This is my favorite low key brunch place! Everything on the menu is delicious and a reasonable price. It's like IHOP or Denny's, but BETTER because of the non-diner feel to it. Everyone that works here is also super friendly and helpful. I love getting the Mexican omelette, but whenever I want to have a sweet breakfast, I get the cinnamon raisin French toast. I come here at least once a week now. I can't say enough about this place. The food is always fresh and delicious. As a big coffee drinker I love the fact they give you the whole pot at your table so you don't have to wait for someone to fill it up constantly. I've had a number of dishes, however my favorite is the Vegie Hash. The tomato hollandaise sauce is to die for. It really makes that dish. Service is always friendly. I have yet to come here on weekends so I'm sure it gets crowded. Weekday crowds are less. Affordable and great quality and service. Plus it's not a chain like so many restaurants around Addison! My husband got am apple granola pancake, eggs and sausage. I've never seen such a huge pancake. It had real apple slices. He wasn't able to finish the whole pancake but was extremely pleased. I got the berry berry delicious french toast. It had plump fresh raspberries, sweetened cream cheese and raspberry sauce. I should have stopped with them, but ate some of my eggs and sausage. The Egg and I is a great substitute for Ihop. I think they have better options than Ihop. Their food is great. Why the three stars? Well I ordered a half salad and half sandwich. Unfortunately, I got really sick after eating at the Egg and I. I am still dealing with the repercussions from my visit last week. Dirty! It's a Tuesday and there's no one in there . Every single table and booth had food on it. The waitress brings me an iced coffee with NO ice. And a spoon no straw. Just very unprofessional as she walks up to us and says she going to kick her co worker in the BALLS. LOL anyway, I'm disappointed cause this is my 2nd Time eating here . I think I just found my new brunch place! We came during happy Father's Day so it was definitely pretty busy. Our wait was only 15 minutes which was not bad. They have quite a range of food to choose from such as Benedict's and omelettes. I ended up ordering hiker's benedict and bottomless coffee. It was the right choice because I fell in love with my dish! There were two pieces of bacon on top of the benedict while the eggs and biscuits themselves were seasoned very well. It had this hint of orange/lemon taste with asparagus scattered throughout the dish. Just thinking about it is making me drool! I also loved the potatoes so that was a plus. Overall, I had a great experience here. When I come back, it's going to be so hard to try something new but I'm sure their other dishes are just as good. This place is a must-try! read more

This is one of our favorite breakfast places in North Dallas. My dining partner sticks with his eggs/bacon/toast breakfast, but thinks the grits are too salty. Went to the egg and I for breakfast this morning and it was a pleasant experience. I ordered the hikers benedict which was delicious. Could have used a tad more salt. We came here for brunch with a party of 6 (two of them kids) and had a great meal. It was busy, but the wait was only 10-15 minutes. Our waitress was great! Some of the best items our group ordered were the ranch potatoes, the green chile sauce (gonna get a big 'ol cup of that on the side the next time!) and the cinnamon roll french toast. The kids pancakes came out with faces on them, so the kiddos were immediately big fans of the place! We'll be returning here soon! read more

One of the best waffles I've ever had! We were seated on the long bar near the kitchen and were facing other tables, so that felt a bit awkward... but the service was great, as was the food. The only word of caution is that if you are still be covid cautious, we had direct view into the kitchen and many were not wearing masks, or had them under their chin. As I'm fully vaccinated, I wasn't as concerned for myself, but this is a big problem for some. read more

Good location and great restaurant. First visit to this particular Egg and I restaurant was Thursday, 3-19-2015 about 10:30 am. The restaurant was not very busy, service was excellent and fast. I ordered the Belgian Waffle from the "Favorites" list. The food was excellent - this waffle is really good! However, I do think The Egg and I restaurant chain should consider changing how this meal is plated. The waffle, the eggs, and the bacon are all served together on one large platter. So the first decision the customer has to make is "Do I really want my eggs and bacon in the syrup?" My answer is a resounding NO! I was able to get attention from a waitress and obtained a second plate quickly enough. However, I CHOSE Egg and I today especially because I wanted this Belgian waffle again, having eaten this meal at another Egg and I restaurant recently. The first restaurant served the meal the same way and I was unable to get staff attention to get a second plate at that restaurant. (Kudos for the Dallas location). This time I spoke with the waitress and the store manager. They could only tell me they serve it as the chain requires and could not change that. The manager did agree to escalate the comment "up the chain". I remain unsure why the server cannot ASK the patron if they would like a separate plate, unless that's not allowed by the chain. Anyway, perhaps I can assist in the escalation. So, dear restaurant chain, why don't you serve this as you do the biscuit and gravy platter? With this platter the biscuit and gravy are in an additional bowl centered on the platter. This is presumably to keep the gravy from getting on the eggs or the potatoes. I personally wouldn't mind so much about gravy on my potatoes or maybe even on the eggs. But if you're SO careful to keep those items separated from gravy (which doesn't run nearly as much as syrup), why aren't you concerned about keeping the eggs separated from syrup? Please consider changing the way the Belgian waffle is served and get five stars. read more

