Lots of pumpkins, even small ones and white ones (not pictured)

First time there with my two little ones and they loved it. I saw they had a "kitchen" I'm assuming a restaurant or something where you can purchase food right where you enter the lot. They had lots of vendors selling drinks, Mexican food, kettle corn, handmade jewelry, tumblrs, beanies, etc. I saw face painting and ceramic paintings. You can purchase tickets for the corn maze, hay ride, and kids cow train ride. Pumpkin patch is free to go look and pick. You pay for your pumpkins at the front "store". You can see chickens and feed goats for a small price. Workers were helpful and kind. There's wagons you can borrow to haul around the pumpkins at the patch. They have weekly themed costume contests if you're interested. Overall very cute and fun

This place was great !! We visited as part of a special event but you definitely do not need to wait for a special reason to visit, they have so much to see and do! They sell local produce from their farms, some hot sauces and some baked goods. I am a total fan of their sweet pepper chili sauce and the pineapple jalapeño sauce. The two alarm taco sauce is ok. I will be returning for some more of the sweet pepper and pineapple jalapeño sauces and maybe try some other ones they may have. Their baked goods are excellent !! Corn maze, goat feeder station, farm animals trivia, antique farm equipment display and may more. There are plenty of activities for the kids and for adults as well. Definitely a family venue !! I will definitely visit often and recommend to everyone I can.

This year's design was a UFO beaming up a cow.

What a fun way to celebrate fall. Lattin Farms has the most creative corn maze designs. This was our first attempt and what a blast it was. We heard nothing but laughter and teamwork in the maze, they had employees on hand to help if needed, and they incorporated a 10 question quiz to which you could find answers in the maze. We definitely plan to do this again.

Home, home on the range... where the organic cantaloupes, beets and asparagus play? Somehow I don't think that's right, but it is what it would be if we were talking about Lattin Farms! Rick and B. Ann Lattin, owners of Lattin Farms, have been supplying the Northern Nevada community with delicious fresh, organic, produce and family fun for the past 35 years! In that time they somehow managed to raise 5 children and 11 grandchildren, make some delicious pickles and jams, and build a brand around being our friendly neighborhood farmers. Rick and B. Ann have been committed to promoting local agriculture for a long time, and I was so happy to have had the pleasure to meet them during an event they hosted for the local "Goats R Us" 4H program and Gloria Montero, of Montero Goat Farm. The event was to promote the upcoming 4H auction in Fallon this weekend, and Nevada Junior Livestock Auction in about a week, as well as showcase goat as a delicious and available source of local protein. Dough Catering cooked up three delicious preparations of goat that left everyone wanting more! There was a goat sugo over goat's milk polenta with a parmesan crisp, a goat carnitas tacos with charred scallions, fresh radish, and cilantro crema, and goat sliders with smoked tomato aioli, cheddar cheese, on a homemade brioche bun! Each dish was better than the next, but my personal favorite was the sugo. The more than 150 attendees were amazed at how delicious and tender the meat was, as well as how similar it tasted to proteins they were already familiar with. I'm excited to see these additional proteins coming into their own here in Nevada, along with the wonderful variety of fresh produce the Lattin's are producing. It's a testament to our cowboy and agricultural roots, and I love seeing it in action. Meeting people like Rick and B. Ann, Gloria Montero and Karl Clinger, and all of the 4H kids and their families, is incredible. It reassures me that we will have local food available for years to come because of their continued commitment and dedication.

Have to comment on Lattin Farms. I had the best locally grown, organic asparagus last week and had to go back and get more this week. Most of my experiences with store bought asparagus has been that it is tough and hard to chew. Not with Lattin Farms'. Lattin Farms is an organic farm in my hometown Fallon, NV and I have been a patron of theirs for 10 years. They are a contributor to the Great Basin CSA and come summer will have an array of tomatoes, cantalopes, squash. You name it, they've got it. Last week, Rick Lattin was maning the shop. He's the owner of Lattin Farms and while his staff were selling their produce elsewhere, he was keeping his stand open. I was impressed that he's do that, although he and I had a good chuckle that he was fumbling around with the cash register. Lattins Farms also has canned goods and I have had their cantelope jam and salsa and also their baked goods. Love their homemade jams and salsas. The bakery goods might have been day old. Cookies were kind of dry. Lattin Farms is a great place to bring kids, especially when they have events going on. Fallon is a great place to be if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Reno and just unwind. There is a picnic bench and grassy area for a nice picnic. Fun, down to earth place to be

I initially came here to pick up fresh produce while on vacation, but I was so impressed with the quality of their homemade beads and jams that I returned the next day. Breakfast! Oh my word! Do yourself a favor a stop by on a day when it's cool enough to eat outside on their back patio. You'll get to enjoy a fantastic down home breakfast amidst a backdrop of a working farm. Throughout the meal, various Lattin Farm family members stopped by to see how the food was and ask us about ourselves, and then they continued on to their barn chores. Such a hidden gem! Make sure to meet the farm puppies, and have a frank conversation with the llama/alpaca while you're there!

