Yellowtail Jalapeno

My friend and I came in on a Saturday night around 6pm without reservations but were able to snag a table at the bar. This friend moved out of Baltimore but said this was one of her favorite places! We ordered a few things to share because everything on the menu looked so good. We started with the crispy rice with tuna, and then split the spicy tuna tataki and yellowtail jalapeño rolls. I thought all of the food was delicious, but my friend loved it so much she said she'd dream about it. Azumi is also by the waterfront and has outdoor seating which is great for when the weather is nice - it was raining when we were there though. The only thing is that all this goodness does come at a price. If you're getting sushi, things do add up pretty quickly, but the entrees seemed pretty reasonably priced for a nice restaurant

Azumi was the perfect choice for our Father's Day dinner. We were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the restaurant was. The atmosphere is elegant, stylish, and made the evening feel extra special. The menu offered plenty of vegetarian options, which my husband appreciated. He enjoyed the vegetable fried rice and vegetarian sushi, and there were several other meat-free choices available. I ordered the branzino served with spinach and mushrooms, topped with a rich, flavorful sauce, and it was absolutely delicious. The rest of our group ordered steak, and it disappeared almost as soon as it hit the table. We started with cocktails. The ladies enjoyed the lychee martinis, while the gentlemen sipped Woodford Reserve Old Fashioneds. Everything was well prepared. Our waiter was exceptional. I wish I could remember his name because he was incredibly knowledgeable, attentive, and took the time to walk us through the menu and make recommendations. From the food and drinks to the service and beautiful ambiance, Azumi exceeded our expectations. We'll definitely be back.

Loved all the food! I thought everything was seasoned perfectly. Their shrimp appetizer is a must-have. And their grilled chicken and their rolls you can't go wrong with. My partner and I enjoyed the venue as well. Its in baltimore harbor, one of the newer developments in the boardwalk. Parking is a 5-10 min walk and is not bad. No complaints about the service. Will visit again for sure.

Azumi was the perfect pre-show dinner spot before heading to see Dave Chappelle at CFG Arena. We grabbed seats at the sushi bar and had a great experience from start to finish. For drinks, I ordered an espresso martini with tequila. Our server suggested adding Baileys to the first one, and while I gave it a try, it quickly reminded me that I am firmly Team No Baileys in my espresso martinis. Thankfully, the second one was exactly how I like it. For food, we started with the house salad, yellowtail roll, and crispy rice with tuna. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. For our entrée, I had my heart set on the miso black cod, but my dining companion is a devoted branzino fan. After talking through both dishes with our server, he strongly recommended the branzino. I'll never admit this to him directly, but the server may have been right. The fish was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. One small thing to note is that we had to ask for soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger after our sushi arrived. This seems to be becoming more common at restaurants these days, and I'm guessing it's an effort to reduce waste, which I can appreciate. It wasn't a big deal at all, but if you're a sushi traditionalist like me, don't be surprised if you need to request the full set of accompaniments. One thing that really stood out was the service. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and honest when we asked about menu items. We mentioned that we were running a bit behind for our show, and he made sure our food came out quickly without making us feel rushed. The restaurant itself is stylish and upscale, though a bit smaller than some of the other waterfront restaurants nearby. There's a nice bar area, sushi bar seating, and a lively atmosphere without feeling overwhelming. They also offer valet parking. We initially assumed it was only for The Ruxton next door since that's where it was stationed, but our server later let us know it's available for Azumi guests as well. Good information for next time! Pricing felt appropriate for a waterfront sushi and seafood restaurant in Harbor East. The portions matched the price point, and we left satisfied without feeling like we overpaid. Overall, Azumi delivered great food, excellent service, and a fun atmosphere. While Baltimore has plenty of great dining options, I'd happily return if I'm back in the area and not in the mood to try somewhere new.

We came to azumi for more of a quick bite. We had the edamame and one of their specialty rolls. They were also really helpful in picking out a sake that was light and refreshing. It was a nice stop in, and will def be back to try more of their dinner food.

