We went a few weeks after opening, definitely can tell they have some work to do. First we were sat at tables outside (enclosed/covered) and started raining pretty good, and leaking all over us. We asked to move tables and they sat us at one that literally wobbled more than an 18 month old, so we moved again. Besides the seating issues, food was not very good, drinks were over priced (asked for one without ice and they gave us a shot...) and unfortunately won't be back again. My daughter suggested we join her at Azotea Cantina in Roswell this weekend, and we were all pleasantly surprised. The food, service, and overall atmosphere were positive. Our server Keara was friendly, helpful and very attentive. She took time to answer all of our questions regarding the menu and made some good recommendations. We started with the queso dip and blue corn chips. I enjoyed the Tacos Tres Amigos that comes with a shrimp, steak and chicken taco and a side of rice and black beans. All the food tasted fresh and flavorful. While Mexican food would not always be my first choice, I definitely enjoyed Azotea Cantina. It's a great addition to the Roswell area, and I encourage everyone to try it and help ensure its future success. I would definitely consider returning the next time my daughter is in town. I was pleasantly surprised by how positive our experience was at Azotea given the mixed reviews. We were seated outside on the patio during a fairly quiet Saturday afternoon. At the time, our server seemed to be the only front of house employee. He did inform us that the restaurant was understaffed (as noted by the now hiring sign on the door) so our food might take a little longer than usual, but it was not all that longer than typical. That being said, the food honestly exceeded our expectations and tasted like decently fresh ingredients and solid flavor. The restaurant was beautiful and would be fun to go to with a group. The place is really nice inside. The service was pretty good. My food came out fast, but there were only two other people in the restaurant. My tacos were really good. I ordered the fried chicken tacos and black beans. The black beans were pretty flavorless. I'm always shocked at how many people don't know how to cook staples like this anymore. This is a nice restaurant and cute on the inside. I was here with a party of 20 for my friends birthday. They put us upstairs and it was just us up there, which was nice. It was pretty hot though and we asked them to turn the AC on, which they did but it was still pretty hot. Almost all of us ordered tacos. I ordered the Bistec Alambre. The tacos were good! I wished they allowed you to mix & match your tacos. I didn't really want 3 of the same taco but you can't order just 1 taco. The order automatically comes with 3. First time at Azotea and it won't be my last. The Brussel sprouts were amazing and paired well with the carne asado tacos. The space is beautiful and the service is excellent. The menu is a little smaller than I expected, but the "specials of the day" made up for it. In fact, my hubby had the special which was Colorado Ribs (short rib over a bed of sweet potato mash). Visited for the first time last night. Located in an up and coming area of Roswell. Loved that there was easy parking nearby in a deck. Unfortunately, was not at all impressed by this restaurant. I will say - the margaritas were very good. Not to sweet. Enjoyed them a lot. The food was just not good. We started with a salsa trio. The salsa came in the tiniest cups - not even 1/2 inch deep. How does one dip chips into cups like these?? We also ordered queso. It was just thick and not very flavorful. I ordered fish tacos. Again, not much flavor. A couple of pieces of fried fish with some shredded cabbage and radishes. I think this restaurant focuses too much on presentation of their food - and not enough on flavor. Azotea Cantina is AMAZING! The restaurant ambiance is so nice and new, in a super fun area. Our server was very friendly, and the food came out super fast. They also offered free beer for Father's Day, which was so nice. We had the Salsa Trio and Queso as an appetizer! The Salsa Trio came with Salsa Verde, Normal, and a unique Pumpkin-Seed one. All had their own unique flavor! The queso is also delicious, and comes with interesting blue chips. The tacos were all amazing! I had the Chicken Al Carbon, which was so tasty and had pineapple on it. The Tacos De Birria were also so tasty! The corn tortillas were amazing. read more

Wanted to try the new Alpharetta location and I must say that I really enjoyed the atmosphere. They had a live band and the patio is large. I tried the chicken, steak and pork belly tacos. My favorite was the Pork belly because it was really tender. I tried a few of the various margaritas and cocktails. They all were a bit too sweet for my liking but the bartenders were all very nice. Weeks ago I made a reservation for 20 people here for my birthday, calling last week to update the final # and confirm. On Saturday, there were light flurries in Roswell. The roads were perfectly fine that evening - not a bit of snow or ice. However, the restaurant closed without ever notifying me. I found out when my friend arrived at 6:55 for a 7 PM reservation to see a sign on the door and the lights off. This caused obviously a big panic and very stressful start to my birthday because all of my friends were just arriving, and I had no place for a dinner. Luckily Bey Mediterranean came in for the rescue and was able to see us all to have a lovely dinner that night. Note, I had just in case checked social media that day to ensure that they were open... They were posting random post about food that day, but nothing about being closed. On top of that, all of the other restaurants in Southern Post were open (and on Canton Street), so given that and the fact that the roads were fine there was no reason to believe that this restaurant would be closed that evening without notice. It's now Tuesday, and nobody has ever reached out to me. That day someone was able to clearly post on social media, put a sign on the door, alert all their employees... but completely dismiss their reservations for the evening. It's really a wild way to run a new business, especially when with so much local competition. The place looked really cool but now me and my large group of friends have deservedly written it off. read more

