When I got there he told me I needed a few extra pieces because I had purchased the wrong ones. He advised me to pick up parts somewhere else to save myself some cash-- also which he did not have to do.. Affordable Great Repair Shop!!! I tried to install a double din deck in my 2000 Acura Integra. The stock system was Bose, and I had all sorts of issues. Luckily I cruised through Yelp found this shop and he took me in on the same day. My car was in pieces. He had to keep it due to the fact I needed a special adapter, but when I got it back it was "cherry." He added and loaded all the futures showed me how they worked. The price was great!!! His policy of charging you ahead for diagnostic is part of this strategy, "to do nothing for 6 weeks" then only to tell you (IF YOU CALL HIM, HE DOES NOT CALL YOU BACK) that it needs more money to fix. Come to find out they have been doing quality repairs on ALL audio equipment from the same location for twenty years. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND DON'T PAY IN ADVANCE!!! Larry, the owner, appears to be down to living in his business, barely scraping by! The death of this business is swirling the bottom of the toilet. It took him THREE MONTHS, April 2015 to July 2015, after repeated unanswered phone calls to him, to install an aux jack (it doesn't work anymore) and replace our OEM stereo (we were told our OEM stereo would be sent out and repaired). But our $250. check to him was cashed the day after we gave it to him! Initially he advised it would take a week or two to have the OEM car stereo sent out and repaired. We paid upfront (HUGE mistake) and waited for a call to return for installation which never came. After countless telephone calls from us and no return calls from him we began dropping by the business during business hours to find the doors closed. The only way we were able to contact him was by going to the business after hours or on Saturdays and go around to the back of the business (where we found him barbecuing with his buddies, smoking cigars, brewing beer, etc.). (Which is why we believe he is living at the business). After two months of NO returned phone calls and NO updates , he finally told us they don't do repairs on this unit anymore (wouldn't he have known that the first week or two??) Like other customers have experienced, he never returned our telephone calls and when we confronted him in person, he acted like we were out of line (after three months of being strung out by him). When he finally agreed to complete the repair, he left loose wires hanging on the floor and only 3/4 of the speakers working with a glib response that "yeah, the speakers don't work". In hindsight I would order a repaired OEM radio online and install it myself. read more

Larry was absolutely WONDERFUL! I had an adapter put in my Lexus so I could listen to my ITunes through my car speakers. He was very reasonable in fees and quick and arranged a time the fit my working schedule on a Saturday. It worked fabulouly and sure beats the quote I got from another through Lexus that wanted to charge me $500.00 with whistle and bells I did not want or need. I highly recommend him and his business, so glad I know about him now for future reference too. What a find! Larry is informative, straight forward and knowledgeable. We were trying to decide if we should replace a car DC player (yes, we are old and still play CDs). The dealer quoted an outrageous amount to replace and Larry walked us through all the options and even suggested we not do anything at the present since the problem is intermittent and he told us how to "reset" when it shuts down. I brought my nakamichi car stereo to this place for repair. The owner/technician is not honest enough to admit that he cannot fix this kind of system . Instead he wanted me to leave my car and he will take a look at it. After a whole day of looking he called me and told me that he will charge $285 to fix it. Since I was desperate I agreed. Lo and behold it wasn't fixed. I told him about it and the con artist his last name is Rubalcava said this," I can order another part if you come back. I don't know the price yet." Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. I went to a different car audio repair shop and the technician there told me that nobody in San Diego county can fix a Nakamichi stereo system of a Lexus ES 300 year 2000. They advised me to remove the stereo myself and send it to United Audio in New York. I'm telling this long story so you will NOT become a victim of this con man Rubalcava, dishonest and does not have integrity. He is a con artist not a skilled technician. read more