Solid. The service is prompt, friendly, and very attentive. I had the Huevos Rancheros, which was delicious. Full of flavor. It was my first meal back in Texas (I now live on the east coast where the Mexican food, to be frank, sucks) and it brought my tastebuds back to life. The ranch potatoes are also amazing. My mom had eggs Benedict. You will not be disappointed with that. I couldn't help comparing it to the one I had at The Original Pancake House that I had a week later...disappointing to say the least. After a work meeting, a couple coworkers and I were in need of a good hearty breakfast~ my co-worker recommended this place, as he had been here a couple times before, and I was a little skeptic, but after looking over the menu, I was beyond excited! The place is way bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside!! We were seated immediately and our server was tentative and nice, even though having 3 other tables. Was very impressed for it being a busy Sunday morning. As a vegetarian, and a healthy eater, I had no trouble finding something that fit what I would like to eat. Under the lighter offerings (I forget what they're called on the menu) but I got the egg white omelette that came with all the veggies in it and a side of fruit and English muffin. Took about 10-15 minutes for our food to arrive, and man! The presentations were amazing. My friends ordered some biscuit gravy thing (which I took a bite of and the potatoes were to die for) and my other coworker got strawberry something waffles which were mouthwatering. My omelette was so fluffy and so yummy and paired greatly with the hotsauce accompanied on the table. I will most definitely be coming back!!!! This place is so good. I really liked this restaurant for breakfast. I had french toast with eggs and bacon and it was such a good price. I couldn't eat it all because it was a big portion. This seemed to be a spot with lots of regulars and groups meeting up for breakfast to catch up on life. We suspected if there were this many people that the food must be superb. We waited approximately 35 minutes to be seated. I ordered apple juice and it tasted watered down. First time here so haven't tried much off the menu but the meal I did have (the viva la France french toast) was pretty good although the French toast could have used a little more powdered sugar (why else would you get French toast unless you wanted it to look like it just came out of a Colombian cocaine factory) . The name is pretty indicative of their culinary inspiration and their menu sure does have a lot of choices. I did have a little plate envy as I saw the waiter bring the table next to me a delicious looking parfait and omelette. It really seems like if you are looking for a good healthy breakfast, you can find it here. The service was great and the food came out quick. I wish the lady had told me that I was supposed to pay up front because I just stupidly sat there for like fifteen minutes waiting for her to come back by and pick up my card. That's my fault I guess but a little communication on my part could have saved us both some time. Overall I would go there again. Not a great experience here. First of all, the floor is carpeted which is always a bad choice for a restaurant, at least in my opinion. The floor was sticky and there was water damage on the ceiling tiles, not very appetizing sitting under that. Secondly, it took 25 minutes after we ordered for our food to come and they weren't even busy. All we ordered was a simple frittata and an omelette, there's no way it should take that long. The guy at the table next to us got seated AFTER we ordered and was done with his entire meal (he also got an omelette) before we even got our food. Pretty ridiculous. The third negative I had is about the coffee. It's just not good. They obviously over cook their beans, had a very burnt taste. There were also several other small annoyances. I had to ask twice for a coffee mug for myself, we had to ask twice for a to-go box for our left overs...things of that nature. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is because the food was alright, not great but decent. Based on all the other reviews maybe I just got unlucky with the bad service we experienced, but I won't be back. Not very satisfying would sum it up nicely. I liked the biscuits and gravy, and that's about it. The coffee was good, be sure to ask what the selections are. Having grown up with a step-father whose favorite meal was breakfast, I learned a thing or two about cooking eggs and sausage and bacon. Buy and make your own and you'll get better quality ingredients without the hassle or the cost. You could also drive a little further to one of my favorite spots, Pete's. I saw someone else mentioning that they used margine and corn syrup, and well, there ya have it... I always get nervous when the hostess introduces herself with "It's going to be a little wait". I roll my eyes and think, "Ohhhhhhh great." By a "little wait", she actually meant it! 5 minutes on a Sunday morning, and we were able to get a seat. Awesome! Our server was fantastic! Incredibly friendly and attentive, giving great recommendations. I got the Waffle Eggspress, which was a good life decision. I am a waffle fan, and this was definitely one of the better waffles I have had. It was perfectly crispy, with a nice soft inside. Served with a heap of butter and syrup. Like breakfast should be. Eggs cooked perfectly to order. Like they should be. Served promptly. Like it should be. My boyfriend was even MORE excited about his meal than I was about mine. He got the Cambridge Skillet, with jalapenos and over easy eggs. It was an explosion of flavor and spice, not needing anything else. is it possible to be turned off by the name of a restaurant? If so, then I don't feel so bad. Why do these restaurants try to be so trendy when deciding on a name I will never know. This was 2nd visit to the restaurant and again my experience was subpar. I believe someone likened it to a notch above an IHOP and I couldn't agree more. To me breakfast should be simple. You shouldn't try to please everyone (because you can't). Just pick a few items and do them better than anyone else. There were too many items on the menu, just like an IHOP or Denny's. I don't like to eat at either of those places either. After perusing the menu for what seemed liked forever, I decided Berry/ola oatmeal and a side of bacon. The portion was far too much for me and the oatmeal was overpowered by the berries. The bacon was fairly good and the slices were thick. I also ordered coffee which was fresh and hot. They bring out a cup and thermal picture full of coffee. To me what they are essentially saying is "I'm going to pour this one cup of coffee for you and then you're own your own." I thought a server was supposed to serve. Once my server brought my food I never saw her again. She did somehow manage to pass by my table again and drop off the check without asking me if I needed anything else. I'm a good tip (20% or more) and I did still tip her more than 20% although I felt she did little to earn it. Do waiters or waitresses ever read any books on customer service? If they do, it sure doesn't show. My visit was on a Thursday at 9:30 am so I didn't have to wait in line. The ambiance was tolerable but nothing special.