A great addition to the Canton Street area. Stylish Mexico City-style cantina and restaurant. Nice selection of tacos; my pork belly was yummy and the fried fish was, too. Service was excellent. They're still working out some kinks. Parking is supposed to be free but their voucher system wasn't working. Our waiter apologized and handed us coupons for free appetizers. Parking was only $4. Appetizers, some were in the $15 range. I'll take that any day. Definitely worth a visit. read more

New spot in the Southern Post complex. Dined late afternoon on Mother's Day.such a beautiful decor & friendly welcoming from the hosts. We were immediately seated @ our table. Our waiter brought me a rose & offered a mimosa. We started out with their salsa trio. The blue chips were crisp & the salsas very flavorful. My fav was the green salsa. The other 2 had a kick! My hubby had the Brisket Burrito, which was filled with lots of meat & topped with queso. He loved it. I had the fish tacos. They were tasty...they have lots of choices in tacos....something for all...our server was great & checked on us several times! Will be back to try the guacamole & shrimp cocktail! Love Mexican food and was excited to try this place. Went in mid-evening on a weeknight with my family. Waited to be sat. There was only one table of six in the whole restaurant. The bartender eventually came to seat us. As she walked us to our table a cook came out from behind the kitchen openly chewing food. We were sat next to the one table of six who were being obnoxiously loud. Looked over the menu. The cook having a full mouth of food was a turn-off. The waitress took a long time to come to our table considering no one else was there for her to wait on, so by that point we decided to leave. The vibe was off. Not sure how this place is going to stay in business. If they're not busy, staff won't be able to make good tips so they won't be able to recruit and hold onto good staff. And if they don't employ people who provide good service, customers won't return...too many other close-by options. Not sure we'll ever be back... read more

So I would like to be able to review the food but I never got to eat anything other than the free chips and salsa. This place is a disaster. Never even got water, napkins or silverware. We walked in and they were not busy. We asked to sit on the patio and there were only 4 other tables seated out there, host barely spoke to us. We were given menus and a bit later someone dropped off chips and salsa. Saw who was (presumably) our server at a nearby table but she never came over to us. We also saw who appeared to be a manager or lead taking drinks to a nearby table, zero sense of urgency from that person. We finished the chips and waited so long the bus boy came over again with chips like we were new. We told him we hadn't seen a server yet, could he send someone over. I saw him tell the server assigned to our area but she seemed busy entering an order for what seemed like an inordinate amount of time for the one table and had zero sense of urgency. She then came over to the seating area TWICE and brought the check and boxes for table directly next to us and never once looked our way or even said "I'm so sorry, I will be right over". Nada. We left after that. I would guess it was 20 minutes of sitting at the table without even being acknowledged. You can tell they aren't properly trained or managed in here because they don't work as a team, the menus were dirty and neither they nor the tables were properly cleaned when we sat down. The bartender was also not busy but she never looked our way or even brought water over, not even when I walked up to the bar to get a napkin because we didn't have any at our table, but you know she was right there watching soccer and petting a dog that was sitting at the bar. Customer service was lacking from top to bottom. I'm not even sure anyone noticed we left. That said, we went to another place nearby and paid quite a lot more but at least we had good service and good food. read more

Last night's visit to Azotea Cantina in Roswell was, unfortunately, one of the worst dining experiences I've had in some time. My party was seated promptly and our original server, Oscar, took our drink orders without issue. However, after placing a second round of cocktails and preparing to order entrées, Oscar apparently walked out mid-shift. We were left at our table for well over 30 minutes with empty glasses, no updates, and no opportunity to order food. It wasn't until the 45-minute mark--after we flagged down another staff member--that we learned our server had quit. No one from management ever visited the table, offered an apology, or explained how the restaurant planned to remedy the situation. A different server eventually stepped in, but by then the evening felt irreparably derailed. A quick apology and some proactive communication from management could have salvaged the night; instead, we felt ignored and undervalued. Given the number of quality dining options in Roswell, this level of service is unacceptable. I hope the team at Azotea treats this as an opportunity to improve training and guest communication, because I'd like to return someday--but only if they can demonstrate a genuine commitment to customer care. read more

