Have heard so much about this restaurant and finally made our way. The service is decent but this place transforms more into a happy hour pub at night. They have $7 margaritas and half priced tequila during happy hour. The tacos we ordered were very mediocre though and I have had better tacos for sure. However, the churros were really good. It was hot and served with chocolate sauce and tasted so good! Service was decent and the ambiance was okay too.
Had a great experience at Añejo Restaurant. The food was flavorful and well-prepared, with lots of tasty options to choose from. The portions were decent and left us satisfied without feeling overly heavy.
Tacos will always be my favourite food so I am always on the hunt to find the best places. One of my favourite spots to go in the city is Anejo, especially the location at Shops at Donmills. Yes you must always make a reservation before going, because they are always packed! The ambiance and service here is always stellar regardless of how packed it is. The music can be quite loud and with the amount of people inside as well, it can be difficult hearing your people at your table. Now for the food itself, the tacos always hit here! Probably one of my favourite places to go just to get guac & chips which they make right at your table so you know it's fresh! I love coming here for happy hour because the tacos are $3 each. My favourites are always the Fish and the Carnitas taco. The Birria Tacos are also so delicious here! Will always be my go to for mexican food and definitely recommend! 9/10 recommend!
A set of three tacos was the perfect portion size for one person! Service was great! They were great with accommodating food allergens.

If you're going to start with chips and dip, I'd recommend the house salsa tasting ($16) over the tableside guacamole. Firstly, it includes more than just salsa, containing a small portion of guacamole and salty silky refried black beans, which is a great way to get a taste of everything. Of course, there's also three salsas ranging from a mild pico de gallo, a medium salsa roja, to the spiciest salsa verde. They're all lovely and fresh with the only drawback being the lopsided chip to dip ratio. So, if you're visiting during lunch, you should consider the speedy Gonzales lunch special ($16) along with the starter. Offered from 11am to 3pm daily, half the plate is filled with tortilla chips... more than enough to finish off the salsa. With a choice of two classic tacos and a decent portion of guacamole, it's a satisfying combination that kept me filled until dinner. The tacos are bland on their own but come with a crate of sauces for diners to customize to their own tastes. The garlic mayonnaise goes well with the crispy fish taco, especially topped with pico de gallo and salsa roja to help cut through the oiliness of the over-battered fish. Meanwhile, all the hot sauces seemed to pair nicely with the braised beef taco. My favourite combination was with the spicier sauces as they held up against the beef, while the pickled radish helped to calm down the heat. And what's an amazing patio without a relaxing and friendly vibe? Since Añejo wasn't packed, they also allowed us to sit around and graze through the chips and dip. It an establishment for those who want to chat and catch up over a leisurely long lunch.
I came for happy hour tacos and it was amazing. I ordered 8 tacos for myself and I still couldn't get enough. The meats were juicy and flavourful with a nice soft tortilla. The sauces that came with paired very nicely. I loved trying the different hot sauces. Service was good, our waiter was very nice and the food came fairly quick. When I went I was seated in a heated patio and it was a very nice area with its own bar close by. Overall, this is a nice place for some tacos and drinks during happy hour.
Decided to give this place a try and it definitely exceeded expectations. The food was absolutely delicious, and even though we just had beer, the drinks were great too. We were seated at the patio bar since they required reservations, which we didn't have. That was fine, but we noticed about 50% of the place was empty, so it was a bit odd they didn't offer indoor seating (we were there for hours). Also, the bartender seemed a bit cold toward us while being friendlier to others sitting nearby. Aside from that, the vibe was excellent and everything else made up for those small things.
Came on a Saturday night for dinner without reservations, and were told we needed to wait even though there were multiple empty tables available. We were happy to wait, but after 30 minutes we still had not gotten a call so we asked again, and was seated right away at one of the empty tables all along. Slightly frustrating. Once we were seated, the service was good, however, the food was very mixed. We got three tacos and a Molcajete de Carne. The three tacos were dismal, as they were bone dry, lacking flavor, and overall very disappointing. I don't even know how they served such bad tacos and are getting away with it. The Molcajete was on the other side of the spectrum. It was swimming in a delicious sauce, full of meats and topped with cheese. At the end of the day, I would not come back so giving it two stars.
I love Mexican food, specially Tacos and I love margaritas. And Anejo offers both in a high quality and a nice atmosphere. We reserved a table on the patio (covered during winter) and were seated at no time upon arrival. The staff are very friendly. The service is great and we received information on specials and recommendations for our order. We ordered "Guacamole", and tacos. Guacamole is fresh and made at your table; it's always nice to watch food preparation. The food was fresh and tasty and we enjoyed the both the vibe and our food.
