I was at a business meeting at the hotel next door, so I popped into this cafe for some early morning caffeine. I ordered the Freddo Cappuccino and a cool slice of chocolate cake- their cake of the day! The cafe is somewhat comfortable and I think there are enough tables for about ten customers. There is a barstool section and also an elevated dining room area which is rather small. Interestingly, they also have a wheelchair lift for people with disabilities to get to that level and also the entrance door to the hotel. That being said, it seems like this cafe services a lot of people who stay at the hotel. The cake was delicious and Freddo Cappuccino was even better. I found this place back in 2021 and finally returned in 2024; this Alexandria location. It's so crazy because I live in New York and have YET to go to a For Five in the city. The place is actually a pretty good size. Although it has its own entrance from the street, it's located inside of a corporate building. So I imagine that it gets busy. There is plenty of room to sit and lounge inside and a few outside for when the weather is nicer. One thing that hasn't changed about this place is the efficiency of the baristas. They work quickly. I got my latte immediately after ordering it. I would say roughly 2 minutes. I keep my latte simple with almond milk. It's always a great choice. The coffee always tastes good for me. I have yet to be disappointed. I did not get a pastry this time. But I do remember that in 2021, I got an almond croissant and I enjoyed it. They had cake slices available but I just wasn't feeling any of them. They were coconut and lemon. Hopefully, it won't take me 3 years to get into a For Five... Today I asked for a receipt because the price on the wall and my total had a ~$3 difference and I wanted to see the details. Location wise, it's directly across the street from King Street metro station, underneath a Carr workspaces building. Because $15 for coffee and a pastry is completely overpriced for the location. $23 for a "bowl" for lunch is $8 overpriced. It's painfully obvious that while I pick up coffee and a well-made croissant, I'm paying for the landlord overcharging on their rent.
