I've been coming here for about three years, and trust me, these workouts do not play. Every day is something different. Just when you think you've figured it out, boom... they throw another movement at you you've never even heard of. Somehow it's painful, fun, and addictive all at the same time. The coaches are great. They actually know what they're doing and won't let you cheat your reps (I've tried ). And the people here are great. Nobody judges you, but in the contrary will help you by giving you advice. I've been a member of CrossFit Provoke in Lomita, CA for 3 years. The first 1.5 years were a bit on and off for me, but once I started increasing my attendance (a min of 3x per week) my nutrition improved, and in time I noticed a tremendous amount of endurance and stamina in other ares of my life start benefiting from being functionally in shape. I've been doing CrossFit for more than 10 years now. Within those years, I've joined and visited multiple CrossFit gyms and I have to say the programming here is by far the most challenging I've come across. Coach G ensures his members are reaching their capacity and more. He is methodical in the way he prescribes his workout throughout the week and at times will throw in a doozy from the far left field. I started at CrossFit 8 months ago. The gym could be intimidating seeing all the men and women lifting barbells but it's so inviting! Coach G brings a sense of community with his gym. I knew nothing about using a barbell. I have only used the basic machines (bikes, rowing machine) and dumbbells. At CrossFit provoke, the coaches will teach you how to properly use equipment. If you're reading this G ....I miss you Ok ok ok, on a serious note , I was introduced to provoke and Coach Garrick by my cousin and went ONE DAY! I wasn't very serious about my training and just went to shut up my cousin who kept blabbing and blabbing " oh CrossFit is my life " " you should come with" Fast forward to the pandemic , my gym closed and got tired of jumping rope and doing push ups. Light bulb CrossFit Provoke.... Found a Groupon for 2 for 1 and the wife and I went to check it out. I was scared , nervous , excited and didn't know what I was about to get ourselves into. I made the mistake of telling G that his workouts were easy and the next day made me hold 25 lbs plates over my head while I did box step overs never again man. My wife and I got into the best shape of our lives while going to Provoke. Garrick was always understanding of what we needed and never had a " I'm better than all of you " attitude. On the contrary , he always pushed his athletes to do better and the environment he has been able to create is one I will never forget and most likely will never be able to experience anywhere else. I'll say that this isn't just your regular CrossFit gym you come and just work out. I feel this is, its own community that not only the coaches help you but you get help from others. No one is here to judge but help you and motivate you. That's what I enjoy about CrossFit Provoke. We do stuff together outside the gym as well like 5k runs, competitions, outdoor activities, and gatherings such as for thanksgiving and other holidays too. Wife & I had packed up some COVID pandemic pounds. Wife found this local CrossFit gym (Provoke) and asked me if I would support and accompany her. Being supportive and skeptical I agreed. Didn't believe she would last more than 2 weeks (In my defense, my wife has never participated in any group sports.) That was April of 2021. We are still very actively participating as of today. The owner and coach, Garrick Psick, along with his coaches, have a great understanding of each individuals fitness level. Although you are in a group setting, they tailor the workout to each individual making sure that 1st, nobody hurts themselves and that you learn proper lifting techniques for the given lift taught that day. I have seen people of all shapes and fitness levels there. I have yet to meet any person that attends being other than encouraging and supportive. Our overall health has improved substantially along with our strength & flexibility. My wife has found new cloths in our closet that fit her and I have had to buy new cloths. I am now a Large instead of an XL and my Levis are now 36 instead of 38 waist. Our (Covid)/weight is still on a downward trend. We look forward to what our health future has in store for us under the guidance and teaching of our coaches at Provoke! read more

Amazing place and great experience!! It was my best choice been to Crossfitprovoke. I had been to many gyms near my home but I've just been stuck here. I felt scared when I was there because It was my first time doing crossfit. Coach knows what each client needs everytime. I learned a lot movement for a year and had big improvment myself. People help each other out and are all kind, it feels like being a part of another family. I feel happy there. I have a shy personality and social  problem, and because of my language barrier its hard to adjust to new environments. It means everybody who has social anxiety can go too and get the new experience as well as take care your health and make your life changes. I guarantee would be great experience. read more

