Always busy which means their beans are always fresh. I pick up bags to grind at home so I can make cold brew. There is a big difference between fresh roasted coffee and the kind you get at the supermarket that has been sitting on a shelf for months. I've found that their chocolate truffle is perfect for cold brew. While I don't go for anything else, my coworkers do and they love it. Cool atmosphere and friendly service. The Babylon bean has been here for awhile! I have been here before and I have to say it's very consistent. The place is warm and allows pets! It's nice to see folks interact with pets. The coffee is superior to that of other establishments. However on Easter I did not see them handing out eggs!!! Idk if it's a requirement lol in Babylon but saw children and parents walking around attempting to get eggs just to be disappointed! Such a cute little coffee shop with tons of choices. They're not just limited to coffee drinks but they have smoothies and specialty drinks like immune booster juices and things like that. Kind of noisy so if you plan to come here to get some work done, bring some headphones. I came on a Saturday morning around 9:45 and the line was pretty long but moved fast. The wait was good because it gave me time to check out the menu. I went with a regular coffee and got my son an iced hot chocolate. I was kind of expecting it to be like a chocolate milk with ice, but it was a blended drink and tasted just like a chocolate milkshake. The service was quick and accurate but the two girls behind the counter didn't appear to be too friendly but nevertheless, they were still professional. I want to give the benefit of the doubt that because the line was so long and continued to grow, they were more focused on just getting everyone served. As far as pricing, I'm not sure what everything costs individually but I thought for everything I got, it was pretty pricey. A large coffee, small iced hot chocolate and a slice of lemon blueberry loaf came out to just under $11. The loaf wasn't all that grand and was somewhat dense. I did like that it didn't crumble everywhere though, but just wasn't the best I've had. I don't live local so I wouldn't go out of my way to come here for a just-okay coffee, but it would be a nice place to get together with a friend or something like that. read more

Sometimes it blows my mind that some of my favorite places have fallen off of my review radar, and Babylon Bean is no exception. I love this place and come here even more now that I moved out of the Babylon area (go figure). Atmosphere: For me, a coffee shop's atmosphere is more important than the coffee (I know that sounds ridiculous, but I'd rather spend hours with ok coffee in a great spot, than with amazing coffee in a spot that isn't comfortable). Luckily for the Babylon Bean is doing great on both fronts. They have plenty of seating (both inside and out), cool artwork from local artists everywhere, live music now and then, and a laid back, cozy atmosphere that makes you want to stay a while. Drinks: Ok ok, what most people think is the most important part of a coffee shop (hey, it at least made #2 on my list). When it comes to coffee, I'm pretty simple. Give me a cold brew, black maybe a splash of almond milk if I'm feeling wild. But they have a wall of cold brews, and I'm completely about it. I've tried out more of their specialty drinks as well, and they're all delicious. Food: They have tons of food options, which I'm a big fan of. Give me carrot cake or a croissant any day. Had to walk out the other day. The barista making my coffee sneezed into her arm--the arm that was holding my half-made uncovered coffee. She just kept right on going. Even if we weren't in the midst of a pandemic, I could never drink that. Such a shame. I always try to support local businesses. I think maybe I just ordered the wrong drink here but I ended dumping the $5 small cold brew in the garbage across the street, it was that bad. I live for cold brew, it's my treat in the summer and I had heard Babylon Bean Coffee house had some great coffee so I came here after the beach on a Saturday. The place was fairly busy on a Saturday around 1230 in the afternoon, They had a big inside with lots of tables but hardly any outlets, maybe 2. That would be a problem for me if I ever came here and needed to get work done. They had a very very large coffee counter with lots of baked goods, treats, snacks and of course, beverages. I have never seen different cold brew options before but this place had hazelnut, French vanilla, blueberry and butter rum. I thought this was so cool. I asked the barista, who was super super nice about which flavor was best and she said she liked the hazelnut. I asked if it was sweetened and she said no and that it almost had a bitterness to it. So, to be fair, she did warn me! One thing that I thought was annoying was I asked for light ice and she told me it was going to cost me an extra buck. Lets be honest here, when you don't ask for light ice, they pile ice up to the very top of your cup and you're getting 4 sips of cold brew, MAX. I don't think asking for light ice should constitute adding an additional $1 to your total, especially when the cost of cold brew is astronomical from the start. They had lots of specialty canned drinks in their coolers along with some sandwiches and yogurts. They had a small outdoor seating area with some tables that weren't sturdy, the legs were uneven on most of them so be careful if you're going out there and setting your drink down, my tumbled over (which was just simply foreshadowing) Maybe you'll love it, maybe I just ordered the wrong drink. They sell their beans here, I'd try a hot blueberry coffee next time. $5 for a drink dumped in the garbage, woof. read more

