It was a hot day and I was on a mission to find something fun to do with my 12-year-old. We stumbled upon this spot, saw the playground, and decided to give the mini golf course a try--and I'm glad we did. The course itself is cute and has a charming, almost homemade feel to it. It's not overly polished, but that's part of the appeal. There were several creative obstacles and challenges that we hadn't seen at other mini golf spots, which kept things interesting and fun throughout the round. After golf, we checked out the arcade. There was a good variety of games, and my son was definitely entertained, which is always a win. It felt like a well-rounded spot for a casual outing. The restrooms were clean, and the staff was friendly enough--nothing over the top, but perfectly pleasant. One thing that did take away from the experience a bit was the number of very young kids running around unsupervised. I'm talking maybe 4 years old or so, and they kept interrupting our game. As a parent, I completely understand how challenging it can be to keep an eye on little ones, but I'm also a bit competitive, so it definitely threw off my groove. Not the venue's fault, just something to be aware of--there may be some tiny, energetic free spirits roaming around. Also, while it was a warm day, it wasn't quite as cool as I expected it to be, which made it a little less comfortable than ideal. Overall, though, it's a fun, family-friendly spot with a unique mini golf course and enough activities to keep kids entertained. The Backswing is such a fun hidden gem in Huntington Beach! Located inside Playground Mini Golf, this speakeasy combines great food, craft cocktails, and an incredibly creative atmosphere. A quick tip because it was a little tricky to find the first time: park in the main Pacific City parking garage and take the elevator up. When you get out, head to the side of the building opposite the beach. The entire venue is golf-themed, and they truly thought of everything. The decor is adorable, and every detail feels intentional--even the bathrooms are super cute. There are so many great photo opportunities throughout the space, plus arcade games and indoor mini golf that make the experience even more fun. The speakeasy itself has a great vibe with creative craft cocktails and delicious food. I highly recommend ordering the Steak Frites--the steak was absolutely phenomenal and one of the highlights of our visit. I ate it before I got a pic. But trust me it's bomb! So happy to have found this place. Such a fun experience with so many activities to do as an adult. There was a mini arcade area , mini golf of course ; and so many board and card games . The full bar was really nice drinks were reasonably priced and there is a happy hour which I love. Let's jump into the food sooooo good. I order one of everything from the happy hour menu ; fried pickles , cheese curds and mini corn dogs . The food was good the sauces on the side were even better. The drinks my boyfriend and I got was really good and strong which I love . I wish I got the names of everyone who helped us cause the customer service was phenomenal. Wow! We found Playground Mini Golf on Groupon and we could not be more excited to find this hidden gem! Came w a party of 5 for mini golf. Kids are allowed until 9pm. We're totally coming back, just the adults Oakley is THE BEST! Being total newbies, he walked us through all their amenities, bites & brews. And he can make a mean Arnold Palmer too. He made us feel like we were celebrities! We can hardly wait to come back for their speak easy! We only tried the pizza appetizer and drinks. But, based on that, I'm sure the rest of their food offerings will be delicious as well. They have comedy Thursday nights. My daughter and I recently visited this Playground Mini Golf on a Saturday night. It might be fairly new. We enjoyed it! We found a Groupon for miniature golf, half off drinks and an appetizer for $45, but somehow I still managed to pay $40 when we got there. Not sure what happened. I should have checked my check. Anyway, we made it a good time. It's a small place. They have a full bar, cocktails, and zero proof beer. They do ask for ID after 9 PM. 21 and over. Parking is across the way at the structure and I paid five dollars. The location is pretty small, and the golf course is nine holes. And they are very tiny and you can get through it in less than 15 minutes. The good thing is that they have a miniature arcade area and a pretty cool back room of memorabilia to look at. It's a nice area to take pictures, but could be a little dark. The restrooms were super cute! I love the feminine touches and pink trash cans. The employees were all very friendly. Our bartender was super sweet and other workers that brought out our food were also very attentive and nice. Music was great and they have TVs and sports on. The food is mediocre. It's pretty much bar food. We ordered flatbread and wings. I wouldn't get the flatbread again. There was no flavor. The wings were OK. Probably need to try something different next time. Playground mini golf is the place where it's happening! Love the vibe, indoor games, miniature golf and a speak easy. We had a holiday party in the speakeasy. Cute space with virtual golf station along with your own bartender. It was so nice to have a private area to talk and have a white elephant exchange. We ordered off the menu, unfortunately the meals were not served all at the same time. The food was good though. The only hitch was booking the speak easy, it didn't show it as booked after a deposit was paid. Adam straightened it out and Stephanie was helpful with an explanation. Nice little place for the locals to come enjoy a different take on the fun bar experience. There's