I started searching for a Hyrox training gym 4 months ago for my husband and I. The first gym we tried to attend did not work out, but that gym ended up being our blessing in disguise. Determined to find another gym, I stumbled across Provoke. As someone with no history of crossfit, hyrox, weight lifting , fitness knowledge, or has any athleticism for that matter, Provoke was a great starter pack. I did not know what i was walking into, but Coach G and Coach Joseph made me feel welcome, comfortable, and safe. They are both great mentors and teach you about proper form and what areas you need to work on. The community at Provoke are welcoming and supportive. We are all there to be healthy and to learn what our bodies are capable of doing. It feels good to be surrounded with such a positive environment. What I really love the most about Provoke are the class times. I'm a mom of two school age kids with extra curricular activities, work full time, volunteer, with little time for myself. The late classes Provoke has aligns perfectly with our schedule, so I get that one hour to focus on me. If you want to start working out but feel intimidated, take that first step into Provoke. I guarantee you will be welcomed in with open arms. Stay consistent and attend at least three classes a week. You will feel and see the difference as you keep attending. The anxious feeling you get before class is normal. I still experience it, but keep going. You won't regret walking into the best hour of your day. read more

I've been going to CrossFit Provoke for 12 years, and I'm updating my review because the coaching staff deserves recognition for helping me through one of my biggest setbacks. About 2 1/2 years ago, I seriously injured my knee during a Spartan Race. I needed a full ACL reconstruction, a meniscus meniscectomy, and I also had a tibia fracture. During my recovery, the coaches modified movements so I could keep attending CrossFit 3-4 times a week. They worked with my limitations and helped me stay consistent and connected to the gym instead of falling out of my routine. Now, this December, I'll be competing in HYROX solo. That's a big milestone after everything my knee has been through. If you think you can't do CrossFit because of an injury or physical limitation, consider my story. Having coaches who know how to adapt workouts to where you are makes a huge difference. I'm grateful for the coaching staff at Provoke and the support they've given me throughout my recovery. read more

I had an amazing and challenging Hyrox workout with Coach Garrick! He's awesome, super knowledgeable, well equipped, and makes sure your form is on point. I also did a Hyrox small group session with Coach Joseph, who is equally knowledgeable and really knows how to push you to reach your next level. Highly recommend training here! read more

I've been a member of CrossFit Provoke for a little over a year now, and as someone trying CrossFit for the first time, I can't recommend this place enough if you're on the fence. Coach G and his team do an amazing job of meeting you where you're at. They started with a comprehensive assessment of my skill level and scaled my workouts appropriately, ensuring a safe yet challenging experience. I'm in my 40s and have always led a fairly active lifestyle, but since joining Provoke, I've gained -- and continue to gain -- strength, mobility, and endurance like never before. The programming is both effective and safe, and the coaching staff genuinely looks out for you. What really sets this gym apart is the culture. From day one, I was welcomed by a community that values accountability and support. The encouragement I received in those early months made a huge difference, and it's the kind of environment that keeps you coming back. read more

I've been coming here for about three years, and trust me, these workouts do not play. Every day is something different. Just when you think you've figured it out, boom... they throw another movement at you you've never even heard of. Somehow it's painful, fun, and addictive all at the same time. The coaches are great. They actually know what they're doing and won't let you cheat your reps (I've tried ). And the people here are great. Nobody judges you, but in the contrary will help you by giving you advice. If you want real results, good vibes, and the occasional "why did I sign up for this?" moment, this is the gym. Highly recommend. read more

