Try to avoid this restaurant. Everything went bad.. actually pretty bad. Starting from the table assignment to billing, not good at all. Food: veg kadai . Menu says tofu in it and they gave with panner, no tofu at all. Yes it matters when people are allergic to paneer and you are forced to pay what you didn't order. Even worse thing is that they try to justify it and speak about it only when I asked Chicken 65 : horrible, they gave 65 with Manchurian sauce. Samosa chat: didn't taste good. Lot of samosa crust Crumbles which spoiled the whole taste. Water: No water on table til I asked for it. They just got me a bottled water and when asked for an alternative they said tap water and the restaurant people drink the alkaline bottled water every time but not the tap water. Billing: Service charge adds by default and after service charge they charged 27$ additional which is not in the bill. They mentioned that banks hold this additional amount for couple days. I am not sure in this additional amount, I will wait for couple days and check on it Food is worse and the service , attitude of the people is even worse. After being out of home for 7 days, we started craving some Indian food finally. I am not a big fan of Indian restaurants in touristy towns because they tend to serve Indian cuisine in name adjusted to flavors that tourists like but craving won. This place is not a service oriented joint. They started by getting us a bottle of water and disposable glasses without telling us that the bottle costs $8 for plain water. We had our own bottled water and we returned theirs. Then we ordered Paneer wings and chicken 65. Chicken 65 was spicy but flavorful and the paneer wasn't bad either but it had a bunch of Tofu pieces and when complained about it, the server said they confirmed with kitchen, we are mistaken and its is indeed paneer. Nothing pisses me off more than something like this. The rest of the food was decent but the size of the naan is as small as I have ever seen. I think this restaurant wants to maximize revenue from a customer in one visit because they figure that most of their clientele is tourists and they will not come back anyway. Please do not believe some of the 1-star reviews on here -- many of which seem like bots. It is a tragedy that this place isn't rated more highly than it is. The food is out of this world. Truly. We live in Washington DC which is full of Indian restaurants and this is quite possibly the best I've ever had. We ordered the gobi cauliflower, tofu tikka masala, and then a off-menu chickpea/tofu/potato curry that our server said he would make for us special. It was all divine. Sucks! If you are an Indian, you wouldn't want to eat at this place. The dishes here lack authenticity and don't live up to their name. The Bhel puri had a lot of tamarind sauce added to it that made it tough to eat. The buns in the pav bhaji were burnt black. The biriyani did not have salt in it. Service is poor. We got two water bottles for a party of 3. The staff did not bother to help us out when these concerns were brought up. Too expensive for bad food. Dal tadka- plz it was mix veg with daal. Never seen Gobhi in dal tadka. It was also blunt in taste and I asked for spicy dal tadka and they mixed green chilii, means come on Dude. First things first, Indian restaurants in general have terrible service. They're not trained in understanding things from a customer's perspective. They generally lack qualified servers with actual experience and are not cognizant of western culture or have empathy. They neither care nor have a will to improve the customer experience. They usually employ family members or other Indian people that are in school or grinding and paying them under the table at subpar wages to avoid violating student visa laws and cutting costs. They will not properly greet you and you must realize that they're clueless about the standard, "welcome to..Can I start you off with a drink"....etc. In addition, you will constantly be forced to flag down waiters to get the basics of the dining experience. I'm telling you all of this because you need to anchor your expectations. The bar is very low. This isn't Applebee's and you won't get that feel from the moment you walk in to leaving. There is no such thing as service with a smile. Excellent Indian restaurants do exist, however, they're a very small minority and are located in expensive metropolitan areas. People eat at Indian restaurants for the deliciousness of the food period. Now let's talk about Bombay Grill. All of the hallmarks of terrible customer experience exist. However, I have come to expect that and have learned to tolerate and ignore it. What underscores this terrible establishment are the following: 1. Menu had all of the South