I been coming to Krua Thai for many years. They have just updated the inside of their restaurant. Not to many restaurant's are so clean and continue keep things up to date and with good food and great service. If you haven't come for lunch then you are missing out. I know for a fact that they every day they get the freshest vegetables and other supplies. I see the owner out and about shopping daily. If you haven't been here or think it is just another Thai restaurant then you are mistaken. People I have run into in other states who have traveled to Monterey say to me they have had dinner there and have praised and raved about the food. People on vacation mostly talk about the Monterey Bay aquarium or the golf course is not too many people talk about restaurants except for Krua Thai so if you miss it when you came to Monterey, then you're missing out.
We came here based on a recommendation from another Thai restaurant owner and we were not disappointed! The food was hot, fresh and delicious and plates were close to being licked clean. The staff were so kind and had great recommendations. We came during lunch and did their lunch specials and the coconut soup was to die for. Highly recommend stopping in for lunch!
We were looking for something good to eat and Yelpers didn't let me down. We were greeted immediately by two lovely ladies and seated near the window. The restaurant was nicely decorated and orderly. Service was prompt. The food was GREAT and we both left FULL! The lemonade was sooooo good! And my daughter loved their Thai tea. This was my first stop in Monterey and I wasn't disappointed! I'll definitely be back when in the area!
8.6/10 Tried the Pad Thai Noodles, Yellow Curry, and Tom Yum Noodle Soup, overall a really enjoyable experience! The Pad Thai hit the flavor perfectly with that sweet and savory balance and a generous portion of beef. The sauce was fantastic, but the noodles were very clumped together, which made it a bit tricky to eat, each bite felt like a single dense clump. The Yellow Curry was the star of the meal definitely a must-try! The sauce was rich and flavorful, and pairing it with rice really helps soak it all up. Plenty of chicken and potatoes, with carrots and onions that were cooked just right. Saucy, hearty, and satisfying. The Tom Yum Noodle Soup was also excellent. I got the chicken version, and they don't skimp on protein! The soup had perfect rice noodles, mushrooms, and fresh cilantro. The broth was rich yet light, perfect for warming up. My only small gripe: the tomatoes were a bit too tart. Service was fast and attentive, and the ambiance felt clean and upscale.
Great service, welcoming environment, very clean restaurant! The food was very fresh, healthy, and came out quickly. I got mine as a level 3/5 spicy and wish I would have got a 4 or even a 5 - it was the perfect amount of sweet and spicy :) my husband got the same dish but with beef and he loved it also! And the restaurant was very affordable! Def recommend

I moved away seven years ago, but I still make a point of coming back whenever I can because the food and experience are simply that good. After all these years, it has remained a favorite--and that says a lot. Consistently delicious, great service, and absolutely worth the trip
The tofu pad thai was chef's kiss--perfect spice level and super fresh. I ordered extra peanuts and they delivered (big win because not everyone does!). Everything was flavorful and exactly what I needed. Definitely hit the spot!

The new bench says are very comfortable. I keep coming back for the roasted duck soup!! It's hearty broth is complimented by the tender and tasty pieces of duck. So much duck for $22. But there are many things to recommend. The crab cheese wontons are unique from others I've had in that you can actually see lumps of crab meat. They're also a little spicy but perfectly complimented by the plum sauce. The pad see ew is the perfect balance of soy saltiness and sweetness. The broccoli was cooked perfectly, still had chew, but still very green and not mushy at all. The egg rolls were crispy and a little dense but still very tasty. The owner, MJ is happy to serve you each time you come and will remember you. He greets most his guests with a personal touch that's hard to find these days. Attentive and kind, the lot of them. Heard from several locals that this is their favorite place too while I was out and about in Monterey. The first time I came here, I had never had Thai food and now that I know the cuisine much better, I know they're doing something right for sure.