I've been a member of CrossFit Provoke in Lomita, CA for 3 years. The first 1.5 years were a bit on and off for me, but once I started increasing my attendance (a min of 3x per week) my nutrition improved, and in time I noticed a tremendous amount of endurance and stamina in other ares of my life start benefiting from being functionally in shape. As a small business owner, I am often sitting at my desk all day long, so staying active is essential. More importantly I husband and father of young kids and my time is incredibly limited. I needed a gym where I could get in, get an efficient workout done in an hour, and get out--and CrossFit Provoke has been perfect for that. What sets this gym apart is the accountability and the synergy from the other members and staff. The community here is inspiring, made up of incredible everyday people who are dedicated to their fitness journey, regardless of age or athletic background. Everyone pushes each other in the best way possible. One of the things I really appreciate is how they scale or modify workouts without shame or guilt. Whether you're just starting out or have been doing CrossFit for years, they meet you exactly where you're at, fitness-wise. Their attention to proper technique is unmatched, and the coaches know exactly when to push you and when to hold back. Provoke Crossfit Gym is one of the best gyms I've ever been to. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the energy and passion that the coach and members have for fitness and wellness. The facility itself is well-maintained, and equipped with everything you need to take your workouts to the next level. What really sets Provoke Crossfit Gym apart, though, is the community. Everyone is so supportive and encouraging, whether you're a seasoned athlete or just starting out. The coach is knowledgeable, attentive, and always willing to help you improve your technique and reach your goals. I've been a member of Provoke Crossfit Gym for two months now, and I've seen incredible progress in my strength, endurance, and overall fitness. This is by far the best CrossFit gym I've ever gone to. I was a total beginner when I joined and CrossFit Provoke taught me so much. I've been doing CrossFit for more than 10 years now. Within those years, I've joined and visited multiple CrossFit gyms and I have to say the programming here is by far the most challenging I've come across. Coach G ensures his members are reaching their capacity and more. He is methodical in the way he prescribes his workout throughout the week and at times will throw in a doozy from the far left field. If you are looking for a place that will kickstart your health journey or simply looking to continue yours, Provoke is a great local community box to join. To all the mommy friends out there, I also want to mention that I have 2 little ones. Sometimes I'm unable to get a sitter, and Coach G ensures that this shouldn't stop me from getting my workout in. He's been the best and will play daddy daycare so I can get my grind on. Check this place out. read more

I started at CrossFit 8 months ago. The gym could be intimidating seeing all the men and women lifting barbells but it's so inviting! Coach G brings a sense of community with his gym. I knew nothing about using a barbell. I have only used the basic machines (bikes, rowing machine) and dumbbells. At CrossFit provoke, the coaches will teach you how to properly use equipment. Coach G has benchmarks and phases to help you measure your own improvement. Definitely recommend CrossFit provoke and take advantage of the Groupon deal online. read more

I've been a member since September 2020. I'm so happy my husband introduced me to CrossFit Provoke because I feel I have become stronger. I used to go to another CrossFit gym in Ecuador and I never felt strong as now. What I really love here is the support of the community and the coaches are great. I trained my 9 months of pregnancy and Coach G helped me adapt to the programming during that time. I can't say enough good things about CrossFit Provoke, thank you! If you're reading this G ....I miss you Ok ok ok, on a serious note , I was introduced to provoke and Coach Garrick by my cousin and went ONE DAY! I wasn't very serious about my training and just went to shut up my cousin who kept blabbing and blabbing " oh CrossFit is my life " " you should come with" Fast forward to the pandemic , my gym closed and got tired of jumping rope and doing push ups. Light bulb CrossFit Provoke.... Found a Groupon for 2 for 1 and the wife and I went to check it out. I was scared , nervous , excited and didn't know what I was about to get ourselves into. I made the mistake of telling G that his workouts were easy and the next day made me hold 25 lbs plates over my head while I did box step overs never again man. My wife and I got into the best shape of our lives while going to Provoke. Garrick was always understanding of what we needed and never had a " I'm better than all of you " attitude. On the contrary , he always pushed his athletes to do better and the environment he has been able to create is one I will never forget and most likely will never be able to experience anywhere else. We made friendships there that I can only compare as friends who become family. If you have been on the fence in joining or trying it out , stop thinking and just do it. Coach G , the people who workout there and the environment he has been able to create Is something that you have to experience to be able to understand. 6 pm Beer Crew , if you're reading this, you guys are the best ( Buff Alex , Alex Ajax , Alfredo , Brandalyn , yaya , Stella , Bethany , Jess , Vero , Carlos and Jenn ) and G... keep doing what you do bro. The best gym I've ever gone to. 6 months in and I got hit with some hidden fees though, having to buy a bunch of new pants. Wife & I had packed up some COVID pandemic pounds. Wife found this local CrossFit gym (Provoke) and asked me if I would support and accompany her. Being supportive and skeptical I agreed. Didn't believe she would last more than 2 weeks (In my defense, my wife has never participated in any group sports.) That was April of 2021. We are still very actively participating as of today. The owner and coach, Garrick Psick, along with his coaches, have a great understanding of each individuals fitness level. Although you are in a group setting, they tailor the workout to each individual making sure that 1st, nobody hurts themselves and that you learn proper lifting techniques for the given lift taught that day. I have seen people of all shapes and fitness levels there. I have yet to meet any person that attends being other than encouraging and supportive. Our overall health has improved substantially along with our strength & flexibility. My wife has found new cloths in our closet that fit her and I have had to buy new cloths. I am now a Large instead of an XL and my Levis are now 36 instead of 38 waist. Our (Covid)/weight is still on a downward trend. We look forward to what our health future has in store for us under the guidance and teaching of our coaches at Provoke! read more

