Stayed at The Wave again and finally tried Bacán this time around. Wish we had gone sooner. The restaurant is beautifully designed and put together -- polished, intentional, and just a really nice space to sit in. Service was excellent from start to finish. Our server was from New York (forgot his name), but he was outstanding. Attentive, easy to talk to, and made the night feel effortless. We did Magical Dining and went with the three-course meal. The pork belly was excellent, the Florida snapper was a standout, and we finished with the tres leches. 10/10. We'll definitely be back.
I went for the $60 magical dining. It was a nice experience and dinner. The octopus was cooked perfectly. Great char but still tender. The feta was a bit overwhelming, I couldn't taste the chimichurri. The 14oz pork chop is probably one of the best I've ever had. Tender, juicy, and flavorful. The top was smothered in garlic. The swiss chard absorbed so much flavor. Our server was nice and attentive. I don't love the set up of the restaurant because it's pretty open to the hotel. The lobby bar is right by the entrance of the restaurant so it didn't feel very intimate, unlike The Wave's other restaurant, Nami. This restaurant is pretty pricey so I'm glad I finally got to try it.
Bacan at the Wave Hotel in Lake Nona is a real standout. The atmosphere is fantastic, beautifully decorated inside with a warm, stylish feel, and the outdoor area is just as nice. Service was excellent the whole time. Our server was friendly, clearly knew the menu well, and was happy to accommodate any requests. Nothing felt rushed or overlooked. We participated in Magical Dining and ordered from their three-course menu. The food was delicious and lived up to the Michelin recognition. Everything came out quickly, and the whole table thoroughly enjoyed their orders. The price point is high, but this is fine dining and the quality of the food and service matches what you'd expect. Bacan delivers a great experience.
Dining at Bacan was not only an experience, but actually; it was quite the adventure if I'm being honest. When you get there, unless you do valet, you have to park across the street in the parking garage. So as I made my way into the hotel; I noticed how sleek and modern the design of the actual building is. The day I came, the valet workers were busy parking all of these luxury vehicles, there wasn't a toyota in sight for miles. I found myself thinking: "Is this place too high falutin for me?" I opened the door and immediately was bombarded by the sounds of crowds of people all conversing at the same time, sounds of dishes/glasses clinking and jazz music playing in the background so if you're a person who has sensory sensitivity....Take that into consideration. If you have reservations like we did, you'll be seated immediately. The wait staff here is amazing. We did the magical dining menu, and after each course, they would not only clear our plates, but also silverware and bring fresh ones out each time. The wine here is incredible. I can't remember the name of the one I had, but it was from Sonoma Valley, it was red, voluptuous and so smooth being neither too dry or sweet. The Octopus appetizer was amazing. Perfectly cooked, great flavors, I would definitely get that again. My friend let me try the hamachi, and that was spectacular as well. I love the saltiness the caviar brings to the dish. I ordered the carne asada and I think that had it actually come out medium instead of almost well done I would have really enjoyed it. It had great flavor, and you could tell that the quality of the beef was good but I just kept thinking how much better it would have been had it actually been medium like I had requested. For dessert I got the Carlotta which came in a dainty glass. I loved it. The taste was exquisite and so rich that even though it looked small, I still had to give some to my friend. My friend ordered the Lemon Verbena and it was truly a taste of summer. That is honestly how I would describe that dessert: "Summer on a plate." Whoever came up with that dessert is a genius. Bacan is special because, they're all about the details, which they execute well on the whole. I feel like if the carne asada had come out like I had requested, this would have been a perfect 5 star experience for me. Don't get me wrong, this wouldn't stop me from coming here again, and actually; I look forward to doing so.

