    Iced Vietnamese coffee
    Peggy L.

Ordered small iced Vietnamese coffee and it's actually good and strong. So, definitely an improvement from other coffee drink I had earlier. More caffeine and decent tasting, and more importantly it tastes like other Vietnamese coffee. Approved of this and seems like it's a good place for a boba drink as well. The service was quick and friendly! I got my coffee fix right away like a minute after I just paid. The environment here seems very cozy and warm feeling with cute decors around.

My wife and I came here after our morning walk and were pleasantly surprised by this quaint spot. We grabbed some breakfast and coffee and loved it right away. She loved her iced latte and ate her cream cheese bagel while I demolished my turkey egg and cheese sandwich. It was pretty goood too! We may have found our new local coffee spot !!! We will certainly be back. Overall, loved the food. Service was fast and quick. The decor with the faux flowers along the walls and lavender theme in the back seating area was a nice touch. Plenty of people came after we prepared to leave with laptops and books in tow. Definitely a chill, low noise, work ready environment with calming music playing in the background. Again, a great place to work. We maybe back for a coffee or deep work session in the near future. Only time will tell lol

Java Loco has solid Vietnamese coffee. It's pretty much the only place on Rt. 1 where you can easily get it, and it is pretty good. I actually like the red eye for a stronger coffee taste - they add a fresh shot of espresso to the Vietnamese coffee. There is a lot of seating, parking and it's clean. The service is quick and efficient as well. However their food isn't always fresh (particularly the lox bagel which just wasn't appetizing) and the prices are a bit high, so I only come here once in a while for coffee.

About a 1-1.5: Located in Mount Vernon Plaza, this particular Java Loco seems to be slightly larger in space than their Alexandria's location - the space is much more brighter, and there's ample parking in the large plaza lot. While their Chai latte was okay, it could have been served piping hot - not sure if they have to re-calibrate their machines or something, but not sure how coffee can be served anything but? In addition, the staff here are not the friendliest - is it that hard to be dressed in a smile? No need to make your patrons feels uncomfortable by giving off negative vibes... Besides the interior of the place, there are preferred coffee shops that one can frequent - this location would be a no dice. +unfriendly staff +lukewarm beverages +cute interior +located in Mount Vernon Plaza +plenty of parking in large plaza lot

Cuban coffee and a 24 oz. Chai Tea

We stopped into Java Loco on a Friday night at 6. I got the chai and it was absolutely spiced the way an authentic chai should be. My partner got a Cuban coffee and it was very robust in flavor. Ten out of ten would come back and try more menu options. The ambiance is trendy modern casual. And our service was quick and friendly.

The ambiance allow speaks for itself....gorgeous nook area in the back of this cafe for work or play. I was excited to see they had different bubble tea options than some of the other bubble tea spots. My Moonlight Mango was soooo good, 10/10!

We stoped by to have lunch today. Two sandwiches and a large mango smoothie. All very good. Miss the smoothies from Hawaii and this was the next best thing. Place is clean and pretty. Unfortunately there was a fellow patron on speakerphone that tuned the vibe. Service was pleasant and quick. Counter service only. Place filled up quickly after we arrived at noon.

The second I walked in, I knew this was a great choice. Lovely decor, relaxing music and lots of open space. The customer service was very accommodating and kind. My pistachio latte tasted great, and they even have boardgames in the back! For once, I'm actually really grateful this place has replaced Starbucks. A wonderful place for reading, work or just a little break. I'll be back!

Did not like my Coconut Smoothie with honey boba and my partner did not like his 24 oz. Mango Tango Tea :( We LOVE boba but this place.

Both drinks that we got did not meet our expectations. Love boba but this palace disappointed. Place was decorated pretty

The avocado was spread so thin it wasn't even a smash, and it could have used some extra seasoning -- salt, pepper, maybe -- to bring it to life. Underwhelming for a menu centerpiece. The carrot cake fared better, moist and well-spiced. Two more things kept this from five stars. Gluten-free eaters get exactly one option -- the carrot cake -- while the zucchini bread and the rest of the dessert case all run on flour. A café this charming could do more there. And the table service ran cold. The food got dropped at the table with no check-in -- no "anything else I can get for you?" -- just gone. Still, the space, the theme, the coffee, and the carrot cake earn a return trip. Four stars.

