Bad Ass Coffee definitely caters to a flavor profile, but it happens to be mine. The Beach Bliss latte comes with white chocolate and macadamia nut inside and it's sweet! The Bad Ass One breakfast sandwich was good with the spam and pineapple on a Hawaiian sweet roll. The entire meal came with lots of sugar, but it tasted good. The space comes with a few tables and restrooms are in the back. At 9:30am on a Monday, there was a line that moved slowly, but those working were nice. read more

I wasn't expecting this, but wow. This new coffee gem came out swinging with the bold, strong brew I've been chasing. I used to make the long trek to my favorite coffee place... but now? I think I found a new go-to. Bonus points for easy parking right out front, and it's literally across from Wegmans, so coffee + grocery run = handled. We stopped by this morning to check it out & it didn't disappoint. The latte was sooo darn good and the fact that it has coffee ices cubes makes it so much better. I was able to enjoy a delicious coffee that doesn't get watered down and it wasn't overly sweet. It was perfection! One thing i probably won't purchase again is the breakfast sandwich, I wasn't a huge fan of the Hawaiian bread with the egg cheese and bacon but other than that i definitely will be back for more lattes. I am suspect of all the very positive reviews. Too many things went wrong for me to thing that this was just an off day. I had coffee with an espresso shot and it was good. I was looking or a great breakfast sammy and this place was disappointing. It came up as the #3 of the list of "best breakfast sandwiches around me". Like Starbucks, the breakfast sammy are pre-made and heated. This doesn't qualify. The decor is sterile like a Starbucks got together with Coldstone and launched a Hawaiian coffee shop. The Coldstone reference is that employees "greet" people when they arrive and announce tips. They do it in a half-hearted manner like they are bothered. I'd be bothered too working hard and being forced to do inauthentic customer service. I had to wait 15 minutes for the coffee. I heard one of the employees apologizing to another customer. I would have appreciated him saying something like this to me, "we are shorthanded, can you wait 15 minutes for your coffee?" The barista was calling out customer names when she finished a drink. In my case, she left it in front of a guy who had a large order. It wasn't until he left that I waded over to find my unannounced coffee. Keep in mind that I like offbeat coffee shops that don't feel like a chain. I also have high standards when it come to breakfast sammy's. read more

Besides the cool name, the drinks and snacks were basic. The matcha latte was just okay. It was much on the sweeter side and it felt grainy in my mouth. The hazelnut hula drink was sweet and good, but it doesn't stick out as a coffee shop. They need to get rid of the grilled cheese to stop people from wasting their money. It looked sad, like it was thrown into the microwave. There was barely any cheese, small and unappetizing. The service was great though! Great coffee place in Alexandria! I personally think Kona Coffee is one of the best coffees to have ever graced the world with so this was definitely a no brainer when I went. There wasn't anyone when I walked in earlier but the staff was friendly and even said Aloha when walking in. I wasn't craving much but I wanted to try out their Nitro Cold Brew w/ foam and their Bad Ass One Sandwich. The Nitro Cold Brew is really smooth and it's just the right amount of perfect for me. I don't mind drinking it black because it helps me with my diet and I guess the taste is something I'm used to now. The Bad Ass One Sandwich, with Spam, Egg, Swiss cheese, BBQ glaze over Kings Hawaiian buns, this was such a great item to eat for a quick brunch! It's unique to this area. I can't get over how great this place is! Parking can be hit or miss. There is limited street parking right out front, but there is additional parking and a parking garage not far. The prices are a little high but I am definitely okay with that since the quality is so great! The sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich on Hawaiian bread is delicious! AND the frozen coffee ice cubes keep your coffee tasting good without worrying about being watered down. I recommend this place to everyone! read more

Been wanting to try this coffee spot for a min! My cousin and i decided to try the hazelnut hula, iced matcha with macadamia nut (recommended by the staff), and a grilled cheese. The lady at the front was very sweet and welcoming! She informed us on all the drinks and told us the popular ones. The matcha latte was good but too sweet for my liking. I could also taste grains of sugar in the drink which I didn't love. I'm assuming because it didn't melt? The hazelnut hula was pretty good as well if you're into a more chocolate nutty type of drink. It wasn't my fav either. Unfortunately, thhe grilled cheese was very underwhelming. It didn't look like the picture and was very small and thin. I don't recommend it. Overall it was a mediocre first time experience. Had the Kreme de Kona iced and the Caramel Wave hot. All the usual alternative milks are offered. Guys - this is legit da kine ono coffee! Yes, the coffee is that good! They even offer real coffee ice cubes with their iced drinks so it doesn't get all nasty and watered down at the bottom. We also had the malasadas and a blueberry lemon cream cheese muffin - super tasty! Malasadas were especially delicious- soft and warm and covered in cinnamon sugar (this is what churros can only dream of being)! Servers are friendly and helpful. Service was fast even with a line. They offer an app for order ahead and to get points for future purchases. Parking is on street or in the city center garage. They're right next to the back of the AMC theaters. My first time trying this place. Very unique flavor mixes and a lot of food options. The staff was very average. They weren't rude but they weren't super friendly either. The place just launched a few new flavors that are unique in comparison of another coffee shop. I tried one of the new flavors. It was supposed to be a raspberry flavor but it tasted kind of bland. This place costs a dollar or so more than Starbucks depending on what kind of drink you get (s/m/l size). I wouldn't return but nice to try something different than my usual SB order. read more

