Being from California I've been so disappointed with the pizza here in Florida. Just really bad pizza. Babe's is the exception. I'm thinking they are people that brought the recipe from out of state. Can't say for sure. The key to me are the spices. When the pizza was delivered I knew it would be good when I smelled the pizza even when the box closed. The spices were perfect, no bitterness to the sauce, good amount of cheese, and good toppings. I would give them a 9.5. It's that good. I think those leaving bad reviews just like the power of doing so, because this pizza is pretty amazing. Will order from Babe's again. read more

This did not disappoint. Was a little skeptical when reading other reviews, but the double decker pizza had 2 layers, with toppings between each. Was cooked perfectly! Only reason not a 5 star is the cleanliness of the restaurant. Tables were cleaned with 'spray' but the shakers with cheese and hot peppers were filthy. The stand out pizza was placed upon was also dirty. And then there was the employee with long curly hair that was constantly playing with his hat and hair. Love this place. The owners are super friend, the service is amazing and the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. The ambiance is great, is like your blasted back to the 80s with the awesome music they play. And my favourite is their double decker pizza which is what they are known for and they put the perfect amount of toppings on it as well. I highly recommend this place. Ok this is my first time here. If you go to the mens bathroom open the door all the way or you are not going in. Squeeze in between the door and wall. There is a train running on a shelf at the top of the wall about a foot below the ceiling. The appetizers of French fries are good. Okay those were the good points. We ordered a large double-decker meat lovers pizza. Well it came out looking amazing see the pictures. I bit into it. I scratched my tongue and roof of my mouth with the Sahara desert crusts on this pizza. It sucked all moisture from my mouth. Hard as a rock. I have been wanting to go to this pizza place since it opened back in 1978. It opens up only at 5pm. I have usually worked night shift jobs, so this has been the first time I've been in the right place at the right time. Most likely I will not return. Little Ceasar's Pizza is better than this. They had just a wee bit of sauce, hard as rock crust, and it was just as dry as the Sahara desert. Everybody has said you gotta try Babes Pizza. I did I really did, but I won't anymore. $38.00 down, half a pizza trying to give away, and my tongue and the roof of my mouth hurting I just don't want to chance a second go round. I lived in Brandon for 20 years and recently visited and had to go to Babe's. I was reading reviews and was really nervous after seeing all of the reviews that said it had gone downhill. So glad we ignored the haters and went anyway! Slight changes to the ambiance made no difference to us, though I admit to missing the train a bit. Service was fun and friendly, and our beloved double decker with pepperoni was exactly as delicious as we remembered it. Our daughter and her wife came with us and it was the first time they'd been to Babe's and they were blown away by how delicious the pizza was. Ignore the bad reviews and give it a try for yourself! I've been eating at Babe's Pizza since I was in the womb, in fact, any time I've visited my parents, that's where I want to go for dinner. Babe's has been my mom's favorite and she's been going since she was in high school in the 80s. We went there this week for the first time in about 5-6 months and I literally felt a piece of my childhood die. Now, I know they changed owners a few years ago and I wasn't mad about it--I mean, the previous owners deserved to be able to retire and relax, and I noticed a few changes and initially thought "good for them, it's definitely good to update things", I've really been a good sport and have remained objective for the past couple of years. Our server mentioned there were new items coming, but the Babe's staples would be the same. I initially thought that sounded like a good opportunity for growth if there was a demand for it, but after my experience, it's clear that that's not nothing is the same now and those staple items will be eliminated before we know it. My most noticeable observations were: - They changed how the pizza is made, the double decker is just a deep dish pizza now. The way it's built is different, the toppings aren't inside of the pizza anymore. The way the pizza was built is what defines it. - The decor and lighting has changed. It's not drastically worse, but it's not better, either. It felt cheap and uncomfortable. - The Greek salad seemed off; they cut corners on it or something because there was less meat and hardly any cheese on it. - Our server was really nice, just not attentive. I'm sure that's just from a lack of experience and I am not complaining about her specifically, but there were only 2-3 tables present the entire time I was there and she needed help, so I can't imagine how it would have been if the place was as packed as it used to be. So server training is an area of opportunity as well. On top of that, the manager was loudly talking to another table about how much everything sucked but he's going to make everything better. Instead of talking about how horrible everything was and how great he is, he could have been helping his staff that was in the weeds. He says business is slow because Brandon has too many options while it's obvious that things are slow because the people who actually liked Babes have been chased off. It was a sad experience overall. While I agree that businesses should make updates and keep themselves relevant, completely changing things and keeping the same name on the door isn't the way to do it. I know there are people who didn't care for Babe's before, but there were a lot who loved it for what it was. read more

Open since 1978. Haven't been here since 1998!! We ordered a single layer pizza well done wraith pepperoni, fresh mushrooms, and sausage. A little more on the doughy side and light on the sauce but the toppings are fresh. Owner is very friendly and visited every table while we were here to greet everyone. Now that's great customer service, as customer we understand things happen it's how a business responses to the issue that makes for good business. Suffice it to say, I am adding to the recent reviews that this once-excellent establishment is now a subpar option. Poor attention to detail on all fronts...order acceptance (phone for takeout), order fulfillment accuracy and quality, and managerial customer service upon follow-up. Remember, a one-off poor review can be written off as an outlier, but multiple such reviews in a short timeframe constitutes a trend. Service here was great. Atmosphere was good too...the pizza though, not really my speed. Their speciality pizza is two pizza layers, but I found the middle to just be a mushy crust. The fried ravioli was great though and would have though again. If you have little ones, they'll enjoy seeing the train ride around the top of the room and the cooks ring the bell as it comes around. read more

