Larry went above and beyond my expectations. He was very helpful and knowledgeable with his work. He helped me choose a better radio to install in my car that I love! I would highly recommend my family, friends, and anyone who are looking into upgrading their radios to go to his shop. He is awesome! He even walked me through the guidelines to my new car stereo that came with a rear camera. I am very satisfied with his work! read more

Larry is great. Fixed up my radio and back up camera. Works perfect and for an amazing price and was super fast.

Went in to get a new stereo installed in my Tacoma and Larry was very nice and knowledgeable ... he did a great job ... happy customer here

Excellent service. Buttons were sticking on my radio dash board Larry took radio out and repaired the same day. Wasn't expecting same day but I will take it. Also learned they repair antique radios also cool! read more

I purchased a new car stereo to replace my Honda's factory stereo and called Microtech Audio Repair. The owner told me what I needed to get everything installed and where to order the parts. He quoted me a very fair price for installation and I told him I would call when I had everything ready for the installation. I called a week later and brought the car in the next day. The stereo installation took about 30 minutes and the owner was very friendly and efficient. I would definitely recommend Microtech to anyone who's looking to get any radio or car stereo repairs done quickly with a great price. read more

Affordable Great Repair Shop!!! I tried to install a double din deck in my 2000 Acura Integra. The stock system was Bose, and I had all sorts of issues. Luckily I cruised through Yelp found this shop and he took me in on the same day. My car was in pieces. He had to keep it due to the fact I needed a special adapter, but when I got it back it was "cherry." He added and loaded all the futures showed me how they worked. The price was great!!! So happy I used Yelp. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! read more

Nice and friendly man explained details that an average person would not ask but he explained the details first

Larry and his team were a pleasure to work with and I'd recommend them to anyone. Their quality of service makes this business stand out. My system originally had an unknown problem and was not working. Larry and his team were able to diagnose and repair the issue. Larry was honest and upfront in his assessment and brought a ton of knowledge to the challenge. I wouldn't hesitate to reach out to to this business with whatever issue you're having. - you won't be disappointed. read more

Larry is the best in the business when it comes to vintage audio repair. Would highly recommend his services.

In these days of barely customer service and hardly engaged, these folks are top notch. Experienced, informative, and communication second to none. Highly recommend for all your vehicle audio needs including RV's and unique projects that no one else has the expertise to handle. They have done several projects for me and have exceeded my expectations every time. Ask for the owner, Larry. read more

Another great job putting a stereo, speakers and keyless entry door actuators into my daughters Honda Civic. It was a lot more work than we all thought, but he was a great sport about it. Even with all the added work, he was very fair with the price. This is the third vehicle that he has done for us, and we will keep going back! And of course we took it there on the hottest day of the year, it must've been 110° in Escondido that day. read more

Larry is a great guy. I had a backup camera installed in my Camry 2013 SE yesterday. Good price and good installation.

Call Larry did great on my Tacoma... new speakers and Sub . Great value for install... don't hesitate to call!!

7 weeks ago I took my CD player to be fixed. After a week, I was told the parts required to fix it arrived and it would be fixed in a few days. I have called numerous times and emailed trying to get my CD player back and it is as if the place fell off the earth. I guess you might not get your gear back if take here. read more

A Client recommended this shop. Searched them on the internet. they are not CLOSED as a previous Yelp States (OOPS- kinda bad for business). Come to find out they have been doing quality repairs on ALL audio equipment from the same location for twenty years. So if you have something audio (car, vintage, or other) you think is better repaired than replaced, give Larry an e-mail or call. He responded in an hour, and even works outside of his shop, when needed. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND DON'T PAY IN ADVANCE!!! Larry, the owner, appears to be down to living in his business, barely scraping by! The death of this business is swirling the bottom of the toilet. It took him THREE MONTHS, April 2015 to July 2015, after repeated unanswered phone calls to him, to install an aux jack (it doesn't work anymore) and replace our OEM stereo (we were told our OEM stereo would be sent out and repaired). But our $250. check to him was cashed the day after we gave it to him! Initially he advised it would take a week or two to have the OEM car stereo sent out and repaired. We paid upfront (HUGE mistake) and waited for a call to return for installation which never came. After countless telephone calls from us and no return calls from him we began dropping by the business during business hours to find the doors closed. The only way we were able to contact him was by going to the business after hours or on Saturdays and go around to the back of the business (where we found him barbecuing with his buddies, smoking cigars, brewing beer, etc.). (Which is why we believe he is living at the business). After two months of NO returned phone calls and NO updates , he finally told us they don't do repairs on this unit anymore (wouldn't he have known that the first week or two??) Like other customers have experienced, he never returned our telephone calls and when we confronted him in person, he acted like we were out of line (after three months of being strung out by him). When he finally agreed to complete the repair, he left loose wires hanging on the floor and only 3/4 of the speakers working with a glib response that "yeah, the speakers don't work". In hindsight I would order a repaired OEM radio online and install it myself. read more

