The salsa was very mild and had a great flavor. I ordered a 2 taco combo plate ($14.95) with carne asada and carnitas. The carne asada was just okay, it was cut into thicker piece, which is not my preference. It was also topped with guacamole, which was not the best I've had. The carnitas however were magnificent topped with pickled onions, cilantro, and salsa. The rice was not traditional Mexican rice and did have a bit of a crunch to it rather than a toast before cooking. The beans were just plain pinto beans, not refried beans, but they were good. Walking in we were blown away by the awesome Halloween decorations located throughout the restaurant....from werewolves, to ghost pups to a Pirates Caribbean attraction in the middle of the restaurant! Say What!!! And I haven't even gotten to the excellent service and muy delicious food yet... After experiencing the liking of the coolest haunted house on the block, we were welcomed in like family by the lovely hostess, Taytum, who walked us to our booth.... With a quick glance at the menu (truthfully, everything on the menu is "Excellente"), we were greeted by the beautiful server, Briana, and a master server, Beto... Beto's humor, experience and knowledgeable put us at ease, knowing we were definitely going to have a great lunch experience! My better half had the lunch special, an incredible amount of delicious Mexican cuisine, including a non-alcoholic drink, all for an incredible price! I had the Burrito Al Pastor, deluxe or "wet" style if you will, topped with their homemade tomatillo sauce....Unbelievably tasty and such a big portion, I took the rest home for dinner... Thanks to Beto and Briana, our drinks were never empty..(I didn't know I could hold 5 ice teas ;) The food was simply scrumptious and flavorful... Did I mention yet another plus to The Mexico Cafe? It's family owned and operated since 1951 (their San Bernardino location) I had the honor this visit to speak to one of the owner's family members, he was humble and thankful as I complimented the restaurant... I've seen him before pitching in bussing tables and serving food....The family is still very actively involved, and that part of why this restaurant is such a long standing success... The ultra-cool atmosphere, sensational service and yummy (don't tell the fellas I used that term ;) food make The Mexico Cafe a 5-Star experience!! Highly Recommend! Support small businesses If your chillin at nearby Pechanga Casino, or even within an hours drive of this place you must go... First off I/we really dug this place 2 yrs ago. Recently went back and boom totally different from what we enjoyed , turned to a shit hole! Customer service? Total crap. Rude employees, too expensive,up charges like crazy.they used to make your food with love and not weak. Well now it's like going to subway! If ya know what I mean skimped to the max! Service of the bar to get a beer . Totally ignored. Not to mention when I approached I turned to an employee that was highly unapproachable sipping on her monster sitting at the bar to ask if I can get service. She seemed like she hated life and me! She told me I have to wait till someone was available. After 20 mins. A young dude served me with a meaning he wanted to actually do his job. Thanks buddy! But after observing watching the young lady that didn't have time for me sitting on her break was approached by her friend for cocktails. She had no problem getting off her tired butt /maybe the monster kicked in? and serving her companions. Not bringing race in but honestly wtf! Money is money !!! Service is shit and this place has gotten over crowded and the food is not what it used to be! Hopefully they rid off the millennial waste employees and make it bomb again! read more

My problem is not with the food or service. It's with whatever is going on behind closed doors. My very good friend is an employee there, and has been for a long time. Sadly, she is being SEXUALLY HARASSED from the self-proclaimed manager and son of the owner, who I believe goes by the name Alonso. He has repeatedly made SEXUAL ADVANCES towards her, and threatened her job. She's extremely frightened, as she has no idea if the next day will be her last. We're currently in a pandemic! No one can afford to lose their jobs right now! She's attempted to go to the police, but they claim no crime has actually occurred. Even human resources claims she has to hire a lawyer, to further handle the situation. Again, we're in a pandemic! Who can afford an attorney? None want to do a pro bono case like this one. I am no longer welcomed in the establishment, because I confronted the antagonist. To whom it may concern: Next time you want to write a review on how great this place is. Think about those who are being HARASSED, before you continue to show your support! read more

I'd rate a zero if possible! RUDE STAFF! Specifically the African American twerp with the braids. Derogatory comments with attitude and laughter, trying to egg on an argument. Customers don't need coaching on how to wear a mask, nor do they need their food to be held hostage. I understand your predicament to abide by mandates to stay open. Out of respect for your situation I had one on, just not to his liking. He's got a chip on his shoulder!! My family and I have been frequenting Aztec for 10 years.
