Just got my Technics turntable back from Larry at Microtech. After 42 years, it stopped working. I brought in my Technics receiver too, as I assumed it needed work after all this time. It is unbelievable. It's as good as new! Things that hadn't worked for 20 years--working. He even polished up the dust cover--yes I still have the original. The receiver crackled when you turned up the volume--fixed. I wish I'd brought it in years ago--I just assumed no one would work on sound systems this old. Larry is a miracle worker. Quality at a premium. I needed an old Grundig radio repaired that wasn't receiving AM or FM signals. The repair took a couple weeks, but came back working great. The real telling part about my experience is the guy who did the work said he did the repair and let it play for a while. As he let it play, the signal started to drop out. He fixed that too. Usually you get a repair done, take it home, and you're stuck dealing with those types of faulty jobs. This guy actually cared enough to do it right! Really appreciate that level of quality and attention. Would use them again. read more

Larry did an excellent job installing my license plate back up camera and it took him less than an hour. The part itself was $25 which I purchased on Amazon per his recommendation . The brand is called Esky. He charged $98 for labor which I thought was pretty good as other places charge $200+. I would definitely come back to have other products installed. read more

I meant to leave a review a few months ago but never got around to it till now. Larry did such a great job repairing my Technics 1200 MK2 that i had to leave a belated (but good) review. I tried to repair one of my turntables myself but didn't feel comfortable doing it so I decided to leave it to the professionals. I showed up with a half disassembled turntable and some ziplock bags of screws and parts. I was worried Larry might turn me down because i had disassembled it. However, I was relieved to find out that he was a super friendly and knowledgeable guy. He didn't seem to care much about its condition and was confident he could put it back together AND fix it the tonearm height adjuster. Larry got my turntable fixed and everything put back together within a few weeks and did it all at a very reasonable price. He also took the time to show me how to set the tonearm height and balance the tonearm which was much appreciated. I'll definitely be coming back here in the future. read more

I came by here to leave a comment about Larry, the owner of Microtech. A couple of days ago Larry proved that the lost art of honesty still exists. I purchased 2 sets of RCA jacks for an install. Larry had already installed them when he did the initial install last year, but forgot and did not need to use them and let me know this information so I can return them. He could have kept them and I would have never known. With almost everyone trying to take advantage of you in today's world it's refreshing to have experienced this and save a little money. This really stuck with me and I'm appreciative. If you're looking to have audio installed in your vehicle I HIGHLY recommend Microtech. Larry always explains in detail exactly what he has done and how it works if you don't know. I found Microtech a couple of years ago when my wife bought me a Pormido dash cam for my car. I inherited my parents Pioneer 1970s - 1980's stereo and components a few months ago when they moved and we were cleaning out our childhood home. They're big into the whole bluetooth thing and hadn't touched the stereo in easily a decade and a half, so I took it for myself. Things turned on and lit up, but nothing was playing. I scoured the web for someone who could breathe some life into this baby. BEHOLD. Larry from Microtech - the patron saint of forgotten audio. So far he's repaired the phonograph, the stereo amp, and two ENORMOUS speakers. I still have the tuner and tape deck to bring in but wanted to wait to see the stereo function enough together before writing a review. Not only did he do a phenomenal job (I feel like a little kid on Christmas with this thing), he is a WEALTH of knowledge, and is very fair. When I first brought the stereo amp in, he sat with me and went over in grave detail the system, all of its components, what could be wrong, what sometimes can happen, etc. He's also walked me through different options for bluetooth, and ways to incorporate modern tech with this setup. He has a TON of incredible vintage radios and stereos, and I can tell he's truly passionate about the work he does. 11/10, couldn't recommend Larry + Microtech enough, and am bummed I'm running out of things to bring in for repair. read more