Indian dishes marked as "not available" using a sharpie on the actual menu 2. Most popular North Indian dishes are not listed and have to be specially requested 3. Half the appetizers were not available and the waiter had to check the back to make sure 4. Simple drinks like Chai had to be checked in the back to see if it was available 5. The waiter also febreezed the place after we sat down at a table that he told us to simply choose Finally, the chai came out to my wife in a metal cup placed in a metal bowl making it impossible to touch because of the temperature. A small metal cup of raw sugar was placed next to it. My wife took a spoonful of sugar to the chai. As she later put the spoon down into the sugar bowl, she SPOONED OUT A DEAD BUG! The waiter was nowhere to be found in an empty restaurant! We had to flag someone else to inspect it. She took it to the back, the waiter came back and apologized, and we told him we're leaving. A new low for Indian restaurants and the bar continues to fall. My advice to you - please avoid at all costs. There are plenty of other nice restaurants in south beach. read more

This is pretty much the only choice if you are looking for Indian food around the Ocean Dr in Miami Beach. The place is well decorated with beautiful pictures hanging all around the walls and are pretty ambient and quick in service. However, when I crave Indian food and isn't satisfied with my appetite I loose all the impression. Their food is very bland and NOT authentic. The biryani was the biggest disaster. I also ordered two other curries and a samosa chat which were decent. My verdict: if you are a South Indian and looking for some traditional blend this place will not match your expectation. I just never do this but I've been ordering to this restaurant I think for more than a year, almost twice per month, sometimes even once per week and they are just so amazing!!! I am not easy because I'm always afraid of cross contamination. I am a strict VEGAN and to me that's something restaurants should take serious, like allergies, and this people just do!!! The food is ok( nothing special); however, the service needs improvement. There is only one server and she is clearly not trained. While she runs around to do the job, it is evident that she is overwhelmed and confused. During our first visit, we were seated at a particular table at first. Once we settled down ( older folks and kids with us), they asked us to switch to another table with no chairs. We stood for a little bit before they got us chairs. On another occasion, since it was the evening of Thanksgiving, most restaurants were closed, so we ended up going there again. The place was crowded, so we decided to get a to-go order. The lady gave us an estimate of 15-20 minutes, so we stayed. She, however, never took our order and kept tending to the tables which came well after us. It's a small place, and we were right there, so it wasn't like out of sight, out of mind. After waiting for another 20 minutes, I asked her if she was going to take the order. She then said it would be a 40 min wait. Unacceptable! We walked out disappointed by the lack of professionalism and sheer inability to tend to guests in the order of arrival, as well as inaccurate time estimates. Ahh, this was quiet a pleasant choice to take in Vegan Indian Cuisine while in South Beach. I went today with my visiting guest Preeti from Ahmedabad, India. It was her first meal at a Indian Retaurant in America, and we enjoyed each dish full of flavor, and from Preeti's words very authentic. The service was also good, and the conversation with Santysh I think the (Mgr or Owner) was very pleasant, and informing for me seeing he took the time to explain my dish choices clearly. If possible please stay away from this indian resto on south beach miami.. we went there on a super hot summer afternoon for lunch..we ordered mango lassi and water and buttermilk all these 3 arrived with no ice (surprising) and they were not cold either! Its summer guys ur customers need ice water (unless stated otherwise) and chilled mango lassi atleast! Next we ordered the appetizers mirchi bhajia to which he said they are out of it so we said potato bhajia and they said they are out of it as well.. who runs out of potatoes?!? I mean its the most basic ingredient and making a dish out of them is no big deal! Many dishes on the menu had a "not available" marker sign..We finally lost our appetite and ordered only the veggie biryani! Voila we were served veggie biryani in an appetizers plate! Ridiculous! Also the biryani tasted like it was a frozen veggie curry mixed in under boiled raw rice! Tasted okay but the rice was raw! At the end we got a $28 check for eating raw biryani rice and unchilled lassi and buttermilk!
