One of the best CrossFit boxes I've had the pleasure of dropping into in my fitness journey! Located in an industrial side of Torrance, TTL was a great spot with modern facilities, a large training space, and fantastic community. Coach Ashley in the morning was fun and led us in a good warmup before proceeding with the WOD which was clearly written on one of the TV monitors. I loved being able to get a good (and challenging) workout and also engaging with a lot of the local athletes. Everyone was welcoming and it was fun to crush a pretty advanced WOD. Although I would argue that the 400m run around the gym is a bit longer than 400, I can't be too upset at working my body up just a bit more. Thanks TTL for the great drop-in experience. Fit Over Fifty class is great! I've started coming to the class early last month and it's been my 4th class now. The exercises are all wonderful from stretches, cardio, strength training and more! Cheryl, our instructor has been working and showing us how to move our whole body from the tip of your fingers all the way to your toes. A one hour class seems to go by quick for me with the variety of exercises during each session. I usually don't give any reviews but I think these exercises will keep us strong, active, & healthy. I was looking for a gym that would help me get back into shape after not working out for more than fifteen years. The owners and coaches are warm, welcoming and helpful. Everyone I've met has been encouraging. Coaches recommend modifications for injuries and in my case, baby steps to get to where I need to be. Back in September, a coworker/friend of mine, invited me to her gym as apart of their "Bring a buddy" promo. I was able to go to classes with my friend 3 times. I signed up the 2nd class! The community is friendly. I bounced around different class times at first before I figured out a good schedule for me and felt welcomed at each one! I have met some awesome people here! The work outs can be challenging but are scalable to accommodate any fitness level. You don't have to be at tip top shape but just willing to give it a go. The coaches are knowledgeable! They're so encouraging especially when you feel gassed out or when trying out a new movement. A plus is that they make the classes fun! Who wants to go to a boring class? This Box is my jam. Let me give you some backstory: I came here in early 2018 six weeks postpartum and after my former CrossFit gym closed. I was sad, but that was shortlived. Instantly, the TTL coaches and the owners welcomed and embraced me, and encouraged me to come with my baby stroller and little guy. The programming is spot on! The coaches are amazing, and have personality. The owners make you feel at home. I LOVE Cheryl's Lites class and I go as much as I can. You will question your decision to come to class in the middle of your hundredth burpee, then love her at the end and show up the next day. The barbell classes also rock. For any newbies, I'd recommend the 7:30 PM because there are fewer people and more focused attention. I have also met some of my best friends here. If I'm in a bad mood, then I go to TTL and the energy instantly picks me up. I have so much gratitude for this place. read more

I already had a membership to a typical gym (like 24 or LA Fitness) and was looking for something more to help me get better with my Olympic lifts and gymnastics, as there is only so much you can do on your own. I bounced around visiting different gyms, and landed on Torrance Training Lab based on a recommendation from a friend. Since I visited, I have absolutely loved it. The coaches (Rad, Robbie, Ashley, and Jamie) are great and really take the time to help you out, what's even better is the fact that classes aren't large like at a typical gym. I also enjoy the others in the class as they are encouraging, motivating, and push you while being extremely positive. What's even better is the fact that they now also offer a boot camp class. When our beloved neighborhood gym unexpectedly (and without notice!) closed, we were kind of adrift. Then one of our coaches made a deal with a local Crossfit gym, and we found a new fitness home. They're a Crossfit box that - like old-time boxes - welcomes people coming in who do related fitness activities. That's not as common today, and it's been great to continue our bootcamps and do baby Crossfit with their Lights classes. Great facility!! This gym makes you feel like family. When my workout group suddenly learned that our box was closing, we felt lost and alone and without direction. Torrance Training Lab (their new name) is my favorite drop-in gym when I'm visiting my hometown! First and foremost, their $20 drop in fee is for THREE days in a 1-week period! That's hands down the best deal for a drop in I've seen ANYWHERE (aside from like, you know, free) It's a great deal because I drop in during the holidays and knowing I can go in 2 more times is a huge motivator to get my WOD on post turkey. But despite the super amazing drop in fee, the coaching staff and community at this gym is incredibly warm and friendly, knowledgable, and just all around awesome. I'm a pretty shy and intimidated when I step into a new gym but I was immediately greeted not just by the coaches, but by the community members too. I really did feel like I was just stepping back into my own home gym. The WODs themselves are scaled to 3 different levels, so it's nice to not have to do Rx muscle ups. The warm ups are also pretty rigorous and could be mini workouts in themselves, which is great to get you warmed up for the real work. Even during a normal coached workout, there are always people on the side doing their own workouts or doing Olympic lifting, so the community here is very active in accessory work! The gym is on the larger size with TWO rigs, although one of the rigs has thicker pull up bars than what I'm used to, so that was surprising. Some of their gear came straight from the CrossFit Games, so they got them high quality colorful Rogue plates as well as med balls from the Games. They've also got these really sturdy speed ropes with heft to it so you can practice your double unders! read more

