wanted to open my arms and sing along with the angelic tune that was playing in my head! I first discovered Dick's; what a name, right?! Makes me think of all kinds of impure thoughts! Furrows brow and tilts head... Sorry...trying to stay focused, here... Okay, well I first discovered Dicks in Vegas and I absolutely LOVED the store!! It had everything you could possibly even think of, sports or activity related. This one is no different! The entire first floor is dedicated to fitness, minus a few other things thrown in there. They have clothes for men and women for yoga, fitness/athletics, sports; you name it...they for damn sure have it. They carry all the brand names like Nike, Puma, Reebok, Under Armour, and then some. Their Nike section is huge! It's bigger than the one in Vegas. They have a huge selection of tennis shoes, flip flops and more! They have gear for every sport from golf, baseball, and football to fishing, kayaking, and paddleboarding! One thing that I really appreciate about Dick's is the fact that they consistently have good weekly sales and send out coupons, both by mail and email and yes, you can combine them! They have good sales in-store and even better sales online. I bought my 40oz. Hydro Flask online, only because the store didn't have the colors that I wanted. In the store, it was $46, online it was on sale for $29! See my point??! So it pays to pull up their website while you're in the store, to compare prices! I workout for competition and meal prep. I like that they have a great selection of clothes to choose from, meal prep bags, ice packs, and reusable flatware. One problem that I had was finding a bag big enough to hold my food and drinks. Under Armour makes one in 4 sizes, so it was perfect for me to get the second to the biggest one. It was $50, but that was better than some of the meal prep bags out there, which average almost, if not $100 for the same size as the one that I got. Plus, I used a coupon for even more added savings! The staff that I encountered was very friendly and helpful, smiling and very much approachable. They have call buttons all over the store if you need help in certain sections, which is nice so that you don't have to walk all over the store and look for help. This is one of those stores that pretty much has all of the things that the sportsman is looking for; everything from clothing, shoes, bikes, all the way onto kayaks. So, if you need something sports related, this is your place to go. This Dicks Sporting Goods is very similar to their other locations in the area. As this location is brand-new it is very clean and nicely organized inside. This establishment actually has two levels. It offers it's clothing and shoes on the bottom level and then you go up the escalator to find bikes, camping equipment, fishing gear, golf supplies, etc. This is not a discount house so expect to pay list price. This being said, their prices are competitive and their shelves and their racks are fully stocked. This new location is located in the Del Amo Mall. As it is a part of the mall, parking is very easy to find and is in abundance. They have designed the store nicely so you can easily walk out the door and access the rest of them all.
