Given the current climate, I hate to post a bad review but the manager needs to see this and make changes. I usually trust the 4-star places to be good. Spent $55 on dinner for four plus 8 oz guacamole and large chips. The guoc was runny and lacked flavor, chips lacked salt. Two of the four dinners were HORRIBLE! The Chile Rellano did not have the center melted and the "sauce" for the topping was clear like veggie soup (see picture). I ordered flour tortillas and was given corn. The carne asada Taco was ok but lacked the cheese that I added and paid for! The taco combos were good per my family members. The carne asada burrito was meat, onion, and cilantro--dry and salty. Always delicious food, been going here for years and their food is always fresh and great. I get the California burrito and it is always the same great taste. The restaurant is a nice atmosphere (back when it was open to eat inside) and it's one of my all-time favorite stops. Haven't found a better CA burrito. read more

I was saddened that they didn't have lengua available, but all that was erased when I got two Asada tacos, two al pastor quesatacos (crispy cheese wrapped around the meat!) and two aztek tacos (with nopales AKA cactus) - the tortillas here are the bomb, so tender and delicious. Can't believe I haven't left a review. My kids and I have been coming here for a few years. I love their Aztek burritos and over all, everything has been good and great service. So today I went in and wanted to try the Birria. So I get home excited to try it and the first thing I saw was the SMALLEST portion of Salsa I have ever seen ( second no limes but I have some at home so I didn't mind, don't like to waste) and I was literally like wtf is this!? well it's spicy AF hahaha that's what I get! It was perfect for the portion. If the container was full and I would of dumped it all in my food like I usually do, I would die anyway, the food was great like always and love the fresh tortillas. My wife and I visited Aztek Tacos for the first time today. With a name like the one it has I was expecting authentic carne asada flavor when I ordered my Two Carne Asada Tacos Combo Plate. The meat that was used had little to no flavor "sazon." Also it was on the tough side/rubbery to chew as if it were sitting for some time or overcooked... maybe a little of both. The guacamole and the tortilla had more of the "Traditional Mexican" taco flavor that i was looking for. The beans and rice were the usual flavors... no surprises there. On the positive side my wife's Chile Relleno Burrito was tasty. And surprisingly made with the correct chile: Chile Pasilla. read more

Aztek tacos has some good Mexican food. Every time we visit temecula we stop in for a bite to eat. The offer complimentary chips and a nice salad bar. They have some very unique items on the menu like a taco with steak, mushrooms and fried cheese! My husband LOVES their California burritos and I really enjoy their ceviche tostadas. They have a variety of soda options. Everything we've had here has been delicious. They have a lot of inside and outside seating as well. The only negative is the staff isn't very friendly. It could be that they're always busy when we visit but it's not hard to smile back at someone and be polite every once in awhile. I do recommend this place for some delicious Mexican food! read more

What happened to the Aztek Taco I loved for years? Food expensive as hell and the food is dry and bland. Been going to this place for 10 years. I would tell people this place was THE best carne asada and Al pastor meat because it was well marinated and so full of flavor. It was literally authentic marinated and cooked Mexican food Carne Asada always had a red tint on it from the marinating and you could see the Al pastor being cut in front of your eyes and was full of juices and flavor. But in the last year the food quality has gone way down and the prices are way up!! Let's start with the carne Asada first. They don't marinate it anymore. And most of the time it's completely over cooked so there is no flavor what so ever and very dry. It is now the grossest thing there. Good carne Asada HAS to be thin cut and marinated. Anything else is just steak. Why did you guys change it? Next is the al pastor. It's not cooked on the drum anymore. Not sure how they make it now but again no marinade, no flavor and very, very dry, no pineapple juice to heighten the flavor. It's almost like they just grill it and that's it. So, so wrong. Even the guacamole has gone down hill here. Used to be very flavorful and now it's just smashed avocados with not much else. Every order used to come with chips if you dined in, and the food WAS amazing and worth the price. Now a family of 4 can't eat here for anything less than $50+. And the quality of the food and flavors are all gone. Have they gone under new management? What's going on here? I have not seen the owner in a while so maybe it's the new management that screwed things up. What ever it is, this place needs to change back to what it was or it's going to go away. I remember coming here and having lines go out the door and not being able to find parking. Lines are much shorter now and lot is empty. This place never disappoints! Can't go wrong with asada fries, nachos, carne asada burrito, chicken tacos, shrimp tacos with mushrooms, quesadillas, carnitas torta, etc.... These are only a sampling of the items we've eaten here over the past five years and everything is really good. It may have long lines for ordering, it may be "fast casual" but the food to me is still the best Mex in all of Temecula! Cons: Busy, and sometimes noisy. In nice weather, eat outside. Some menu items are pricey. Choose carefully. My wife and I consistently have dinner for two with fountain drinks for between $21-28. We feel it's worth the money but some things like the bean and cheese burrito, guacamole or add-on avocado are overpriced. The pros outweigh the cons by a big margin. read more

