I was really excited to try the Babylon Bean because I desperately want a nice coffee shop in the Babylon area that isn't Starbucks. This ain't it. Online, I saw the Babylon Bean boast that their syrups were homemade and their cold brew had 4x the caffeine than regular coffee. Well, I ordered a French Vanilla Cold Brew with almond milk. It was made with- you guessed it- International Delight. The coffee was some of the weakest I've ever had. The large was SIX DOLLARS. It was six dollars wasted. I threw my coffee out five minutes later. The baristas are very nice but the business isn't adhering to social distancing protocol at all (almost all customers didn't have masks on, the tables weren't distanced, no regulation for customer flow). All this is to say, I was sad to find myself on the Starbucks drive-thru line about 30 minutes after my Babylon Bean trip. Looks like my search continues. read more

Amazing coffee and people. The Babylon Bean on mainstreet is gorgeous and has an amazing outdoor seating section for nice sunny days.

Lots of choices for coffee and snacks. Many chairs to sit on. There were three different people working during busy time which helped move the line along. There were a few sugar free options. My main complaint are that the chairs aren't too comfortable - it would be cool if they had more of the easy chairs that some coffee shops seem to have. read more

The amount of work that goes into making cold brew is very fascinating but also delicious and gives you that extra strong dose of caffeine like no other coffee can. Lovely non-franchise coffee cafe. Warm and welcoming place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee and a piece of cake, There is a sitting area in the back with tv screens. I have been enjoying their menu of light fare(quiches and salads) since Babylon Bean first opened 15 years ago. With the re-vamping there is open mic night on Wednesdays and local musicians on weekend evenings. It's always been a good place for first dates before or after the movies. read more

This is my favorite coffee shop! Every coffee/tea I have ever tried here has been amazing. I have never ordered any food from here so I can't speak on that, but the drinks are always great. They have comfortable seating, a TV with the news, a psychic (yes you read that right), and amazing art on the walls done by local artists. Chocolate. Normally I'm not a sweets person but there were so many good lookin' pastries I needed to at least TRY one. Peanut butter white chocolate chip cookie was super soft and not too sweet. Rob got some sort of latte special which he let me taste. Stole a few more sips when he wasn't looking. So that's two drinks and cookie... so at Starbucks that'd run you what? $16.47 plus your soul and first born child? The total was $11. Loved the vibe of this coffee shop, small, cozy, a real relaxed location to hang out and talk. I haven't tried the meals but the desserts are to die for. The variety makes it difficult to just pick one and gives you a reason to keep going back. Although I am a creature of habit and choose the same thing every time, it's worth the trip. I've been coming to the Bean for 25 years but today was my last visit and I've already told friends and family to stop coming. When I went in, the two employees were masked and there were signs about their COVID precautions. However, a rush of customers came in with one person not masked at all and several with masks around their chins or under noses. The staff said nothing and, in fact, one had pulled his mask down. I didn't say anything at the time because I wanted to get out as fast as possible to not risk my own health but I am disgusted by the lack of concern for staff and customer health. read more

I got my usual mocha with almond milk and wasn't a big fan. I really can't stand the artificial taste some flavored syrups have and that's what my latte tasted like. I ordered their green tea matcha latte and I couldn't even get through half of it. It was terribly sweet and I just ended up throwing out the drink. Their carrot cake is so-so in that the center of the slices are somewhat moist but the edges are really dry. Though the cakes are brought in from Sayville, it's not really worth your money unless you're really craving something sweet and absolutely need sugar (again, avoid the cookies made on site). read more

The cafe is spacious and clean. It's a great study/work spot because the tables are a pretty decent size. The smaller sized tables are still great for 1-2 people to have enough space to do work. There are also larger tables and areas for bigger groups to study. There is an extension cord available toward the back of the cafe. This is a good spot for getting work done and a cozy place to come and chill with a group of friends. There's a couch in the back too! If you guys dont want to stay open until the listed time, dont list that time. we came in and ordered a coffee expecting to sit for atleast 1.5-2 hours. We walk in about 645pm on a Monday night. Says they're "open" until 9pm but by 730 literally all the chairs were up and they were turning customers away. It's really passive aggressive and disrespectful and this has happened to me here so many times that I'm just tired of it and I will not be coming back anymore. I've also noticed MULTIPLE other reviews from YEARS AGO with people who have the SAME COMPLAINT! Open-mike nights, tarot card readings, and live music. This is a cozy neighborhood hang out. Local art for sale decorates the walls. Food- the savory food is typically made at his other restaurant so it's not the best. The smoothies are good and named after local eateries. But the sweets, those are great. They offer fresh-baked cookies, packaged healthier options (vegan and gluten-free included), decedent cakes, and gelato. Coffee- delicious. Cold brewed on a first come first served basis, and then the standards. Various dairy and non-dairy milk options, dozens of flavored syrups, and teas as well. I've never had a latte I didn't like. The baristas get a good foam even with almond milk. Can't wait for the Bay Shore Bean to open! read more

Quaint little coffee shop hidden off the main road of Babylon Village, with a laid-back, unassuming vibe. The employee was super patient with us as we hemmed and hawed about what everyone in our group wanted to order. There were numerous tempting baked goods around, but I managed to avoid temptation for once. My iced mocha was good, although it tasted just like a regular iced coffee to me (and I therefore needed to up the caloric content with some sugar packets...) After my daughter raved about the coffee I thought I would give it a try. The place is clean and looks great but the atmosphere seemed a bit cold and unfriendly. After looking over all the different coffees I decided to just get my favorite, I mocha latte. It was ok, nothing to write home about. It wasn't bad but I just think it could have been better. TL; DR ahead. I've gone to the Babylon Bean a few times now and each time I have never had a bad latte. I absolutely love it. They never mess it up and they are very accommodating. They even have almond milk!! I've come by myself to study or relax with friends. Each time was a great and I'm happy their staff isn't overly friendly. I've been to other coffee shops where they really try to become super friendly with you but if I'm doing work, then don't bother me. However, the reason why I can't give 5 stars is because sometimes the baristas could be more friendly when actually ordering. This doesn't go for all of them. Most of the baristas are very nice and friendly without being overbearing. But some of them almost act like I am a nuisance for buying a cup of coffee. Granted, I've worked in the service industry before. I've had it where I was just not as friendly mid-shift because I was drained but then snapped out of it. However, that isn't the case. Regardless of the shift time or what shift it is, some of them are plain ass rude. A suggestion: bathrooms. You don't want females to flush feminine products. More than happy to oblige. Could you then place a trash can next to the toilet so then I don't have to carry it across the bathroom? I know it is just a few steps away but that makes for an uncomfortable situation. Also please clean the sink or change it! It would be awesome if you could install a sink that had a sensor instead of touching the faucet. I feel yucky having to touch it especially since there seems to be gunk build up. I know a sensor faucet would probably be much more expensive but something has to do be done about that awful faucet. EDITED: I am writing this review differently as to address the owner since I see he does a good job in assessing other comments on this page. That being said: the baristas make sure to keep the front of the house clean. They continuously pick up after customers, clean the counter tops, etc. They also make sure to clean out the containers for the milk steaming continuously. It really never sits around to the point of contamination or soiling. So to the other complain from Chelsea: clearly you aren't paying attention. If the owner addresses this comment and some of his staff then I'm more than happy to review again with 5 stars. read more