We walked in with a group of 9 and the owner sat us down and made room for us like it was no big deal (it was decently packed at the time and our friends had a group of 15 that made reservations ahead of time). Food was delicious but more impressively--it came out hot, tasty, and SUPER quick. Not sure who the chef is but mad props! When I came home and checked my receipts, I saw a discrepancy. I emailed the owner who responded within a few hours. Said he would make things right. LOVE this owner! You've earned 9 customers for life, plus we will forever recommend this restaurant to all of our friends and family!
Visited this restaurant for lunch, and the service was exceptional. We had to go almost at the closing time, but they were kind enough to cook and serve us. The food was amazing and everyone in our group loved it. The ambiance of the place is very calm with soothing music. As in every other place in California, the parking was difficult near this restaurant; we had to look for some street parking a few streets down.
I had been looking forward to trying this Thai food place for quite a while, and was always near it when they were closed as it's next to my favorite breakfast spot on Munras Ave. When a group of us decided to celebrate my husband's retirement with Thai food, I thought well here is my chance. We arrived and were greeted right away, and we told the staff there would be five of us. We were seated in the back near the rear entrance. Our waitress was cleaning the table next to us after we sat down but she preferred to not answer any questions about the menu until she was finished cleaning. She arrived a few minutes later and took our drink order and we asked for Tai Teas and regular hot tea. I asked for coconut milk in mine and was accommodated. The menu is extensive and so many interesting foods to choose from. I did get my questions about the menu answered finally. I opted for a choice I often try at new Thai restaurants which is Pad Thai as every place seems to prepare it a little differently. Here they will make it as spicy as you desire so to be safe I requested just a little spice per the staff's recommendation. My husband ordered the BBQ chicken, and it comes with small corn and other vegetables. My friend ordered a Spring Roll appetizer to share, and the vegetables with rice. The Spring Rolls were quite tasty and the peanut sauce was very flavorful. Our orders came in a timely fashion, all except for my husband's chicken which took a few extra minutes. The Pad Thai was made with rice noodles that reminded me of spaghetti. The tofu was cold but flavorful. The spice level was good. Overall very filling but not remarkable. BBQ chicken was very good and extremely tender, my husband said he enjoyed it very much. My friend did not remark about her vegetable dish but she did enjoy the Spring Rolls. Now for the less positives our waitress kept disappearing, and the dishes piled up so we had to ask another waitress to clear the table We asked for To Go boxes and La, our waitress brought two small ones which were not adequate so I asked for larger ones. To be fare they are generous with the portions. La returned and I looked up to see larger boxes held out in front of me while she was speaking to customers at another table which seemed odd but I reached across my friend to take them from the waitress. There were sea gulls outside the back door and they kept flying into the glass window and bumping it which was very strange indeed. Overall I was intrigued enough to return and hope to try some other dishes; they have a lunch menu I would like to check out sometime. I think I'll ask to sit nearer the front away from the back door to avoid the sea gulls outside. The tables are small and the plates are large so if you have more than four people at your table it can get crowded. The prices are reasonable and despite the inconsistent service I would like to come try this place again. Hope to be able to give a higher rating next time.

Absolutely incredible meal. We come here every year as a team when the Car Show comes around, and we are always blown away. All the flavors are so traditional and fresh, and the employees are funny and kind. Definitely, HIGHLY, recommend to anyone on the fence. read more

Krua Thai has always been accommodating and the staff is very friendly! It's unfortunate that some of the other reviews haven't had the same experience. Other than that, the food is always rich with deep flavors. The yellow and pumpkin curries are delicious. The restaurant is clean and I've never had a long wait to be sat. I cannot emphasize enough how amazing the Yum Khoong shrimp salad is! It has the perfect balance of sweet, salty, and sour enhanced with fresh herbs. I love it so much, we had to get it again during our short stay in Monterey. The pad Thai was also descent in flavor and size. The noodles are thinner than we were used to so it lost the chewiness pretty quickly. My son still loved it tho. Minus one star for the Tom yum noodle soup which was super bland and lacked all the authentic Thai spices I would expect. I ended up picking out the shrimp and tossing it into the shrimp salad sauce. Maybe trying the soup without the noodles would've been a better idea. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. read more

Absolutely love this place. The pineapple curry is phenomenal and the spicy eggplant with tofu is one of my favorites even though I love any meat! The texture of that fried tofu is great! And the service is always excellent! Also a very classy and stylish place though it's small. It's very beautiful and quaint! I just wish they were open Mondays too, because I always seem to crave this place on Monday's but need to remember beforehand! I know that they need a day or two off like everyone else! read more

I've been here multiple times! It's still a good Thai spot in the local neighborhood. Staff is friendly & they're always busy. The Tom yum noodle soup is great, I wish they had it year round, that's what we got this time. The rolls were good & overall your typical options of curry, noodles were available. The brown rice was really good quality! Only tricky thing is the limited seating outdoor given the parking lot. read more

Another Thai restaurant? Yep, Thai food has been my pregnancy craving. Since we were in Monterey I knew we needed to give the area's Thai cuisine a try. Plenty of street parking was available, We wandered in and were sat right away. The interior was nice, with tables equipped with white table cloths and napkins folded in a decorative manner at each place setting. The staff was friendly and our experience was positive overall. We ordered the spicy eggplant, Tom yum, and a few fried appetizers (and photographed) which were all enjoyable. The downfalls to our experience, and reason I took a star away were the following. 1. While the interior wasn't overly busy, service was a bit slow. Perhaps due to takeout orders. We sat there for awhile before our drink orders were taken and sat at our table for awhile with empty cups before able to get refills. 2. We were seated by the side door which they propped open for airflow. The airflow was nice, however little gnats kept flying in and trying to land on our food so we were battling them throughout our dining experience. I don't blame them for the outdoor bugs creeping in, but certainly something. To keep in mind for future guests. read more