The Babylon Bean has excellent taste. And I don't just mean the food and drink! They have an eye for decorations and a good ear for music! Whether I'm hear catching up with a friend over a good cup of coffee or working on a paper, this spot is without a doubt one of my favorites in Babylon. Although I love my starbucks, there's nothing quite like a traditional coffee shop. I'd much prefer the mismatched drinkware or the piping hot herbal teas paired with a freshly homemade pastry. Now that's what I'm talking about. The Babylon Bean has ample parking in the back and on the street so you won't have to worry about nabbing a spot. And inside, they have small tables or large couches to choose from. It has a cozy yet funky kinda vibe with the unique artwork hanging up on the walls. Best part is... they're local artists which is very cool. As for their drinks, how can you go wrong? I've had their chai latte, "almond joy" latte, hot chocolate, regular coffee... and it was all excellent. As well as, last time my friend and I came we shared their chocolate coffee crumb cake which was heavenly. (I think we managed to get every single crumb!) Been here a boatload of times, love it. Chill coffee spot located right near carriage house in the heart of BaB village.. They offer a variety of sweets to meet the needs of any sugar freak or vegan.. Coffee nice and strong, I love just about every latte they offer... Went with the Reese's pieces latte last visit with crispy gluten free treat.. Perfect amount of sweetness for both and my latte had the perfect amount of kick to jumpstart my day.. I'm a huge coffee lover and enjoy all kinds, they have a decent ranged menu... Also, they sell bagels and other prepared sandwiches in a small refrigerated area for those of you on the run! It wouldn't have been fair to the new cafe on the block, baby-bean, if I wrote a review shortly after my first visit in 2010. At that point, they were only starting their slow transformation into a cafe and were short on looks and drinks. So I came again. Still short on ingredients but not comfort and atmosphere. Olivia B hit it on the mark when she said "The staff isn't quite as knowledgeable about the business of coffee shop-ery as one would hope. " True, the staff seemed to be comprised of young girls who were just kind of hanging out and occasionally served some coffee or cookies to patrons that popped up at the counter. The two times I went there they were short on ingredients. This time it was blueberry and banana syrup (for our smoothie and coffee concoctions) the previous time it was just about everything, they could only make us green tea lattes for some reason. Baby-bean also lacked any kind of loose tea (tea snob here) but at least had decent bagged teas. Their menu is pretty overwhelming at first, until you decipher that many of the categories are contain one base combination but with enhancements or changes. Such as the mochas that have similar base ingredients but are modified taste wise with a myriad of syrups. The smoothies and sandwiches seem to be an exception from this rule. It's cute that they named all the different smoothies after the different buildings/restaurants in the neighborhood. This is the type of coffee-house quirkiness I enjoy. Despite the fact that the gelato has been calling my name from behind the counter, I have yet to try it. They have just enough flavors to satisfy your craving for creamy Italian goodness. The atmosphere is undoubtably relaxed. While I was there, the girls behind the counter were jamming to some red hot chili peppers and most patrons were either having intimate conversations over a cup of java or catching up on some work on their laptops. The high ceilings sort of make this spot loud for its size but it's bearable. Regardless of it's flaws, I have faith baby-bean will mature into something impressive. Start with the negative: I was recently charged a Dubai-esque $6 here for a medium iced coffee. When I expressed surprise, the surly man behind the counter sarcastically pointed to a sign hanging above the baked good case for the price for a "cold brew," as opposed to the $3 "iced coffee" listed on their big board of drinks. (The listed price of said cold brew was $4.50, I believe, but apparently that was the price for a small! No other prices were listed, however.) Aside from the bait-and-switch aspect of this interaction...no coffee shop, not even Blue Bottle, charges $6 for an iced coffee! If you do, it had better be the best damn iced coffee I've ever had. (You can guess by the 3 stars: it wasn't. Slightly above average would be the fairest descriptor.) On the positive side: I do like the hot coffee here, and the girl who usually serves in the morning is very nice. The space itself is lovely and large--if I weren't normally stopping here on my way to work I would gladly sit for a while. The baked goods look tasty, but they have a surprising lack of breakfast material. (For me, at least; some of you may be eating cake for breakfast, but my doctor would kill me.) If you turn around while standing at the register, though, they have some yogurts in a minifridge. Nice coffee shop, just be careful when ordering. Judging by the reaction of the man at the counter, I wouldn't be surprised if they try and pull other little games with the prices as well. read more

