Came here for a treat for a friend's birthday. We sampled a bunch of different treats. Everything was solid, though nothing blew me away as being special. They do have some in-store seating, and some savory options so you can make a small meal of it. read more

I have no issues paying more for a local bakery because time isn't cheap. I got 3 different cakes and a cheesecake for snacks on my older ones 18th birthday while she was getting big inked a few doors down. Everything was rich and delicious but not necessarily to my taste. Most people don't complain a cake is too rich. A glass of milk would have been perfect with the cakes. Staff was friendly. Place was plain which again, it's a bad thing. They do same sex couple cakes as there was a couple tasting cakes for their upcoming nuptials. I don't know what those prices are either as it's probably based on complexity. read more

Caramel layered cake with a whipped cream frosting! Such a delicious and wonderful surprise! My boyfriend got me this cake for my birthday. It came with a cake server! It was so moist and delicious! Would absolutely order a cake from here again. I ordered my dads Christmas-Birthday cake from Azucar. It was a coconut cake with Bavarian cream filling. Super delicious, the cake was moist and not too dense, the cream filling was so tasty. The cake was super reasonably priced, I would have spent the same amount on a cake from Whole Foods. Can't wait to order more cakes from them again. read more

Our cake was rushed and missing pieces we specifically asked for. We asked for a Spider-Man cake with webs (Inspiration photo included and was a simple design) Webs were clearly rushed and don't even line up in the center, the white web on the right side is very messy and poorly done. Visually the cake looks terrible. I asked the nice woman why we were missing certain pieces on the cake and why it didn't line up but she seemed "uncaring" about the cosmetic of the cake. I'd also like to include we had the cake scheduled for pick up at 12, they pushed it to 1:00pm, then made us wait until 1:30on at the store for the cake just for it to look bad and have missing pieces. We paid too much money for a custom cake that they didn't care to do correctly, so unfortunately I will not be recommending this place nor going back for another cake. read more

We were on our way to fifty two 80s when we saw the sign that westworld rated them the best bakery in denver in 2015, so of course we had to stop in! We had the bavarian cream mini chocolate dipped cake. My husband called it a ding ding on steroids- moist chocolate cake, sweet bavarian cream, and this super crispy ganache shell on the exterior. It was a little pricey, but super rich and perfect to share. Next time I go in I'll branch out and go for something peruvian, like an empanada. read more

Everything about this place is perfection! The employees go above and beyond! I needed a cake last minute and with their busy schedule they were able to fit in another cake. The receptionist I think who I talked to first was so kind and the baker was very accommodating to our needs! Will definitely keep ordering cakes from Azucar again! Oh my, what delicious pie!!! We ordered 4 pies for a large family Thanksgiving feast. The pies were amazing. My favorite was the rhubarb strawberry, almost everyone else elected the apple crumb as the best of all time, the pumpkin was rich and so delicious and the peanut butter chocolate pie was ridiculously decadent and Grandma Bette loved it! The homemade crust was amazing and I do not think we will enjoy another holiday without Azucar's fabulous pies! Run don't walk for these treats. read more

My roommate gave me a list of bakeries that we're available for pickup and/or delivery so as long as we are quarantined, I am going go to down that list so this just happened to be the first one on the list. Number one because it starts with the letter A, but so far number one in my heart from what I've tasted from their baked goods. They have a lot of different kind of stuff, and their specialty is Peruvian sweets, so we grabbed some alfajors. I'm not too familiar with those, so I just grabbed the most aesthetically looking one and when I gave them to my roommate, she was shocked at how ginormous their portions are, so I guess they pull through with their advertisement! We also got one of each flavor of empanadas and all of them were equally delicious. We also had some aesthetically pleasing carrot cake that even taste as good as it looks (even tho it looked too good to eat at first, but luckily I have no self restraint when it comes to carrot cakes so I gobbled it up in one sitting), and my boyfriend really loved the confetti cake. The owner is also extremely kind, it made the visit a very special and happy visit! I wish I took pictures of all the goods but they were gobbled up so fast it slipped my sugary mind. read more

I ordered a birthday cake for my long distance boyfriend and it came out amazing! I wanted something small, just 1-3 servings and they were able to make a "1st birthday smash cake" for me. They were super quick in responding and made sure everything was perfect, even down to the color of the buttercream. They sent me an itemized list to show me how much everything would cost, which was super nice. The cake came out to be so cute and my boyfriend loved it! BEAUTIFUL DESIGNS, HELPFUL SERVERS, AMAZING AND UNIQUE FLAVORS!!! We want med to order a cake for baby shower. A friend of ours recommended this bakery. Since there were so many flavors that we haven't tried we went on Sunday so we could take advantage of free tasting they offer from 1 to 3pm. We tried carrot cake flavor, guava with cream cheese filling and vanilla with confetti fillingAnd traditional chocolate cake. It was needless to say that all the flavors were exceptional. Once we decided on flavor which was cool with cream cheese filling we wanted to discuss the design parameters the server the counter was very helpful she worked with us in our budget to make the perfect cake for us. For custom cakes they usually take order seven days before. But we had some color changes three days before the event and they accommodated those changes. The cake turned out both beautiful and delicious:) I would highly reccomend checking out this place! read more