I love Mexican food. Anejo has a downtown location but this one is close to my grandparents house. Ambiance: Cool vibe, great for drinks, appetizers and dinner. Very chill. Service: It was great, server was attentive and helpful. Food: Love their tacos! We got the pork carnitas, beef and fish tacos! Highly recommend this restaurant
Service was good and fast We had fish taco that was super bland, absolutely no spice , not even salt! The other dish with shrimp was not bad The Ambiance was good Over all if I want Mexican food, i would not come back here.
Came for happy hour (3-5 pm) for the half prices tacos. The inside is dark, but spacious. Nice decorated with ample seating and lots of walking room. There is also a super long bar stocked with lots of different tequilas. Had all the tacos on their happy hour but I like the fish tacos the most.
Anejo at the Shops at Don Mills is a trendy place to come for fun vibe. The place is nicely decorated especially in the patio. Everyday happy hour 3-5pm or 10pm-close gets you $4 Classic tacos, 50% off tequila, $7 beers and $7.5 Margaritas. The service is prompt and everyone is friendly and helpful. At least 3 servers reminded us about happy hour. Food is delicious and meat tender. Definitely coming back for my taco fix. read more

They're always changing the restaurant at this location in shops at don mills. They've added this restaurant, Añejo, which is known to have the largest tequila selection in Canada (I don't really drink so I did not try any). We started with the salad and coconut shrimp. The coconut shrimp wasn't great. The batter was strange, it didn't seem like it was mixed well because it still tasted powdery (like flour). And it didn't taste like coconut at all. The salsa that was served didn't really do with it as well. The salad on the other hand was amazing! Probably one of the best salads I've had in a while. It had watermelon and toasted walnuts which made it so good. The vinaigrette was so delicious. I highly recommend trying this salad. We also ordered tacos which I forgot to take pictures of (I was too excited to eat). We ordered the fish tacos and beef barbacoa. I liked the beef barbacoa out of the two, it had good flavor and good acidity. The fish in the fish tacos was crispy and cooked well but the taco lacked acidity. I think pickled onions or something pickled would have been good. Overall, a decent restaurant. I think if you enjoy drinking, this is a great spot to visit. The seating was spacious. We sat in the patio which was covered and heated (had a nice view of the Christmas tree). The restaurant was clean and the server was great. read more
Came as a party of five girlfriends! The physical restaurant and ambiance is so beautiful! Presentation of food was also really nice, this review is more about the taste. We were very underwhelmed by the taste of the food when they all looked so good. Found the meat and the shells were very dry and the temperature was on the cooler side. For not being very busy, perhaps the food was waiting to be picked up? Either way, next time we won't do those tacos. The guacamole was delicious though, manually mixed and mashed at the table. For sure a fun spot though. And it might not be a one and done, but will order something different for sure. read more
Came here on a Saturday for lunch with my husband and my girlfriend place wasn't busy yet. However, it looks like it was starting as the mall just opened. The service was fantastic. Explained everything well and had some great recommendations. Drinks were good can't complain. It's tequila. This was our second visit to this location, and while it was Happy Hour, we ordered from their regular menu as well. The Coconut Shrimp was very addictive and crunchy, while the "Tableside Guacamole" was fun to watch again. We tried the "Premium tacos" this time, which are my personal favorites. While the Classic tacos are a great price during happy hour ($3), these are elevated: Tacos De Camarón (shrimp), Quesabirria (short rib), Tacos De Pescado (mahi mahi). There are three to a plate, and the toppings were very generous! It was quite a mouthful! You can choose flour or corn tortillas, and I prefer corn. For dessert, our server surprised us with a complimentary Tres Leches, which was incredibly decadent. Their version is a lemon cake, with Dulce de Leche, and candied lemon. I find the lemon cuts down on the richness of this cake, and it was a very luscious dessert! A must-try! The mango margarita ($6 Happy Hour price) and guava Jarritos were perfect sips! The service was amazing, and overall, a very enjoyable weekend dinner! read more

