Axe throwing set up (Oct 2023)
    Luke L.

Hatchet Hound is a team building company that specializes in axe throwing. The company partners up and borrows outdoor game yard/beer garden with Arts District Brewing and Brewport Taphouse. Our company recently booked a team building event at Brewport Taphouse in El Segundo. [Price & reservation]: $285 for one-hour throw, $570 for two-hour throw, and $855 for three-hour throw. Generally speaking, 10 people and under then 1 hour is usually enough time to give everyone a chance to learn to throw and play multiple games. 10 people and over then Hatchet Hound suggests 2 hours with enough time to eat and drink while doing axe throwing. [Parking]: Street parking surrounding the bar, but I found a 2-hour parking lot just one block away from the bar (Richmond St & Richmond St). [Venue]: The beer garden had a cornhole set and a giant Connect 4 game. The company had one coach teaching us on how to properly throw axes. Everyone had a practice round as well as at least two Team A vs Team B rounds. [Conclusion]: It takes a lot of skill to be good at axe throwing and I was not to able to land a single axe on the wooden board. In all honesty, 2 straight hours of doing and watching axe throwing can get a little bit dull if there aren't anyone to socialize with at the team building event. Still not a terrible idea for team building. P.S. - Check Hatchet Hound's Instagram page for occasional walk-in hours.

Best. Team building. Ever!!! Super fun experience in a nice outdoor space. Our instructor took the time to make sure we were safe, kept an eye to make sure we were handling the hatchets properly, and led us through some friendly competitive games. We booked the lane for an hour and had the best time. Brewport Taphouse food and drink were available for purchase too. Parking in El Segundo can be tough on busy days, but it's worth it! Highly recommend!!

One of the best team building experiences out there! Mark is absolutely amazing and BrewPort Tap House had the best food and drinks to offer. I would do this over and over again with clients in the future. Everything was explained and the training is unmatched! If you have an opportunity to do this you will not regret it! Thank you Hatchet Hound for making this a memorable event for me and my partners!

Matt and Mary are good host and provided us pointers on how to throw the axe! It was a fun day. We'll definitely be back again.

She shared some history and tips about MB I never would have known on my own. My bf and I were able to bring our dog, which was a huge plus. The town is dog friendly to begin with, so 6 out of the 7 places we stopped at we could bring our fur baby. Each stop, we ate something unique. By stop 4 I was stuffed, but the food was too good I couldn't stop eating. There was a wine tasting which was a great addition. I would definitely do this again and bring colleagues, friends or out-of-towners!

Lauren and Amanda were our tour guides and from start to finish they blew us away with their knowledge of the city and the various eateries. Though this is primarily a food tour, I was very impressed with the time they also took to explain various unique spots throughout the city. From small shops to murals to writings on walls and the ground, they pointed it out and had unique tidbits about them. I could really tell that these ladies took their time to research to make sure this tour was exceptional and exceptional it truly was. I'm from the South Bay but I learned so much on this tour that I didn't know before! I also loved that they chose a variety of different restaurants. It was a very diverse offering and I thought this too was a great way to showcase the city. They really chose some family owned restaurants as well as restaurants that have a lot of history to the city. Everything we tried too was excellent. At the end they asked what our favorite was and I couldn't pick. Chicken wings, tacos, ice cream sandwiches...ahh I loved it all! I even loved some mahi sliders we got to try (and mind you I don't eat seafood but I made an exception for this tour because I trusted Lauren and Amanda's expertise and taste. I'm so glad I did because the sliders were delicious! Yes, if a tour can get me to eat seafood ...then it must be a good tour ;). I definitely would recommend this tour to both locals and visitors. You'll be sure to learn many things as well as get to eat some of the best cuisine in town.

South Bay Archery was also extremely generous and accommodating over the holidays, as our family was searching for a fun activity to do on New Year's eve with some friends. We booked a private party with Coach Paul and Coach Lani and everyone had a wonderful time! They made sure all 9 participants learned proper safety protocols, and taught our group how to shoot since some of us had no prior experience. They kept a good pace, explaining the challenges of shooting from further distances, and made things extra fun by creating a competition at the end, with the winner getting a prize! After that we relaxed and ate in the party room upstairs, which overlooked the shooting area. We all had a GREAT TIME! I encourage anyone looking for a fun group activity to check out South Bay Archery Lessons! It definitely made me want to go back to EACH place to try not only other drinks, but FOOD! It was nice to be provided with a sampling of each location....sort of a 'try it before you buy it' type of approach. I also learned a lot about the musical history of Hermosa. I'm always very hesitant when working with new companies because you just never know what can potentially go wrong--and the pressure is just that much more intense when you have 10+ staff members involved. So I'm very happy that Rebecca and her team, Lindsay and Andrew, were able to put together this amazing event. Rebecca really understands how to bring everything together, from the initial planning stages to the introduction/start of the event + during the event and bringing it all together at the end. They're all very professional and have a lot of experience in this. Even the team-building activities/games were fun (not too geared towards extroverts, introverts will enjoy it as well). There was a miscommunication with one of the locations we were supposed to stop by at, but Rebecca was very professional and had an alternative option already planned (which turned out to be an even better stop). Everything still went smoothly and we got back to the office early. I can't imagine how much more perfect the day could have gone. I highly recommend all businesses take advantage of Do Good Bus. It puts so much ease on the planner because you don't need to personally reach out to organizations about hosting an event. I would most definitely choose them again to host a future event!

We were paddling 3-4 times per week which made the monthly membership fee a no-brainer. All of the staff (including Chase and owner Patrick) are absolutely amazing people and always super helpful. We not only love the discounts at their amazing store, but also have really appreciated use of the onsite bathrooms, foot massagers after coming off the water, and the dry sauna (especially during the colder winter months and when there is a heavy marine layer). The membership is also great because you get after hours access to the dock, boards, and paddle gear so it is great to go paddling outside of store hours, including in the early morning when there's less wind and at sunset after the store is closed. In addition, we have gotten both our kids (now college age) into SUP and they will sometimes go out with friends. Since 2022, I have dealt with neck and back issues which, on two separate occasions, caused us to pause our memberships. However, after having back surgery in December 2025 and working with a trainer the past several months, I'm happy to say my wife and I are back on the water and I'm back to going SUP about 3 times per week. This is by far one of our favorite activities to do in the South Bay and Paddle House makes it so easy to enjoy and use your membership. Any time we have guest come in from out of town, we take them paddling to enjoy the harbor/ocean, views of the marina, and the sea life which abounds (sea lions, sea birds including Blue Herons, tons of fish you can see in the clear waters, and even the occasional dolphin). To say that becoming members of Paddle House has changed the lives of my wife and I and our kids would be an understatement! The membership has been very well worth it, especially if you are going to go out more than 3 times per month. In fact, although my wife and I contemplated buying our own paddle boards, they are quite large and difficult to both store and transport, so the Paddle House membership is a no-brainer. Besides, the quality of their various SUP boards and equipment are excellent. And we often end up making an afternoon out of it by getting a bite to eat, a drink, and/or listening to a band at Project Barley or Najas after coming off the water. JUST DO IT!!!