What the hell happened to this place? Don't even blame COVID or short staffing for this shit. It's pretty sad that Taco Bell tacos have more flavor than this place. The asada and pastor tacos are dry and have absolutely zero flavor. They taste like corn tortillas and cilantro. With that said even at $1 a piece they would be severely overpriced. What a shame, this place used to have great food and it has absolutely slid to the bottom of the barrel, well everything but their prices. $50 for a few tacos and a burrito is outrageous considering cardboard tastes better. Food is good which is why I give it three stars but their service at the cash register is a shit show. Nobody answers the phone when you try and call in an order and if they do it's 20 minutes later. When you get here and there are a few people in line but not enough to warrant not answering the phone. Meanwhile while I'm on hold trying to place an order on the phone I try and place an order online but that is down as well. When I get here they blame it on the fires that are currently going on east and north of here and not even close to their business. Food was good. Giving it a 1 star because their customer service was horrible. Spent over 45mins to get my food which is understandable due to lack of employees. What I do find unacceptable is the fact that the employee refused to provide me salsas and was arguing with me. When you pay over $40 dollars for tacos, the least you expect is eat them comfortably without an employee limiting the amount of salsa you can have in your tacos. In addition, when I got home I realized they also didn't provide any limes which at this point my overall experience makes me not only not want to come back but share my negative experience with friends and family. I use to love this place so much a few years back ! I went in ordered 2 burritos a breakfast and steak and shrimp and a side of Fries. Had to throw them away paid over 30$ for our food and was very disappointed. We drove all the way from hemet ! Not going back any more! Aztek's service and atmosphere are both impressive to say the very least, and I was overwhelmed by their menu. Settling down for two simple pastor tacos, I had them to go roughly ten minutes later. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? For $2.69 each, I was a bit surprised at the high price tag for Aztek's tacos considering I'm used to sub-$2.00 prices for street tacos in Los Angeles. While the portions were a bit larger than a typical street taco, this was a close call with regard to price. I felt a bit as though I was paying for Aztek's real estate as opposed to the tacos themselves. Single Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? My pastor tacos were just okay. The tortillas tasted fresh enough but not freshly made, and the pastor was a bit dry and overcooked. Came here with a friend who is a local of the area. I got a couple of quesatacos (one carnitas and one pollo) and he ordered a carne asada burrito. After we ordered, we were offered a basket of chips which my friend accepted. (I am avoiding carbs at the moment... le sigh!) There is a nice salsa bar that had about 6 different salsas if memory serves right, along with some radishes and lime wedges. From what I could hear they were really crispy and would have probably been really tasty with some salsa. They have one of those soda machines that allow you to select different flavors along with your chosen beverage, which can be fun. They have a few tv screens and several tables, which is good for small parties or larger parties as needed. I'm not a big fan of chicken in general but their chicken quesataco was pretty tasty! I liked the carne asada better, but that's just because I generally prefer beef to pollo. The crispy cheese is soooo good! Decided to try this establishment out due to the Yelp reviews. However not sure how they are receiving such high stars for this location. The service was absolutely terrible. The young man at the counter had no personality was slightly abrasive and very short and pushy. I asked the young lady who was in the sitting area to wipe the table because it was dirty and she told me oh don't worry about it it's just dust it's fine, that's terrible!!! Now to the food, this is one of the worst Mexican places I have tried. I ordered a queso taco and carne asada fries. The queso Taco was so greasy it was sitting in a puddle of oil. The carne asada fries had little shoestring fries and carne asada that had gristle and fat all throughout it. To top it off who makes carne asada fries without beans? As I reread the menu while I was sitting in the restaurant it appears that most of their items do not have rice or beans added and to add it is $3 plus each item, that's absolutely ridiculous! I would give a 4 stars but found the place off putting. The fact that 2 street taco and chips with water is $10 and they have no taco Tuesday special is a bit ridiculous. At least give free chips or something. With that said the tacos are good but I also find it tacky that the put a sign on the glass where the cooks cook not to disturb them.