Had a fantastic dinner at Bacán for Magical Dining! The hamachi was incredibly fresh and made for the perfect light appetizer. The snapper was delicious, paired with a Guyanese curry that had just a hint of heat without being overly spicy. But the real standout was the lemon verbena ice cream dessert, it was so creative, and the unique flavors worked perfectly together. The thyme ganache and matcha soil really made the dish. It was so good that if we weren't already so full, we would have ordered another! The service was attentive throughout the meal, rounding out an excellent dining experience. Definitely worthy of its Michelin recommendation!
I was concerned that the Magical Dining menu would not be as good as their regular menu but Bacan proved me wrong! The service has been attentive and personable and this time we dined on the patio. Even with an energetic event at the hotel, we still had a good experience. All of the dishes were flavorful and presented well.
We came for Magical Dining this week and everyone loved it! The restaurant is super cute and upscale and although they sat us at a high top, it was very comfortable. The service was wonderful, our server made excellent recommendations and dishes were cleared and water was kept full all night. The dishes and drinks were all beautifully designed and the flavors were great. No notes!
For our date night we decided to try out the magical dining menu. The restaurant atmosphere was beautiful and welcoming. The music was playing loud enough you can still hear everyone at your table conversation but not others. Our server was amazing and made sure we were taken care of. My boyfriend liked the charred octopus but we both agreed my hamachi was the best for appetizers. Main course we both liked our dishes which was carbs asada and Florida snapper. Dessert tres leches and Dulce carlota. Drinks my favorite was the a gin cocktail. My second drink which was a lychee was sooo strong but good. I definitely would recommend anyone to go to Bacán. You will never be disappointed!
The first time I came when they first opened it was memorable. The food, the service, the atmosphere. I went back again last week and it did not disappoint! It was all I expected. Not sure why I waited so long to come back to Bacan!!! Our service Ibrahim was so detailed oriented. Helped us with our selections. The ambience is so relaxed and cozy. Everyone is welcoming. I highly recommend Bacan. I'm definitely coming over more often!
The food, service by Jay and ambiance was all GREAT! We loved this place and definitely will be returning. Jay was great with his recommendations and great energy. They all help eachother around the tables, but Jay was our main one. We were celebrating an accomplishment and it was a perfect place!
Very cool vibes-- walking up, I felt like I was walking into a casino, ha! The staff were all very nice. And the inside felt very welcoming and comfortable. We started with the bread, with the chorizo ricotta spread. They call it a "coca" but I think it's basically a focaccia? Anyway, it was delicious! One of the highlights for me. The Hamachi was also very fresh, light and tasty. For my main meal, I got the swordfish, which was incredibly fresh and delicious. With the Chaufa, basically a fried rice. The rice was good, but very heavy, I didn't eat it all. I'm not sure I'd get it again, but I did like it. Walking out of the restaurant I saw a plate of the carne asada-- I kind of wish I would have gotten that! Then for dessert, we got the tres leches cake. However, it was just SO sugary, that it was too much. between two of us, we couldn't finish it, and it was pretty small. It had its own unique twist. But just way too much sugar in every component. I was very pleased with the whole experience, but wanted something to really knock my socks off to give them 5 stars. If I could give half stars, they'd get 4.5. I recommend you give them a try! And I'll be back again next time I'm in Orlando to try that Carne Asada. Thanks for having me!
Oh my word where do I begin with Bacan?! This place is unbelievable, unreal. Not a single dish disappointed. Was here this past Saturday for dinner and from the moment we walked in the customer service was great, the staff made sure to provide a great experience from beginning to end. The dishes we ordered were paired and filled with amazing flavors and their mocktails were fantastic as well. We had the seared octopus, and the lobster tostadas as our appetizers. I could've had 2 more of these 2 appetizers because they were that good. We also had the 6oz ribeye steak which I got with their potatoes which had this amazing sauce at the bottom of it and we had the Florida snapper. Some of our friends got the tuna tacos, the braised duck, and mushrooms which all amazing also. If you have something to celebrate or if you just want a nice amazing dinner you need to go there! The dinning room was so beautifully decorated and it was amazing watching the chefs preparing each and every meal for every table.

Food: 10/10 Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 5/10 Food: amazing. Presentation, quality, taste are all above expectations. Service: this may be up for debate, but it took way too long. 2 hours for a magical dining experience is too much. Servers were nice and very attentive, but either chose to delay service or expected a new drink order with each course. It seemed to be they waited til first course was done before next course was placed woth kitchen. Food came out hot and fantastic, but stretching a simple meal over 2 hours was very unexpected and not needed. read more
Another Magical Dining stop, this time at BACÁN! Started with the Pork Belly al Pastor. It was good, but the sauce was AMAZING and really brought the whole dish together. For my main, I went with the Florida Snapper. The fish was cooked perfectly, and everything on the plate worked really well together. I also upgraded to the wine pairing, and I'm really glad I did. The guy who came to the table with wine was awesome. He didn't just pour and walk away they explained where each wine was from, what it was made from, and why it paired with the course. That made the wine pairing feel like part of the experience and definitely worth the upgrade. Then came the Tropical Tres Leches... I LOVED it! Easily my favorite and the perfect way to finish dinner. Overall, BACÁN had great food, atmosphere and service with an awesome wine pairing, and a dessert I'd definitely come back for. read more