My grandson and daughter invited me to their school outing a few weeks ago. I was very excited to attend as I not only was going to spend some quality time with them but I had not been to a pumpkin farm since leaving Illinois a few years back. Which in Southern Illinois is quite an experience. Any way back to the review at hand. My daughter and I arrived early and decided to look around the produce market etc... I was slightly disappointed in that there was not really much to offer. I guess I assumed they would be overflowing with produce and baked goods. There were plenty of squash and pumpkins, however some looked a little aged. Most were fine, but I didn't see much in the area of baked goods. Guess I thought there would be breads, cakes, pies etc... didn't see much of that. There was plenty of jams and jellies though. However, I must say the biggest disappointment came in the fact, we were unable to purchase a lunch at the restaurant onsite. My daughter had packed a lunch for my grandson, but after looking at their website mentioning the restaurant we thought we could grab a bit there while the kiddos were eating their lunches together. Upon walking in to get lunch we could see it was hectic. We were asked if we were with a group coming from Reno, and stated no. Then a lady from the back area came up and said they were busy putting together lunches for the Reno group and wouldn't be able to get us anything for at least 1 - 2 hours. I was a little upset but thought well this couldn't be helped. Maybe next time they should get more help to allow people coming in to buy lunches too. That however was not the worst part. Apparently the teachers of my grandsons school had called the day before to confirm they could get lunch at Lattins Country Kitchen still and were told no problem. Unaware that I had entered the diner and was turned away, they teachers went in to get lunch. The lady from the back came up as she did with me and pretty much told them in a rather rude and loud voice, I HAVE NOTHING TO GIVE TO YOU, I AM TOO BUSY. Suffice to say the teachers were more upset by this news as they had been told since booking this little trip to their farm they could receive lunch and were quickly ushered out with words that could have been a little more appropriate from their restaurant staff. Shame on Lattin Farms for doing this to them and other paying customers. If you advertise that you have a restaurant on site then you darn well better make sure you can cover your restaurant. These teachers were tired after being with 1st graders all morning walking through your less than stellar establishment, and were very hungry. Now they had to wait until they returned to school to eat and that would have been difficult since they still had a few hours of teaching left to do. To explain my less than stellar establishment, again I refer to the produce market, the tiny pumpkins the kids picked at your pumpkin patch area and the tiny corn maze. Was there another one nearby that might have been somewhat taller? There was however the cow train which the kids really enjoyed, and they were able to feed one goat using some contraptions at the farm. However, some of the kids were disappointed in that they didn't get an opportunity to do it because of time constraints. However, after lunch all the kids were free to do that as there was nothing else for them to do but run around.

They are the only local source I have been able to find that can regularly supply me with locally raised chickens that eat organic grain, native plants, and insects. Their birds actually move around in a large open space, hunting and pecking at bugs and local forage. (What a concept)! I stopped buying organic chicken from Costco and even Whole Foods after I did a little research about it. I discovered that Petaluma Farms, which supplies organic chicken to Whole Foods, boasts that their chickens have one square foot to live in, instead of the industry standard of 3/4 square foot per bird. Seriously? It's right on their website. I was paying $14 for a chicken that was living in a space a little bigger than a piece of copy paper for it's entire life. It is widely known that even though birds in these environments have "outdoor access", most of them never actually get out there because they're crammed together inside. I currently have a six-month chicken subscription with Rise and Shine that started in May. Every month, Mike, the owner, drives from Fallon to Reno and delivers three chickens to my door. I prepaid with Paypal, and I don't even have to leave my house. Last Fall, we preordered 25 birds and they were all delivered at once (they raise them specifically for you). We plan to do that again after our subscription ends. Last year, we also ordered a turkey for Thanksgiving and a goose for Christmas. (That was really cool; we had never had goose before.) Our family has completely gone local when it comes to buying meat, and we will never go back. All poultry comes from Rise and Shine and beef and lamb comes from Albaugh Farms. We're still looking for a local source for pork. Until then, we've essentially given it up. I highly recommend Rise and Shine Farms without hesitation.

SUMMARY Visited here per recommendation from our hotel as we were visiting for our wedding anniversary. We went to get something small to eat and dropped by Chimayo's. Afterwards we visited the farmer's market and picked up two desserts. VENUE As mentioned, the market is small but they had about everything that a larger one would have too. Fresh veggies and fruit, crafts, ice cream, pies, and food. We dropped by one place called "Tahoe Pan Ice Cream" which is one of those places that serve poured cream and "scraped" ice cream in a cup. You might've seen this on travelogues on Youtube (popular in SE Asia) and yes, that's the style of scraped ice cream I'm talking about. It was quite good and in a shareable portion size just right for us. There was another shop we dropped by that sold homemade pies. We struck up a conversation with the owners who were long time residents of SLT. They were a nice couple, so we bought their one and only remaining Key Lime Pie. Sorry no pics because we gobbled that delicious pie like nobody's business that same night :) Overall if you're in the area during the summer, it's definitely a good stop if you're NOT looking for large crowds and away from the NLT "scene" near the casinos.