Really trying to like this place. One of the only local spots with a happy hour past 5pm- drink specials are nothing special but I love the happy hour nachos, which aren't on the regular menu. We have been 4-5 times (I really like to give a spot several chances before writing something negative) and the host is always disinterested in our existence, and servers are never too attentive/ enthusiastic even though the restaurant is usually empty. Some plates are good- nachos, quesadillas but the queso fundido is truly terrible and empanadas are REALLY doughy. I think this spot has a good concept but needs to look in intrinsically at their offerings if they want to survive in a competitive market (especially steps away from the fabulous pure) read more

One of the Worst Dining Experiences I've Ever Had Let me start by saying -- I don't complain lightly. I worked in restaurants as a server and bartender for over 10 years, so I fully understand the demands of food prep, bar service, and customer care. I dine out often, I'm a generous tipper (always over 20%), and when I find a place I like, I become a loyal regular. I was genuinely excited to try Azoteca Mexican Restaurant in the Southern Post plaza. I've been watching for their opening and had reviewed the menu in advance. I arrived right after they opened (11:01 AM), and the hostess mentioned the bartender would be happy to open the windows to the outdoor bar patio. That's where the experience immediately soured. When I relayed the hostess's message to the bartender, she rolled her eyes and seemed visibly annoyed that I'd asked. Still, I approached the situation kindly and mentioned this was my first visit -- an opportunity I'd expect any bar staff to take with a bit of enthusiasm. Instead, I was met with silence and cold, clipped answers. I asked if chips and salsa were brought out, as is typical with most Mexican restaurants. Her response? "If you look at the menu in front of you, you'll see that you can order salsa." Not exactly warm or inviting. I asked for recommendations and again reminded her this was my first time. She said, "Well, as you can see on the menu, we serve tacos. So tacos are our specialty." When she finally mentioned she liked the nachos, I asked how big the portion was so I could decide whether I needed to order something else. Her response? "Umm... they're nachos." When I asked for a little more clarity, she replied, "I can't go get you a plate... they come in our salad bowl." I had no idea how large their salad bowls were -- hence my question. It was clear that any inquiry from me was irritating to her. I still ordered the nachos (with no cilantro), though I was now uneasy. When they arrived, they looked unappetizing -- the chicken was swimming in a heavy sauce, something not mentioned on the menu. That's something a staff member might flag when someone orders for the first time. I asked if I could get some diced tomatoes -- not an unreasonable request, especially since their pico de gallo clearly contains them. The bartender reacted as though I was speaking a foreign language. After several minutes and a long explanation, she yelled to the chef across the restaurant asking for diced tomatoes. He asked "why," and then both turned to look directly at me -- the only customer there -- and rolled their eyes before disappearing into the kitchen together. When she returned with the tomatoes, I apologized for being a bother and explained again that most Mexican restaurants I've been to in the metro Atlanta area serve nachos with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, salsa, etc. She replied, "We weren't rolling our eyes -- we just had never heard of anyone asking for diced tomatoes before." Are you serious? The attitude and passive aggression were undeniable. I felt belittled, judged, and completely unwelcome. I was so upset I couldn't even eat the food. My hands were shaking. I felt physically sick. I've never been treated so poorly in a restaurant -- especially for simply being curious and asking reasonable questions. Without me even asking, the manager comped the nachos -- which tells me they knew something was wrong. But the manager never came over to check in or hear my side of the story. That's disappointing. I paid for my drink, tipped $2 on a $6.36 tab, and left -- heartbroken by how I was treated in a place I had looked forward to trying for so long. I ended up going to another restaurant in the same plaza -- one where I'm treated with kindness and respect. They were shocked by what I described and immediately made me feel welcome. Final Thoughts: This could have been such a different experience. All I was looking for was a warm welcome, a little guidance on the menu, and a chance to enjoy a new local spot. Instead, I left feeling humiliated and shaken. I will not return, and I truly hope Azoteca takes this feedback seriously -- because no one should feel this way for simply asking questions and trying to enjoy a meal. read more

Corn tortilla chips are not gluten free :D Biggest red flag. Ordered the Redfish and it was served with a rice that resembled a sort of rice pudding: yum! Guac was all right. The redfish itself looked kind of good but it tasted like breathing air. The "salad" that came with it was literally just raw avocado and raw greens with little to no seasoning. For mexican in Roswell I'll go to Pure or Ceviche! Hope they improve. If I hear good things I'll give them a second a chance but for now it is a hard pass. read more

Hanging music bounce all over 30" ceilings all night was a poor look. Couldn't hear yourself think.
