The patio

We had an event that just finished around 8pm or later. We would like to find something different to eat. This restaurant is high rating in Google around this area. The restaurant has a patio, and a lot of customers have drinks. We arrived around 8:30pm, and took a table at the patio. We were looking for the menu, but they don't serve paper menu anymore. There was a QR code on the table that we could scan to see the menu. However, our phone didn't show the menu, so we required the paper menu, they only have 1 or 2, so we have to wait. We finally got the menu, they looked good, but also expensive. It was hard to decide the dishes. We ordered an appetizer called Quesadilla and an Entress Amigos Platter. It took a while to come, two dishes came at the same time, and the restaurant would be closed in 45 mins. We tried the dishes, Quesadilla was all cheese inside with salsa on the side; Amigos Platter is including everything. There were a lot of cheese that we felt really full already. We didn't take a lot of time to finish our meal. The dishes were delicious, we liked them, just the menu and the food waited a bit long. Maybe they were short staff at night.

The best steak fajita, fresh accoutrements with a side of rice and beans was perfect!

The outside from the street is so festive I was drawn to the restaurant! Once I walked in the beautiful music was playing at a background level that was very comfortable and authentic. The steak fajita was absolutely incredible and the baked burrito was large and taste amazing! The salad was so fresh with perfect dressing! The service could use some improvement. It seemed like the waitresses were on vacation and not very attentive! They should advertise for a Latina server would really complete this restaurant to be outstanding & truly authentic! I will definitely would go back for the food and the atmosphere! And I actually met the chef and she is Latina and that is authentic Mexican food! Gracias

We go to this place often and it is always amazing! The atmosphere is great, the servers are always nice and ready to help. The food is delicious. Our favourite is nachos, that are always very cheese and loaded. Tacos are amazing! yummy The drinks are cold and refreshing! I would recommend going to this place if u like cozy atmosphere, good music, by the way live band on the weekends and if you like a good Mexican cousine.

I pretty much introduce this place to everyone and anyone I regularly was with haha so that's the TLDR. Food is great, so is the service, and the drinks are delicious, and generous in portion. -[LARGE AMIGOS NACHOS] $19.25 This is corn chips baked with refried black beans, cheese, salsa roja, pico de gallo, and jalapenos. The chips are so crispy after they're baked, and the combination of all the ingredients together makes it the best plate of nachos you will EVER have. Great for sharing with a group or even to order for one as a meal! -[DOUBLE RASPBERRY MOJITO] $15.95 This cocktail is made out of rum, fresh lime juice, mint, agave, and soda water. This drink is SO delicious, that I genuinely could have had a whole pitcher of this haha. The following are some other dishes I recommend: -Mexican Bulldog (absolutely enormous drink that is a Corona tipped into your choice of flavor margarita) -Habanero Dip (this is a very hot and spicy dip so order with caution because it is not for the weak) -Quesadilla (a smaller portion than their mains, but it's always super crispy) -Tilapia Fish Tacos -Wet Burrito with Fish

Happy Cinco de Mayo! We really searched far and wide and found this super authentic Mexican restaurant which was actually so close to home! Not that I'm an expert in Mexican cuisine or anything but we did just recently visit Cancun, and these dishes definitely brought back memories of the trip! Due to it being a special occasion, when we got there, the restaurant was PACKED, but the owner was kind enough to find us a spot by the bar. Note to self: make reservations ahead of time if attempting to dine here or come early to avoid the dinner rush! I'm a sucker for Nachos so when I saw a gold star recommendation next to it on the menu, I knew I had to have it. I have absolutely no regrets We got steak fajitas as well, which came with a huge variety of accompaniments such as sauteed vegetables, rice, pico de gallo, guacamole, and refried beans. The corn tortillas served with these were still heavily corn flavoured but definitely lighter than the ones we had in Mexico which We also had to try the Birria Tacos which were fabulous! Sad to say we didn't get to try any dessert, but we were just so full! This'll definitely be the place I recommend when friends in Richmond hill ask for Mexican recommendations! Amigos Nachos $22.25 Birria Tacos $19.25 Fajitas $26.95 Lime Margarita $7 Strawberry Daquiri $9.25