Saw this place on Yelp while looking for a quick coffee/breakfast place in the area. I've seen it come up a lot and we got curious. This was on Christmas Eve so the place wasn't super packed or anything but the inside was decorated nicely and it seemed like a nice spot to spend a little time. The huge menu of unique drinks made deciding hard but we're just gonna have to come back. We got the Blended Chai, and Iced Three Waves, an Aloha Sandwich, The Bad Ass One sandwich, and the Cinnamon Malasadas. The wait time wasn't too bad, little under 10 min. Also seemed like they were cranking out a bunch of mobile orders. The iced Three Waves was really good. Not crazy sweet and could taste the coconut, caramel, and macadamia too. The Bad Ass One sandwich was so good, really hit the spot. To be fair I'm a big spam fan. The spam, cheese, egg, and pineapple on a King's Hawaiian bun is a great combo. The malasada was also really good. Warm, soft, and lots of cinnamon sugar. Very messy though. May be my new go to coffee/breakfast spot in Alexandria now. Came in about 30 minutes before closing. I was nervous they wouldn't be able to complete our order but no issues. My daughter got the little chiller- think frozen hot chocolate and I got the blonde caramel gingerbread coffee. I was able to do decaf. It wasn't too sweet and the whip cream or drizzle on top was perfection. The shop was decent size and well kept. Bathrooms were unisex and clean. Everything was nice and new. Good vibe and a nice selection of coffees and food. They also have a back wall full of merch which is nice. I grabbed a chap stick and cookie to go. Would like to return when in the area. I came here for their coffee ice which I've been trying to find since having it in a coffee shop in New York. The employee ensured all their iced lattes come with the coffee ice automatically. I got their iced beach bliss latte which is white chocolate and macadamia nut. It was pretty good and there's a good amount of seating available inside to enjoy it. The coffee here is pretty amazing! I consider myself to be a coffee aficionado of sorts and I was pleasantly surprised at how good my drink was. I tried the Iced Three Waves Latte. It has Coconut, Caramel, & Macadamia Nut syrup in it. It was so delicious, I could really taste the Macadamia Nut in the latte. I also love how the ice is actually frozen coffee! How cool is that?! So as the ice was melting, my drink never tasted watery like it would if I were at *cough, cough, Starbucks or Dunkin* The staff members I interacted with were nice, I visited on a Sunday and they were pretty fast in making my drink. Take my review with a grain of salt - I'm reviewing the chai tea drink primarily (unless you are a chai tea lover like me, then this is for you!). To be frank, I found the chai to taste way too sweet, and almost syrupy. Personally, I am a fan of "real" tea (of course, doctored up with milk and sugar etc), but something about this tea was totally off to me. I thought the ambiance was super cute (photos attached), and I liked the general vibe of the place. However, just returning from a vacation from Hawaii - you could probably get this stuff online for cheaper (and perhaps truly made in Hawaii!). I wish my review was more positive - I'll probably still come back to try the actual coffee, and may post an update at that time. read more

We came here 9 minutes until close and were pleasantly surprised. The staff had no issues making us coffees before close and we also ordered a few pastries! The strawberry rhubarb muffin was my favorite and my husband enjoyed the orange poppy cream cake. My cortado with oat milk was delicious but it had a tad more oat milk than I would have liked. It teetered on the edge of being a latte rather than a cortado. Staff was super friendly, patient, and helpful when we ordered. I saw that there was a new cafe open in this area so I knew I had to come check it out. It was a pretty nasty drive to get here, but was curious about their Kona coffee and Hawaiian inspired breakfast sandwiches. THE BAD ASS ONE - 5.75 This is their signature breakfast sandwich, which is a piece of spam, swiss cheese, egg, pineapple and BBQ sauce in between two pieces of Kings Hawaiian sweet bread. I was about to get a regular sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, but decided against it because I could get that anywhere. So glad I tried something different!! I was iffy about pineapples but it worked so well with the spam and sweet bread. It's a pretty small sandwich (slider sized) but worth the snack!! I would recommend giving it a try. I'm debating on getting a second one right now... CAFÉ LATTE (MEDIUM) - 4.95 16 oz. for the medium and I think I paid +1 for oat milk. Pretty tasty and you can actually taste the espresso after every sip. This was a solid latte and I'm normally not too impressed by them. The baristas were super nice and helpful when giving me suggestions and the interior is pretty clean and spacious with lots of random donkey pictures and art, lol.