Crossfit Provoke is the best Crossfit gym I have been to in the SoCal area. It has a fun and warm environment. The coaches - especially Coach G, has an approach that is really individual to each of his clients. He pushes people but also knows their limits to not hurt them. Each class has a different feel and vibe so you can find your "tribe". Everyone is fun and helps push each other to do better and be a better version of themself when at the Box, and when not there. The box not only works out together at the gym but there are multiple outings, events, races, parties, etc. at the gym throughout the year. I started CrossFit at a different local box in late 2014. I didn't know much about CrossFit at the time and I didn't know what to expect beyond working hard and being disciplined. After about 3 months, I moved to another local gym, but the commute was taking up a significant amount of time. I wanted to find a gym that was close to home and the last location on the list was CrossFit Provoke (2015). I remember talking to Garrick over the phone, I had tons of questions, and he said "just come in tomorrow". Unbeknownst to me, I was walking into a, quite literally, life-changing gym and community. Almost immediately, Garrick gave me pointers on correcting my form, how to game workouts, what to eat, how much to rest, how much water to drink, etc. After three months of dedication and hard work, I started to see slow, steady improvement. Shortly after, Garrick suggested that I participate in a local competition he was hosting. After the competition, I only wanted to get better, faster, stronger. I was absolutely hooked on chasing improvement and none of it would have been possible without Garrick's coaching and encouragement. Garrick started offering barbell and yoga classes, which I took full advantage of. My strength and efficiency in the olympic movements went through the roof. Garrick set strength and conditioning goals for me and I hit every single one of them. I was on a roll. I moved to the Bay Area in late 2018 for a job and had to say goodbye to Provoke and all of the great folks I met. I joined Telegraph CrossFit for a few months, then "permanently" at San Francisco CrossFit (SFCF), which was run by Kelly Starrett. SFCF was the most visited CrossFit gym in the world - on a weekly basis we would have drop-ins from around the country, Europe, Asia, etc. A couple of WWE wrestlers used the gym when the WWE was in town. Julie Foucher filmed her podcast there. I could go on, but the point is SFCF was a big deal in the CrossFit community. On top of all that, I got to workout with and be trained by Kelly and CrossFit Regional competitors; some of the coaches had PhD's in exercise science and/or physiology, as well. I was surrounded by some very smart, experienced people at SFCF and I had a great time. I moved back to Los Angeles in April of 2020 and I returned to CrossFit Provoke. Starrett and the coaches at SFCF were knowledgable and experienced; they clearly knew what they were talking about and what they were doing. A lot of them had been involved in CrossFit since the early days. I bring up my time at SFCF because Garrick is a better coach in every aspect - and I have nothing but good things to say about the folks at SFCF. Garrick has a coaching "intangible" that is hard to describe: he knows when to push you, how to correct your form, and where you need to improve. He knows when you are ready to move onto the next "level", even though you may not feel that you're ready. For example, I wanted to learn how to do butterfly pull-ups and, ultimately, ring muscle-ups. Garrick taught me the progressions for the butterfly pull-ups and I had those down in no-time. For the ring muscle-ups, Garrick had programmed the muscle-up progressions one day. In my mind, there was no way I could do it on my first attempt, especially since I was just learning the progressions for the first time that day. Garrick disagreed - thanks to the progressions and some encouragement, I ended up getting my first ring muscle-up that day. CrossFit Provoke is, by far, the best CrossFit gym I have ever been to. The programming and the community are unmatched. Not only is Garrick a fantastic coach, he's a great, caring person who wants to see his clients and friends succeed in their fitness and life goals. I had always wanted to try Crossfit but felt it was very intimidating. I also heard that Crossfit can lead to injuries as well. When I first enrolled, I was taught the basic steps and received the proper training. The program each day made it interesting and challenging but was also a lot of fun. The people who attended were always providing good advices and are so supportive. Coaches Destiny and AJ are terrific and know how to motivate us to improve our form. I really think it helps when you see Coach Garrick and other coaches work out with the group because it makes you want push harder. This is my second attempt at trying CrossFit. The first time was with another gym and I didn't hate it but also didn't find it motivating. So when I saw CrossFit Provoke had a Groupon deal, I decided to give CrossFit another shot and it was good decision. I found CrossFit Provoke's workouts to be fun and motivating. The training staff are all friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. I appreciate that they take the time to give you honest feed back on your technique to help correct your mistakes. I also enjoy seeing the trainers actually joining the workout classes as they practice what they preach . I've never been keen on doing snatches or power cleans but within a month felt more comfortable performing those complex movements now than I ever did. Yes CrossFit is challenging... Yes it can feel intimidating at