super solid rock climbing gym in torrance! i'm glad this is part of the touchstone chain. the walls, equipment, and workout areas are all very modern and nice! and super bright and colorful for aesthetics. the setting for rope climbing only uses +/-, i.e. 5.10-, 5.10+, 10.11-, etc. not a bad thing just something to note. super jealous of anyone that calls this their home gym! highly recommend. read more

Had a fun time with my friends! Came here two weeks ago during their free entry in October for first timers. Need to sign a waiver online before starting. Went around 2PM on a Saturday and it wasn't too crowded. This gym is HUGE with lots of different bouldering and rock climbing routes. Some of them appear harder than they seem, but it was still fun. Everything was well maintained and very clean. Lots of space everywhere. Bathroom was very clean (no rock climbing shoes allowed in here). They also have washing /showering areas in and outside the bathrooms. Lots of different shoe sizes to choose from for rental during their regular months. (Free in October.) They are cleaned after each use. There is a bin for placing them after session is over. They also have treadmills and weight rooms which is a nice variety to have for the gym goers. Highly recommend and would go back if I'm in the area. read more

This is prob my favorite climbing gym so far! It's so spacious, clean, with lots of parking (much more so than the post and cliffs of ID), as well as access to fast eats such as Jollibee and In n Out. There's a speed climbing area that's locked up until you ask for access from an employee. Love that theres a kid friendly top rope section and an area for olympic weights. It's well ventilated, and one of the rooms just BLASTS AC lol. As someone who's started recently, I appreciate how there's a good number of beginner friendly problems! V2s here seem to be a smidge more difficult than the ones at the post, but it's all subjective. Friends who are more advanced also like this gym more than others. The foot wash basin is a nice plus, and the bathrooms are spacious and kept tidy as well. The showers had strong pressure and heated up quickly. Body wash, shampoo, and conditioner is provided. There's a sauna as well. Great hours - they open an hour earlier compared to other gyms I've been to on a Sunday. Despite there being other people, it never felt too crowded a few hours after opening for the day. For a $20 day pass (discounted when going with a member), it's worth it if you're there for 3-4 hours imo. There's a $10 Mcal day pass (with proof/ID) too that includes the harness and I believe the chalk bag too. Even though it's a 45 min drive w/o traffic, we will def be back!!! read more

I have been bouldering only a few times in my life so definitely a newbie when it comes to climbing. The gym seemed new and modern - very spacious and there were even some rooms inside as well. The courses seemed more beginner friendly compared to the ones at other climbing gyms I've been to. I was able to complete V0 and V1, and almost a V2! Usually I can barely do a V0. I also liked how there were a lot of downclimb holds throughout the wall, it gave me a sense of ease. I saw the staff periodically cleaning the holds as well so that was nice. The membership is more expensive compared to other ones in the area but Class 5 has great facilities and perks (get a free pass for first time climber and free pass for first Friday of the month). I love being a Touchstone member! This new Touchstone climbing gym opened in Torrance after much anticipation so we went on our day off of school. We had a lot of fun bouldering and top rope climbing. My kids really appreciated the shorter top roping walls, something we've only seen in the Bay Area Touchstone gyms. I also hadn't belayed in almost a year so I really needed this wall to get comfortable with belaying again. There were so many top rope climbing walls. I wish my husband could come with us to belay me! I'm looking forward to coming with him here another day. The shoe rentals here were very easy, and the staff were great. The facility is new and clean, and one thing I noticed that I haven't seen in other Touchstone gyms is the foot washing station! I always wash my feet after changing my shoes, so I really dig this. Nice facilities in this very large climbing gym. The best amenity is the foot washing station, which just makes sense with climbing. They offer bouldering, top rope, lead climbing, and have a speed wall. No auto belays here. The top rope walls are pretty high so it's a good endurance challenge. There's an Olympic weight room, gym equipment, cardio equipment, board room, large restrooms, and sauna. The membership is very high as with all touchstone gyms. read more

This is my new favorite gym in Southern California. The facility is all new with day-use lockers, sauna, shower, and wait for it, foot-washing stations. I first saw foot-washing stations in Taiwanese gyms, and I am glad that the idea has made it here. Now, all they need is really cool vending machines. Also, I love how Touchstone continues to repurpose old buildings instead of building new; in this case, it was an old Babies R' Us. Since I am assuming that Torrance is similar to San Jose in the sense of a lack of tall industrial buildings, I look forward to Touchstone using this blue print in other cities that grew during post industrial period. Honestly, the best Touchstone gym by far in the SoCal area! First of all, sooo much parking available! This is a really big gym with large spaces for everything. Gym equipment, a lifting room, and even a separate room for the moonboards. There's huge areas for both bouldering and rope climbing so you have loads of options to climb. There's a speed climbing wall as well that I got to try since there was a staff member available to assist. I like that there's a hand washing sink outside to wash the chalk off instead of the bathrooms so you don't have to remember to change your shoes. There's even 2 sinks for washing your feet! Sooo great! If I lived closer, I would def come here all the time! read more

