Problem solver! Raul(whcih he likes it pronounced "Rawl") is Superb! Masterful in electronic solutions down to component level. I took my Home Subwoofer with grounding noise to him. Had that problem for over a year. Took it to a previous tech and they couldn't figure it out as it sat with them for 3 weeks. "Rawl" told me what it was before even disassembling the unit. He confirmed it within 2 hrs. Capacitor issues. he replaced them all. Humming gone, Sub sounds better with replacement parts all working. Didn't charge for parts, I happily paid for his services. I took my record player to be fixed 7/7/25. It is now 10/12/25 and still nothing. He promised to call me back today before 1pm. It is now after 1pm and he is not answering his phone. I have had it with this guy. He has promised results at least 5 different times with nothing. All I want is to pick up my record player and find someone else to fix it. That will be another chore trying to pin him down to a time, as I live 45 minutes away. I do not know how anyone can run a business this way. read more

I have read some of his reviews. A few claim that Raul is great, and I have no reason to believe otherwise. HOWEVER, his shop is a horrific mess with devices half built and DUSTY. I got the impression these things were all half-done perhaps waiting on parts or approval....or he just forgot. There are some negative reviews listed, some people are just plain negative, others are just plain ignorant. People do bring in expresso machines, which the actual manufacturer will not work on. Aztec Electronics does amazing work on sound systems. He re-capped two 1950's Guitar Amps for me and made them sound amazing a few years back. That convinced me. Then Raul designed some circuits for a Broadcast Quality Amp and reduced the distortion (THD) to a third of the original spec. On a crossover system, his work is so meticulous, it looks like it was done by NASA. I called today about a tube preamp that works great, but Raul thinks could be quieter. No answer. No problem to me. But some people think otherwise. Maybe get angry, that their special needs aren't being immediately gratified. Not me. Raul takes a while to get to his repairs, but he warned me about this ahead of time, so I wasn't too surprised. Just as I was starting to get a little anxious about the time it was taking, he called and said it was ready! I drove a long way to get to him (a little over an hour), but it was worth it. I bought the Fender used over a decade ago and have never really gotten to use it because of some issues it was having (buzzing, popping, bad input). I upgraded this from 1 stars (which I wanted to be 0, but you can't do 0) to 2 stars to be more fair. Years ago he fixed my speaker. It took him two tries (I brought it home after the first try), but at least the 2nd time he figured out where the short was he didn't figure out the 1st time, and fixed it without charging anything extra. It was inconvenient, but I was still grateful, and the cost was VERY reasonable. About 2-3 weeks ago I brought him a multi-disc CD player that was skipping and was having a lot of trouble loading discs. When you call him at first, this is what to expect - he asks when you need it fixed by, and he'll try and get you to bring it in a few days from now since he's swamped. Both times I asked why can't I just bring it in today, even if you can't fix it right away, and he said ok. He didn't give me an estimate of how much time my CD player would take, so after 4-5 days I called him for an update and he said he had a different phone name and # on the invoice attached to my unit, so couldn't reach me. He still hadn't fixed it regardless, so I pushed a couple more times, and he finally said it was fixed after a few more days. I went in and was going to pick it up, but he wanted me to hear it working first, so I went in the back and... it still didn't work - it was better, but still having some of the same loading issues. He said he'd try again as it was working fine earlier and would have it ready the next day. I called literally 3 more times, each spaced out by a couple of days. On the 2nd time when he said yet again some variation of "I haven't been able to get into it again yet, I'll do it tomorrow," I pointed out it was the 2nd time he'd said that, and he said it'd be ready the next day. Three more days passed with no phone call from him (if he even had my phone # anymore), and I called him today. Like every other time, it took him a while to figure out who I was and what piece of equipment I was talking about, and seemed genuinely surprised to hear form me, even though he'd told me multiple times it'd be ready "the next day." He said, "I still haven't gotten into it again yet, I'll do it tomorrow." I said, "No, no, no, no, no, this is literally the 3rd time you've told me that." All I wanted was for him to make it a priority and tell me he'd do it right away after putting me off so many times as it was a hassle to get to his out of the way shop with my busy life, but instead he said angrily, "Just come get it, I'm going to lunch, I'll be back at 1." And then he hung up. He was mad at ME, like it was my fault he told me over and over and over he'd fix it and kept breaking his word, as if I was the evil person for wanting him to fix my broken electronics when he fixes broken electronics. It's not my fault his first attempt didn't go as well as he'd hoped. Wow! I was pretty shocked. Honestly, I don't care tremendously about fantastic customer service. If I get a product I want, or someone does me a service and I don't fall in love with the person, or their communication skills aren't stellar, I'm ok with it. I'm much more concerned with the end result, but still. In fairness, he didn't charge me anything, and when I got it home it is vastly improved. It's maybe 80% better, which makes it at least usable. Just beware. Expect things not to go smoothly, and make sure you test your device at his shop before bringing it home to avoid multiple trips. Most people in other reviews have had positive experiences, so take this for what it's worth. I won't ever be going back personally, even though I might have to travel to find someone else who does what he does. I considered not leaving this review at all, as I hate saying anything negative about someone, but people should be forewarned. read more