I have had the pleasure of doing business here several times and had nothing but great service and quality repairs. The staff is knowledgable and friendly and the shop has some interesting curios to look at while there. I highly recommend this shop for any and all electronic repairs. read more

Larry was absolutely WONDERFUL! I had an adapter put in my Lexus so I could listen to my ITunes through my car speakers. He was very reasonable in fees and quick and arranged a time the fit my working schedule on a Saturday. It worked fabulouly and sure beats the quote I got from another through Lexus that wanted to charge me $500.00 with whistle and bells I did not want or need. I highly recommend him and his business, so glad I know about him now for future reference too. He has so much to offer and just call he really knows what he is doing and he does it the best and such a nice person to deal with. read more

i am writing this for the 2nd time as i realized this guy has a strategy on ripping people off. Anyone dropping off devices to be fixed he will 'milk' and take his time. His policy of charging you ahead for diagnostic is part of this strategy, "to do nothing for 6 weeks" then only to tell you (IF YOU CALL HIM, HE DOES NOT CALL YOU BACK) that it needs more money to fix. DO NOT BRING YOUR DEVICES TO THIS GUY. you will be sorry. read other people's 1 star feedback and you will see a pattern here. Sometimes I wonder about these 4-5 stars if these people are lucky and I am just unlucky or if this guy at Microtech profiles or has mood swings to rip people off. read more

No hassle install and Larry knows what he is doing. I had Microtech install a stereo in my wife's car with Bluetooth, repair a door lock and car alarm. Larry did an excellent job putting it all together and getting it working after many frustrating years of having it not work. He also took the time to show me how the stereo and all of the settings worked. Got the job done quickly and at a good price. I will recommend him to everyone I know. read more

I have 2015 GMC Yukon/Chevrolet Tahoe that the rear DVD picture went out. Larry was very honest and up-front about the repair. Dealer would just swap out my unit with a refurbished one $575. Larry saved me a ton by just replacing the ribbon cable a common problem with these. Give Larry a call with your Audio or Video needs. read more

What a find! Larry is informative, straight forward and knowledgeable. We were trying to decide if we should replace a car DC player (yes, we are old and still play CDs). The dealer quoted an outrageous amount to replace and Larry walked us through all the options and even suggested we not do anything at the present since the problem is intermittent and he told us how to "reset" when it shuts down. And did not charge us anything for the 20 minute consult. So, we did not use him this time, but in time I know we will be back. And I will refer him to all our friends and neighbors. read more

I visited 3 different shops regarding upgrading my car-audio system. All three were well rated on Yelp, however, I felt Larry at Microtech was by far the most honest and straightforward. Larry has 30 years in the business and knows car audio inside and out. He is not a salesman, but a highly skilled pro. I highly recommend him and his firm. read more

This place is awesome. Larry is a really good, honest guy. He gave me an estimate as soon as I came through the door and took a look at everything I had. He asked me how I wanted the work done, and did everything exactly how I wanted. Another great thing is how fast he got it all done. He got it done in around two hours and he installed two 12' subwoofers and amp for me. The pricing here blows a lot of others places away by far it's definitely way more affordable then any of the other places I got quoted at. Definitely a business that deserves 5-stars for the pricing and work done. read more

I drove away , much happier than I'd expected. Very fair pricing and excellent work! I'd recommend this place every time

I needed to install a navigation system in my 2005 Ford pickup truck for a long road trip.  Microtech came highly recommended by a few people I knew.  The owner, Larry made recommendations to me regarding the equipment that I needed.  All of this knowledge was very valuable to me since there are so many choices to pick from and I could have easily purchased the wrong thing(s). He installed everything in under a day including four great speakers, cameras and the stereo with navigation.  I was very satisfied and I plan to use him for the next job. read more

Absolute great service. Chose this place off the reviews and it lived up to the hype. I was seen immediately and he solved me problem within minutes. Fixed my pioneer system and remote within no time. Great price and great service. Highly recommended read more

Check him out for all your audio needs! Larry is a pretty cool dude. I love my new system and thanks to him I have a great sounding system.