Bacan has easily turned into one of my favorite dinner spots. Especially during magical dining. Whatever you do, order the hamachi "tacos". Nestled in a pickled jicama slice and topped with caviar, they are the most tasteful, yet light flavored and my favorite appetizer in Orlando. I probably should order something new, but the snapper is just the best. This recent time it was in a light curry sauce, fried to perfection. As part of the magical dining, I tried the Dulce Carlota and someone who if not a big dessert person, it was almost like a super light tiramisu. read more

I'm very torn with Bacan. First the restaurant is in a great location and has an incredible vibe when you walk in. The service was incredible to start, but slowly fizzled out as the meal went on. The cadence that goes with a tasting menu went completely out the window as the second half of the course took twice as long as the first half. The wine pairing was exceptional, highly recommend it. Now the real problem, the food. The food was good. A couple items were really good. But honestly nothing was great! There is a lot of potential here, but this place is truly bordering on not being worth the cost. I wanted to have a different experience. In fact, this was the first restaurant we experienced once in town because I'd been waiting. It unfortunately was not worth the wait. You won't hate your experience here, but you may feel like it wasn't worth the money. read more

My husband and I recently dined at Bacan and we had a very pleasant experience. The restaurant itself has a great vibe, boasting beautiful hanging light fixtures throughout. Both the host and our waitress were friendly and welcoming, setting the tone for our evening. I ordered an amaretto sour, which turned out to be the best one I've ever had, and the gnudi for my entree, which I enjoyed overall though I do wish it had been just a tad bit more flavorful (nothing a little salt couldn't handle). Hubby had the carne asada with a side of truffle potatoes, both which he enjoyed very much. The reasons why I'm not giving Bacan five stars is due to their limited vegetarian/vegan options (especially in this day and age) and because some items (I'm looking at you, carne asada) are overpriced for what they are. Let me be clear that my husband enjoyed is carne asada, there's no question about that. It's just that it didn't quite match it's price. read more

Who would say no to $60.00 for a three course meal at a Michelin recommended restaurant. Certainly not I, and certainly not when I'm treating a friend for her belated celebratory Birthday meal during Orlando's Magical Dining Month. Bacan, meaning cool or awesome in Spanish, definitely lived up to the hype. Upon entering the contemporary and stylish Lake Nona Wave Hotel and upon making our way to our table at the far end of the restaurant, you're surrounded by eclectic art, design, and architecture. Everywhere you look there is something to behold. And that beautiful presentation extended itself to our evening meal. But an eventual five star meal not only includes what is served but also the service one gets at such an establishment. To the end, our server, Jay blew it out of the park! Having a waitperson who knows every ingredient in every dish and how it is prepared and who has a personality that engages and educates you is a golden unicorn in the server world. Kudos to the management and chef of Bacan for having such a star on your roster! But of course to the food...and drink. The Birthday girl had a glass of PInot Noir and I had a Basil Tai Cocktail which was a variation on the classic Mai Tai served with a blended rum and basil. So refreshing! Then came an incredible Amuse Bouche of Aji Amarillo (Peruvian Peppers) and Octopus, With this starter I knew this was the first stop on a magnificent culinary journey. Soon after, appetizers of Hamachi (Yellowtail Tuna) and Charred Octopus arrived. Marvelous! We both upgraded our entrees with my guest having a Filet and Ribeye for moi. Paired with sides of Truffle Potatoes and Sherry Mushrooms the taste sensation was phenomenal! Finally, we ended with a Citrus Tres Leches and a Cafe En La Niebla (Dominican Chocolate Brownie) for desserts. Spectacular! Bacan is undoubtedly one the best restaurants in Central Florida and our meal with upgrades came out much more than $60.00 per person but, hey...as Pitbull would say..."Dale"...just go ahead and do it...you won't be disappointed! read more

The restaurant was truly incredible. The ambience and lighting were soft and inviting and the decor felt elegant from the moment we walked in. The vibe was flawless and my friends and I enjoyed every moment of our dinner. Each dish arrived beautifully plated by the Chef. I ordered the snapper and expected a whole fish, but it arrived as a delicate fillet that gave the entire meal a gourmet touch. The cream and sauce paired with it took the flavor to another level. We added the shareable potatoes which were delicious and my friend ordered the ribs and could not stop talking about how good they were. We skipped dessert but our waitress surprised us with champagne to close out our celebration and it was such a thoughtful touch. I will absolutely return. read more

Great service and friendly staff. My order was taken incorrectly but the server was very apologetic and replaced with intended order. Staff were more than accommodating and super nice. Food was good as well and the ambience was simply amazing. read more

