This is such a great place for families. We have been here a number of times and each time we have had a good experience. The wait staff is so accommodating. The food was really good. We dined in during their Happy Hour. Ordered the edamame and fried calamari. Also had the Baltimore roll, Lobster Dragon roll and salmon avocado roll. The only thing we didn't really like was the fried calamari, the batter on it was too thick and wasn't appetizing. To drink, we had the Tokyo Tea and Kabuto Peach. Both drinks were good and had a good amount of alcohol in each. We ordered the shrimp teriyaki fried rice to go and the NY cheesecake. I don't think they know what NY cheesecake is. NY cheesecake is plain cheesecake, with maybe only a strawberry on the side. I'm not sure what I got, maybe cheesecake with chocolate syrup (I haven't tried it yet). I would return. Also, please note, they automatically charge an 18% gratuity to all bills, which is posted all over the place but my husband somehow seemed to still miss and severely over-tipped since it wasn't mentioned by the cashier. Celebrated my brother's birthday, and my first time here at Kabuto, 2nd time at a Japanese steakhouse. The food was excellent! No complaints there. My total was $48 with automatic 18% gratuity for the duo combo of chicken and shrimp with noodles, vegetables, a salad, mushroom soup and fried rice. Portions were huge! I def have leftovers now for possibly another 2 days. I also got the Baltimore roll as well. Pricing was reasonable, $32 for the duo protein option. I have only been here once with a large work party, but I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the experience. The chefs and servers had excellent service. They brought everything promptly and served everything accurately, being mindful of all allergies and preferences as well. Fried rice and lo mein were very flavorful. The filet mignon was cooked, medium rare for me as I requested and was delicious. The scallions and shrimp were cooked very very well and super flavorful with lemon and butter. The vegetables were also delicious. The portions were large and the accompanying Yum Yum sauce and ginger sauce were great. I had the mango martini and it was a little bit too strong for me and not my favorite but they do have happy hour. I have not tried their sushi so that is not factored into my rating. When you walk in you'll decide if you want to get hibachi or not, and go from there. We didn't, but from the cheers from the hibachi grill, it seems like a great time! Made Valentines reservations for the dining room and received a confirmation the day before. We show up after driving 30 minutes and they try to sit us at hibachi. We show them the reservation confirm and they say they only have hibachi and the bar available. Manager comes out and says he'll seat us soon, then we don't hear anything for 30 minutes. On May 3rd, my family visited the restaurant "Kebuto" in Parkville. The food was wonderful--the chef is truly an artist. The service, however, was abysmal. Our waitress, named Lala, served us with a completely blank expression and, furthermore, failed to mention the full range of beverages available. Later--when we noticed that patrons at other tables were being offered alcoholic drinks--we asked her why we hadn't been offered any alcohol; she replied that she simply assumed we didn't want any. The only thing she did during our entire visit was silently refill our Pepsi glasses. My family does not believe that this waitress deserves any tip whatsoever for the service she provided us. read more

Kabuto is a new Japanese restaurant that has taken over the Bill Bateman's old spot. The decor is beautiful upon entry. The hibachi is placed on the left side of the restaurant, and the dine-in and sushi bar is located on the right. The host helped us to make a decision on which side to sit on. He advised that the wait for the hibachi was about 30 minutes, and the other side, there was no wait at all. We were escorted to the seating area and was quickly greeted by our server. He was fast and efficient with service. I ordered the Emporer's Feast (Filet Mignon, Shrimp, and Scallops) and hubby had the Hibachi Combo (Steak and Scallops), which was served with mushroom soup, house salad, hibachi noodles, shrimp appetizer, hibachi vegetables, and choice of fried or white rice, we both had the fried rice. The food was brought thoughtfully. We were able to dine with ease and not be rushed between the soup or salad. Once the main course was served, I was a little disappointed. The hibachi vegetables were cold, as if they were pre-cooked and refrigerated and then heated up. I guess we should've waited longer for hot fresh vegetables. The scallops were a tad salty, but I managed by dipping them into the sauce. Overall, the food was flavorful, but I could not overlook the cold vegetables when e everything else was served hot. If we should return, we just ask that the cook please check the vegetables and make sure they are hot. read more

