This place is a brunch chain that serves mostly egg based items and a smattering of light lunch foods like sandwiches and such. The inside is decorated like... something. It's got lots of wooden benches and I suppose it's meant to look like a farmhouse or something? I don't like it. Not. One. Bit. I prefer the slightly grungy setting of a diner for my breakfast experiences. The food is not bad by itself, but it was all so bland it might as well be bad. I couldn't taste a single thing. The flavors were all muddled. I tried the hot sauce in the little condiments tray and it was probably the worst I've ever had. Couldn't taste any hint of spiciness. It was just kind of sour. The salsa that came with my eggs were pretty gross too and tasted like a stuff from a jar. Not a hint of fresh tomato flavor. Food came kind of lukewarm. So if you're thinking about treading on the blander side of life, think The Egg & I. read more

I'm a big fan of this chain and this location has never disappointed. Yes wait times will be longer on weekends (as would anywhere) but the service is always outstanding and food delicious. I'm a big fan of waffles and my husband their pancakes. For you coffee drinkers, it's excellent - especially the hazelnut. Every time the food has been right, appropriate temperature and tastes great. Price reasonable as well. read more

Usually busy in the morning, but waits aren't too long. So far can give two thumbs up to both the regular and crab cake eggs benedict. The potatoes that come with them are good, but if you get them loaded (cheese and bacon) they're kind of a soggy mess. I'd go with plain next time. read more

Found this place very good. Coffee and food good, service excellent. I had waffles and they were very good. Read complaints about things being salty, since I am on low salt diet decided to stay away from things that could be. So went with the waffle and was very happy with my choice. Husband had the crab cake eggs benedict and really not something that should be together. Hollandaise was good. We are not close to this place but it will be going into our breakfast rotation. We had a wonderful breakfast. Service from Michelle was super!! Great attention to detail like the carafe of hot coffee on the table and hot syrup on the table BEFORE the waffle arrived. This little cozy eatery has a comfortable atmosphere coupled with reasonably priced breakfast and post-breakfast menu items. The bacon was perfect, and their signature sauce is a definite must-try. The staff as a whole was great and the waitress was well versed in Egg and I ology. read more

I just had THE nicest breakfast at The Egg & I. I chose from the healthy options so as not to crash my diet and was pleasantly surprised at the delicious Mediterranean Frittata. Jose our server was friendly and professional and the manager Dan made a special effort in order to make sure we had the best experience. The food was delicious but the overall vibe of the place and great staff make it memorable. I will definitely be back, well done guys! read more

Don't know why the reviews here are so low... I go here as often as I can. It's my go to breakfast spot, and being the salsa lover that I am, the mexican skillet is my go to meal. Kids had the chocolate chipper pancakes, wife had the spinach & mushroom omelette and I had the chili chicken hash. This is one of my favorite breakfast places in the north Dallas region. You get a ton of food for such a low price and it's all delicious. Their services good and the place is clean. I love their hazelnut coffee it's so good especially with a waffle. They seem to be pretty busy on the weekend so expect to wait if you go. read more

Absolutely delicious food and great service. This is my boyfriend's and my favorite place to get a wonderful breakfast on a nice morning off. He loves the green chile chicken hash, which is not on the menu anymore, but the staff is always happy to make it for us. Ordered the Viva La France French Toast and asked the waitress to add cinnamon. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! I was expecting a little cinnamon sprinkled on top, but when the plate came out not only did it have a nice dose of cinnamon on top, but it was cooked into the toast as well AND I was given cinnamon butter!! My experience at this Egg & I establishment has to be one of my worst restaurant going experiences in a long time. First problem is that I was served creamer with my coffee that was clearly putrid and smelled like rotten milk. When I notified the server who only came about 10 minutes after serving the coffee she made up some excuse claiming the creamer was fine and only gave me new creamer and a new cup without much of an apology. Next our server was rarely available and only came by to give the food, coffee, and bring the check. Lastly, my water glass was empty for most of my time there and when she did come by to give us our items it was obvious based on her facial expressions and body language that she wanted to leave and was annoyed at having to serve us. That being said, the food was better than IHop and the prices would be reasonable If I they didn't make me sick. read more

I have left few negative reviews but our family has eaten here several times and it's overpriced and overrated. The wait staff is typically young and you will occasionally get some attitude. On our our most recent visit, we were sit next to a large group in a small space and asked if we could sit in a booth that was a little quieter--simple stuff. That request was met with an eye roll and throwing the menus on another table. We had to wait several minutes for someone to get our drink order as the young lady was sitting in another booth visiting with a couple she obviously knew. Etc, etc... Food is above average but pricey. My thoughts are that if you're going to spend $30 a couple for breakfast, it shouldn't feel like work and that's been my experience at this location. You can just as easily go to LePeep or Jimmy's Egg nearby and get as good or better food, better value and none of the attitude. read more

I absolutely love this place. From the moment I walk in I feel hungry and welcome. The staff works hard to make sure you are satisfied, and the food is just as impressive. Like crispy bacon? We had a breakfast there the other day. The food was amazing. They have this new Kale Cooler which was amazing. The atmosphere is very homey and staff is outstanding. Aside from the food, the staff goes above and beyond to satisfy their customers. After the breakfast, we experienced a little problem with our car battery. The manager and one of the kitchen staff brought the battery charger and helped to jump start the car. It was very helpful. The Egg & I is definitely going to be our choice when we want great food and service. Very satisfied customers! read more

I am a huge fan of The Egg & I. It's our favorite breakfast place - and the kids get SOOOO excited to come here. The Carrollton location is the most convenient for us, but they tend to be packed on Saturday mornings. We don't mind waiting, but I recommend going early if you don't want to wait. My favorite breakfast is the Athena Scramble; the asparagus is made perfectly (which is difficult in some places!) And it's very healthy. I'm also kinda picky about my fruit, and I LOVE that I can ask for the 'berry mix' and they only bring me blueberries, blackberries, etc. I have the privilege of knowing the owners, and I love that this place is locally owned and operated by a great family. They are active in the community, and donate a LOT to charity, which to me is meaningful. One of our favorite things is the pumpkin waffle, which you can only get October/November - be sure to try it! Oh, and the coffee is just amazing. The Vera Cruz Omelet is also really tasty, and very healthy. read more
