My family and I have been eating here for over 10 years. Food is made with care and love. If you like spicy Thai food or chill Thai this family will take care of you. Food is AMAZING. My favorites are the catfish, pineapple fried rice, and mango sticky rice.

8.6/10 We ordered the Pad Thai Noodle, Chicken Curry (hot), and Tom Kha Soup with Chicken. Starting with the Pad Thai, this was my personal favorite of the night. It had that perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors, with a generous portion of beef throughout. There was a subtle citrusy hint that almost tasted like a touch of orange, which gave it a unique twist, plus just the right amount of spice. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying. Definitely a staple and a must-order. The Chicken Curry was ordered hot, and they definitely delivered on the heat. It had a strong kick but was still packed with rich, bold flavor. The sauce was thick and aromatic, and pairing it with rice is a must to soak up all that curry goodness. The carrots added a nice texture and slight sweetness that balanced the spice. Overall, I'd absolutely order this again. Lastly, the Tom Kha Soup with Chicken. While it wasn't my personal favorite, it was still very flavorful and rich. The broth was creamy and packed with generous pieces of chicken. For me, it felt a bit heavy for a soup, but I can see how others would really enjoy that richness. The carrots and mushrooms were a great addition and added depth to the dish. Service was attentive and fast, even when the restaurant got busy. The ambiance was clean and cozy, on the smaller side, but they handled the crowd well and stayed efficient.

We came here for Hubby's Birthday Dinner after our daughter's soccer game. We enjoyed the food which was more on the lighter side. Reminds me of a Chinese restaurant but a healthier version. Service was fast and waitstaff was friendly and attentive. I liked the ambiance, informal but yet much more elegant than most Asian restaurants around here.

Ordered to go and cook rice at home. Ordered 4 dishes $75 Pad see ew with beef Duck curry Pineapple curry chicken Panang curry pork 4 of us ate dinner last night and had enough leftovers for another dinner. Mild was perfect spice level for me. I can only handle slightly spicy. The pad see ew was mild + and a tad too spicy for me but good for the rest of the family. It had a lot of beef but we prefer more noodles.

My friends and I were in Carmel for the weekend and had a craving for Thai food so tried Baan Thai. We got takeout so I can't comment on the ambiance, but the take out was packaged nicely. What we tried: - chicken pad se ew: I love pad se ew, but this one was just ok. Noodles were cooked well, but it missing some flavor. - pork pad thai: a lot of great flavors going on here. The noodles were great, but I wish it came with peanuts. - pumpkin curry: made with kabocha pumpkin, the mild was a bit spicy for me. Also there were some hard bits of the kabocha in the curry so unfortunate not my favorite thing to eat. Note: you have to order rice on the side as it does not come with rice - pineapple fried rice: the fried rice was packed full of flavor and my favorite thing of the 4 things tried. All in all the food was ok.

Khao Soi 5/5: This item was listed on a board near the entrance. I did not see this on the menu. Khao Soi is a curry noodle dish that's usually served with chicken, pickled veges, and fried noodles as a topping. I love the curry is this dish as it's not too salty but it packed with flavor. The pickles help cut through the richness and the fried noodles at texture. Just be careful slurping as you might get your clothes dirty. I hope they will continue to serve this dish! Spicy Noodles 5/5: I ordered this thinking it sounded like Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) - my go-to Thai dish. This did not disappoint! We got this with Mild heat and it was perfect. The spiciness slowly builds as you continue to eat and the basil was aromatic. Duck Curry 5/5: I'm coming back for this. The curry is so rich and flavorful. The duck is also very tender. I highly recommend this dish if you're looking to try a new curry. Pineapple Fried Rice 4/5: The rice is covered in turmeric and there's pineapple chunks and raisins sprinkled throughout. This isn't my cup of tea, but my friends and family love this dish. Iced Thai Coffee 5/5: So good! This was a steal for $4. It is on the sweeter side like most Thai drinks, but the strong coffee balances it out.

omg you know a thai place is good when they have the vinegar ifykyk. super casual place with cute christmas decor. we were seated super quickly and food came out fast. The papaya salad was fire and we got spicy level 3 but had a good kick to it. I thought the pad see ew portion was huge and the vinegar made everything balanced. i did think at first the sauce on sad see ew was a little too sweet.