Larry was fantastic. He installed a license plate backup camera and flat screen TV into my 2004 RV. Sounds easy but wasn't due to the age of the vehicle. He was very efficient and cost effective. Highly recommended read more

I brought my nakamichi car stereo to this place for repair. The owner/technician is not honest enough to admit that he cannot fix this kind of system . Instead he wanted me to leave my car and he will take a look at it. After a whole day of looking he called me and told me that he will charge $285 to fix it. Since I was desperate I agreed. Lo and behold it wasn't fixed. I told him about it and the con artist his last name is Rubalcava said this," I can order another part if you come back. I don't know the price yet." Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. I went to a different car audio repair shop and the technician there told me that nobody in San Diego county can fix a Nakamichi stereo system of a Lexus ES 300 year 2000. They advised me to remove the stereo myself and send it to United Audio in New York. I'm telling this long story so you will NOT become a victim of this con man Rubalcava, dishonest and does not have integrity. He is a con artist not a skilled technician. read more

The service was amazing. He was able to replace the back speakers in my car quickly. I can actually listen to music again and enjoy it. The sound is amazing. Thank you! read more

I called Larry for a quote on installing a double din unit with bluetooth and a backup camera in my 2004 Durango. Larry suggested options that will save me over $300. Larry it a very honest guy and makes every effort to save you money. With the extra savings, I decided to finally have bluetooth installed in my 2007 Prius and bought one from Toyota. Larry installed it and explained all functions clearly. It works great and I'm so happy I found Larry! I would recommend Larry to all friends and family. read more

Hands down, the worst repair experience ever. Take 1: Took a Peavey Classic VTX Hybrid tube amp in for repair. I was told I would hear something back in a week or so. Months went by with no word. I followed up and was then told it would be done by the end of the week. When I got the amp back it sounded dreadful. It powered on and produced sound, but that's about it. Total cost about $200.00. I took it to a different tech who repaired it properly and said there were so many things wired wrong it was astonishing. In an effort to give Microtech a second chance and not have to resort to asking for a refund I gave them two solid state amps that needed repair. I was told they'd get to them shortly. After 3 or 4 months of hearing nothing, I sent a tech friend by there to pick up the one amp which was promptly repaired. The power amp I left with them is still there. After posting this review, I doubt I'll ever see it again. read more

I took my Teac cassette their for repair and was informed the belts needed to be replaced. Paid for the repair which was over $100 and took the deck home to play some tapes and it didnt work. Took it back to the shop and a week later picked it back up and it seemed to work ok. About a month later stopped working again and this time took it to Classic Audio repair which has worked on other audio gear of mine. Picked up this weekend and it works great - problem was a belt that supposed to have been replaced was not. Very disappointed in service centers that charge for repairs and are not done correctly. read more

When I thought all hope was lost, Larry was much obliged to help in anyway he could. Most other stereo shops would've turned me away. Lets start from the beginning. Valentine's Day I had planned on having a stereo installed for my GF's Jeep Wrangler. It was simple plan, hit up a stereo shop near my work, leave my car while I was at work, and pick up vehicle when I got off work. Lunch came around and I went looking for the 3 stereo shops that were listed on Yelp. I crap you not, the 2 out of 3 shops I went to didn't exist and the 3rd shop didn't work on stereos, only wheels and tires. But, Yelp listed the shop as a Stereo Shop. Now my lunch is almost over and I am already thinking of alternative gifts to get my GF. I noticed this shop when my lunch was done and gave them a ring. Larry heard my situation and was helpful to come over and take a look from my work. This guy took his own time when he could've helped another customer to assist me. After he did a quick consultation he told me what I needed. At first, I thought, "A stereo shop that specifically does installations/repairs only? No products on hand?" Larry could've turned the job down due to the complications but, he was more than willing to accommodate. So, after a quick call to Fry's Electronics, I had the equipment needed to get the job done. Who went to pick up the equipment you ask? Larry not only took his time to help me, he went miles out of his way to pick up equipment and pay for it since I couldn't pay over the phone. In this day in age, having faith in others are far and few, and I am grateful for his good judge of character. It only took him an hour to get my stereo installed and on Valentine's day no less. His prices were more than fair for the services they can provide. You have gained a loyal customer and I look forward to your services in the future. read more

After doing a lot of research on installing a rear view camera for my wife's car we settled on Microtech in Escondido. Larry was so helpful and even sent us Amazon links for suggested hardware. My wife is very picky but even she had rave reviews of how great the service was. Larry even honored the competitive install price listed on Amazon. I can't imagine how it could have been a better experience. read more
