Long review coming: I'm visiting from out of town and came here with my sisters because they've enjoyed their orders the few times they've come and it was close by. The young lady making drinks today I assume is not who's made their drinks in the past because the service and the drinks were not what we were expecting! We ordered a dulce de leche latte, pistachio cortado, and a gingerbread cappuccino to enjoy in the shop. The drinks were given to us and the cappuccino was handed to us in a to go cup, which is fine? (Kind of?) because we can be flexible, but when we inquired on it being in a to go cup, the young lady said it was because they didn't have anymore glasses. We're sitting at the high top and can visibly see her making the drink IN A GLASS but made too much to where it was spilling over and then decided to move it to a to go cup...? And we could also visibly see more glasses so we were confused but let it go, yet felt like a better excuse could have been used. Maybe just the truth lol. That drink and the pistachio cortado weren't very good. Neither had much flavor at all but we definitely expected more from the gingerbread one at least because that's a fairly sweet flavor profile and seasonal item. My sister goes up to order another drink (triple shot of espresso with pistachio cold foam over ice) because the cappuccino is pretty bad. Not returning the cappuccino either, just respectfully ordering a new drink. Same young lady 1). Puts a double shot 2). Made the drink hot and blended with a frother. After reminding her it's supposed to cold, she just takes the drink and pours it over ice. Mistakes can be made, but after inquiring on if there were 2 or 3 shots she insisted there were. 3). After inquiring on why there wasn't cold foam topping as ordered, she said it's already in there just mixed in. If we hadn't seen her just do everything incorrectly, 2xs in a row I think we could have been more sympathetic. Offering to remake the drink correctly or at least add the 3rd shot of espresso would have been appreciated. Since neither of these happened, we decided to just take this last drink and leave versus cause a scene. The dulce de leche was good! ...that's it. I can't speak for my sisters, but if I'm in town again, I personally will not be visiting this coffee shop again.
Great little small coffee shop with limited seating. First time here and wanted to try both their coffee and breakfast offerings to-go. Coffee is affordably priced. I got the iced shaken espresso with vanilla sweet foam and was initially worried the coffee may come out too strong since I didn't add a flavor syrup but it was perfect! Their food is okay. The breakfast platter wasn't anything too special and kind of small compared to a platter you would get from a breakfast diner but I like that they use chicken/turkey instead of pork. The sausage egg and cheese bagel is pretty big I could only finish half of it for breakfast. I will definitely be back for their other drinks but might skip on the food items. I ordered two drinks and the staff were so friendly offering me a 2 cup holder on my way out seeing that I had a lot to carry.

We enjoyed our breakfast here and highly recommend the following dishes. - Their specialty coffee, like Dulce de Leche, was incredible--perfect for satisfying morning caffeine needs and sweet cravings. - The Norwegian Crepe featured a moist, perfectly cooked crepe--not hard or dry--with smoked salmon, capers, and dill cream cheese inside, topped with bell tomatoes and pickled onion. It's a healthy yet hearty option that isn't heavy. - Banh Mi Chicken Crepe was the highlight--very unique and different, made with marinated pulled chicken, fresh vegetable salad, and avocado aioli, resembling a Vietnamese banh mi sandwich but in a crepe with a kick. So yummy! - French Toast with pistachio cream was also excellent--moist in the center, topped with sweet pistachio cream and knafe bits, adding sweetness and crunch.
Beautiful atmosphere, lots of parking and a delicious menu! I had the Dulce de leche iced latte and it was so cute and even had Dulce de leche topping! The service was immaculate , I was greeted happily and with a smile. Also ample space to do work!
What a lovely cafe! Came for a working quick bite and it was crowded upon entrance -- which was a good sign. Thankfully a table opened and we were able to set up shop. Order the Moroccan mint tea and turkey sandwich with the kale salad. Everything tasted good and the employees were nice; gave us suggestions and the food was brought to us. Would definitely visit again!
So excited to run into this cafe. The food that the patrons were eating looked delish and my pastry and cortado were fantastic. I need to revisit for a more thorough experience. They serve food like a diner, but have the space of a cafe.
I was attracted to the name because I love cortados! I can't speak much to the service or interior because I got a cortado to go, but what I can say is that my cortado was very good:) I got the Havana cortado, which has cinnamon and is sweetened with condensed milk. So good! I would definitely stop by for a cortado next time I'm nearby.
Tiny but extremely popular cafe with a solid selection of drinks, food, and pastry options. I came here on a Saturday morning with my GF and the line was almost out the door. This being said, it moved very quickly and our food was also prepared very quickly as well. We were lucky enough to get a table inside (they have a few outside as well), but it was pretty cramped I opted for a crème brûlée latte and a BEC, while my GF opted for a vanilla latte and a muffin. Everything was fantastic, although they did give me my drink iced rather than hot as I requested
Very cute place. The food was really good for a quick casual breakfast. Definitely recommend the mint tea and matcha tea. The service was also a highlight as the workers were very pleasant