Really want to give this place a 4 stars, maybe even a 5 stars thanks to the bartender that got me secret hot sauce from the kitchen that was out of this world!! However we came here coz my man wanted Fajitas, he ordered the steak fajitas that turned out to be hamburger meat. Do not put steak if it's not steak! Put beef or heck out hamburger! He was very disappointed he only get 2 of the 4 fajitas! I got the Fish tacos which was slightly dry but the special hot sauce our bartender got us made it awesome! We do want to come back to try their new birria tacos! Hope it's not hamburger meat!!

Went out for patio lunch today and service was a bit slow but the server was very nice. Appetizers: we started off with nachos and dip and wanted to try all the dips they offered. Pico de Gallo, guacamole, and the fried beans dip. All were very good and refreshing. The beans were on the spicy side but it was such a good combo. Enchiladas were nice and cheesy. Fish tacos - the fish was quite dry and very chewy, not sure if it's because of the fish they chose for this particular dish. The amigos salad was refreshing and it was just enough food for a lunch. All in all, decent!

I came to Mexican Amigos (naturally) expecting a Mexican restaurant. What I discovered instead, was a Mexican-themed bar. The place has a nice party feel to it. The walls are painted in bright colours. The TVs behind the bar are playing sports. The wait staff at Mexican Amigos are energetic, courteous and helpful. The bar offers a ton of fun drink options, including giant bulldog margaritas. If the mango bulldog is too sweet for your taste a splash of lime juice will take the sugar down the appropriate notch. Just ask the waiter. The food tasted like average bar food with a Mexican twist. Salty, greasy, and/or fried. The ground beef in the tacos felt particularly underwhelming. Mexican Amigos feels like someone smacked a sambrero on a firkin pub. I would return for drinks and the atmosphere. However, there are much better options for Mexican food.

Quite the kick!

Sometimes you have to go with the times and do an update to a oldie. Two years ago I wrote a review and it just doesn't make up for the fact that this place has thrived and grown. The menu is basically the same, the drinks are the same, the people are "not" the same, the crowd isn't the same either. The place has gotten consistently packed at nights. This has become the go to Mexican place for many people looking to satisfy their inner Chihuahua. I think their food has greatly improved since it opened. There were some big complaints back then. I wasn't even sure they were going to survive. It's good to see they overcame the early issues and have been a mainstay in Richmond Hill. The last time I was there, people were watching some boring MLS game followed up by a CFL game. Goes to show you that people are there for the food and drinks. Lots of beer in a bucket for sale. Burritos and Chimichangas are my fav. As I write up this review, I'm thinking..."Yo'Chiro'MA!" Bump up a star! Cheers!

The vibe inside is cozy and relaxed with a modern café-bistro feel. It's bright, welcoming, and definitely lives up to the name "Chillax." It feels like the kind of place you can sit and enjoy a slow brunch or a casual dinner without feeling rushed. For brunch, two dishes really stood out. The braised pork eggs Benedict was fantastic. The pork was tender and flavorful, and it paired perfectly with the creamy hollandaise and poached eggs. The gochujang fried chicken brioche burger was another highlight. The chicken was crispy with just the right amount of spice, and the soft brioche bun tied everything together. We also came back for dinner and tried the seafood paella, which was rich, comforting, and packed with seafood. It's definitely a great dish to share. For drinks, the cheesy mango ice matcha was surprisingly good. The mango adds sweetness while the cheese foam makes it creamy and indulgent. A really unique combination that works well. Prices are pretty reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, with most dishes around the $20-$30 range. Overall, it's a great spot for brunch, dinner, or just drinks. I'll definitely be coming back to try more of the menu!