The worker Clarke was so disrespectful to customers. We went in to order a cake for an event and when we got there it was as if we were a burden to be helped even though we were the only ones there at that moment. When we were helped we were talked to in a rude manner and rushed even though we talk to her for about 5 minutes. In the end she questioned if we would be able to cover the cost of a 100 dollar cake that looked unprofessionally made. I was confused why that was even a question if our intention was to order a cake. Please DO NOT GO HERE! Also Clarke, is rude if I forgot to mention that. Please go somewhere people would actually care to make your cake. read more

A COMPLETE JOKE! Paid over 200 bucks for this PIECE OF SHIT! This thing bears NO RESEMBLANCE to MY ORIGINAL DESIGN. In my first few emails I clearly mentioned a slope made of birdie and a small snowboarder going down it. See what I got: a large figure of a snowboarder standing there and a wrecked birdie by itself. THEY HAVE COMPLETELY MISSED ALL THE KEY POINTS IN MY DESIGN! I cannot believe I paid 200 bucks just for this piece of shit, after all the confirmation and discussion. James and his team did a great job on our wedding cake! From the tasting session, to deliver and execution everything was amazing. We picked the Bavarian cream marble tiered cake with a semi naked frosting, as well as chocolate chip cookies, lemon bars, and brownie bites for our guests. James was super flexible with the additional treats - just ask he can probably make it for you! He's a great baker and we loved supporting this small business for our wedding. Azucar Bakery Great bakery on South Broadway! I recently picked up a 6" , 3-layer round for Bob's birthday. Custom orders must be made at least 7 days in advance, but I was lucky enough to find a chocolate "to go" cake. I didn't have a choice about the white frosting, but they were able to add a few words on top with rainbow sprinkles. It tasted amazing! The buttercream frosting, chocolate cake, and chocolate mousse filling were all decadent! It also cost half the price as those sold at dbar. Azucar recently won an award for one of the best wedding cake bakeries in Denver, and Peruvian desserts are another of their specialties, hence the Spanish name. read more

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. We had placed an order 2 weeks in advance for my son's 4th birthday party, and they informed us the week of the party all was set to get the cake picked up on the day of the party. 1 day before the party they sent an email and they couldn't do the cake anymore , and denied ever saying the cake would be ready in time. We were stuck having to make our own cake the night before the party. They seemed to not even care about the issue, saying they had lots of orders to get done. Do not risk ordering from here if you want to have your cake on time for your event, buyer beware. read more

Both were flawless and delicious! I am a home baker from a multigenerational history of bakers and I am very very picky about bakery cakes. Usually I find them dull, stuff and dry. This review is long over due but here goes. We waited until the last minute to order a cake for my daughter's 3rd bday party. Don't do that. Azucar Bakery was able to put something together, using a cake graphic we bought off Amazon. They added borders and yummy chocolate shells. It was beautiful and my daughter loved it. The best part was that people raved about how delicious it was for days after. Cake won the party. We ordered the Funfetti with cream cheese but we can't wait to try other flavors! We will be repeat customers for sure, but promise not to wait until the last minute to order again. read more

Azucar was incredible. My wife and I were looking for a bakery that was easy to work with, affordable and most importantly made really really delicious cake. We loved the tasting and actually went with one of the flavors they surprised us with. We ended up getting a 6" round cake for cutting (strawberry with strawberry filling) and two quarter sheet cakes (coconut walnut with dulce de leche filling OMG, and chocolate with chocolate ganache) and everything was so so so good. My wife and I ordered a three-tiered Thomas and Friends themed cake for our son's 2nd birthday from Azucar. We brought in a photo of how we wanted it to look and the staff were very keen to help and we thought their estimate was quite reasonable compared to other bakeries, in fact it was a downright bargain! The finished product was delivered on time and looked amazing. The details were fantastic and we loved everything about it! I've been here once, but I definitely plan on going back. They recently moved to this South Broadway location. I had driven past it many times, as the pink paint color and huge cakes in the window always catch my eye. I stopped in, in March to get a few treats-I bought a tart for myself, a box of chocolates to give as a birthday present, and a cookie for my mom. The tart was out of this world! Inside the bakery, it is very clean and would be a fun place to catch up for a coffee or tea, girls date or reserve a table for a small party. Generously sized pecan sandies, that crumble just as you want them to. Effort was put into the atmosphere, and you wouldn't realize there is so much flour and sugar in the air, because the place is clean. So I also ordered an iced matcha latte unsweetened (LOVE that their matcha is quality and not pre-sweetened mix) with a toasted marshmallow cold foam. All I can say is that if you're going to the Starbucks across the street, do yourself a favor and come here instead. My drink was perfectly made and I got to support a local shop. In addition to my cake slice and matcha, I also couldn't resist getting a jumbo pumpkin chocolate chip cookie. It was moist, absolutely massive, and had a great balance of the pumpkin and dark chocolate, which is my fave. No over the top sugary sweet taste, just a well-balanced fall treat. Now, the spring fling cake I'm sure you've been waiting to hear about: Divine! And hot dang, are those slices massive! You are getting every penny worth of money you spend here. It blew my mind that for all three items I got, my total was $20. The cake slice was so big, in my opinion one slice could easily be split between three people. It'll likely take me and my husband a solid couple days to make our way through it. And once again, the flavor was balanced with fresh fruit, a nice tart cream cheese tasting frosting, and not the kind of sugary cake that will give you an instant sugar headache.