Amazing place and great experience!! It was my best choice been to Crossfitprovoke. I had been to many gyms near my home but I've just been stuck here. I felt scared when I was there because It was my first time doing crossfit. Coach knows what each client needs everytime. I learned a lot movement for a year and had big improvment myself. People help each other out and are all kind, it feels like being a part of another family. I feel happy there. I have a shy personality and social  problem, and because of my language barrier its hard to adjust to new environments. It means everybody who has social anxiety can go too and get the new experience as well as take care your health and make your life changes. I guarantee would be great experience. read more

Been doing CrossFit Provoke for a little over 3 years. Here the coaches will help you with your fitness journey and guide you as well. I'll say that this isn't just your regular CrossFit gym you come and just work out. I feel this is, its own community that not only the coaches help you but you get help from others. No one is here to judge but help you and motivate you. That's what I enjoy about CrossFit Provoke. We do stuff together outside the gym as well like 5k runs, competitions, outdoor activities, and gatherings such as for thanksgiving and other holidays too. So I'll say if you are looking for more than just a gym but more of second family and a place where you will feel motivated to do work outs. Provoke is the place to come and join. read more

I started CrossFit at a different local box in late 2014. I didn't know much about CrossFit at the time and I didn't know what to expect beyond working hard and being disciplined. After about 3 months, I moved to another local gym, but the commute was taking up a significant amount of time. I wanted to find a gym that was close to home and the last location on the list was CrossFit Provoke (2015). I remember talking to Garrick over the phone, I had tons of questions, and he said "just come in tomorrow". Unbeknownst to me, I was walking into a, quite literally, life-changing gym and community. Almost immediately, Garrick gave me pointers on correcting my form, how to game workouts, what to eat, how much to rest, how much water to drink, etc. After three months of dedication and hard work, I started to see slow, steady improvement. Shortly after, Garrick suggested that I participate in a local competition he was hosting. After the competition, I only wanted to get better, faster, stronger. I was absolutely hooked on chasing improvement and none of it would have been possible without Garrick's coaching and encouragement. Garrick started offering barbell and yoga classes, which I took full advantage of. My strength and efficiency in the olympic movements went through the roof. Garrick set strength and conditioning goals for me and I hit every single one of them. I was on a roll. I moved to the Bay Area in late 2018 for a job and had to say goodbye to Provoke and all of the great folks I met. I joined Telegraph CrossFit for a few months, then "permanently" at San Francisco CrossFit (SFCF), which was run by Kelly Starrett. SFCF was the most visited CrossFit gym in the world - on a weekly basis we would have drop-ins from around the country, Europe, Asia, etc. A couple of WWE wrestlers used the gym when the WWE was in town. Julie Foucher filmed her podcast there. I could go on, but the point is SFCF was a big deal in the CrossFit community. On top of all that, I got to workout with and be trained by Kelly and CrossFit Regional competitors; some of the coaches had PhD's in exercise science and/or physiology, as well. I was surrounded by some very smart, experienced people at SFCF and I had a great time. I moved back to Los Angeles in April of 2020 and I returned to CrossFit Provoke. Starrett and the coaches at SFCF were knowledgable and experienced; they clearly knew what they were talking about and what they were doing. A lot of them had been involved in CrossFit since the early days. I bring up my time at SFCF because Garrick is a better coach in every aspect - and I have nothing but good things to say about the folks at SFCF. Garrick has a coaching "intangible" that is hard to describe: he knows when to push you, how to correct your form, and where you need to improve. He knows when you are ready to move onto the next "level", even though you may not feel that you're ready. For example, I wanted to learn how to do butterfly pull-ups and, ultimately, ring muscle-ups. Garrick taught me the progressions for the butterfly pull-ups and I had those down in no-time. For the ring muscle-ups, Garrick had programmed the muscle-up progressions one day. In my mind, there was no way I could do it on my first attempt, especially since I was just learning the progressions for the first time that day. Garrick disagreed - thanks to the progressions and some encouragement, I ended up getting my first ring muscle-up that day. CrossFit Provoke is, by far, the best CrossFit gym I have ever been to. The programming and the community are unmatched. Not only is Garrick a fantastic coach, he's a great, caring person who wants to see his clients and friends succeed in their fitness and life goals. Whether you're a CrossFit veteran or you're just starting out, I highly, highly recommend CrossFit Provoke. There is nothing else like it. read more