Quaint spot in a quaint town! The papaya salad was sooo good, and a perfect level of spicy. I liked the duck noodle soup; the meat bits were cut into small pieces and absorbed the soup's flavor. The staff was so welcoming and helpful!

Literally hidden but it's toward the back corner, right of the Sanctuary. There's an opening & walkway & it's the right corner. I almost gave up trying to look for it. The servers are very friendly & attentive. The ambiance was peaceful and cozy. The food was flavorful. The beef pad see ew was huge and was delicious. The chicken satay was okay -- the chicken was lacking flavor. I felt like I had to add a lot of peanut sauce to it. The Thai iced tea was a good size and it was good, a little on the sweet side.

Love me some Green Curry it's so good our usual consists of Chicken Green Curry, Pork Pad Thai and Fried Spring Rolls (for our drive back home) it never disappoints! Definitely also try the Sticky Rice and Mango if you're craving something sweet. Wish there was one in Salinas I'd go every week! read more

Food is very good. Staff is friendly and they remember us (because we ALWAYS order the "salad rolls" and ask how many they have left). Their "spicy" is not spicy to me, but I've been told I tolerate more heat than most. Fresh ingredients and authentic taste. Massaman curry is GOOD. read more

Delicious food, beautifully presented. It was time for lunch while the car I had bought at the nearby dealership was being readied. We were fortunate to find Baan Thai in the next block. I ordered green curry with brown rice (vegetarian option with tofu) and my friend had the yellow curry with chicken and white rice. The green curry had many vegetables, cooked till just tender, in a delicious sauce. My friend loved her chicken curry as well. The restaurant is not visible from the street or parking lot. We are glad we persisted and found it in the second row of buildings in the complex. read more

Solid service and I didn't mind driving 10 minutes to Baan Thai when I could have walked to a couple Thai restaurants nearby... but I was on a mission... to find the best Chicken Pad Thai so I ordered two. I gave my sister one as well as an order of fried spring rolls. She never called to say thank you for the dinner so I'm guessing it wasn't memorable for her. I've had pleasant experiences here over the years but tonight was not one of them. I dug the Chicken Pad Thai because it had tender pieces of chicken breast through the noodle dish but there was something in the sauce that had me puzzled... it was like an exaggerated flavor of something that I could not pin point... like a forced "umami"... I thought it was some kelp like flavor but I'm wondering if it was fish sauce... I don't mind fish sauce but this didn't taste very fishy... really kelpy... plantlike. Strange and definitely not used to "that" flavor in my pad thai. This mystery flavor also produced a mild scent that wasn't very pleasurable to my senses. My Mom who is a major foodie told me that it was "inedible".... I'm sure most people wouldn't mind it, it is just that if you have a learned palate then you probably would taste this funkiness. I'm hoping something or someone was just off this night. read more

I've been here multiple times and have always had great service. The staff are very attentive and were very good at refilling our waters. Make sure you try their pumpkin curry! I will definitely return. I always leave with leftovers because the portions are big. Perfect for sharing. We usually get a noodle dish and curry dish and share it between two people. read more

Wow wee was this little pace a diamond in the rough. While it's in a shoddy area, don't mistake this for anything less than awesome. We ordered tom kah Kai, pineapple curry and papaya salad. While the papaya salad had a more spicy hint than citrus flavor, it was still delicious. The tom kah was smooth and flavorful, and was my wife's favorite. I will certainly be back! read more

I just called in and picked up the red chicken curry lunch - medium spicy $7.50. This place NEVER DISAPPOINTS! The subtle hint of Thai basil balanced perfectly with coconut milk and spice hits the spot, and satisfies your craving. Hands down the best Thai food on the peninsula. I should come here more often! read more