This is my second time here, and Cortado Cafe is quickly becoming a favorite. My first visit, I tried the butter chicken and tres leches crepes and was so impressed I'd been thinking about coming back ever since. A week later, I'm back. This time I ordered the mushroom crepe, added a few eggs, and it was so damn good I literally stopped eating to write this review . The staff are kind, the space is clean and inviting, and the smooth jazz perfectly complements the atmosphere--especially if you want somewhere relaxing to read. And most importantly, the food is fantastic. I'll definitely be back very soon. read more
My friend recommended we stop in this busy cafe for a drink. I love that they had designated some "laptop free" tables between 10am and 2pm on weekends because it was indeed very busy and most of the seating was taken. I enjoyed a latte and my friend had tea served in a very ornate silver teapot with a tiny glass. My friend ordered a savory crepe (Norwegian, with smoked salmon, capers, dill cream cheese and red onions). The sweet crepes sound delicious as well -- biscoff, tres leches, Dubai chocolate, tiramisu.... Lots of great menu items, friendly, bright, fresh. read more
Coffee review Had a delicious mint mocha here, it was so smooth and creamy and on their specials menu! My husband got the Havana latte and really liked it. The place was packed for breakfast/brunch and the food looked incredible. I was sad I had eaten breakfast before and couldn't get anything. Not a ton of seating, best for groups of 2 to 4. Let's run it; The cashiers seem to be ready to assist us customers. The place provides a bright welcoming and fresh environment. I've decided to give this place a try since it's around the block, yes there's a dunkin but this is Cortado Cafe like cmon. Tons of delightful options and pricing!. Yes they are stocked up on their sugars and such. Anyways Decent place to read as well. My only complaint would be regarding to go cups: to possibly make it easier to open, struggled to open a bit. read more
What a lovely breakfast spot in Alexandria near Cameron Station. I do not hide my love for breakfast and this new modern and quaint cafe was a great find! Service was personal and kind, the ambiance quiet and wifi a nice additional touch. Loved the coffee and eggs Benedict. I'm told by a frequent diner that the pancakes are delicious. I had a physical therapy appointment in the same plaza and wanted a morning coffee (I got the tiramisu latte, Yum. Very nice staff and quick service. The menu seems very versatile. I went with a basic egg and cheese bagel but I should have gone with one of the danishes in the display box because it looked delish warmed up. Great work cafe, seating for about 20 to 25 inside and a few tables outside as well. read more
Cortado Cafe is one of those unassuming places that isn't "aesthetic" like a lot of coffee shops in the area but has incredible coffee and service. I love their iced shaken espresso over milk with some cold foam. I also think their food portions tend to be generous. The pricing is incredible - no $9 lattes over here (who needs that in this economy right?!). In terms of seating, there isn't a ton and I'd say it would likely be hard to have a "private" conversation here so plan accordingly, but if you're looking for a robust well priced coffee on the go, definitely check it out! read more
Went for breakfast on Saturday morning and it was really busy. It's very tiny inside & they have very limited tables. The food was really good and so was the coffee. It's little on the pricier side but definitely good for a once in a while stop by. The food and coffee did take a bit of a long time to come out. read more
Apparently they got a lot of regulars here because the staff recognized me as new! They seem to do a steady stream of business. Ambiance: 5/5 Seating is comfortable and the decor is minimalist but classy. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Food: 4/5 I got a latte and a croissant, both good. I've had better, but I'd rank this as still good coffee. Service: 5/5 Staff are doing a great job. No complaints. read more