This place is awesome. Larry is a really good, honest guy. He gave me an estimate as soon as I came through the door and took a look at everything I had. He asked me how I wanted the work done, and did everything exactly how I wanted. Another great thing is how fast he got it all done. I called Larry for a quote on installing a double din unit with bluetooth and a backup camera in my 2004 Durango. Larry suggested options that will save me over $300. Larry it a very honest guy and makes every effort to save you money. With the extra savings, I decided to finally have bluetooth installed in my 2007 Prius and bought one from Toyota. Hands down, the worst repair experience ever. Take 1: Took a Peavey Classic VTX Hybrid tube amp in for repair. I was told I would hear something back in a week or so. Months went by with no word. I followed up and was then told it would be done by the end of the week. When I got the amp back it sounded dreadful. It powered on and produced sound, but that's about it. Total cost about $200.00. I took it to a different tech who repaired it properly and said there were so many things wired wrong it was astonishing. In an effort to give Microtech a second chance and not have to resort to asking for a refund I gave them two solid state amps that needed repair. I was told they'd get to them shortly. After 3 or 4 months of hearing nothing, I sent a tech friend by there to pick up the one amp which was promptly repaired. The power amp I left with them is still there. After posting this review, I doubt I'll ever see it again. read more

If i could give zero stars i would.... microtech has stolen $218.19 from us!! hubby brought our radio/cd player from our 2004 envoy to be sent back for repair and we never received it nor did we receive a refund!!! We have contacted them a number of times via phone and email with no response!! this happened back in sept. 2014!!!!! Buyer beward and find someone else to do business with.... I took my Teac cassette their for repair and was informed the belts needed to be replaced. Paid for the repair which was over $100 and took the deck home to play some tapes and it didnt work. Took it back to the shop and a week later picked it back up and it seemed to work ok. About a month later stopped working again and this time took it to Classic Audio repair which has worked on other audio gear of mine. Picked up this weekend and it works great - problem was a belt that supposed to have been replaced was not. Very disappointed in service centers that charge for repairs and are not done correctly. read more

When I thought all hope was lost, Larry was much obliged to help in anyway he could. Most other stereo shops would've turned me away. Lets start from the beginning. Valentine's Day I had planned on having a stereo installed for my GF's Jeep Wrangler. It was simple plan, hit up a stereo shop near my work, leave my car while I was at work, and pick up vehicle when I got off work. Lunch came around and I went looking for the 3 stereo shops that were listed on Yelp. I crap you not, the 2 out of 3 shops I went to didn't exist and the 3rd shop didn't work on stereos, only wheels and tires. But, Yelp listed the shop as a Stereo Shop. Now my lunch is almost over and I am already thinking of alternative gifts to get my GF. I noticed this shop when my lunch was done and gave them a ring. Larry heard my situation and was helpful to come over and take a look from my work. This guy took his own time when he could've helped another customer to assist me. After he did a quick consultation he told me what I needed. At first, I thought, "A stereo shop that specifically does installations/repairs only? No products on hand?" Larry could've turned the job down due to the complications but, he was more than willing to accommodate. So, after a quick call to Fry's Electronics, I had the equipment needed to get the job done. Who went to pick up the equipment you ask? Larry not only took his time to help me, he went miles out of his way to pick up equipment and pay for it since I couldn't pay over the phone. In this day in age, having faith in others are far and few, and I am grateful for his good judge of character. It only took him an hour to get my stereo installed and on Valentine's day no less. Larry is wonderful. I have a radio that is in a very rare Excalibur Phaeton which is an old classic car. The radio was 32 years old and only one other person said they would try to fix it and they wanted to start at $250.00, who knows how much it would have finally cost. Or others tried to sell me a new system for $500.00 plus. Most just told me it couldn't be fixed or that it wasn't worth it. Larry started at $68.00 and for a little more got it fixed in a very short time. There were many many things that were wrong with it. It has worked great ever since. He is a wizard with electronics. He is honest. That is the most important part. I shopped all over and his prices cant be beat. I will always refer friends to him and know they will be treated right. Don't waste your time or money by going anywhere else besides Larry at Microtech. I was a psychologist for over 20 years and I feel a good judge of character from experience.
