In January the president of this locksmith company made a proposal to provide a lock to service an elevator in my building and we agreed they would. After about a month of hearing nothing, I called and after some difficulty reached this person in a telephone call. He said they would have the lock in about a week and he would call me the next when it came in or in a day or two, if he found out from his supplier that the delay was going to be longer than that. Another month went by with nothing. No lock and no call.
When I called today I was told that the president was not in and I would have to leave a voice message. The person who took the message did not switch me over to voice mail but obviously in a mistake kept the line open at which point he appears to have started a conversation with the person I was trying to talk to and called me an asshole. Quite a surprise as I thought the conversation we had was straightforward, unemotional, and without any harsh words.