I'm visiting from the Bay Area ! Used to better service and better quality of food !! The service was so rude and super unfriendly ! Felt like we were unwanted ! They were super rude to the kids . Seemed like they were not used to serving kids. The food was worst then the service they provided which sucked !! I would never want to come here again in a million years !!! I love coming here for their green (coconut) curry and spicy fried rice my sister took a chance on them and she let me try her food and I have been going back for the past 5 months they have lunch specials M-F with soup or salad. Everyone should try this place you want be disappointed. The wait staff is friendly and they do carry out which is good because I'm always on the go and the wait for the food is really short. read more

Best Thai food in all of Monterey County. This delicious place has great service and will even make your food spicy if you like it that way. Pretty hard to find, but once you find the place you want to come back. You can do take out or you can sit down and place. Are usually get the pad Thai but you can order a different levels of spiciness I always make the mistake of ordering spicy when I traditionally enjoy just the way it is nice and mild and pad Thai. I will definitely be back here love this place. love it love it love it read more

Don't be fooled by the shopping center sign that says "Barn Thai" This is very delicious food in a clean, older restaurant. Very attentive when they can be, but understaffed. They only have one server/cashier/host and an older gentlemen that serves the beverage, so patience is a must. But it is worth it. read more

This place has great food and is very reasonably priced. They're service tends to be a little slow, as it seems they are a bit short staffed. The pad thai seems to be lacking in flavor so I opted for the pineapple curry the next time around, amazing. The pineapple fried rice and pumpkin curry are also great choices. Their mango sticky rice is also an excellent choice, for dessert. read more

Consistently delicious! This is one of my comfort food places, especially when the weather is getting colder. We have a pretty standard order: Beef Pad Thai, Chicken Yellow Curry and Pork Pineapple Fried Rice. You can eat them separately or scramble them all together on your plate and it's amazing either way. We usually order a "1" or "2" level spicy, with 5 being the most spicy. We ordered a "3" spicy once, and couldn't eat it! Thai iced tea is always a winner, and sometimes there's deep fried ice cream! They are great making your order to go also, which is a good option if it's super busy! read more

Love this place! Come here often and get my usual, Tom Yum Soup, Angel fingers (best sauce in the world, I would do a lot to learn how to make that sauce. Just for myself and no one else ) and the Beef Pad Thai. So great. This place is off the beaten path. It's hidden behind Harumi, another great place off Fremont street in Seaside. Worth every penny. Frankly, I'm frigginobbsessed with Thai food. It's one of my favorite cuisines after having it all over the Thai-saturated Seattle area, growing up and going through college there. As such, I consider myself to have some sense of judgement of this genre of food, something I am don't loosely say as otherwise I'm probably pretty dumb :p In any event, I only ate one dish from this place and had a spoonful of my brother's curry and a wave of relief and renewed sense of hope washed over me. I realized I would indeed be able to have good Thai food in Monterey where I often find myself visiting family. I tried a few other places that teased my palate as that-special-thing-that-makes-food-wonderful was just not there. Baan Thai's got it goin' on. Definitely recommended. read more

I was just here last night, and they never disappoint. This is the BEST place in the county to get pad thai! We ordered the butterfly shrimp as an app, which was served with this spicy sweet and sour sauce. AMAZING. For our entrees we ordered Chicken Pad Thai, Tofu Kai Koar, and Shrimp Yellow Curry. All incredibly amazing. Service is always prompt and friendly, I look forward to it every time I come :) read more

The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because I've had about 6 meals here and all have been pretty good. But this last takeout order was so bad I couldn't even make myself eat it; I threw everything out!!! Everything I ordered was full of broccoli and carrots and iceberg lettuce, including my coconut soup. The ingredients were so cheap and for a 1 person to go meal costing over $25 that was so bad I couldn't eat, will not bother coming back! Not sure if they have a new cook or was just an off night but seriously disgusting. read more

This place hit or miss. Went on a weekend and food was great. Weekday, everything bland. Not my favorite Thai restaurant. Pad Thai noodles over cooked, no flavor and coconut soup tasted like water. Nice staff inside and curry generally good. Must use different chefs as this has happened more than once to myself and others it looks like from past reviews. read more