Anejo has happy hour every day between 3-5 pm (yes even on weekends!) and I was at Shops at Don Mills so I immediately made a reservation and went at 4:30 pm. Happy hour means $3 classic tacos and half off tequila and beers which was a steal! We got the following drinks: - Guava margarita: Very strong guava flavour as expected with a cinnamon rim. I'm not a huge fan of guava but this was my boyfriend's drink; I'm sure he liked it. 7/10 - Mango margarita: Spicy rim!! I thought it was pretty strong in alcohol taste but my boyfriend begged to differ. Nonetheless very tasty! 7/10 Then, we got two of each of the following tacos and made our own "tasting menu": - Crispy fish: Solid taco to start with - a very large piece of fish that was very crispy. 8/10 - Pork carnitas: My taco had very dry, stringy pork, whereas my boyfriend got all the fatty juicy pieces. I wish it was more consistent but I'm aware it's not always in their control. Flavourful and pretty standard. 6/10 - Chorizo: Spicy kick and loaded with flavour. Not too dry and all the chorizo was broken up nicely. We probably should've had this one last as I felt like all I tasted was chorizo after this. 8/10 - Beef barbacoa: This was juicier than the pork for me but now this time my boyfriend said it was dry. However, the pickled radish gave it a nice finish. 8/10 All the tacos had the same basic toppings to go with it, which was red cabbage, onion, cilantro, and jalapeno. We got them on white corn tacos, and they were pretty solid in texture (did not fall apart). We got all the hot sauces on the side, which I added to all my tacos for the extra spice! In terms of service, there were a lot of workers, but for some reason our waitress was serving our table (near the back of the restaurant) and also the entire patio. I had to flag down other servers to get my order in as there was no way possible to get a hold of our assigned waitress. It was also dark inside which made it even harder. Not her fault at all though! Overall, there are definitely other Mexican restaurants that would blow this place out of the water, though I'm aware I only ate a very limited section of the menu. However, for the price of $3 tacos, I don't think this can be beat! Definitely worth it! read more
It has been a while since I enjoyed Anejo's happy hour. This time around, I decided to try something different off the menu. The Salsa tasting wasn't that great. The guacamole and beans were the best out of all of them(6.5/10) but I appreciated the extra chips. The margarita of the month was tangerine hazelnut, I believe? I didn't enjoy it. The hazelnut taste was too strong. (4/10) The Queso Fundido was also a miss but edible. Not much flavor but the dip was good. (5/10) The tacos were a miss this time around too, overall salty. I must have received scraps from a batch or something because this is not how I remembered Anejo's. It could have just been the cooks/bartender that night but, I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. read more
Anejo is in the heart of Shops of Don Mills. There's a large outdoor patio surrounding the restaurant. There's a lower floor dining area as well. This bar seems to be popular with the young crowd looking to have some cocktails and drinks. The classic tacos were decent, but I wouldn't say they are the best I've ever had. Protein added to tacos were generous. Kind of pricey but understandable since you're in the must be seen bar. Server was ok not really engaging with the clients. The lady who served the guacamole was more outgoing and fun. Kudos to her for explaining the contents of the guacamole. Would i come back? Maybe just for the vibe and people watching. Need to try more of the food on the menu so I will reserve further judgment. Reservations are strongly recommended. Some people were told 2 hr wait. read more
This has been my third time coming to Añejo for their dinner service- it was quite late (approximately 10:30 PM), and not having placed a prior reservation, I was told that there would be an estimated one hour wait for a table for 2- which I was willing to wait for (the birria tacos are just that good ). Thankfully, we were able to get a table in just under 15 minutes!! Even with the friday night rush, our waiter, Christian, was extremely patient and kind. He was able to get our drinks and food in less than 10 minutes of ordering, and was vigilant in catering to us. While catering to multiple tables, he was still able to take the time to suggest dietary modifications, which made ordering so much easier. Another worker that boosted our expectations of my dinner was William- even when he wasn't responsible for taking care of us, he would regularly check in and service us. It was a pleasant surprise to be tended to with such attention to detail on such a busy evening, and I know that I'll be coming back again just for the attentive customer service. We were seated at the patio, and although it was relatively cold night, the heaters were working and warmed me up in just minutes. I would recommend going to Añejo with friends and family, where dim lighting and loud ambiance is something that doesn't bother you. All in all; I had an amazing dinner- both the food and the service exceeded my expectations tonight, and I know for sure who to ask for when I go back again! read more
I went this evening to Anejo at the Shoppes @ Don Mills location with friends this evening The place is busy and lively for a Friday night I highly recommend reservations as I heard from somebody trying to get a table ahead of us that it was a 2 hour wait Thankfully we had reservations The menu is relatively small for food There is a lot of options for drinks I had a pineapple mojito It was pretty good and tasty Tacos are the forte of this place A solid choice of options I went with three different tacos ...a chicken tinga, a carnita/pulled pork and a beef barbacoa I also ordered a guacamole for the table It was freshly smashed It was okay ....a bit chunky .... I think thicker chips would be better or warmed chips The only setback tonight was service It was slow.....and there were some mistakes I initially ordered the guacamole to start and I think our server forgot about it and I had to remind her after the tacos came out I thought when I saw the guac was only $4 on my bill that it was comped but it turns out that it was split amongst the four of us ....it wasn't a big deal but I initially told her to put the guac on my bill Wasn't a bad night but could have been better read more