The food here was pretty good, but I agree with a review I saw before going that the food was pretentious for pretentious sake. The drinks were decent, but some of us ordered the same drinks and they looked completely different. Our server didn't seem to know either way and unfortunately it seems the drinks are made at the hotel bar, so there's no way to know. My favorite item of the night was the lobster tostada (so good!). The tequenos were also pretty yummy. The carne asada was good but nothing where I felt this is amazing. Our friends ordered the bread which was yummy but expensive for bread. They also got the octopus and tuna tacos, which they seemed to enjoy. The desserts were probably the least exciting of the night. The citrus tres leches was good, but tasted like a trix cereal cake. Two people ordered the cafe en la niebla and both really disliked it. This was weird because it sounded like a brownie dessert but ended up being like a dippin dots dish, that tasted more like tiramisu. Definitely a flop. Would I return? Truthfully probably not. Maybe to do the multi-course experience but we weren't wowed, there weren't many entrees that I would eat, and the prices are very high. read more
Pleasantly surprised. Chose the restaurant off the magical dining website, didn't know what to expect. The vibes were immaculate, the food was delicious and filling, and it made for the perfect date night spot. I started with the hamachi, which was so flavorful and unique, followed by the Florida snapper for my entrée, perfectly tangy and hearty. For dessert, I had a rich chocolate brownie with hints of cardamom and pistachio that tied everything together beautifully. I'd definitely return to this restaurant! read more

They call this place "Michelin recommended" but it definitely fell flat for me and expected a lot more. The venue is in a nice artsy spot with lots of photo ops. Very well designed hotel with trendy restaurants Had the El Dorado and the Havana Habana cocktails but with added spirits in it. They weren't that great. Tequenõs were ok but thick batter and very fried. Not too into fried foods anymore but that was the best looking option. Got the Florida snapper but didn't think it was going to be fried and was hoping for a grilled or blackened option like other Florida places. The skin was attached and not at all crispy. A bit soggy sad fried whatever dish. Would have been better if they took the skin off and fried it separately and put back on top for an extra crispy skin texture. Also tried the truffle chicken and it was the worst I've had. Not that truffley and quite small comparing to others I've had. They give complimentary little cookies at the end that was good enough because their desserts didn't look like much The server was great and the reason giving this place a 2 vs a 1 star review. I did give her my same critique as I have on this review on the food so she could let the chefs know the food was not up to par read more

Have been eyeing Bacan for a while and decided to go! Bold Latin flavors from start to finish, this meal was amazing. Tequenos - foie gras duck leg confit. Succinct but distinguishably reminds me of pizza rolls Grilled Octopus - Cooked to perfection with a beautiful char, served with vibrant sauces and a hint of citrus. The octopus was so tender yet still texturized. My favorite of the night Truffle Chicken - Truffle truffle TRUFFLE! Honestly one of the most solid choices. Florida Snapper - Honestly one of the more shocking dishes. The snapper was fried with a tasty curry that had tons of depth. Short Rib - Fall-apart tender, resting on a crispy potato base with creamy herbed sauce and thin daikon slices for contrast. Cafe En La Niebla - s'mores explosion. Indulgent with textures. Colada - A visually stunning dish that tasted just as great. The ambiance was modern and intimate, with warm lighting and attentive service. They had beautiful design and lighting. Prices reflect the fine dining, but the quality and presentation easily justify it. BACÁN is a standout in Orlando. read more
Magical Dining was nice here, but definitely not worth what I paid. My expectations were high and I simply wasn't wowed. The interior is gorgeous, though. The decor in the hotel as you walk to the restaurant's entrance is also really cool. Took a lovely picture with my gals on the lit staircase. I will say the portions were decent. Everything tasted very good, but again not to the level I was hoping for, as in OMG this is amazing! The charred octopus was probably my favorite. With the smoked feta it was scrumptious. My friends did not like the churros, but I thought they were fine. The citrus tres leches was satisfactory, yet not super memorable. Our server was pleasant, but I was underwhelmed in that area as well. Our dishes arrived to the table in good timing with the exception of dessert. There was a significant gap as we waited for it, perhaps due to a large party arriving within that time. I'm so glad I decided to give this place another try! The food during first visit wasn't great, and I honestly hadn't planned on coming back. Had I not returned, I would've missed out on the best octopus I've ever had in my life. The smoky feta perfectly complemented the charred octopus and the chimichurri and aji amarillo were *chef's kiss*. The truffle chicken was a huge portion and absolutely delicious. Between that and our three appetizers, we didn't even touch our other entrée (the curry fish). Our server was fantastic and even surprised us with complimentary glasses of champagne to end the meal. Came for magical dining and was super impressed! The ambience, service, and overall experience of dinner was amazing. The standout dish was the carne asada. Oh my goodness. Cooked to a medium rare perfection with the housemade chimichurri was all I needed. The citrus tres leches was a pass for me. The orange flavor didn't sit right on my palate and the texture of the topping was a bit stiff. My friend ordered the churros and the truffle oil was a bit overpowering. I would say their apps and entrees is where they excel here. I would definitely come back and try other entree options. read more