Easy to miss even though we were looking, we ended up parking next door and walking over. They have…read morea gravel lot and are set far back so it sort of looks like a house. We did not see it driving south. Hopefully I now know where it is, I guess maybe we'll see. Inside, there are 6 tables and some of them are 2-3 seaters. We got lucky and there was a (single) table free. This was around 1 on a weekend, so perhaps end of lunch rush but if so I'd dread trying to plan to eat here actually during a meal time. Suggest having a backup plan just in case if that's you. You order at the counter but there were menus at the free table so you can peruse then come and order (and also hold your table). There are also menus at the counter. The menu is pretty broad for a cafe. It has a ton of sweet stuff, a ton of breakfast stuff, some "ethnic" stuff and some sandwhich stuff and a few soups. They also have a diverse number of smoothies and other sweets and coffee and other caffinated beverages. Before I forget, the water is 50 cents and is one of those little bottles...so basically no free water. The pastries are behind glass counters and presumably would be fast to go in and point and grab something. We ordered a "mango" crepe, soup and sandwhich (lobster bisque and ham and cheese), nutella crepe and an order of cucumber toast. SO also had a cold caffinated drink, I believe a cold brew latte. The food is very slow. Folks came in and ordered to go just smoothies and pastries, and while they mercifully got served before us, but I'm not sure I would have had their patience for just that. There is, for example, a boba place further down route 1. I guess by the time you get there and order and are served it might be faster, just depends where you are from and how bad your craving is. Anyway, I was low key starting to worry we got forgotten as everyone else was leaving but we got everything. It came in shifts, our crepes and drinks first then our meals second. I guess that's the right order by the time of day but lightly weird to have sweet before savory. Anyway, we weren't anywhere close to done by the time they second came out so all good. The food was all very good. The sandwhich was not big, maybe the size of a hamburger or even jr bacon cheeseburger (ala Wendys) but the soup was big and I had a crepe to eat too anyway. One of our neighbors said the mango crepe wasn't sweet, SO said it was super sweet, so your milage may vary depending on your tooth. The nutella crepe was jammed full of nutella so 0 complaints there. The toast did not look visually great (I didn't eat any) but SO said it was what advertised so maybe just not my type of food. I thought it was sort of small but it was also a few bucks less than the bigger dishes so...maybe fine? Fine with them anyway :) The worst part of the meal IMO was the water, hopefully they consider giving free tap in a bigger glass in the future. There is one bathroom which the staff shares with the patrons. I guess your milage may vary there too but it was never awkward. It's a pretty big bathroom...my guess is the place was actually a house that they converted to the restaurant, the front order area being the living room, the 2 eating rooms being bedrooms, and the kitchen being...the kitchen :P The placement of the bathroom would suck for a house anyway, so maybe they made the right call :P Overall, my experience was good but we did get a seat. I can imagine a lower rating if we didn't. I'd go there again but I would not take a large party and I'm not sure it's worth the drive from where we are to go out of our way. But that doesn't detract from my rating, that's just my choice. One more thing to add: the menu linked to Yelp is not complete. The photos taken are their active menu as of this review. Appreciate the person who took the time to post that.

So I said why not, and stopped here on a weekday (today) around 1:30pm. I ignored the fact that the tables and chairs outside the entrance were in disarray and walked inside. I looked around, noticing first a narrow hallway to my right with one small table and a snack bar. To my left were two more small tables. Loud music of an unrecognizable genre was blasting away. I was the only customer. It didn't look promising, but I figured I could order something and take it home. I looked up at the electronic monitor to see if there was a menu, but it just was displaying an outdoor scene. Then I noticed a woman sitting in the corner on a stool intently fiddling with her phone. She looked up, her face as blank as a refrigerator door and muttered something unintelligible (and certainly not welcoming) and pointed to the counter. She then went back to playing with her phone. Oh no you don't treat customers like that, and think you are going to make a sale. I left immediately, never to come back. Just a totally inhospitable ambience.

I stumbled upon Milk and Honey Cafe, intrigued by its menu featuring Southern staples like chicken and waffles and biscuits. From the moment I walked in, the customer service was warm and welcoming. And if you know anything about soul food spots, you'll know that sometimes a low-key or even gruff welcome is a sign the food's about to blow your mind, so the friendly vibe had me both surprised & optimistic. I ordered the cheese egg biscuit sandwich, which came in at $10. Let me tell you, the portion size was generous, definitely enough for two meals. The biscuit was fluffy, buttery, and had just a touch of sweetness, which paired perfectly with the savory cheese eggs. I always ask for cheese eggs when I eat out, and most places miss the mark. Not here. They got it exactly right. Coffee-wise, it was simple: basic drip with International Delight creamer. Nothing fancy, but honestly, it hit the spot and fit the vibe. The ambiance really sealed the experience. A smooth R\&B playlist floated through the space, adding to the cozy, feel-good atmosphere. It was a refreshing contrast to the more sterile, minimalist coffee shops I'm used to back home in Sacramento. All in all, Milk and Honey Cafe delivered on food, flavor, and feeling. If you're in the Alexandria area and craving soulful comfort food with a solid vibe, this spot is a must.