My wife and I's go-to Japanese spot in Baltimore. We've been coming here since it was Pabu. They had a great happy hour menu, which is every weekday between 4pm-6pm. We recently came to celebrate my birthday. Our waitress was awesome. Some of my new favorites are the truffle & avocado crispy rice, over the spicy tuna (which used to be my favorite). Our waitress informed us that the fried calamari was gluten free since they used potato starch, which was great to know for my gluten sensitive wife. I don't think it's always gf so make sure you ask, which is why it isn't starred on the menu. It was a pretty busy Wednesday night, surprisingly. Glad to see!

The absolute best vibe and the best meal!! One of those times that you wish you could give more than 5 stars!!!!! Fantastic hibachi dining experience with its own menu!!!!! The freshest, most incredible, flavorable food cooked right in front of you at your own private table/station. The chef even puts on a little show as he cooks. So much to choose from and so fun watching firsthand the whole experience. Main dining room next to the hibachi room and can order other items off the regular dining menu as well. THE MOST attentive service!!! This was my first time there and was there for a birthday, and they made it so fun and festive. And the views of the harbor were amazing!!!! A perfect evening from start to finish!!!

Azumi was the most memorable and special way to celebrate my birthday. I have been craving Hibachi and knew it would satisfy the itch. My family admittedly does love a luxe experience, especially for a birthday, and this was no different. From the branzino, to the gyoza, to the actual hibachi, the whole experience was worth it. I only wish the wine selection was better, but I will say the whole night and meal was perfect. Service was great, although it was a long night. The hibachi "flame rooms" are secluded, which was so nice for our group and the evening. However, the whole restaurant is beautiful, I need to go sit in the dining room soon. I know I will love anything I order!

Had the most incredible birthday dinner here. They are so attentive with allergies and do a wonderful birthday celebration. All of the sushi was fresh and delicious (as was my mocktail) and the service was wonderful.

Sushi here is top tier and so is the ambience. I stopped in on a busy weekday. This place was packed. My friend and I ordered everything from the tuna tartare, chirashi bowl, Toyosu nigiri platter, seared otoro and the matchamisu dessert. This was plenty of food for 2 people. We loved the quality of fish and presentation here. The otoro cuts were definitely the highlight of the evening. Seared otoro tuna with endless amounts of shaved truffle on top. Definitely save some room for dessert as the matchamisu was a take on the tiramisu. The mascarpone, mango and matcha were a great combination. The service here was great. Our servers were attentive and we enjoyed the variety of seafood, Asian fusion and even saw some hibachi items. Azumi is a great place to enjoy some cocktails, sushi or hibachi. I highly recommend booking reservations in advance. The bartender did let me know they have sushi making classes and tuna carving sessions throughout the month. I'll definitely be back to try some different cuts of fish and their sushi rolls.

We sat at the flame room and can definitely say that the service, ambiance and food were great. Food: in the flame room you had the options to order from the main room but were required to select an entree from the flame - we opted for the land and sea option for 2 ($130) and went with the scallops and lamb chops. Both were cooked to absolute perfection. - the meal comes with 3 sauces: garlic, yum yum and a hot chili. Each paired well with the meal. - sides: seaweed salad, miso tofo soup and dessert. Drinks: super unique cocktails. I got a clarified milk punch cocktail which was our favorite. Their sake options are also really good and would highly recommend asking the staff for their favorites.

The restaurant was a bit dark inside so we opted to sit outside which is a lot nicer. We got the spicy rock shrimp, sautéed mushrooms, spider roll, crunchy tuna toro roll, premium California roll, & chicken thigh appetizer. I think my favorites were probably just the rock shrimp & spider roll despite the first one being a bit too salty. The others were just ok to me. Everything was either too salty or too bland. The mushrooms had way too much butter and it didn't really taste like anything besides that. Not sure if I'd go again but it was nice to be by the water.