On 9/24/25, Myself and 15 coworkers had a 12pm reservation. The full party arrived around 12:10pm. We were seated. No.1 [[HIGHLIGHT]]the floor was very slippery so we had to assist a few older coworkers[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], No. 2 there was another group that arrived after us and as we sat waiting for more than 15mins they were brought water but we weren't even offered water. One coworker who is also a regular at your establishment called the manager over to ask why we had not been offered any water. No. 3, The menu's were placed down but no one was asked if they had been there before. However, because myself and my coworker have been here a few times we decided to ask for the lunch menu for our older coworkers who can not eat a lot. This should have been offered as it was lunchtime. After finally receiving a lunch menu we were finally able to order. By that time it was 1pm. The waitress never asked if we wanted any drinks. I had to get up from our station to go find the waitress on the other side of the restaurant waiting someone else to ask for a tea. That is really unacceptable. The cook was told to keep the salmon separate from the shrimp due to seafood allergy and that didn't happen which I spoke up about. So my coworker had to wait for him to cook another salmon in the back. Which held her up from eating with the rest of us. We did not end up leaving until after 2pm. I have been to many hibachi restaurants including this one and have never experienced this bad of service. I emailed the manager the next day and a month later still haven't heard an apology. read more

Really nice decor. They nailed the Japanese garden vibe in the front area, though I'd like to see more than the lone koi...he seems lonely! The rest of the restaurant has different vibes. A lot of street food and restaurant photos from Japan make up the wallpaper of Kabuto. It looks right. HAPPY HOUR $3 SAKE IS A NICE TOUCH. I had their chicken teriyaki and some unagi. Both were pleasing. The teriyaki had a slightly different flavor than I'm used to, but I actually loved the change. Service was good - staff was friendly, communicative, and fast. First of all we had a large party because it was a going away dinner for my nephew who's leaving for the Navy. So I guess I can cut them some slack. Maybe not. Our dinner was supposed to be from 5-7. Upon arrival the interior decorations were very nice and the layout of the restaurant was done well. The host was nice and the servers were ok. We had a full table and we loved our hibachi cook. He kept us entertained and was funny. We had a good time overall and the food was good. My only complaint is that the Lo mein is not really Lo mein, WARNING: THEY SERVE YOU SPAGHETTI PASTA COOKED WITH TERIYAKI AND KETCHUP and call it hibachi noodles lol. I felt scammed on that, I've never been to a hibachi spot and they not do Lo mein with egg noodles, so I had to mention that smh. I went to Kabuto with my family to celebrate my daughter's birthday . I found the decor appealing and the restaurant clean and pleasant. We were still in the time of the "soft opening" so I am keeping that in mind. Service was adequate though not very engaging. The waitress needs to be more attentive and more personally engaging. We experienced a couple of small misses not worth mentioning. Our party of 5 was seated within fifteen minutes and combined with a nice family of four strangers. I think it's a bit of a gamble with seating since you have no control over who you may be joining. I love meeting new people but sometimes things can go south quickly. The quality of food is good. I had a $10 appetizer, Sashimi Martini, which was okay. It consists of six pieces of raw fish with ginger and wasabi. It had two pieces each of tuna, salmon, and I think halibut. I was satisfied with the value and quality of the appetizer. I was also satisfied with the quality and flavor of the steak hibachi dish. I would have ordered shrimp but it was previously frozen and I can get that anywhere. My wife ordered the chicken and she was satisfied. All five of us took a box of food home. About the boxes of leftovers, I felt like the waitress was trying to hurry us out of the restaurant to turn the table for another party. I was actually quite annoyed and told someone who looked like a manager even though he said that no manager was on duty. I didn't get the opportunity to finish my expensive meal while enjoying the environment the company created. I will finish it up as a microwaved leftover lunch. Lastly, when I was reviewing the check and signing the credit card authorization, I noticed a place to leave "EXTRA TIP". Oh my, that means that they already included the tip on my bill for a party of five. My experience is that parties of six and over have gratuities automatically billed. Bad move, the got 20% when I was going to be generous and give them 30+%. Bottom line: I recommend trying this restaurant but I can't see myself becoming a regular here...3 star chain restaurant... read more

Upon entering Kabuto one thing you'll instantly notice is that this is no longer Bill Batemans Amy longer. Extensive renovations have made the former Batemans unrecognizable. The deco is soft, contemporary and beautiful. The Service is harried and at times forgetful. The menu offers Hibachi cooking and a Sushi Bar sides. The Tepanyaki cooking is wonderful and the Hibachi Chefs are quick, talented and personable. We had Steak, Chicken and Shrimp all cooked Teppanyaki Style on the grill at our table. It is fun to watch these Chefs do their tricks. All in all the quality is outstanding. Definitely worth a second look. read more