If you're looking for a great CrossFit gym to join, this is a great choice. Very friendly and supportive and the programming and instructors are top notch. The instructors are very knowledgeable and start you off at a level you can manage. They fit the workouts to match your fitness goals and adjust the movements and weight so that you are challenged yet safe. Very family oriented with an area set aside for kids, not just one of those gyms for young, fit people but I was working out along side a variety of ages and levels. At the end of the workout I was congratulated for finishing the WOD, probably because I looked like I was going to die. TTL is by far the best gym I've ever been to. The place hums with hard working humble individuals and everyone is incredibly friendly. Because of my time here, I have been able to accomplish many health and fitness goals- losing body fat, gaining more muscle, LA Marathon, many half marathons, Spartan Trifecta! All the coaches are super friendly and motivating. The 4:30 Lites class with Cheryl is my go to. Cheryl is awesome and will teach you correct form which is very important to prevent injuries. The FitLab offers up a great PrepLab course to help beginners and have regular classes in the early morning and evening for convenience. If you were a former athlete or if you ever went to the gym and didn't hire a trainer, I highly recommend trying CrossFit. Your competitive side will remember the fire that used to push you, and you'll learn how to avoid injuries and improve the effectiveness of workouts through proper form and technique. If you were never an athlete or have never been to a gym, I still highly recommend trying CrossFit. There is no pressure from the coaches to do things you are uncomfortable with--you're free to go at your own pace. Even without lifting any weights, you have fun while working out! My mother is a "senior citizen" and I am recommending CrossFit to her. You can be sure that a mama's boy like me wouldn't do such a thing if I thought it would be dangerous or didn't have numerous benefits! Parking: Plenty of parking around the building as well as on the street. It's a quiet industrial complex right above the Torrance Medical Center. Many safe. So amaze. Much wow. Most of us have no idea what we're doing (even though it may look like we do), so you'll fit right in. We go over all the exercises together so don't worry about not knowing how to do a "Rear Foot Elevated Split Squat". If you ask anyone for help, they'll be more than happy to help! Payment: Sign up for a trial through their website--it's completely free. One of the coaches will set up a casual meet and greet where you'll be able to ask as many questions as you want. Be sure to mention any health problems or injuries at this time! Once you decide to sign up (because I know you'll love it), everything is done electronically--hassle free and environmentally responsible. A warning! If you decide to do a warmup/cooldown run around the industrial loop, BEWARE THE SKUNKS! I run into about 4 or 5 every night, and those stinkers come out of nowhere. It's not just another gym (or box)! Fit lab is great! Workouts are challenging, are always different and can be scaled to your level. You get to know everyone and that includes the coaches. The camaraderie that you develop with your fellow fit labbers and coaches is a nice bonus, when I am struggling, their support is what pushes me to finish strong. I started with their Prep Lab, which was the perfect introduction to the whole Cross Fit phenomenon. At the completion of the two week course I was able to see that I improved in time, endurance and mental toughness. I've been to total of three crossfit gyms over three years. I admit I would do a groupon once a year at a new location for a month or two and see if I liked it. The first three times/three gyms I wasn't hooked, maybe because the instructors didn't take me seriously or pay attention to me, facility was small with too many students, cost was high and/or bunch of meat heads that made me feel insecure. So I continued my workouts with Barre classes and pilates reformer. So then my co-worker wanted to try crossfit and wanted me to be her buddy. At first I kept declining because I wasn't hooked at three times I tried in the past years, what would change this time? So she made me buy the livingsocial/groupon deal for Torrance Crossfit. It's been two months at Torrance Crossfit and I go 2-3 times a week. I've tried all the instructors: Marcos, Trent, Lexie, Cheryl, Jamie and Kennan. Even Dan comes around to the new students to help with their form. Keep in mind, I'm not the fastest more like the slowest and I like to keep my weights on the light side for maintaining the right form for now, but I love it. I do notice a change in my body. I actually feel comfortable working out at Torrance Crossfit, maybe because this is the biggest facility I've been to, the guy/girl ratio is very equal and the instructors are very detailed in their instructions. For the new folks, the instructors keep a watch on us and make any corrections to our form during the workout. You might think, yeah they should do this. Well, at other crossfits I've been to it wasn't like this. And the icing on the cake, I find Torrance CrossFit affordable. So yes, I will continue Torrance CrossFit and incorporate the classes with my girl workouts, Barre classes and pilates reformer. read more

It was tough pushing myself and fighting the crowds at the local 24 Hour and LA Fitness gyms, and my friends were having good experience with Crossfit programs. Even though I had no experience with Crossfit at the time, I decided to give the local one a try - and 1.5 years later, I'm mighty glad I did. From world-caliber athletes to those who had decided to get their butt into gear for the first time ever, the people who come to TCF truly make this place exceptional, even among the variety of Crossfit options we have here. Everyone is open and friendly because we all share the same goal of bettering ourselves, and the quality coaching and programming here make it easy to do so. There's all the equipment, food, advice, and atmosphere anyone needs for their fitness needs. Cannot say enough good stuff about this place and the people. I started with some one-on-one sessions with Coach Dean and that dude is awesome. He's incredibly knowledgeable and patient. He works with you on form and light weights until you get it down. He pushes you to excel but makes sure you aren't going to break yourself. I'm from out of town and dropped in for a few sessions and was very satisfied with my experience. On the first day I was greeted by the friendly owner Jamie who quickly got me acquainted with the box, trainers, and other athletes there. The equipment and set up is some of the best I've seen in a crossfit gym. They have the higher end plates and bars from Rogue, and the gym space is very spacious. The coaches are all top notch and had some great WODs. I paid $20 for 3 drop in sessions and the owner was completely fine with me coming in as many times as I wanted for the week that I was there. This goes to show they really care more about their members having a great experience rather than nickle and diming their members. Only critique is that I couldn't find their workout schedule or pricing online, and they are not on wodify which I am more accustomed to using. read more
