We were so excited to try Bacari for the first time as we had heard how great the food was. Yes, the food and drinks were excellent but our dining experience was very disappointing. We felt unwelcome and rushed the entire time. When you're spending $300+ on dinner you want to enjoy your time. We were told at least 8 times that we had a 2 hour time window for our table. 1 friendly reminder at the beginning of dinner would have been enough or maybe a little note on the table. Or maybe revisit the time block considering the price point of the menu and allowing guests to fully enjoy their meal. Instead, the owner hovered over us the ENTIRE time telling us how anxious she was about our time limit. We had just ordered starters and she was pushing us to order our dinner. We felt tense and uncomfortable the whole time and we won't be going back. This makes me sad because we love supporting local, small businesses. Gresham needs a place like this and we really did enjoy the food but we don't need to spend that kind of money to feel unwelcome. We'll take our business somewhere where it's appreciated. read more

We ate at the tiny chefs table tucked to the side in this charming French bistro inspired restaurant. There are all of four tables in this petite place but the heart and soul of the owner and chef are far bigger than this! We were warmly welcomed. Unfortunately we only had an hour to dine as we were off to the movies, but our timeline was honored and everything was incredible, promising we will return! We had a glass of the French red blend. All wines being carefully selected by our hostess, it was delicious. We throughly enjoyed the composed salad, followed by the pasta dinner special which was a creamy shrimp scampi done to perfection. Cheers to the chef and her partner in the kitchen. I'm a little afraid to sing your praises too loudly as we won't be able to get in next time. But you deserve it. My husband and I stopped in at Bacari a while back and had a wonderful experience. It is a great place for a date night. It is a very small space, but they use it well. My husband got the lamb shepherds pie and he says that it was the best he has ever had. I had the seafood linguini with cod and prawns. It was a delicious dish. We saw all the amazing reviews and decided we had to try this place out! It had outdoor seating which was great as I have a 4 month old and I feel less stressed about him making noises outside. We heard the specials and were so excited! We ordered drinks, appetizers, and entrees. The drinks came relatively quickly... over an hour later still no appetizers. Another couple sits down and with in 30 minutes they got their salad. Now an hour and 30 in we ask the waiter and he says oh yes they are coming right out. The waitress walks out and goes to the other table that just sat down and got apps already and now thier meal! My son has been great for the first 1.5 hours and now he is starting to get fussy and this mommy is starting to stress out. Finally our apps come out... minus my husband's which took another 10 minutes, mind you these were cold apps (salad and a cheese plate) . At the 2 hour mark I decide to ask for an ETA as my little one was losing it. I walk in and politely ask for an ETA. The owner (i assume) looks at me and says "why? Do you have some where to be?". The stressed mommy in me wanted to freak out but I politely responded with "no but it's been 2 hours and my baby is starting to lose it". She then responds with "15 minutes". So 2 hours and 15 minutes we finally got our food. The food was just okay. Not bad but not 2 hours good...I really believe some how our table got missed and i was going to let it go if we got some sort of apology for the mess up or the wait. But no, we got nothing but a very expensive 3 hour meal and a waiter who stopped looking us in the eye... we will not be going back. read more

This is the teeny tiniest restaurant I've ever been in. They only have three tables inside. The menu changes depending on what's available fresh. The drinks were delicious. I had a rhubarb ginger lemon drop. Yummy! No beer on tap but excellent bottled choices. We had the king Chinook salmon with French lentils, bacon and cherry tomatoes, the halibut served on potato stuffed puff pastry, a strawberry salad, and Cesar salad. The drink took a long time but worth the wait! Ask for water so you have something to sip on while waiting for your drink. You must try the truffle butter with the bread. So good! But don't eat too much! You won't be able to finish your dinner! The salads were perfect. Not swimming in dressing but not dry at all. Just right! Strawberries were ripe and sweet. The seafood entrees were the best we've ever had anywhere, truly. You must try this place. Make a reservation. They can only seat ten at one time. Half the draw of this little place is the anticipation. You will never be disappointed, i don't think. And sorry. We did not order dessert. We're rolling out of here as it is and have no room! (The portions were more than adequate.) But the table next to us ordered strawberry shortcake that looked to die for and they loved it, so.... One last thing, don't go here if you're in a hurry. It's a perfect first date or anniversary spot. Quaint and fun and romantic. Definitely best for special occasions. Our dinner for two (entrees, salads and bread) plus three drinks was $127, so this is more like a $$$ place. And way worth every penny!!! And to be honest, our bill was actually less than we expected. The chef knows what she's doing and works hard! We'll visit again if we ever find ourselves in Gresham again. I was looking for seafood in Gresham and this restaurant was listed. Though it said petit I was surprised by the size.. 3 i side tables. Luckily it was a lovely day and an ouside table was available. Although the name says petit the food is not. The portions are substantial and AMAZING. Like many of the reviews, I will echo the same - not a good as hoped or paid for. The waitress was great and our specialty cocktails were a great start, but that is where it ended. We ordered two salads. I had the brie salad which was presented with some old greens topped with a wedge of warmed brie in the rind with overripe pears and toasted hazelnuts. Somewhat difficult to eat and lacked any flavor or freshness. My husband ordered their specialty salad, which was papaya/mango with feta and almonds. The fruit on his salad was underripe and again lacked flavor and freshness, especially for a $20 salad. I had the bacon wrapped fillet, which was prepared very well, but lacked a starch to accompany ($46). My husband ordered the pasta special. This had smoke salmon with dill sauce on a bow tie pasta, which had good flavors. It was supposed to have clams, but the clams were missing. When asked, the waitress brought us clams on the side that were not cooked well (slimy) thus we returned. We were celebrating special event, thus had hopes for a special dinner, but were disappointed. We won't be returning or recommending unfortunately. read more

The food here was indeed amazing. I had filet mignon with the mashed potatoes and green beans. Whatever the sauce was on the steak and potatoes, I would have liked to steal the recipe. The presentation was also beautiful. For dessert, the delicious orange cake. It's really too bad how small the customer space is however. I kept worrying that I was going to elbow the person sitting at the next table, which was only slightly behind my left arm. My guest felt claustrophobic and couldn't wait to get out, even though she agreed her meal and her dessert were excellent. The biggest negative for both of us though was how demeaning the chef/owner was to our sweet thoughtful server. She made a point of correcting her in front of us several times (none of which seemed warranted) which made us feel uncomfortable. We felt everything about the service was perfect and were baffled as to why the chef would go out of her way to belittle an employee in public. The next time I have an out of town guest, I'll probably try this establishment one more time, but if the chef is rude again, I won't go back no matter how great the food is. Had it not been for the chef's bad manners, I would have certainly given 5 stars. read more

I've been here a couple of times and it just doesn't get any better than this. Last time I ordered the filet mignon, a magnificent cut, perfectly prepared and served with perfect green beans and incredible mashed potatoes topped with truffle butter. Every bite was heaven. When asked how it was, I could only respond with "OMG." Lisa and her cooking partner perform miracles in a tiny, tiny kitchen. Family ordered citrus salad, spinach and butternut squash salad, filet mignon, crab cakes, beef stroganoff and bread pudding. ALL were delightful. The filet mignon was so tender and the potatos and vegetables were cooked just right. We talked about the meal for days. I only wish we could afford to come for more than special occasions. Super small and very pricey for anything other than a salad or sandwich. HOWEVER the food was delicious!!! The shrimp is so good!!! Reserve ahead. Also it's good to know only one table seats four and then three tables seat two people. Two seater tables can make room for three but it's a tight squeeze and only one of the two seaters is able to seat three at a time because it's such a small area. Food is delicious.