The restaurant is in the hotel there is a parking garage with free parking. The atmosphere inside the hotel is electric. Live music, cool decorations, all well done. The restaurant is towards the back right. Immediately sat with our reservation in a great booth. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and an open kitchen concept. The server was knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions. He was attentive and had a good personality which added to our experience. We ordered from the Magical Dining menu and all of the items were delicious. From appetizer, entree, and dessert we could not have asked for a better night. read more

Delicious all the way this is my first time going to this restaurant after the opportunity was taking away from me last year. One of the most confusing meals of the butternut squash that you see in that small glass container. That was an extremely different taste on my pallet when I wanted to try after seeing him pass out. It was on the house. it was delicious. Our server was a gentleman from Puerto Rico. That was well traveled all around the globe so he knew his menu very well and sold it very very deliciously with his verbiage. My order was the moqueca and it was delicious, all the seasonings complemented each other well, and it was also light and airy! My friend had the snapper and that was delicious also!! The drink ingredients were all in house and made/crafted with love. They were amazing and I almost ordered 2 of them. The closing was the Autumn Tamal was decent, I wasn't necessarily in love with this with you for all the different factors, but I must say for trying something new. It was really good. I would say for sure that the service and food was the top best things on the menu here. Maybe for a bday I might come back. But great food and service! read more
Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Bacan is one of my Top 5 favorite restaurants in Orlando. This was probably my 4th/5th time here and heads up they did change the menu. While I was sad the duck is no longer available, there were still strong offerings on the menu. Lobster tostadas were fresh and well cooked per usual. The tequenos are new but I didn't love them because the foie gras didn't come thru in it. The Crispy snapper was great. We are actually Guyanese and they did capture the flavor profile of one of our curry types. Branzino is an old faithful item. Ambience and service is always on point. Clau is amazing. She had taken care of us in a previous visit so it added to the vibe that she was a familiar and friendly face. Looking forward to another visit! read more

Bacan is located in Lake Nona at the Wave Hotel. The restaurant is located on the first floor across from the bar. It's a very cute and intimate area with beautiful decor. I went on a solo date on Sunday and was surprised to see others sitting by themselves; so this place is great if you want to eat alone. I ordered the Agave Oat Brioche, Papas Chorreadas, and Carne Asada. The food is delicious!! My server Courtney was very nice as well at the other servers. I highly recommend this place for a date night. If you want a quiet dinner, I'd recommend going on a night during the weekday or Sunday. Friday and Saturday nights seem to be busy. They also have outdoor seating with a nice ambiance. Affordable for fine dining; $100+ per person. read more

Hubby and I grabbed a last minute reservation at Bacan on a Friday night for an impromptu date night. We expected it would be busy, so we checked in and went to the living room bar to grab a drink while we wait. The wait wasn't long and by the time we had drinks in hand, we were already being called to be seated. We were sat on the patio and had the most amazing team of servers. Our main server, (sorry, I forgot her name I waited to long to write this. But she had a blonde ponytail, she was fantastic) she helped guide us as a knowledgeable and experienced palate to what eat item tastes like. I was in a very indecisive mood so this helped me navigate the new menu. For appetizer I was between the pierogi and the croquette, and she recommended the croquettes as seen in the picture. I thoroughly enjoyed them as they were crunchy on the outside, soft and cheesy in the middle with salty bites of ham. Now that I know for a fact she is understanding my palate and preferences, I found myself again at a crossroads between the birria short ribs and the spiny lobster tail. Two very different directions. She pointed me to the birria short ribs as "Thee Best Item On The Menu", in her opinion, and so that's what I went with. Although I haven't had the entire menu, the tenderness of the short rib, the savory flavors of sauce and the Oaxaca queso filled arepa was just incredible. Each bite was melting in my mouth. Eventually, I'll circle back to the lobster, but that birria will stay on top of my mind. From now until early November, they also have a special experience called the Ozmopolitan. Our servers happily suggested we check it out. A live singer with Broadway show tunes and jazz melodies was singing, a photo op with a wand or a broom depending if you're a good witch or a bad witch and an outdoor specialty bar completes the experience with themed drinks.