I've been here twice before because I truly enjoy local coffee shops more than chain shops and I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. But as much as I wanted to love this place, it was just not up to par. They do have a huge drink menu selection but I think it's just variations of the syrups added to the drinks. Speaking of which, both times I went, the drinks were way too sweet. I couldn't enjoy it. Shame on me for trying one of the fancy named drinks on the wall. Should have just stuck with a regular latte. I do like the low key worn down look of the place though. Reminds me of the little coffee shops in BK or the LES that I used to frequent and love. I may want to try it again one day just because I want to try their regular latte not disguised up with syrups and review how the real espresso drinks taste. I also have to comment that I have read many of the reviews on this place and every review I read that was less favorable, the owner or manager or whoever would comment back with an "I don't care what you think. Don't come back then. We're the best and you're wrong" type of response. It just makes me chuckle and think how clueless and arrogant a mind can be. read more

the Babylon Bean is my go to place during the day when I need to get work done, this place is is very artsy LITERALLY. coming here always puts me in a good mood and helps me focus a bit more on my work (video editing/script writing). I even come here to just have my favorite MANGO passion iced tea while I browse/shop online. I've also had their lattes, expresso's and cappuccino, ALL GREAT. I do always ask for it to be extra hot because if I don't I find it getting cold quick. Anything from their deli fridge section is always fresh and there's lots of variety to pick from. Let's not forget to mention their wide dessert selection which always looks fresh. they cater to everyone in my opinion, from gluten free, vegan and low calorie treats to a more indulging area (cheese cakes, brownies, chocolate cake, tiramisu and the list goes on. I usually come here a few times a month and I've noticed that in the last 3 months everyone is raving about their ACAI BOWL. My sister and I had it once and everything was fresh and delicious, the only downside of it in my opinion is that they use the frozen powdery acai pouch. BUT thats because Ive had the real fresh acai fruit in the caribbean and other parts of the US where the real fruit is a bit more accessible. so I immediately taste the difference. Again, just my PERSONAL opinion other than that they make a pretty damn good and fresh acai bowl. AND the price is reasonable, other places charge $10-12 for same size acai bowl with extra charges for peanut butter, coconut flakes and other toppings. One criticism I have to agree on with some of the other reviews is that sometimes the staff is not friendly, even when business is slow. Every time I come here someone different helps me, and some of the girls/boy are polite and some not so much as if they are there just to get your order and ring you up (BYE). Ive worked customer service before and one thing that is COMMON sense in my opinion is that greeting and smiling is essential when you work serving others. Especially when its a small privately owned business, creating small talk or even complementing someones hair or you name it makes a customer feel welcomed. I think It must be cool to work here.. especially if you have a passion for all things coffee/ baking. The Babylon bean is definitely one of my favorite coffee shops on the Island. For some this is a local coffee shop, a walk around the corner from home and for others the bean is a destination place (long drive) they've looked forward to, something the staff and owner should feel very proud of. One of my all time favorite spots. Great for studying, reading or meeting friends. Beautiful coffee house atmosphere that you just can't get from a franchise. The coffee and tea is always fantastic, and the baked goods are to die for. It's my understanding that they are baked locally in Sayville- a big plus that they support fellow small businesses. Sal the owner is fantastic, one of the friendliest people in the village! Additionally, they do a great open mike night, which is a wonderful late night alternative to drinking at the bars in Babylon. The only downside is sometimes certain girls on staff can be less than friendly, or downright rude- so just watch for that. Mind you, most of the staff is really sweet and professional, so don't let a few bad apples ruin the bunch ! read more

They have the best chai, amazing locally sourced iced coffee and a lot of other trendy drink choices (fresh juice, golden milk, Vietnamese coffee, smoothies, etc.) A lot of seating and overall my favorite place to grab coffee at when I go back home to Long Island. All throughout high school this was the only coffee shop in the area besides Barnes & Noble and I know they have a bay shore and patchogue bean too which I've been to and must say Babylon Bean is still the best! Only thing I wish they had more of would be eating options. I've stayed there for hours at a time and wanted more than just a pastry or oatmeal. I wish they have some salads or paninis etc. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is the staff. While they usually seem to deal with a never ending line efficiently, they can be quite rude and in their own worlds depending on who helps you. A lot of the times it seems like there's no manager around to oversee and the staff just talks to each other instead of bothering to address the customers, answer questions or make small talk, etc. the only time this wasn't the case for me (I go at least twice a month) is when the manager is around. read more

Been a regular here since I moved to Babylon 3 years ago- it's always been some of the best coffee around. At the beginning of the COVID pandemic I stopped coming because of the lack of mask etiquette and social distancing. Recently decided to try again, and while it seemed better for a brief time, suddenly it is back to the lack of masks for both employees and customers. One of the most relaxed and original coffee houses in Suffolk County. Babylon Bean has a wide variety of coffee, tea, cakes, and gelato as well as plenty of seating with free wifi! I believe this place is open til 10 or 11 most nights. Service has always been great, they charge $.25 for card purchases under $5. When I get sick of working at the library or Starbucks and need a change of scenery this is the place to come. On one side many people are sipping coffee and chatting away with friends where the other side may have businessmen and client meetings going on. Walking in the comforting smell of coffee beans hit me hard. Chai latte was good, but by 8pm they were out of espresso and regular coffee, and seemed to be closing. I'm not sure if they've updated their hours on Yelp since COVID, it would be worth giving them a call to make sure they're open if you're coming out of your way.