A few years ago Larry installed a back-up camera in my 2013 VW Passat. The job was a bit complicated due the electrical wiring in some German cars such as the Passat. The front speakers stopped working in my 2015 Lincoln MKC. Larry diagnosed the problem as a bad amplifier but said this particular model wasn't being made anymore so I couldn't get a new replacement. How frustrating! But then he said he had a source to get a reconditioned one at a very reasonable price so he went ahead and ordered that for me. That was Tuesday. He had the new one shipped Fedex and today it came and he installed it for me. This is Friday of the same week. Kudos to Larry for the expertise and for he great service. He scheduled a home visit within 4 days, arrived with his "Stereo Doctor's Bag" and had the ancient odd-ball 4 pin DIN plug to hook up my sub woofer, an adapter I had tried to obtain from everywhere including Sweden and UK. Too bad I can't give zero stars. I took in my truck stereo in the middle of September and was told that they knew exactly what it was, they were sending it into the company, and that I would get it back in 7 to 10 days. I paid the full amount in advance (over $300). About three weeks later I called them back and did not get a return call. After a month I called them and the man said," Oh the company that we sent it to is having a back up and a delay, I apologize." However, then I have not heard back from them at all. I have left three messages with no return phone calls. I'm driving around my car with no stereo and cannot return the CDs that were stuck in it to the public library. Update: Today he drove to where I was and brought my stereo without the cd player to install so that I would have music, but I have still been without a stereo for two months. What I really need is the name of the other company that he's dealing with to give them a bad review if in fact that's the case. Stereo supposed to be back within 7 to 10 days and it's been two months. Update, December 5, 2016 I have not heard anything since I filed the first complaint on yelp and he came to where I was and installed the stereo which had been sitting there the entire time without the CD component. He said it should be returned soon and it is now a month later and I still do not have my CD player and cannot get him to call me back. I am currently filing a complaint online with the Better Business Bureau. I suggest no one do business with this company, this is not acceptable service. Update: Dec. 21 They have received my BBB complaint, and have not responded. I've requested they get me info by next week or I will be filing Update: At the end of January, Larry finally had my CD changer. He came to my home to install it and gifted me a couple extra goodies to make up for the four month wait. I had a headphone preamp (Little dot MKII) that had predominant audio on the left channel that switching tubes did not fix. They also found some degradation inside as well as some bad solder joints. Microtech fixed it up in three hours. When I got home, I plugged it in, turned it on, let it heat up, and it works better than when I bought it. The only thing that I wish was better was their business hours (only 9am-12pm M-F). Still, I got what I wanted. If you just got a preamp, it would be worth letting them check it out if you find anything wrong with it. Would recommend. read more

I highly recommend Microtech! Larry is extremely knowledgeable and really knows his stuff! My teen daughter purchased her first car, a used 2005 Honda Accord, but after only one week, her audio system in the car stopped working. The Honda dealership was no help as they were more interested in replacing the entire unit for thousands of dollars. That's when I found Larry at Microtech Audio Repair! Best call I ever made. Just from my initial phone call with Larry, he was able to pinpoint what he suspected was wrong with my unit. Larry explained everything with such clear understanding and expertise that I knew I was in good hands from the start. I immediately brought my daughter's car into Larry where he spent quite a deal of time locating the codes for the audio system (we didn't get those either with the purchase of the car) by removing the entire unit from the dash. He determined the problem was most likely with the DVD navigation system located in the trunk of the vehicle and gave me advice as to what my options were to repair it since this particular DVD unit is no longer being made. Larry walked me through a plan for repair from a third-party source and assisted me with the process of what I needed to do. He helpfully gave me his opinion as to what made the most sense for me to get the issue resolved, then told me to bring the unit back to him for installation once it was ready. Once I came back to see him with the repaired unit, Larry quickly installed the DVD unit into the car and set the codes for me. He only charged me the very reasonable and fair price for the original diagnostic visit, even though he worked on my stereo issues two other times. My daughter's audio system is now working great, and my family will be bringing all of our car audio repairs to Larry at Microtech from now on. My daughter and I are so appreciative of the honest and reliable service Larry provided, and we recommend Microtech for all of your car stereo repairs and service. read more

This guy Larry, who owns Microtech, is a thief and a liar--DO NOT USE! I paid him $302.19 on June 23, 2014 to fix a DVD player. He removed the unit from my car that day and then never fixed it and refuses to return my money. Seems like he lost the DVD player. Each time I've called he acts like it's the first time he's heard of me and promises to call the factory to which he sent the unit and call me back with an update. This has happened at least six times and he has never called back with an update. Not once. I've stopped by the business twice to find out what is happening and each time he pretends not to remember who I am or anything about the repair work I paid for. Larry is a fraud. read more