Crossfit Provoke is the best Crossfit gym I have been to in the SoCal area. It has a fun and warm environment. The coaches - especially Coach G, has an approach that is really individual to each of his clients. He pushes people but also knows their limits to not hurt them. Each class has a different feel and vibe so you can find your "tribe". Everyone is fun and helps push each other to do better and be a better version of themself when at the Box, and when not there. The box not only works out together at the gym but there are multiple outings, events, races, parties, etc. at the gym throughout the year. Its a place with a strong sense of community and fun while always getting in a good workout. read more

I had always wanted to try Crossfit but felt it was very intimidating. I also heard that Crossfit can lead to injuries as well. When I first enrolled, I was taught the basic steps and received the proper training. The program each day made it interesting and challenging but was also a lot of fun. The people who attended were always providing good advices and are so supportive. Coaches Destiny and AJ are terrific and know how to motivate us to improve our form. I really think it helps when you see Coach Garrick and other coaches work out with the group because it makes you want push harder. This is my second attempt at trying CrossFit. The first time was with another gym and I didn't hate it but also didn't find it motivating. So when I saw CrossFit Provoke had a Groupon deal, I decided to give CrossFit another shot and it was good decision. I found CrossFit Provoke's workouts to be fun and motivating. The training staff are all friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. I appreciate that they take the time to give you honest feed back on your technique to help correct your mistakes. I also enjoy seeing the trainers actually joining the workout classes as they practice what they preach . I've never been keen on doing snatches or power cleans but within a month felt more comfortable performing those complex movements now than I ever did. Great overall experience and would recommend them any day!! read more

Yes CrossFit is challenging... Yes it can feel intimidating at first... And yes it will strengthen you both physically and mentally. Doesn't it sound like a rush? The kind of rush that will keep you wanting more and more? You gotta get in to CrossFit Provoke! I was the guy who didn't really get into sports much, the one who cared more about eating, drinking and hanging out; than fitness. And yes of course I reaped the benefits of all that laziness. Feeling sluggish, the doctor giving you " the talk", and everything else that comes with being on the heavier side. I finally decided to give CrossFit a try and never looked back. Coach G, the owner, uses his many years of experience to motivate you to be the best you can be. At first, you're thinking to yourself "shit what did I get myself into." Next, you're thinking "can I leave work early to get into the gym." This may sound exaggerated but, that's the way I felt. The sense of community at Provoke amongst all the athletes cannot be beat. This is all because of Coach G and the way he leads a very successful gym. He's helped me to be more of an "athlete" than I have ever been in my life. Never would I have thought I could do a handstand push up, climb a rope, compete, or lift hundreds of pounds. He's helped with all of this and more. Not to mention a great program for weight loss that really works! And yes it's all work! Throughout only about 2 1/2 years of being at Provoke I am in the best shape I've been in (with still some work to do), I've learned so much and Coach G has also mentored me into being a coach as well. So... do yourself the favor come in and check it out! The worse thing that'll happen is you'll never leave. read more

What truly sets this gym apart is the sense of community and family the owner, Garrick, has built here. He has created an atmosphere where your goals and accomplishments are supported. I started my fitness journey here in Fall 2020. At that time I was 220lbs, out of shape and very intimidated to try CrossFit. I remember walking in like a lost puppy and Garrick greeting me. After, he asked me some questions to assess my fitness level and shorty after I started my first workout where I was guided through the whole thing. As one might expect I hated it because it was hard, but I had never felt more proud of myself for completing something that had previously felt impossible. As I continued showing up I could see my confidence in myself began to go up, not just in the gym but in my daily life. Throughout my time here with CrossFit, the nutritional programming offered here and the general advice of the coaches I have lost 60 lbs. The coaches and other athletes here are very knowledgeable and supportive. They prioritize proper form over lifting heavy. They also are able to scale workouts to your capabilities making it possible for you to do it no matter what your starting place is. And aside from that they work with you to achieve your goals, and help set goals for you if you don't know where to start. I owe a lot of my success in my health journey the the community here! read more
