I was at a business meeting at the hotel next door, so I popped into this cafe for some early morning caffeine. I ordered the Freddo Cappuccino and a cool slice of chocolate cake- their cake of the day! The cafe is somewhat comfortable and I think there are enough tables for about ten customers. There is a barstool section and also an elevated dining room area which is rather small. Interestingly, they also have a wheelchair lift for people with disabilities to get to that level and also the entrance door to the hotel. That being said, it seems like this cafe services a lot of people who stay at the hotel. The cake was delicious and Freddo Cappuccino was even better. Sooo, I've been going to this cafe for a little while and it was such a treat to try something new. I like the concept. Typically, has plenty of pastry options and they all look delicious. They also have brunch and lunch style options which is great if you plan to stay awhile. However, the drinks are lazily made with an automated system that will scorch your drink if you are not well-versed as a barista. For an almost $10 drink (once you add the milk and syrup), it's starting to be more apparent that they are just trying to make a quick drink versus a good drink. I found this place back in 2021 and finally returned in 2024; this Alexandria location. It's so crazy because I live in New York and have YET to go to a For Five in the city. The place is actually a pretty good size. Although it has its own entrance from the street, it's located inside of a corporate building. So I imagine that it gets busy. There is plenty of room to sit and lounge inside and a few outside for when the weather is nicer. One thing that hasn't changed about this place is the efficiency of the baristas. They work quickly. I got my latte immediately after ordering it. I would say roughly 2 minutes. I keep my latte simple with almond milk. It's always a great choice. The coffee always tastes good for me. I have yet to be disappointed. I did not get a pastry this time. But I do remember that in 2021, I got an almond croissant and I enjoyed it. They had cake slices available but I just wasn't feeling any of them. They were coconut and lemon. Hopefully, it won't take me 3 years to get into a For Five... Searched for a shop that offers Matcha tea and came across For Five Coffee. It's was a 10 min walk from my hotel so I decided to sit and eat while I'll cooled down from the summer heat. When I walked in there was no real order to the line so I asked if anyone needed to order. Once I made my way to the front of the 4 person line the gentleman who took my order I felt wasn't very friendly to me but I ignored it and placed an order for a ice blueberry matcha and egg croissant sandwich. The space is very nice and is conveniently-located across from the King St. Metro. However, I would not return due to the prices. I wanted a plain croissant and an Americano with almond milk. If I'd gotten both the price would have been close to $15. Instead, I just got the croissant and paid about $7. I took a few bites and found it to have too much salt. A few other things. If you don't like very loud music, they do have tables outside. I was nearby and wanted to find some fun coffee shops that I hadn't been to before and that wasn't Starbucks. This place popped up, and I was fascinated by the photos. Location wise, it's directly across the street from King Street metro station, underneath a Carr workspaces building. This is probably super convenient for people using the metro or working in nearby buildings. This is a pain for people driving and needing to find a parking spot, even on a Sunday. I ordered the Louie, and two of their stuffed cookies for myself and my daughter because they looked awesome. I think my smores cookie was really good, better even than my daughter's rainbow cookie despite hers just looking the coolest. My drink wasn't bad. I ordered the gotham mocha to go for my hubby and snuck a sip; I think it was better than the Louie personally. I saw the menu prices online and did quirk my eyebrow a little about how expensive their food options were, and didn't completely believe it until I saw the prices in person. That being said, when they came out of the kitchen with those dishes, I have to admit they looked super fancy. I had wanted to get a half dozen cookies, but it would've totaled to $33.... bit much. So glad I went it is definitely more than a coffee shop, which was what I was expecting. The place is super cute and across from the train station. So convenient if you're riding the train into town.