I took my daughter here for her 20th birthday for brunch. I was looking for a cute coffee shop and they definitely delivered. The service was great, they brought the food out to us. The food itself was delicious and the iced caramel macchiato was amazing. Highly recommend this location. read more

A nice cafe, tidy and bright, in the middle of a pretty convenient shopping center, Cortado holds pretty accessible hours, even on Sunday. One thing to note if you're planning to do work, though, is that tables are limited to food and drink on the weekend during brunch/lunch hours. The high counter by the door can be used for work at those times, though, if that suits you. As for the menu, the drink selection is decent, with the London Fog being a pleasant addition, though the matcha left something to be desired, as the flavour was a bit thin. For vegetarians, there are a few options on the menu that can work. I would recommend the Caprese Panini, myself. Vegans may have to ask if items can be made without cheese, especially, but the quinoa avocado salad may be an option. read more

We came on a weekend late morning. It was already very busy during this time. I felt a sense of feeling of family from customers and staff, which is awesome. The waiters/staff remember their customers and customers compliments how busy this cafe gets and how popular this cafe is getting. I just ordered the avocado toast and their drip coffee. No complaints! Coffee tasted great, very smooth and not too bitter. Toast was just a normal toast, nothing out of the ordinary. The place is a bit small and tight, so just be aware of you want to work/study here. But I highly recommend for you to try out this place! read more

Overall, Cortado Cafe (Alexandria Duke Street) is a cozy spot with tasty food and a chill atmosphere. I'll definitely be back to try more from their menu! I ordered the Chicken Avocado Panini with a side salad, and it was delicious. My friend got the Turkey Sandwich and Moroccan Mint Tea. While I didn't try the sandwich, the tea was good--calming and fragrant. For drinks, I got an iced Tiramisu Latte. It was okay, but I didn't get much of a tiramisu or coffee flavor--mostly milk and cocoa powder--but it wasn't bad. The vibe is wonderful! I loved the big, comfy chairs and the spacious tables. It's a great spot to relax, work, or catch up with a friend. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, which added to the experience. Would recommend! read more

Stopped in for a little breakfast since my wife had gotten coffee here before and recommended we go. I had a mocha and a pecan bar. Their coffees are quite large. It's light on the chocolate, but I think it was a nice balance since I went with the pecan bar which was a little sweet. The pecan bar was really good, kind of a croissant dough with the chopped nuts on top and maybe a light drizzle of honey or caramel. My wife had an apple caramel latte, which was also really good. Something I wouldn't have expected as a combination, but it worked very well. read more
In September, we visited this sophisticated little café for the first time. The counter and display is very appealing, and I immediately wanted to say, "Yes, one of everything!" Pretty pastries and delectable delights perfect for pairing with a cuppa tea or a hot java. We wanted a full meal, so I ordered an omelette loaded with veggies, a side of potatoes and freshly sliced avocado. Everything was so flavorful and cooked just right. Hubby chose a roast beef sandwich with chips. I think it was ciabatta bread. It looked good and as fast as it disappeared, I'm pretty sure it tasted good. Since the weather was perfect, we dined al fresco. The tables were spaced nicely. Lovely flower boxes made for a relaxing setting, and we had a great meal. The service was great. Our food was made fresh and brought out to us quickly. Staff were friendly. I would love to return when I am in the area again. read more
