Great experience here. As the name suggests, it was hidden from the road and has backyard vibes with the campfire out back. They were clearly short-staffed but everyone was super helpful and service was overall very good. We got two burgers which were both amazing (Whiskey BBQ Bacon and Headbanger) and the poutine tots were one of my favorite appetizers ever. This was the worst place we went all weekend! Granted the weekend was busy and we were welcomed/warned about the wait; patio service did not exist. The "bartender/server," took about 20 minutes to welcome/take a drink request but actually never took the drink request just merely told us there was a full service bar inside. It was relatively cool that night so we opted to dine outside to avoid the chaos of inside however after 30 minutes I just walked inside and ordered drinks with cash. Then I proceeded to watch the employee working outside constantly walk through the patio door only to puff his vape and disappear again. At approximately an hour the table next to us ordered and I summoned the waiter to our table, literally right next to it as I was petting their dog. He looked confused, took our order, and disappeared. 45 minutes later food was delivered to the patio and served to two people who had not been there any longer than 30 minutes at this point it had been nearly 1:45. The couple next to us excused themselves and so did we. Why keep the patio open if your staff is incompetent or unable to articulate the night issues? The original hostess at the front door was but the outdoor host/bartender/employee was utterly incompetent. I think if the kitchen is over worked due to tourists then my recommendation would be to close the patio to drinks only or close it completely. Cool looking spot will probably never return. Too many places to eat, that welcome the business and manage it accordingly. read more

Each time we dine at backyard we have friendly and efficient service and the food is well prepared. The tots were the mvp tonight. We each got a burger, but only one of us upgraded to tots. They were definitely the move. This bar is lively + full of chatter + music. My boyfriend and I went here twice while we were on vacation. We loved it! The bar is rather large- several tables and many counter seats. Two pool tables, a jukebox, a few TVs. They have an outside enclosed porch area with several comfy couches and another bar. It's clearly a place where the locals go. The bartender recognized us on our second night and remembered our drinks. They had reasonable prices for drinks and food. The overflowing basket of fries we ordered were $4. I'd definitely recommend! All the restaurants in the area are busy, chaotic, and expensive. This place is a better choice. read more

Was not impressed with the food or service here. The chicken sandwich was possibly the least satisfying chicken sandwich I have ever had, and one that I had to wait a REALLY long time to get. The chicken patty was mostly breading and the actual chicken part could not have been half of a centimeter. Parts of the patty were just extended breading. There was zero flavor (could not taste chicken) and it was dry. It was served with stale tortilla chips that were clearly the small crumbs at the bottom of the bag. The smash burgers were incredible, tots, fresh crunchy salad, queso and chips - everything perfection! Great tap list too. Sat in the patio during the rain. It was lovely. The waitress was excellent and she know about every single beer that was on the board. We were surrounded by locals who were all so polite and engaging. They loved this place. My husband and I both got burgers and I enjoyed the Bleu Cheese burger, cooked perfectly and super tastey. My friend picked up a pulled pork sandwich through the Everyone eats program and really enjoyed it. She kept recommending it so we stopped by today. My picky teen loved it sooo much she said things like: 'The best sandwich I've ever eaten..I don't want to eat anything else because I want the taste to last in my mouth forever...this is the best salad I've ever gotten from a restaurant (her family owns several)... this is sooooo good!!!' I'm a vegetarian so I just tried the salad. It was better than most and included ripe chopped tomato, shredded cabbage and carrots and a homemade ranch dressing.