Five stars may be a bit generous for Baan Thai, but for your money, it's about as good as it gets. While the location is funky, the food does not disappoint. It was originally recommended to me by a local chef almost a decade ago and it's since been a consistent lunch or dinner spot ever since. We once went with a coworker that spoke Thai and she ordered lots of off-menu yumminess that the entire group enjoyed immensely. read more

I LOVVVVE THIS PLACEE!! I've been a customer since 2006! best thai restaurant I've ever had. I've had several other thai restaurants in Monterey and also in San Jose, but I like Baan Thai the most. Very good service! and AMAZING FOOD!! I always get Pad Thai, and sometimes Spicy Noodle. Curry here is really good too. I love the soup that they give during the lunch time. I went here for dinner with my boyfriend last week. The parking lot was pretty packed and it was raining, but we managed. The place was pretty small but we were seated right away. I ordered the Pad Woon Sen (glass noodles stir-fried with chicken, egg and mixed vegetables) and my boyfriend ordered the panang curry (curry coconut milk with panang chili paste, bell pepper, carrots, baby corn and thai basil). My boyfriend also ordered a Thai ice tea, which was quite good (and I don't normally like the taste of Thai tea)! Our food was yummy and the portions were perfect. We will definitely be returning here for dinner in the future. read more

I have been in here many times and the food and service has never failed me. It doesn't look like much inside (not to mention it's strange location), but the food is absolutely delicious with fresh ingredients. I highly recommend to ask for brown rice instead of the white, because it is so good! I am not so keen on the soup that comes with the lunch specials, so I opt to get the salad, but everything else is SO good. read more

If you haven't come for lunch then you are missing out. I know for a fact that they every day they get the freshest vegetables and other supplies. I see the owner out and about shopping daily. If you haven't been here or think it is just another Thai restaurant then you are mistaken. People I have run into in other states who have traveled to Monterey say to me they have had dinner there and have praised and raved about the food. People on vacation mostly talk about the Monterey Bay aquarium or the golf course is not too many people talk about restaurants except for Krua Thai so if you miss it when you came to Monterey, then you're missing out.

I actually was not that hungry but after discussion of the dish with the owners I just had to sample it right then. I ordered it to go but not even kidding I almost ate all three pieces it was that good. Oh my goodness, hands down some of the very best Fish N Chips I ever ate. Nice plateful with three good size pieces. The batter is flavorful with just the right amount of crunch. The vinegrette sauce with aioli mayo and a mix of spices makes the fishes flavors blend very nicely. Cambodian crunchy slaw is a very tasty pairing. Maybe just a tad on the salty side but otherwise perfect. A good helping of narrow fries as well. Definitely enough food to be shareable if you are able to or even want to. I will be looking forward to returning for the light flavorful Alaskan cod at Cong N Go as long as they continue to serve it. Thanks so much for an excellent and very enjoyable afternoon meal. The food here overall is amazing and all of you looking for a change of pace have to stop by and sample the menu.

The cleanliness of the restaurant was superb! They used to have a bunch of old money hanging up in the bar area and it always seemed really dirty to me. Now it's all clean and painted and it looks good! I had the lunch bento box with a side of inari and they serve PEPSI! All the waitresses worked together to provide amazing service for all their guests. It was nice to see they knew the regulars that came in. Serving their drinks without even having to ask. Ordered Combo 2 (2 Snow Crab clusters, head on shrimps, potatoes, corn, and sausages), and added two eggs. We chose the House Cajun/medium spice. There was no Cajun flavor nor spiciness. Whatever sauce that was not great but it also wasn't horrible but definitely not what you would expect for a Cajun seafood boil. The potatoes were super hard, the eggs were not peeled, and the corns were not sweet. The crab and shrimp however were thick and meaty so that was a positive. We also ordered Cajun fries that were seasoned nicely and sweet potatoes fries. The side of steam rice were kind of hard but I think this might be due to it nearing closing time. We were there an hour and a half before closing. The place had both tables and booths seating. Service was good even with one server and one cook servicing 5 tables. Overall, would not come back for the seafood boil but maybe for the Chinese food they serve. There was an extensive menu option for those.