Raul the owner is a straight shooter, he doesn't mince words he's to the point and knows his trade. I brought in my Peavey Classic 30 tube amp after having the amp looked at, paid for service by another so called "Amp Doctor" and after 3 weeks in his possession a $150 I left the amp for dead. The guy not only didn't fix my amp he damaged it when all he was suppose to do was look for a rattle or buzz and a little tune up. Raul found the issues, fixed them and had my amp back to me in 3 days working beautifully and sounding great. Anyone who's worked on Peavey 30 classic amplifiers know they're not easy to work on. I brought my 1970's vintage Pioneer SX-850 to Raul with a broken volume control shaft and bass control shaft. Those two parts are no longer made.Raul was able to source the replacement potentiometer's along with some knobs and switches that were missing. Cleaned up the other scratchy, noisy pots and replaced a few lights that were burned out. All in all it's like new again,Thank you so much Raul on a great job for a fair price. read more

I left a five star review over a year ago after the first time Raul fixed my Blue Sky 12" powered subwoofer, because he seemed professional and prompt with his service. Unfortunately, after a few weeks, the sub shorted again. So I brought it back, he tried fixing it again, I waited another couple of weeks, and he finished it. Brought it home and same thing happened again - shorted electronics. Brought it back a third time and Raul put me on the back burner for literally a year. I would call and ask when it would be ready and he'd tell me he was sorry he had forgotten but he'd work on it this week and call me in a few days. I'd literally NEVER HEAR FROM HIM FOR MONTHS and would have to call again and again and hear the same lies over and over. THIS WENT ON FOR OVER A YEAR, no exaggeration. Finally, about four months ago, after being very pushy with him, I showed up at his store saying I was going to pick it up regardless if he had it fixed or not. He showed me to the back and pretended he had been working on it and that now he found out the speaker was bad. The thing is, the speaker had been functioning normally, it was the electronics of the amp that were causing the amp to short. But, he somehow convinced me to leave it there even longer while he found a new speaker. That was over four months ago. After multiple calls and having to hassle him, he finally got the speaker and replaced it two weeks ago. I have to admit, this time I got my hopes up. Picked up the sub, brought it home, plugged it in and powered it on, and before I could even play any audio through it, BAM! a loud pop and the sub was dead again! Now I am leaving this review. I am obviously very very dissatisfied with the service I received. And I still have a non-functioning piece of equipment! It would have been so much better if a year ago he would have just been honest and told me he doesn't have the expertise to fix this sort of thing and given it back to me with the $$$ I had paid him to fix it. I now believe he actually purposely blew the original speaker in order to buy himself some time, after I told him I was fed up with waiting and that I was going to leave a one star review on Yelp and would be coming into the store to pick it up regardless if it was fixed or not. He already knew he was in trouble so he lied even more to prevent me from leaving him a bad review like I said I would. That original speaker was expensive, unique to the sub, and definitely was NOT blown when I brought it in to him. Now I've got some generic speaker in it that's probably blown, and amp electronics that are still not functioning either. I called and he said to bring it in again, but do you really think i'd want to do that at this point??? Hell no. I don't trust him. Stay away from this place, Raul will lie to customers if he has to, and there is nothing more important in business than finding someone honest. read more

He took it back and, after taking it apart, never put it back together, despite NUMEROUS calls and visits from me. My pools chlorinator stopped working a week ago. Turns out the thermistor on the motherboard burnt out. A new motherboard would've cost me over $200 but instead I bought a new thermostat online for $10. Raul was the only person I could find that would Sauter a component on to my motherboard. Being in the music business as well as an avid Audiophile, I won't let just anyone work on my audio equipment. I first met Raul of Aztec Electronics several years ago while searching for an Electronics repair facility that specializes in vintage audio equipment. I originally phoned Raul and had a lengthy conversation regarding my top of the line expensive vintage audio equipment as well as my Recording Studio equipment and discussed my concerns and needs, which he assured me that he loved to work on the older vintage equipment and that he would take great care of it and would do everything in his powers to repair them. I dropped off my Pioneer SX1980 receiver as well as my Nakamichi Dragon cassette deck! He not only repaied both of them in a very fast turnaround time, he was literally a fraction of the cost that other repair facilities had quoted from the Orange County and San Diego areas. When I came to pick them up, he was like a proud parent wanting to show off his craftsmanship, he plugged both units in, hooked them up and auditioned both to show how well they performed! He not only completely went through both units and replaced needed parts, but installed a new knob at no cost to me. Just had an old Fender amp fixed up. Raul replaced both input jacks and made sure all the rest of the electronics looked good. Amp works great! There was a little miscommunication between us as to what needed to be done. Once I realized that both jacks were not replaced initially I called Raul and he took care of it with no charge. Where to begin...I was having trouble with my Fender "Ultimate Chorus" amplifier so I went to look at some new ones at Pete's Music shop in Temecula - great shop, of course, with extremely friendly folks. I saw some good options and then asked if perchance they repaired amps. That's when they gave me Raul's details from Aztec Electronics. I gave it a shot and took Raul my amp. He told me he'd get back to me within a week. The next day, I receive a call saying it was done! What an amazing job he did! This amp, which I bought used maybe eight years ago, is like brand new - the first channel was completely broken and is now superb. The sound is better than I had ever experienced with it. Raul re-soldered all the connections, cleaned every dial in a solution and with a toothbrush! I cannot get over what an incredible job he did and I'm extremely grateful.
