I come here to EAT! This place is great.... I never even think about rubios now that Aztec is here in the fine town of t mec. My wife, who is prone to diarrhea due to a case of undiagnosed IBS has yet to feel sick from Aztec. I however suffer from IBS and am unaffected by Aztec as well which is amazing. The workers are all friendly and give you great service. The owner is very nice as well! Do yourself a favor and get something with their chicken. Its amazing. Also the special sauce called house sauce. I would lick that sauce off of just about any type of food. Its amazing and I wish they sold it in a tube or bottle. On the flip side, this would be a pretty good if they up and moved to Northern Canada. The al pastor was the most bland al pastor I've ever had. Dry with a slightly disturbing sweet sauce. Chunks too large to eat in one bite. Just plain wrong. For $4 I expected more than food processor guacamole served in a styrofoam cup. Tamales were good, they recovered a star on the tamale. Hands down the best taco joint I've found in town!!! From start to finish they do things right: friendly customer service, free chips with an outstanding fresh made salsa bar, cool 1000 flavor Coke machine and amazing food. They have several unique items like the quesataco and that taco sandwich thing. All the meats are delicious, I especially enjoy the el pastore!!! There is no great Mexican Food in Temecula and this place is no exception. The beans are lack luster, the quality of the meat is getting worse with each visit. I've been here a few times and have never written a review. This place is delicious and never disappoints! Not only do you get your food but you get chips and they have a fancy Coca-Cola machine. After seeing the yelp reviews, we decided to check this place out. Our food was good, everything was clean, and the service was excellent. We got the quesaburrito and the steak and shrimp burrito. They were not as big as they looked in the reviews. I specifically ordered the quesaburrito because of the pictures I saw on here. We were too busy with my toddler and infant to take pictures. My quesaburrito was piping hot and it was good, but after tasting the flavorful skirt steak in my husband's burrito, I was kicking myself for making the wrong choice lol. I saw other people with huge burritos so There may be an inconsistency with the size of the burritos. The salsas were some of the best I've had at a restaurant. Usually, restaurant salsa tastes like watery tomatoes but the salsa here was nice and spicy. I poured salsa on every bite! Despite our good experience, we weren't really impressed by the meal, and $18 for two burritos isn't a good deal to us. We're in no rush to go back. read more

Oh my goodness! We got 2 burritos. One California burrito and one steak and shrimp burrito. We added cabbage and onions to the steak and shrimp burritos and my oh my it was soooooo delicious! I love that Aztek has a salsa bar! Major kudos. However the employees didn't even offer my friend chips (it was out first time, how would we know to ask for them?) I went out on a limb and asked inside the salsa bar was open for any customers. I thought the carne carne fries were pretty good. The fries weren't too squishy. The portion was small considering the amount usually given from other restaurants. There definitely was not enough sour cream or guacamole on the fries. By the last 1/3 of the fries, we were left with fries and maybe a small amount of guac, cheese or sour cream. read more

Actually, the salmon was excellent but the rest of the salad was just so-so. There was really little more than lettice and not nearly enough dressing. Still, the rub that they used on the fish was some of the best I've had. More dressing and a little something besides lettice would have made it a great salad. It's a nice clean place and a nice spot to pick up some good, not great Mexican fast food. If you're looking for a healthy meal though, look somewhere else. read more

6 months ago, I would have given Aztek Tacos a 4 star, maaaybe 5 review. But that was then, and this is now. I used to frequent this establishment quite often when I worked nearby, and haven't been there in ~4 months until yesterday. Yesterday I went in with my old favorite (California Burrito) in mind, along with some other orders for our group of 5. Everything came out good, but less of a quality than before, which was sad. Now, to clarify, this is still a MUCH MUCH MUCH better Mexican food restaurant than others around the country/world, but in So. Cal, there is lots of good competition, and the taste of the food I had last night was just average. A crying shame, because not many places put Guac / Sour Cream into the California burrito like Aztek does... But last night even that was cheaply done and sloppy. Their chips felt a bit stale, and the meat in our shared Asada Nachos was pretty over-cooked. Man, I'm disappointed. Other than the food though, the atmosphere is regular So. Cal. Mexican, and the service is a bunch of kids with a few supervising adults. It worked before, but has since gotten sloppy. Awe well. I'll give it a try in another few months maybe. read more

You order at the counter, they give you a table number so that you can get seated, and then they bring you your food. I had ordered the steak and shrimp burrito. This was absolutely AMAZING. The meat wasn't dry and the shrimps were perfect. I was also recommended by a friend to try asada fries! These were so good, unfortunately I was so full from my burrito I couldn't eat much of it. The place is a cool spot with a bar on one side and food service on the other. The staff were nice. As for the food; my son had the California Burrito he'd never tried it and was so excited because it had french fries in it (at least it was supposed to have fries in it, if it did we couldn't see or taste it) he ate it anyway just because he was hungry. My daughter had the Los Ninos Asada meal with fries (my son ended up snagging some fries from her to put in his burrito) and she said it was good. I had 3 rolled tacos with Guac which was sorry to say a bit flavorless with a large drink that I shared with my son. Our bill came out to a little over $27 for 3 of us which to me was a bit steep considering the amount of food we got.