a small indoor mini-golf course to play that starts from the front and ends in the back. Short and sweet. Video games, limited outdoor seating but just enough. Friendly staff. We did not get to try the food, but Happy hour is M-F 2pm-6pm, $5 mini golf, well drinks, domestic beer. Came with my wife and kid and it's nice to know the bathroom stall has a changing table. I didn't get to play any games but will do next time. It's a cool spot with a bar inside, a small arcade, super cool decor, and unique themed mini golf. We played mini golf which is about 9 holes. There were others at the table tops drinking cocktails and playing board games but there weren't too many others playing mini golf so we got to go as many times as we wanted. I recommend it for a chill day with a group of friends, small group of kids, or a day date activity. Service is good, bartenders were polite. It's affordable and there's a cool speakeasy in the back too just past the arcade but before you hit the bathrooms - which are also very decorated!! I recommend you check this spot out. read more

Really wanted to love this adult mini golf spot, but unfortunately, it fell a bit short for me. I've been seeing a lot of social media hype about this spot, but unfortunately, this was one of the cases where it is much better online than in person. My main gripe is the fact that this isn't exactly adult exclusive - there were quite a bit of toddlers and children running around and playing at the mini golf and arcade (some without parental or employee supervision), while this is clearly a bar where quite a few adults are drinking. The 9 hole course itself was also extremely cramped, with no place to stand comfortably or set down your drinks as you waited for your turn. The balls would often easily fly off one station and into another, since all the holes were right next to each other and there were several holes that had props or slopes that the ball had to pass. Booking was also another issue - there's no reservation system set up yet, so everyone just queues up when they arrive, and it's hard to figure out the wait and how crowded the bar will be. The speakeasy that was advertised all over social media was also not operational, and the simulator inside the room needed a private booking, which also isn't clearly advertised. Overall, drinks were strong and had creative golf references for their names, but this wouldn't be a spot that I would come back to, considering the poor course design and difficult parking (there is free 90 min parking with no validation needed in the parking garage across the street if it isn't full). read more

Okay when this place was Be Good it was disgusting! We left five times for not being served at the bar no less. We arrived today and were met by bartender Oakley, who by the way, top of the line bartender! Customer service is Five Diamond!! If you don't know. That's one of the best AAA ratings and he deserves it and more!! The place has happy hour Monday-Friday 2:00-6:00 pm and everything on happy hour menu is $5.00! Way to go to the new owners! We came to Playground after seeing it at Pacific City. We were looking for an hour of fun for the kids to have fun on a rainy day. We called ahead to ask if they were open and we were informed they were. We arrived at the old location and called them back and found out they had moved. We walked over determined to still enjoy the evening. We were immediately uncomfortable discovering it was a bar with loud music, which I suppose we could have researched and found out at home. We played $10 of games which got us about 5 arcade games. We ordered a $10 chicken tenders and tater tots. Then we played a round of mini golf. There were plenty of free board games and giant party games around to play as well. My daughter had a blast. My son thought it wasn't that fun. We would've appreciated a heads up about the new location - maybe after about a year people will know better. We could tell a lot of care and details had been planned here. tldr: it's got the right spirit to modernized mini golf, unfortunately, the games are actually not that fun. pros: affordable, nice location, not a bad way to spend time with people you like cons: games are inventive, but not great functionally. The course is grouped together very tightly. More an afterthought with the food/bar as the main draw. Like some of the reviewers have mentioned, I wanted to love this place, but the reality is, as far as a mini golf course experience, it's not very good. The game designs are fun in spirit, but not very good for actual golfing in any way. While mini golf is not a serious game, if the courses miss a balance of requiring some level of skill to get in the hole, then people generally lose interest in following the course. Also, if you have more than four people, it's pretty much impossible to get through, especially if there are any other groups behind you. By the third or fourth hole, we pretty much given up on the game and enjoyed some decent snacks. And they have a full bar. While the golf game is reasonably priced, be warned, shots of bottom-shelf brand-name liquor start at $14. I know we're in Huntington Beach but those are very expensive shots. If you're at all in the mood for mini golf, you're better off going to one of the classic courses all throughout Orange County. But if this is a stop in while you're on Main Street, just for some kicks with a couple of friends or your partner, this will do in a pinch. Would I Return Rating? I wouldn't. And it's not like one of those, I'm glad I did it once kind of things. I would've been OK having never experienced it, but that's not to say that I could see some people enjoying this very specific implementation of mini golf. read more