first... And yes it will strengthen you both physically and mentally. Doesn't it sound like a rush? The kind of rush that will keep you wanting more and more? You gotta get in to CrossFit Provoke! I was the guy who didn't really get into sports much, the one who cared more about eating, drinking and hanging out; than fitness. And yes of course I reaped the benefits of all that laziness. Feeling sluggish, the doctor giving you " the talk", and everything else that comes with being on the heavier side. I finally decided to give CrossFit a try and never looked back. Coach G, the owner, uses his many years of experience to motivate you to be the best you can be. At first, you're thinking to yourself "shit what did I get myself into." Next, you're thinking "can I leave work early to get into the gym." This may sound exaggerated but, that's the way I felt. The sense of community at Provoke amongst all the athletes cannot be beat. This is all because of Coach G and the way he leads a very successful gym. He's helped me to be more of an "athlete" than I have ever been in my life. Never would I have thought I could do a handstand push up, climb a rope, compete, or lift hundreds of pounds. He's helped with all of this and more. Not to mention a great program for weight loss that really works! And yes it's all work! Throughout only about 2 1/2 years of being at Provoke I am in the best shape I've been in (with still some work to do), I've learned so much and Coach G has also mentored me into being a coach as well. I joined CrossFit Provoke last summer. I've taken advantage of Garricks Fluffy2Fit program and have successfully lost over 30lbs (so far). G pushes you to do things that you never believed you could do. He believes in you and he takes you out of the comfort zone. That's where you see results and really shows in all of his athletes. I started my fitness journey here in Fall 2020. At that time I was 220lbs, out of shape and very intimidated to try CrossFit. I remember walking in like a lost puppy and Garrick greeting me. After, he asked me some questions to assess my fitness level and shorty after I started my first workout where I was guided through the whole thing. As one might expect I hated it because it was hard, but I had never felt more proud of myself for completing something that had previously felt impossible. As I continued showing up I could see my confidence in myself began to go up, not just in the gym but in my daily life. Throughout my time here with CrossFit, the nutritional programming offered here and the general advice of the coaches I have lost 60 lbs. The coaches and other athletes here are very knowledgeable and supportive. They prioritize proper form over lifting heavy. They also are able to scale workouts to your capabilities making it possible for you to do it no matter what your starting place is. And aside from that they work with you to achieve your goals, and help set goals for you if you don't know where to start. My only complaint is that I never get to half ass the workout. Without exaggeration, this is the best gym I've ever been to. Garrick and his team of coaches actually want you to succeed. Whatever your goals are, they're going to help you reach them. Not sure what goals to set for yourself? They'll help you identify the best areas for improvement, and then help you improve them. In addition to the classes, he offers programs that help you dial in your nutrition, and events that are fun as well as challenging. There's a stigma that crossfit leads to injury, but the coaches at Provoke teach you how to condition your body so that you don't end up injuring yourself. There's as much emphasis on mobility and proper form, as there is on strength. The whole atmosphere is positive. Other members will give you a smile, a hand, a word of encouragement, and share tips for improvement that they found helpful. I can't say enough good things. read more

I started CrossFit back in 2015 when i found a Groupon that was basically a free month... and that was my mentality back then. "Ohh cool, 20$ for a free month at a gym, I'll try it out and then stop and try something else." I've been on and off with CrossFit for a while now. I'll leave and start to miss it, so I come back and then leave again to try something different. I've gone from gyms to boot camps to kickboxing to soul cycle to running to even home workout videos, but for some reason, i always come back here. Back then i use to hate it, it was a love/hate relationship. I hated being overweight and always the last one or not even finishing. I hated being the weakest one. Today's mentality is completely different, and i gotta say... i absolutely LOVE this place. The coach, the people, the environment, and the passion - that's what brings me back everyday I wake up every morning excited to workout and i don't dread it anymore. I might still be the last one to finish workouts, or the weakest one, and that's okay because I'm a lot stronger and faster than i was in 2015, and day by day things are changing. I might still say "this is stupid" or "i hate this" or even "i can't do this", but at the end of every workout, i walk out sweaty, proud, happy, and excited for tomorrow so i can do it all over again. I have no idea why i ever left this place, but you're stuck with me now and this time I'm not going anywhere. The environment and atmosphere is consistently positive, people are friendly and welcoming. The amount of classes and times offered to work out are so many.