Came here during happy hour at around 3pm, where they have $3 tacos and $6 margaritas. We started with the house tasting platter (not part of happy hour), which was a great way to start off the meal. My only gripe was that there were not enough chips provided on the side. I tried some of their tacos which were some of the best I have ever had! The standout was the crispy fish, which was light and flavourful. The sauces provided on the side were also great, especially the house mayo. read more
My friends and I came for the happy hour tacos and they were delicious. We shared 6 tacos, but honestly could have had more with how good they were. We had the crispy fish, chicken and pork tacos and all of them were packed with flavour. My personal favourite was the pork, it was juicy and super flavourful. We were also served very quickly even though it was a very busy night. The restaurant's interior was very vibrant and clean. The only thing was that it was pretty pricey but the food was overall very tasty. read more
Had a fabulous lunch here on Mothers Day. The food, the staff, everything was great! This is really good Mexican food. Not TexMex fyi. AND they have Chiles en Nogada. That's something you don't find at most Mexican restaurants. It's normally reserved for special occasions. So if you're looking for the real deal , do check this place out! PS do not miss out on the Churros. Soooo good read more

Came here for lunch with some friends. The place inside was amazing and we were seated on time. Service was really good. The food here is great. Table side guacamole And the tacos were amazing My only comment would be that the seasoning is a bit tame and very toned down. So really good for people that want Mexican food with 80% less seasoning and spices. I had to add some table side sauces to my tacos. read more
A mexican restaurant at Shops at Don Mills - yay! Loved it! The restaurant is huge and has a simple interior. Washrooms are downstairs and can be confusing to find. There's a long steep set of stairs you have to walk down to find the washroom - it's like a maze down there. The upside is that it is also accessible friendly, with an elevator that takes you right down to the washrooms! Staff are also super friendly. It was busy on a Thursday night - a full house to be exact so make sure to make resos early. The food: Table side guac 10/10 - Fresh guac that's smashed table side on a stone. Perfectly seasoned and great taste. Ceviche sample 10/10 - Ceviche three ways. Three different flavours prepared, great for sharing. Served with chips and cucumber slices. Birria tacos 1000/10 - LOVED! This was aaaahmazing and I can't wait to go back for more! The consome was delicious and rich in flavour. Perfect for dipping. I could drink that consome! Definitely the highlight of the night - please get this! Shrimp tacos - didn't taste this but it looked amazing Churros 10/10 - Always best to end on churros. This was super tasty and a great finisher to the meal. Came with chocolate sauces for dipping. Overall can't wait to come back for some more birria tacos. YUM! read more

Tonight's not good. First, the receptionist lady (small lady with a small 1981 tattoo on her right arm) is very rude. The tone is not welcoming. No smile, no greetings. Second, the tacos is cold, I wanted to ask the staff to reheat it in the microwave but I was very hungry this time, so I just eat it, Not like the previous tacos I had that is so crunchy and hot. This place is massive and has renovated from the previous restaurant and offer so much more space. The covered patio is very nice and once it gets warm will be where everyone will want to sit. Service is good but when you are a restaurant and you are serving lunch and you already ran out of one of your dishes, it doesn't make any sense. By the table guacamole service was good - the show was okay but just do it in the kitchen because I don't need to see you make guacamole. The sample side salsa app was also good but even though they visually looked different, the flavours were not that unique. The best part of the meal were the tacos. Even though you only get 3, the portion size was fulfilling. Chorizo taco was okay, fish taco was very good but the braised short rib was frigging amazing. It was like a beef dip taco..everyone loved that one. Margaritas menu was unique and I guess offered a variety of options. I got the spicy habanero one but should of gone with the classic to get a baseline of their cocktail menu before venturing into the unknown. In summary good taco place for a midtown location..but better tacos down in Kensington Market. read more

Anejo was a nice spot for a group lunch. Notable mention for our server who was so pleasant and knowledgeable. I was sad that they didn't offer horchata. We did a family style lunch, started with table side guacamole and salsa platter, then ordered a bunch of tacos to share per couple, with the exception to birria since we all wanted our own. The consensus from the group was that the food was great, but not amazing. Definitely a spot to check out if you want something light and not extremely filling. read more