I Wish I could have given Baan Thai 5 stars as we were really excited about trying this place out. I heard the food was really good but the service can be really bad, but I didn't think it would be this bad! Had the WORST service ever!!!!!! I know the food is supposed to be good & too bad we didn't get to taste anything. Sat there for literally for 40 minutes!!! Finally got water after waiving down the waitress. I had to get up & go to the counter to ask for our soup. Sat there another 35 minutes as we watched as a guy who walked in 30 minutes After us slurp up the last of his dinner. Then Watched a guy storm out not happy at all! after he sat behind us for 30 minutes with not even able to order any food or water. No one acknowledged him. Our Soup Finally came out luke warm, so not sure how long it was sitting in the kitchen. Then Had to waive the waitress down again for spoons. I Finally walked back up to the counter as the waitress was packing up food to go for take out. Asked for a manager & she snapped "she's in the back cooking!!! ". I said I don't care I want to speak to her please. Another 15 minutes... Owner never shows up!!! WTH!!! Now were starving, so decided to slap money down for the crappy soup & walked out!! Never had to do that but come on that was the worst service ever!!!! Came to Saritas down the street & got service with a smile in 3 minutes. read more

Baan Thai continues to be my very favorite restaurant on the peninsula. I love the fresh dishes and the spices that make the meals special. The Won Ton soup is unequaled anywhere, with chicken meat balls with a little peppery taste, and the fresh and tender bok choy gives the soup the fresh crispiness that makes this a super fire pot soup. I really like the Khao Tung appetizer; the rice cakes are made fresh, and taste really great with the ground chicken curry. All of the noodle dishes are really great, filled with lots of fresh vegetables. The service is very friendly, and the restaurant is always neat and clean, reflecting the extraordinary effort the owners invest in their restaurant each day. read more

Really very good Thai food, particularly for the Monterey Peninsula. Monterey just doesn't have much in the way of good choices for Thai, and we have tried at least 5 of them. This is by far the best of the bunch, with authentic dishes, friendly service and reasonable prices. Actually all of them have reasonable prices, but the others all lack that taste of authenticity. The vegetarian coconut milk soup was perfect as well as the panang curry. Sometimes they spice this too much for most Americans or go to the opposite extreme without asking. Baan Thai actually asks how you want it and delivers it that way. I don't think you will go wrong here. read more

The food and service at this place was excellent. Thai Iced tea: Excellent. It was made just the way I like it. Tom Kha Gai (Vegetarian coconut milk soup): This was really tasty. My mom said it was the best Tom Kha Gai she has ever had. Pumpkin Curry: Very yummy. We had some other dishes and we enjoyed everything. The server was very attentive and warm. Also, later I payed my bill and finished up, I locked myself out of my car. Staff came outside and was concerned and helped me out. I think it was getting busy in their restaurant too but they still seemed to care. I felt like I was being treated as family. read more

I had an amazing experience at this Thai restaurant! The food was incredibly flavorful and authentic -- every dish was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice. I especially loved the Pad Thai and the Green Curry -- both were fresh, aromatic, and full of vibrant ingredients. The service was excellent, too. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The cozy atmosphere and beautiful Thai decor made the whole dining experience even better. I've gone to Baan Thai several times and have never had a single problem. The employees always will do their best to serve their customers and the food is always superb! Last week I took my friend out to eat there for the first time and we ordered our food, "as spicy as you can make it." and BOY WAS THAT HOT! We were sweating the entire time, but my friend said he had never had a restaurant make such delicious food. It's a must if you like Thai food or feel a bit adventurous. read more

Best Thai food in Monterey for sure. Their panang curry is to die for, and their cashew chicken is mmm mmm good. I eat chicken satay at every thai place I go to and there's is quite good. Very well priced and I have been to every thai place on the peninsula and they are still the best. read more
