This is a cozy little spot, but what they may not have in decor they certainly splurge on flavor and friendly service. I believe it's a "mom and pop" shop, and the hostess was friendly and helpful, checking on me that the food was good. It was tasty and with a nice kick of spice! My main was relatively simple, their mango chicken curry. The stew base was hearty and pretty generous with the chicken in both quantity and taste. The amount of heat was perfect, with enough delicious heat. My bowl of basmati rice was well grained and balanced the heat nicely. Oh and did I mention the fluffy, warm and buttery naan bread? It is worth making that your cheat meal! I'm holding off the fifth star because I want to check out a few other of their spicier plates. Glad to have this neighborhood gem nearby!

The vegetables were a little bit chewy, almost like pre frozen and dropped into the yummy sauce. There were far too many pieces of carrots too. BUT the sauce was divine. I also tried their peshwari naan which was piping hot. I really enjoyed it, but it was more like a dessert as there was a sweet coconut oil that was poured on top. Still I enjoyed it!

Everything was delicious! I loved the pani puri, the short rib dosa and the tikka fries. It was nice to have 6 people so that we could try more dishes, and we still had leftovers. For dessert, we had the sticky date cake, which came with ginger ice cream. We had a wonderful time and service was great too! They validate parking tickets from the garage for 2 hours.

A horrible dining experience at Ghee Indian Kitchen…read more The restaurant has a very nice ambiance. The decor is sophisticated and modern, and the lighting is pleasant, perfect for a date. I also liked that the kitchen is open and integrated with the dining room. However, the service was terrible from the moment I arrived. I had an OpenTable reservation and stood waiting over 15 minutes at the host stand. The host disappeared, leaving me standing awkwardly in the middle of the server pathway while servers carrying trays had to ask me to move. I ordered the tasting menu. The snacks were the best part of the night: * Yellowfin Tuna Bhel: Spectacular, the best dish of the entire night. * Samosa Chaat: Quite good. * Green Papaya Salad: Average. * Charred Corn: Good but nothing special. * Crispy Broccoli: Phenomenal, one of the highlights. * Peri Peri Chicken Wings: Good, especially the sauce. However, after the snacks they made me wait more than 20 minutes with an empty table (the restaurant was half empty) before bringing any main courses. The main courses were very disappointing: * Chicken Tikka Masala: The worst I've ever had. Extremely bland. * Kerala Lamb Curry: Very average and completely flavorless. * Dal Makhani: Decent, the only acceptable as a side. * Turmeric Marinated Fish Curry: Excellent, the only main worth eating. * Seed Naan: Served burnt (they replaced it after I complained). The servers mumbled so badly when explaining the dishes that it was nearly impossible to understand what I was eating. In a tasting menu, having clear and proper explanations of each dish before eating it is very important, and that was completely lacking. I also asked four times for the house spicy sauce to two different servers and it was never brought. To make matters WORSE, when a friend stopped by to say hello and tried just two bites of my food, the staff aggressively confronted and pressured me, insisting that he had to pay for a full tasting menu. Their behavior made me feel like I was being scammed and left me extremely uncomfortable. I went very excited to this restaurant because of the great reviews, but it was a big letdown that completely ruined my date and dinner experience.

It was about 2:30 PM Saturday afternoon. It was surprising that the restaurant was empty. As I was reading the menu in the window, a young woman asked if I would like to come in and read the menu. The restaurant is not large, but very nicely decorated. The young lady was part of the family owned restaurant and we had a very interesting conversation while I waited for my food. I ordered chicken tikka, mild, rosemary nan, and raita. The chicken was absolutely deliciously marinated in a variety of fresh spices and herbs, and tenderized by soaking in milk. It was prepared in a tandoori oven, at least it was under the 'tandoori' listing on menu. The flavor was wonderful and melted in my mouth. Everything was so good, even the fresh brewed tea. I can't wait to go back. The pricing is also very reasonable. My experience was even nicer as I got to converse with another family member about their business and Indian cuisine in general. I live in Fort Lauderdale, and probably won't be able to travel down as often as I would like, but I honestly highly recommend Swagat if you like Indian food!

Ambiance is fine but in my opinion it's better as a takeout spot.
