Discovered this place during a recent visit to Fallon, Nevada. Cashier at as friendly and helpful as we ordered dinner. My wife ordered the carne asada and I ordered the steak enchiladas with red sauce. Both served with rice and beans. Both meals were delicious. They also have a small grocery store that is stocked with a variety of Mexican staples, spices and marinaded meats. We will be back! read more

The place is a mix of a restaurant, butcher (Mexican cuts), and a bodega. The staff were very friendly but the food was "ok."

3 tortillas the size of silver dollar pancakes, for a whole plate of food? And then they wanted to charge me for more? No thanks

Back in the area again, couldn't resist stopping at one of my favorite local restaurant in fallon. The pork ribs in chile verdi, yum! I'm trying the wet burrito also with lengua. The burrito was okay, it could've used a lot more sauce. I think I'll stick with the pork ribs from now on. read more

Carniceria Mendoza is a combination butcher shop and restaurant. The good: the food was very good. My wife had chicken enchiladas with rice and whole pinto beans (not refried) and I had chicken fajitas with rice and beans. The salsa was homemade and also delicious. We received our meals around 7:30 P.M. They close at 8:00 P.M. The floor is divided by a typical room divider where the restaurant is in the front and the butcher shop is just on the other side. My wife and I are two or three bites into our meal when the staff decides to wash the butcher shop with a generous amount of cleaning fluid. The odor from the cleaning was so overwhelming that we couldn't finish our meals. A for the food; A for keeping your place clean; F for thinking it was a good idea that cleaning while people were eating. We had already paid so maybe they wanted to get rid of us early. I walked into a cozy little market full of Mexican/Latin staples. I almost left thinking I was in the wrong place til I saw people sitting at tables and eating. We were driving thru Fallon and decided to grab a bite before heading back to Reno. THIS PLACE IS LOCATED IN A Harbor Freight SHOPPING CENTER NEAR DMV. This is a combination Mexican market AND restaurant. It seems to do a reasonably good job at both. The meats look amazingly fresh. I've lived in Mexico and this is a very nice small local market. As for the restaurant, the food is really good and reasonably priced. My husband ordered huevos rancheros with the eggs cooked VERY lightly and no rice, double beans. They did a very good job getting the eggs perfect. $7 Thumbs UP. I ordered an ala carte chili rellano. $4.50. Also thumbs up. We would DEFINITELY eat here again. NOTE: because this is also a market, they do NOT bring water or chips & salsa as in many restaurants. You can buy bottled water and buy chips. But they are not "free". Walk in and immediately greeted! Has a little store and restaurant! You order in the back and was immediately greeted again! They took my order and I asked if they could make a guaq and he immediately told me he could do that for me! We ordered asada tacos and let me TELL YOU HOW AMAZING THEY WERE!!! THE MEAT WAS FLAVORED SO YUMMY!!! The meat just perfect! Fresh chips made to perfection!!!!!!!! The guaq was better than any I have had!!! Great new Carniceria, grocer and Mexican food restaurant, a month old in Fallon, NV. They are located next to Game Stop where the Chinese Buffet once was. These folks are from Reno and realized the need in Fallon for their specialty shop. The place was pretty busy with foot traffic on a Saturday at lunch. I enjoyed the most enthusiastic butcher singing his songs. The street tacos were A+. Got my usual canitas taco and my carne asada taco. Very flavorful. Also got a chile and cheese tamale. It's a walk up, order, sit down and then get served restaurant. Service was prompt. The owner was very friendly and greeted the patrons. I am glad that they are here and hope they do well here in Fallon. A plus feature is their Carniceria with all of the Mexican flavored meats and the availability of cultural food products for our locals. Well worth the trip to check out! read more

3.5ish stars - limited "take home and cook" options and not amazing flavor. But I will return, and the service was great! Most of their area is eat-in and then there's a little to-go raw meat counter. There's also maybe three abbreviated aisles (like small gas station size). I went in to order meat to cook at home for dinner. I was definitely disappointed at the limited options but I'm probably spoiled from living in larger towns. They had maybe 12ish meat options total, with 2-4 pre-marinated options. Service was GOOD!! Folks were attentive and kind. Presumptuous though it may be, my Caucasian self did actually end up seasoning the meat the night that I cooked the second half and that have it more needed flavor. We found our go-to place for Mexican food. We had Al pastor and carne asada tacos. Delicious!! Ingredients fresh and fast service. What we love is the a la carte meats you can take to-go. Pico de gallo was fresh and clean. Hot sauce was just hot with no flavor, and mild sauce was pretty flavorless. The rice was mushy and the beans were overcooked. The tacos were dry, and the gordita, while flavorful, fell apart before I could even begin eating it (tasted like the dough was undercooked). The onions in the tacos were incredibly tiny and there might have been only seven or eight pieces in each. Very chintzy on things like that, the cilantro, etc. They clearly know how to cook and what the food should taste and look like but they didn't seem to put a lot of care put into making it get there. I went there for the first time today, and I lowkey want to gatekeep it because it's so good; but that wouldn't be right, so here I am. :) This place has delicious authentic Mexican food, and I'm so excited to have found them. Emphasis on authentic Mexican food, not Tex mex/southwest mex. I got lengua tacos and a carne asada sope. Tacos were good, but the sope was amazing. I feel like their carne asada is better than their lengua, but I'm excited to try their other meat options. Green salsa has more flavor than the red, and both are fairly mild. Decent food don't get me wrong but you guys don't know how to run a fucking restaurant. First time, they completely wrecked my wife's order with the wrong meat and nuclear spice. Second time, my chimichanga was chuck full of tooth picks so I had to tear it apart and make a burrito bowl. Third and final time, call order in at 2:11pm and I'm told it'll be ready within 15minutes. I get there before the 15 and it's busy in there. Mind you it's lunch rush and I'm patient. However, I lost my patience 45 minutes later still waiting for my meal while watching large orders that came in after me get filled. Oh and the burrito has toothpicks again! The first time I called in to place an order for my team at work...25 Tacos...of course 5 were missing... Hubby and I went for breakfast. They serve big portions so come with an appetite. They didn't have coffee so that was a bummer, we haven't tried their lunch food so I can't speak for that. The service was great and the cook even came out to ask if everything was ok. Prices are fine when compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area. We ordered the huevos rancheros, but they were not the traditional ones with the tortillas under the eggs and they were cooked over hard instead of the usual over medium or over easy. It could be that there are different ways of making this meal in different parts of Mexico. The flavors were as expected and yummy, they also give you a couple of salsas they make in case you want to spice up things. The three stars you see are not because I don't plan to return, but more because 1. Yes, it was missing the coffee and 2. Because I didn't get the meal in its most traditional way. I'll return to try other items in their menu and I recommend you give it a shot whether passing by or you're a local. read more
