I stopped into Misha's coffee on an early Sunday morning. The barista was very friendly. I ordered a latte and a muffin. Their pastry case was impressive, including some pies. Nice coffee shop located on King Street in old town, Alexandria. Misha's advertises itself as an artisanal coffee shop where they roast their own beans and make all the coffee drinks you would expect from a higher end barista shop. My latte was well made from their own roasted beans and was full bodied, nicely balanced and with a rich crema that was quite good. The business itself has a dark inviting coffee shop vibe to it with plenty of seating inside, also some outdoor seating and a coffee roaster that is readily visible that adds a lot to the experience of drinking coffee here. Nice! Also, for those of you that have dogs, it definitely appears to be a dog friendly business as there were dogs sitting outside the business as well as some inside the business. We swung by yesterday after our photoshoot and were a bit disappointed. We ordered two hot chocolates and they pretty much give you milk with cocoa powder. I have never been to a place that does this. They should at least have the staff ask if you'd like to sweeten your hot chocolate or at least tell you so it's not a surprise. A great location in the middle of Alexandra and the outdoor area is very attractive. However, that's as far as my positive experience go. We ordered a macchiato and a cortado. They serve in s larger 12" oz paper that is unusual to drink. Not even espresso paper cups even when we got a bit of lecture of those drinks are. The milk was not done right for both drinks, particularly for the macchiato. The coffee tastes close to starbucks. Extra roasted but I guess acceptable for milk drinks. Went here since it's an "Old Town staple." I usually try different cafes when in the area- Misha's was next. The interior has a good amount of seating in the front and a spacious back area. Service was quick and efficient. Only complaint is it's quite pricey (about $7) for a SMALL iced latte that isn't even filled all the way to the top. But, my Lavender Latte was tasty. Nicely made coffee, but it's pricey for the small portions. I wouldn't say it's my favorite coffee in the Old Town ALX area, but it's an option. Decent, but I didn't get a "wow" factor. Found this interesting coffee spot on Yelp and was able to park on the street. Opens early. Overall, great little coffee shoppe with plenty of pastries and breakfast options. Seating located inside and out with plenty of chairs outside on the sidewalk. Service was a little confused on taking orders assuming I had already placed my order. Misha's is a full-service coffee place that has regular brewed coffee as well as espresso and cappuccino lattes etc. In addition, it has an impressive assortment of pastries and rolls that you could turn it into a breakfast or lunch visit. I'm from out-of-town and enjoyed the opportunity to have my cappuccino NOT from a franchise. Pretty convenient location in Old Town. If you've been in the area, you know how difficult parking can be. There's a parking lot directly across the street from the shop and plenty of street parking in either direction on King street. Walking in, the first thing I noticed is the hustle and bustle feel. I went on a Saturday morning, VERY busy and loud, but somehow not uncomfortable. Ordered a hot chai with oat milk. The barista let me know it's spicy and I'm glad she did. It is! Also got some pastries. I had to ask what each team was because there's no labels. I wish they were labeled because it was hard to remember everything and decide what I wanted at the same time. We got here and there was a long line hut staff takes our order while we were waiting so we didn't have to wait long for our coffee. Small little shop. I got a little blueberry pastry and smallest coffee and it was $16 so I didn't like the price too much but ahain, it's old town. I got the iced pitaschio latter and it was okay. Service was really weird vibes. There was a sign announcing their new roast, and I asked for an espresso with that roast. A weird amount of confusion ensued because apparently they only have that in drip. So I asked for a single espresso of their dark roast. Was asked multiple times about milk and how many shots and explained to again that the special was not for espressos. Just a single espresso! This coffee shop is located in old town. It doesn't have parking but you can find that on the street. There's plenty of seating to work remotely from here but not a lot of outlets. I like that they display the coffee beans from around the world and the coffee roaster machine in the back. I noticed many people had their dates here. The service was quick and fast. I got the lavender iced latte on the right and left is iced coffee. Their coffee is little watery and I think it needs more syrup to make it sweeter plus I didn't really taste the lavender. read more

I remember stopping by at their other location and not having such a great experience. However, I was in the area and decided to give them another try. Their menu offers hot and iced coffee drinks, tea, cocoa, and chai; they also have a pastry case that had quiches, croissants, etc. I tried their Coco Loco, which was a more chocolate-y version of the mocha - still strong, and I liked that it was served super hot, as requested! The first time the line was out the door, I was in a hurry, and was lacking in the patience department. The second time Misha's was having trouble with their espresso machine. On the third attempt I finally got lips on one of their cortados; and it was well worth the weight. I sat at a bar height long conference type table right in front of the roasting magic and enjoyed a beautifully crafted cortado. Misha's is my idea of a perfect coffee house with clear jars of coffee beans on shelves, large bags of beans, coffee roasting in the back, some folks working, others chatting with their group and the attractive aroma of coffee lingering. When it comes to the coffee, Misha's is great! I usually just get a iced latte and they're typically pretty quick to get to you, even if there is a bit of a line. And although it's usually pretty packed inside with people perching at the open tables and seats, there is still pretty ample room inside or outside if you'd like to enjoy your beverage or treats there. Now when it comes to service, I've had a bit of a range when it comes to snarky baristas. Just the other day I dropped by to order a latte. The good news was that it was prepared quickly. The challenge was that it came out before I could run to the bathroom. I asked if it was okay if they could just keep it close while I run to the back (since it would be awkward to take it in and there was no top on it.) If the barista had said, "No, I'm sorry you need to take it now" or "No, I'm sorry I have to leave it out on this table" I would respectfully understood that's just how business operates and it would not have turned me off. But instead, the barista just intensely stares me in the eyes while placing the the latte further away from him in the pick up area. As a drink without a lid, all I was hoping was for an eye on it for safety reasons while I ran to the bathroom. And even if that was not an option, he could have responded with words instead of passive aggressive dismissal. The whole experience made me feel uneasy and made me realize I should just stick to ESP Tea and Coffee down the street where they're always warm and welcoming. It's not *just* about the coffee so with that, I'd rather start spending my money elsewhere. read more

I got a vanilla latte and a donut, and didn't even have to wait more than 3 minutes. They always play some type of music, but never crazy loud like Starbucks. A cute little coffee place. Unfortunately, the over $7 latte I purchased was undrinkable. It tasted like water, milk, and a little drip coffee. The barista was polite but unsmiling and spoke to me as little as possible. The staff also let a customer's dog keep jumping onto the counter with their front paws, where food and beverage were being laid out. The interior was abuzz with conversation as you'd expect from any good coffeehouse. The coffee was great, but the pastry was a little too sweet for me (coming from someone with a sweet tooth!).
