I was referred here from my regular optometrist in hopes I may get help with my issue. It has been over a year that I have been waiting for all the kinks to work out. Finally, I am here and waiting to be seen. After strolling thru my phone , people watching , got anixous. Theresa I heard my named called I was quickly seated. In walks in the Doctor, Doctor Choi he was very through with my exam and explained that in my situation I will need to see Oculoplastics. I am very grateful to have been seen by Doctor Choi and his staff.

This office does work during this crazy times and takes all the precautions in order for everyone to stay safe and healthy. Before entering, you knock and wait for them to open the door. Once in, they will have you do the paperwork and wait for few minutes to be taken in for your exam. Nurse Elena is so friendly and helpful. Our exam nurse Raul is a delight. He is very helpful and caring, makes you less nervous about the eye dilating procedure and leaves you feeling all positive and well. Dr. Duan is very professional, knowledgeable and humble. Answers all the questions you might have, explains everything that you need to know very thoroughly. Highly recommend them, meeting caring medical staff nowadays is just refreshing and makes you feel that you matter. Excellent care.

I called the office six times before finally reaching a live person. When I requested not to be put on hold, I was placed on hold regardless. After the individual returned to the line, I asked why, and her reply was, "What do you want, I am busy." I pointed out her rudeness, and she promptly hung up on me. My subsequent calls went unanswered. When I called later in the day, someone picked up the phone, but it seemed to be an accidental pickup, as I could hear an unrelated conversation between the receptionist and a patient, which I found odd. I have been a patient at this office for over 30 years and have never experienced any issues until now. However, I have concluded that the current frontline employees are incapable of providing professional service or even basic politeness, so I will be seeking care from a new eye provider. I attempted to call the office to speak with the office manager to request that my medical records be sent to another medical professional. I was informed the office manager was unavailable and that someone named Helen would contact me regarding my records; however, I have still received no communication from the office.

Haroutun Hovanesian,MD - This is not a normal reaction after every appointment ... yet, it's always the case as no one checks his file for previous reaction.

The…read morefirst one, for cataracts; the second one a vitrectomy to repair a macular hole, both on the same left eye. I felt compelled to write to you about this doctor and his professional skills. Having surgery on my eyes was something I never imagined having to do, and I was very afraid of any such surgery. You can imagine how I felt when I found out I needed to have two surgeries. However, Dr. Hovanesian made me feel safe and secure immediately. Of course, meeting the doctor and feeling this way does not necessarily translate into having a good surgery experience. Fortunately for me, that feeling was again felt when I had the cataract surgery and I sensed him in control and totally knowing what he was doing. That surgery went without a hitch, as did the recuperation. For the second surgery, 15 days later, I was a little more apprehensive because I knew it lasted much longer and I had difficulty getting sedated for the first one. Again, Dr. Hovanesian made me feel at ease and he spoke with the anesthesiologist about the need to make me feel comfortable. Surprisingly, that surgery was even easier than the first, as my sedation worked better than expected. Dr. Hovanesian gave me clear instructions about positioning and cautions, and at the one month evaluation, we were both elated that the hole had closed! I have every expectation that I will get good vision results as I'm already experiencing some of that as the gas bubble in my eye recedes. Dr. Hovanesian also has excellent bedside manners. I felt he really cared about his patients and is very compassionate. He also knows how to control people like me, who can be quite pushy at times! As if all of the foregoing were not enough, I interacted with his staff at three of his offices: Sherman Oaks, Glendale and Hollywood, and everyone was professional, courteous and friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Hovanesian to anyone, and have already done so to my friends in California.

Since 2019 I have been having vision issues, and Dr. Chan took good care of my process for cataract…read moresurgery this year. Dr. Chan took the time to listen to my concerns and made sure that the upcoming surgeries lead to improving my vision. His goal was for me to drive without glasses, and that means very, very good vision, if not perfect. The 1st surgery was in mid May, 2022, and I went back to see Dr. Chan to make sure everything went as planned. The 2nd surgery was in early June, 2022, and so far I can read as perfectly as anyone with excellent vision. Either day or night, driving has become so much easier now that I can see so well. Dr. Chan suggested getting reading glasses, and other recommendations to deal with my dry eyes. I would say Dr. Chan was the right doctor for me, at the right time. Of course I'll write a review for the surgeon as well.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Dr. Ghazaryan…read more I scheduled an optometry appointment, arranged my day around it, and left my 88-year-old mother alone so I could attend. Only upon checking in was I informed of a prescription fee that had never been disclosed when the appointment was scheduled. Had I been informed of this fee when the appointment was scheduled, I could have planned accordingly. I explained that I was not refusing to pay the fee. Since I had already taken the time to come to the appointment, I respectfully asked whether the exam could proceed and would pay the prescription will pick up during my ophthalmologist appointment in a few weeks. The front desk initially indicated this might be possible. After completing the vision testing, the assistant informed me that she needed to speak with the doctor. Dr. Ghazaryan then entered the room without introducing herself or greeting me and immediately focused on the payment issue. Rather than listening to my concern regarding the lack of fee disclosure and the inconvenience it caused, her demeanor became increasingly confrontational. The disbelief I felt at the doctor's reaction is difficult to overstate. I was not refusing to pay the fee; I was simply explaining the circumstances and asking for consideration after being surprised with an undisclosed charge. To be met with such visible irritation, an elevated tone, and a refusal to continue the visit was disappointing to witness from a physician entrusted with patient care. When I attempted to explain my situation, I felt interrupted, dismissed, and rushed. Dr. Ghazaryan stated that she had other patients waiting and ultimately refused to continue the appointment. The interaction escalated unnecessarily, and I found her tone and conduct unprofessional. She then left the room in a manner that drew attention from others nearby, which was both embarrassing and upsetting. My concern is not the $50 fee itself. Medical offices have every right to charge fees and enforce their policies. My concern is that patients should be informed of those fees before they arrive for an appointment. Unexpected charges presented at check-in leave patients with no opportunity to plan financially or make an informed decision beforehand. Following the incident, I contacted the patient service call center to report my concerns because I believe both the lack of transparency regarding fees and the manner in which I was treated warrant review. Patients deserve clear communication, advance disclosure of charges, professionalism, and respect. Unfortunately, that was not my experience during this visit. What should have been a routine eye appointment became an unnecessarily stressful and confrontational encounter that left me feeling that my time, circumstances, and concerns as a patient were given little consideration.