Looks can be deceiving: we ordered 2 small 10" pizzas (one double decker pepperoni, bacon, and banana peppers, and one single babes special, no pepperoni, add sausage). The pizzas look pretty good, but the single tastes like cardboard, and the double had a long gray hair in it. The "garlic" bread was literally a sub roll, cut in half, and topped with cheese and a dash of whatever seasoning they put on it. No garlic taste at all. Everything was very bland tasting. The tomato sauce has no flavor... basically tomato paste in a cup. Overall we paid just under $60 (unbelievably overpriced) as EACH TOPPING WAS AN EXTRA $2.50, even though one of the pizzas was their "babes special". Never again... with $60 I could have had a sit-down filet mignon! We didn't like any of it and won't be saving it for another day read more

This place is nestled behind the Einstein's Bagels off of King Rd, with the most awkward parking lot situated behind the building. However, the service is friendly and prompt. Definitely a family business that's been operated for a while. There's a little train that circles the dining area. The menus a little small but it's an old fashioned pizza joint. We ordered the double decker, which was interesting. It came out nice and hot. I think it could use a little more seasoning in the sauce to make the sauce a little more favorable. However, that could just be me liking a stronger flavor to my pizza sauce. The one down side is they charge you full price for half and half pizzas, which I think is pretty common for pizza places. I know most people wont complain, but it was like an ice box inside so bundle up when you come in! read more

If you like pizza that's not like all the rest, this is the place. It's a little thicker, if that's your style. If it's not, like me, it's still extremely good pizza. My favorite in the area is Pizza Rock, but this is a close second. I've had both the regular pizza and the double decker. The picture attached is the regular. It's full of flavor and not greasy, which is a huge plus. I had take out both times I've tried Babe's, but I know there's places to sit and they serve beer with good specials. When I got it home, anxious to try it, I took my first bite. I thought it looks good, but it tasted burned. Turned out, the bottom of the crust was completely black,/burned. This was some pretty bad pizza unfortunately. We got the babe special and the cheese pizza. Delivery was super quick, it was edible, and the vegetables seemed fresh. Those are the only positive things I have to say. The crust was really bad. It was hard, but somehow had no crunch. Unseasoned as well. Not much sauce and the vegetables were just thrown on, no seasoning or anything. This was our first time trying it and we'll be hitting up different places here on out. read more

Robert loves this place. Been coming here since he was a kid. We finally made it last night to eat. We sat at the bar, right in front of the oven. So we could watch the pizzas being made. Interesting how they put the meat on the bottom and then add the cheese. I've never seen that before. And then they make these double decker pizzas. They look delicious, a lot of pizza to eat. The only thing that sucks about sitting at the bar was there's no ledge so your feet kinda bang into the counter. It was packed full on the Friday night. Lots of groups of people young and old. It was a happening place. Glad we finally go to go. And I like their little train that goes round in the top. read more

It's one of those Brandon landmarks that must be visited at least once for the experience. It has a steady stream of locals visiting it daily (except on Monday). I've known about it for a while, but never actually visited Babe's until recently. The most popular item on the menu is the double decker pizza. It's very unique. I've never had anything quite like it before. The crust is very thin (like a cracker). The taste reminded me a little of the Godfather's Pizza crust (back in the day). There are 2 layers of crust and 2 layers of toppings in a double decker. They have a special technique of putting it all together. Ours had pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms. It was delicious and so full of cheesy goodness (double the cheese). We also shared an order of the garlic cheese bread as an appetizer. In hindsight, I would have just ordered the pizza. The appetizer was good, but it was just too much food. I could only eat one slice of pizza after eating the appetizer. It may be best to start with a salad instead. The only negative is the way they serve the beverages. There are no refills. You can either order by the glass, or pay for a pitcher. This is very old school. I was also not too impressed with the atmosphere. It's dark and smoky (from the pizza oven). The dining area really needs an update, and they need to get rid of the window drapings and rug (full of soot). The building is very old, but the interior can easily be updated. Other than that, the service was very good. The model train circling the dining area was also very entertaining. Just don't expect it to be like a New York or Chicago style pizza joint. When we first moved to Brandon many years ago and found Babe's Pizza, it quickly became our go to pizza place. Double Decker pizza's were novel, and the quality and taste were to die for. Then some number of years ago I understand that ownership changed and quality took a nose dive. Last night my daughter had a taste for Babe's so I reluctantly agreed to let her place a take out order for the family. Large double decker plain cheese, large double decker pepperoni, small cheese and mushroom, and cheese bread. The quality and tasted was back to what we had fallen in love with. BABES IS BACK!!! We have been patrons of Babe's pizza since 1980 and the newest owners had slacked off with some changes during COVID and GM changes. About 7-9 months ago something in the recipe changed but we were missing Babe's so much that we gave. If them another try this past weekend and we were so pleased that they fixed the issue with the GM and went back to the "original " Babe recipe. We will definitely return to our weekly ordering!