Nice surprise. We drove from VA to try a new place, so glad we did. All of our food items were delicious. Forgot to take a picture of our extreme sushi platter. It had sparkle stick so very grand entrance to our table. Each piece was just melted in your mouth. Waitress was very friendly and explained our dishes. Servers were very attentive as well. Restaurant was pretty busy for a cold evening. Since it was so cold, we could feel the wind come in from our table. Would we go back, YES. Food and service was worth the drive.

Ask the Community - Azumi

Is there a kids menu?

No kids menu, but there were plenty of families with kids being served. Restaurant is very loud, so I don’t even think a crying baby would bother anyone.

Any vegan options?

Yes! There are several vegan sushi and tempura options. Be aware that the dipping sauce for tempura is made with bonito (fish) shavings for flavor. They used to have a rather good roasted eggplant with miso. I don't see it on the menu but you can…

When do they serve Sawagani crabs? Menu says they're seasonal.

This place was luckily right nearby with good reviews, but since it was a bit too late to eat indoors as they were cleaning up, I ordered my food to go. The woman in front seemed friendly based on the brief interaction I had with her. I went with the $22.95 Grilled Roll Combo, which included grilled tuna, salmon, and yellowtail rolls. All of this came with a pretty large container of miso soup that was better than your typical store-bought version, as it had a better depth of flavor. There was a bit less tofu than at some other places, but perhaps I just got an uneven batch. The meal came with 24 pieces in total, which was a bit shocking to my NYC brain. The various fish had different flavors and nice grill marks, with my favorites being the tuna and yellowtail, as expected. The rice was a little bit soft, but this was to be expected as there was sauce on it and it had traveled, so I am not blaming them. Outside of the rolls, there was some wasabi and some gari/sushi ginger. It was a nice and satisfying meal. Overall, it was a good deal. I can see why this place has been open for years from this dish alone. I would go again if I were back in Baltimore for a game or something and would recommend others check it out.

Between my order being wrong, missing items, items replaced with whatever they feel like, to order never making it to me, or being "stolen" (of course last two reasons are fault of delivery) I just gave up. I switched to ordering from Ra Sushi, but then found out both places share the same kitchen. Beni is just Togo only.... Needless to say my review for Ra Sushi is just as bad. Advice, don't order from either places.

I have been a Benihana…read morecustomer for many years but there is not an eat-in location within 30 minutes of where I live now so I was excited when I found I could order one of my favorite meals through RA Sushi. However, I was extremely disappointed with my order. First of all, I ordered 2 speciality entrees (Rocky's Choice and Benihana Delight). Both should have come with both soup and salad, however, only 1 soup was included in my delivery. Furthermore, the soup we were given was miso soup and not Benihana Onion soup. Neither myself or my husband enjoy miso soup so we did not eat the soup we were given. Both entrees came with chicken fried rice even though they were ordered with white rice. I understand the fried rice is an upgrade and may be considered 'better' but I very much prefer the white rice and was disappointed with this substitution. Furthermore, the fried rice was undercooked. The vegetables were extremely crunchy and the rice was dry. Finally, we had ordered several sauces and paid for these sauces. I had ordered 2 ginger sauces, 2 mustard sauces, and 1 yum yum sauce. When our ordered arrived we were only given 1 sauce (1 yum yum) and not the total of 5 that were ordered and paid for. Overall, my order was nothing like I expected it to be after eating at Benihana for over 20 years. The food was dry and missing several components that were ordered. This disappointment was compounded by the fact that since we ordered 2 speciality entrees the total was over $100 (not including delivery fees). For this price point, nothing should be missing and the food should be prepared as expected. The delivery option is the same price as dine-in which is absurd seeming as when you dine in person the food is fresher and you are also provided entertainment. If you are only serving take-out and delivery for Benihana and charging the same as dine-in the food must be top notch. I was okay paying the same as dine-in until my food was delivered and did not meet the bare minimum standards. I understand that Benihana-Baltimore food is prepared by RA Sushi and not a typical Benihana location. However, if RA cannot provide the food items and cannot prepare the food as expected, it should not even be an option to order from this location.
