I went in recently during the noon hour, on a Tuesday. There were about ten people inside eating, which was a good thing, since I felt that the food was good enough for the "locals" so I was impressed with that. The place exploded with people while I was inside eating, again, indicative of the place being a favorite eatery. Navy troops poured inside like the "fleet landed" nearby, lol. I had a Chorizzo burrito. The thing was HUGE! I had a decent appetite when I went into eat, but I could not quite finish the burrito. They also have some kind of drink in a container there on the counter by where you order your food. Don't recall the name of the drink, but it is some kind of Mexican dairy drink. The lady at the counter was kind enough to pour me a small sample of the concoction and I thought it was pretty good. But, I ended up with a Coke fountain drink. All in all not a bad place to eat. I really like the regular burritos. But my very favorite is torta de Milanesa. (Breaded stake) Also one of the best deals is the carne al gusto you get beans, rice and any meat with tortillas. The place to go for lunch but they get busy so call ahead. read more

I'm in Fallon for a couple weeks for a school at the NAS out here. This place was recommended by the front desk clerk at the Holiday Inn. Boy was he right! The place was mostly empty, which I found surprising. It was about 5, so maybe folks eat later around here. I ordered the Pork Burrito Supreme (I didn't see the California Burrito, which has fries inside. Next time....). In about five minutes, my number was called, and the lady behind the counter pushed what looked like a small baby wrapped in foil toward me. I grabbed some brined jalapenos and the verde sauce, then told my self "Myself, you will eat only half of this massive burrito." When Myself took the first bite into the shredded porkey, guacamole-ey, ricey, cheesey deliciousness inside, he said "%$#^ you I'm eating this whole thing.". It was sooo goooood, and only like 6 bucks too! Afterward, I had my first fit of heartburn ever. I'm getting old. Bottom line: Eat here, and get the California burrito. read more

We were hightailing it through the Fallon/Reno area when we decided to stop for lunch. I pulled into this place because it looked authentic. OMG. My ceviche tostada was so good, I ordered another one. My husband's carne asada burrito was excellent, he said. We talked about our lunches there for days afterwards. Granted, I'm a gringo, but I spent a good number of my childhood weekends in the early 1960s being dragged to Tijuana from San Diego because my mother was tighter than a rusted nut and knew that groceries would be less expensive there. I ate a lot of street food and developed a taste for Tijuana's food carts. Tortas, ceviche, fresh tortillas, grilled stringy beef, etc. I continue to try to relive the culinary experiences of my five-year-old stomach, mostly with limited success. The food at this panaderia was not like the street food of Tijuana, but it was still damned good. As soon as they run light rail from Seattle to Fallon, I'll be there at least once a week. read more

I've eaten here twice since living in Fallon, and I have to say they are two of the worst mexican food experiences of my life. The first time, I ordered flautas. It looked like they literally brought me 99cent wal-mart microwave taquitos. It was TV dinner style. The second time I ate there, I ordered enchiladas thinking, how can they screw THAT up? The enchiladas were tiny. Almost comically small. And not very good anyway. Again, it was TV dinner style. We popped in here one night last week, not realizing they were about to close. Regardless of the time, the ladies were very sweet and told us it was no problem. We ordered, but got it to go so we wouldn't keep them there. We both ordered a chimichanga. I had a steak, my husband had carnitas. We were both really impressed with the flavor and the freshness. The size of the chimichanga was enough we could have shared one and been full. The two salsas (one red, one green) were quite nice, even on their own. We're going back here for dinner tonight. We plan to be there early enough to eat in the restaurant this time. The breakfast burritos from this joint are steller. They are what dreams of ending hangovers are made of. I have stumbled into this scantly clad restaurant, moseyed up to the bar, order my b'rito and beer and have been cured of the devil that is a gnar hangover. Potatoes, meat, and awesome green salsa is the best cure in town. They have a great selection of pastries, drinks and beer. Their green salsa is the perfect addition to ANY thing on the menu and the service has always been great. They do one dollar tacos every Tuesday but they are only really worth .75 cents in my mind. When first walking in I noticed lots of cultural Hispanic photos around the restaurant. The music is what won me over. Such an authentic feel from the minute you walk in. Great authentic Mexican food! Be bold. Try the tacos de lengua (beef tongue) or ceviche tostadas. They sell out of buche (pork belly) in the morning so I still haven't tried it. Azteca is very informal but certainly not dumpy. They have a good selection of Mexican beer and soda, and generally a selection of pastries, however the taqueria menu is definitely their best feature. And the staff is friendly! Tied with Maria Bonitas for best Mexican, their small tacos and burritos are awesome. I try and make it here once a month and they do have taco tuesday. It's quick and you can elect to sit down and stay or get your food to go. But definitely swing by and check it out, its good, also try their red and green salsa. They are both very good and can go on all their dishes and is made in house. read more

I love this place. It's such a good little place to get Mexican food. The portions are really big. The super burrito is the best thing to get. I love how its made fresh to order too. Definitely a must if you're in Fallon. Only thing I don't like is they DO NOT ANDWER THIER PHONE. If you have a large order or want to arrange a call ahead order don't waste your time. I called 6 different times over a 2 hour period and not once did they answer their phone. I had to drive up to place a large order for pick up later in the day. Whether you prefer chicken, steak, pork, carne asada, cow brain or tongue burritos, the Azteca is a good burrito spot in the northern-not quite Carson or Reno-Nevada area. Considering the next closest semi-authentic Mexican eatery must be at least an hour away, the Azteca is realistically the only show in on the road. The only well in the village. The only stop in a one horse town. To its credit, the place is good, and would likely survive in a more populated area with a competitive burrito culture like Los Angeles or San Diego. Having the option of a post-meal pastry is nice, and the churros and doughnuts aren't bad. The California-style carne asada burrito takes my vote for the best item on the menu. Expect to pay about $7 per burrito, which is a little steep by my standards, but with no other competition and considering the cost to get meat and produce to this severely remote location, I guess one could justify the price. The place does get some cool points for having exotic options like cabeza, tongue and laundry detergent if you so need it. If you're really graving Mexican food, Azteca is good, but the best Mexican food in town gets three stars. Not three-almost four stars, or three-almost two stars, just three stars. The manager responded and was very accommodating! I would recommend going here because the food is good, but contact the manager via Facebook if there are any issues as the employees are generally unhelpful. They will resolve the issue immediately! Hi! Tonight we ordered from your restaurant, but had to call multiple times in order for someone to answer. When we got our food, the kids working had to be reminded to get our drinks because they were on their phones. This makes sense because when I called the order in I kept hearing the snapchat notification on someone's phone going off. When we got home we discovered there were no straws, we didn't get the chicken taco we ordered, and the chicken super quesadilla did not have chicken in it. I called back (again had to call multiple times) and the young man who answered the phone was a bit rude when I politely asked for a refund for the quesadilla and the taco. He said "when I asked you what meat you wanted on the quesadilla you didn't answer" to which I replied "Yes I did. You're saying you asked me a question and I just didn't answer it?" He responded yes. I am certain I specified multiple times which meats we wanted. He stated we were charged for a cheese quesadilla anyway, so I said that was fine. He said "have a nice day" and hung up without refunding the taco. This is the second time we've order form here and the second time we've had a bad experience. Your employees are not representing your business well at all and I thought you should know. I'm not sure what is going on with their title, but they are certainly not a bakery. You can order from the food menu and yes it's better than taco bell if you're comparing the 2. The worst excuse for an enchilada was tiny and mediocre at best, and the flautas, which are traditionally stringed beef with guacamole and sour cream on top were merely chicken taquitos.