Class 5 stands out where a lot of gyms fail: LOTS of parking, actual, high-quality weightlifting equipment, and most styles of climbing. They also have large dry saunas that don't require pre-heating, A/C, yoga, strength, and pilates classes. There's a good variety of beginner and intermediate bouldering routes, but I can't attest to higher. In comparison to other gyms, SenderOne is harder and Hangar18 is easier. Session and Cliffs of Id are similar, but Session's route style is different. Where they can improve: although they do have community events, their front area is not big enough for impromptu social gathering like ping pong (it's tucked away in the back) or board games, could have more frequent route updates, and auto-belaying. This is honestly nit-picking because it's by far the best climbing gym I've been to in NorCal and SoCal. I've since moved far away and refuse to change gyms because it's THAT great. Summary: if you're looking for an all-inclusive gym and climbing gym with great parking, this will become your go-to spot! read more

Class 5 is the newest Touchstone climbing gym on the block. There was a mix of bouldering, lead climbing, speed climbing and more! The bouldering terrain was the only area that I tried out and I thought the setting was unique for every grade level I tried. I especially liked the arch feature which I haven't seen in many gyms before! The amenities were very nice which a pristine clean locker room, plenty of towels, and sauna. After a few hours climbing, I spent some time unwinding in the sauna and it was a perfect climbing day! read more

I joined this gym not for climbing, but for the group fitness classes. One of the yoga instructors, Heather, was absolutely wonderful, classy and professional, what one would expect from a top yoga instructor. But another instructor, Elma, was, in my opinion, unprofessional and passive aggressive. I left her yoga class 10 min early, then when I asked for her playlist, she told me she only gives it to those who stay until the end of class. I've never experienced this before. I contacted the manager, and he was defensive and took Elma's side, which I thought was unprofessional. I went back to Elma's class and wanted to leave 10 min early to get to my swim class and she angrily said "NO YOU CAN'T. YOU DO THIS ALL THE TIME" Imagine saying that in the United States to a mom who has to pick up her kids, or to a grandmother who had to go to a medical appointment. It's just not civilized behavior. It's not disrespecting her class if one leaves a few minutes early quietly. I don't recommend this gym. read more

Dropped in for an intro class with phoenix. I'm not an absolute beginner, (i've climbed maybe 6 times) so we breezed through the intro stuff pretty fast. had 20 minutes left over (i had the class to myself), and with the remaining time he improved my climbing, belayed me up a wall, and gave me a lot of pointers. a very useful 60 minutes. i would highly recommend phoenix to any aspiring climbers. he's got an asian street, hip hop dancer vibe, which is refreshing for the climbing scene read more

Newly opened gym in the last few months and by far my favorite touchstone gym so far! I wish it were closer to me. It's worth an hour drive on weekends to be able to climb and workout here. So many spacious and clean and brand new amenities. High ceilings and fans. Pros: -very new facilities -separate private room with 3 training boards (kilter, tension 2 boards are the two highlights) -separate private lifting room with 3 cage squat racks and a bunch of extra bars on the side with weight varieties of 1lb, 2lb, 55lb, 35lb plates -very widespread and spacious climbing area with variety of wall angles -one small section has top out -large open concept gym space with a full TRX and resistance weight machines for lat pull downs, rows, assisted pull up/dips etc -rope training for upper body -rope for climbing up -full dumbbell section -two rowing machines -another full section of cardio machines including stairmaster, bike, tread, elliptical -large spacious bathrooms and showers -ridiculous amount of clean towels -separates foot washing station outside of restrooms with benches to sit and wash feet -outside hand washing station with paper towels -plenty of cubby spaces -water refill station -small roping section -free shared parking plaza with lots of spaces Cons: -no hang boards read more

I'm a V0/V1 climber that just started in January and have now hit all the socal Touchstone locations, but this one has BY FAR blown all the other ones out of the water! I always get jealous of how creative and fun the higher grades look but I'm still not to that skillset yet, however coming here I REALLY appreciated how every beginner climb was completely different from each other with all types of holds and moves I'd never gotten to try out before while still being an accessible climb I could send! I'm starting to feel a lot more confident moving to v2 due to how different the routesetting was at this gym in comparison to most of the other gyms being a typical ladder setting for lower grades.
