All of us got sick after eating here and we didn't share any dishes and we all ordered different things. Could have been the dishes and glasses weren't sanitized? It is the only Chinese restaurant in Tucson that makes amazing and authentic three-cup chicken. If you haven't tried this dish yet, it is a plate of caramelized chicken pieces wok'd with Thai Basil herbs to be served with warm white jasmine rice. Additionally, they serve Stinky Tofu! It is not listed on the menu but Ba-Dar is one of the two restaurants in Tucson that I know serve this rare, authentic appetizer. Really love their Kung Pao Chicken and Hot & Sour soup, this place is consistent with the food they put out and so so yummy. Service is a little slow if you dine in, but friendly. I prefer takeout. We also tried the crispy orange chicken, which was pretty tasty. I'm not sure what the crispy things are they serve the chicken over but, that's what makes it "crispy". It's different and I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Chinese. read more

It's a nice restaurant with good food and service. I went there for the lunch special and ordered the Kung Pao chicken. It was a little wetter than most places but the chicken tasted fresh and the meal was good overall. The rice was just average but mixed well with the other items. I opted for the hot and sour soup which was good as well. Total for the lunch (including pork egg roll upgrade) was $13.59. Nothing really blew me away but it's a good price, the food is good, it's clean, and the service is quick and friendly. Parking might be an issue during busier times. Good: mushu vegetables, green beans, eggplant in Chef's sauce (best of the eggplant dishes in our opinion); sesame tofu, green beans with baked tofu, eggplant sweet basil, crispy eggplant (gen Tso's of eggplant). Ok: tofu in brown sauce (teriyaki), gen. Tso's tofu (we thought sesame tofu was better); Szechuan tofu; sesame balls. Not good: Chinese broccoli in garlic sauce, veg spring rolls; kung pao tofu, veg lo mein. Generous delivery portions, though they poke holes through the takeout containers to let steam escape. Decided to order take-out from Ba-Dar during the COVID19 stay at home. Trying to support our local food industry as they try to survive. This was the first time we have ever had food from there and I can tell you definitively it will NOT be our last! Their menu is extensive and they actually have two menus, one with Chinese characters and a WIDE variety of dishes, and another more "standard" Chinese restaurant menu. We ordered crispy orange beef (has chilis in it to give a touch of heat but very orangy), Singapore rice noodle-House special (my fav), squid with snap peas and ginger and chicken lo mein. The portions are ENORMOUS. Add to all that goodness, the fact that if you spend more than $45 you get free fried rice (we got the BBQ pork) which is also huge! I am glad it was all so delicious because we are going to be eating it for days!!! In addition to delicious food, the phone service was terrific. We got disconnected accidentally (not sure if it was them or me) and when I called back she was so apologetic and helpful. When we went to pick it up it was all ready and steaming hot! Additionally, all the packages were sturdy enough that we didn't end up with a lapful of soup! Can't wait to try some of the more "exotic" items on the menu! read more

Trying to order online is a disaster of frustration. It takes forever to find what, to select one delivery only to find out you have now got another one, there is no search to be able to go directly to the items you want. After an hour, I stumbled onto one but my selection showed up in Chinese so no clue if I will get what I ordered. Now I await my food and god only knows what it will be and who will deliver it. They offer you fried won ton which tastes of stale oil. We had the Hunan chicken and sweet and sour chicken. Both sauces were insipid. The pieces of chicken were too large to be eaten with chopsticks.The white rice(no option) was super gummy. The jasmine tea was expired, no doubt, and tasted of steeped dust. It was awful. I liked this place-it's only doing take out at the moment but it was fast and easy. Great baked tofu with sprouts. The sauce was light and flavorful-kind of like a chop suey style dressing. We split the Kung pao chicken too, which had great flavor - but the chicken was a little dry. I loved the crab Rangoon and the veggie egg rolls. The pork fried rice wasn't worth the upgrade-barely any pieces of pork or veg and didn't have the greatest flavor to me or my friend.
