Me and my partner decided to travel up to San Jose for my birthday festivities and I was really craving for some oxtails. I've been hearing about Jamaican oxtails so I decided to give this place a try and man oh man. What have I been missing out on! It came with 3 drumsticks, 4 oxtails, Jamaican rice and beans, and fried plantains and enough sauce at the bottom too. That flavor combo with a bite of everything was divine! It had a nice heat flavor too. The fried plaintain was stjll so crispy even after 2 hours and its sweetness mellowed out the spice and savoryness. This place has their flavor profile on point as im a cook and look for that balance of flavors when i go out to eat. It was beyond good. I can tell they took their time to make the Đuôi Bò, it's exquisite. The Jerk Chicken had this smokiness to it. The Gravy was deep in flavor, savory, and I can taste some heat from the Bonnet Peppers; it complimented it very well on top of the Peas & Rice. And the Fried Plantains were cooked to perfection. Love me some good Jamaican food and I love me some Back A Yard. Came by for a weekday lunch with some of my coworkers who had never had Jamaican food before. This restaurant isn't great for large parties as there's one table that can fit around 12 people and 6-8 or so tables that can seat 4. The food is good with a good amount of spice I the jerk seasoning. My oxtail was very tender and flavorful, and I loved the plantains that were caramelized. Went to Back A Yard a few weeks ago. I liked my entree and I bought some of the Jerk sauce they sell.

Was in the area charging my car at the Tesla supercharger, so I had some time to kill. This is an older strip mall, several areas vacant. There were a handful of customers inside, so gave it a try. Ordered pork spare ribs that comes with fries and Cole slaw from a very nice lady working the register. Ribs were pretty good...a little too fatty, and not "falling off the bone tender" like the treat bbq houses. Service and kitchen very quick...I would come back if using this charging location again. It was crispy yet juicy and bouncy with how the pork was made. The salmon on the other hand, was crispy and wasn't dry. The place is always clean and you get good service from the staff. It's a place you order from the counter and take your food to any available table. I'm a big fan of the yard plates. I've had the chicken, and the salmon prior but the goat is the favorite here. I don't know how authentic it is as "carribean" food but it is genuinely spiced delicious curry with a flavor combination you don't really get anywhere else. Oh man, I've been missing having West Indian food living on the Central Coast. There is absolutely no Jamaican food anywhere between Los Angeles and The Bay. (Maybe I'll open up a store, ) I travelled 60 miles to get a fix! This restaurant is a part of a chain of West Indian restaurants in the San Jose area. I think there are 3 locations. There was a lot of seating and you have to walk up to the counter to place your order and retrieve your food. I didn't like the fact that there was no ice for your drink. Even though I dined in, everything came in plastic. There are high chairs for the kiddos and the unisex restroom was very clean. As for the food, I got the jerk chicken & oxtails w/ rice & peas (I also added extra oxtail gravy on the rice & peas). They also didn't have cabbage, which was weird. The oxtails were delicious! They melted off the bone and the stew was savory and had a little kick. The jerk chicken wasn't the best, but I prefer a wetter jerk sauce, but it was good. The rice and peas were good.
